Using crappy units doesn't make S-ranking impossible; it just makes it a bit harder. Succeeding with a unit doesn't mean it doesn't suck; it just means you're good enough to pull it off. Also, while I do agree that combat rank is loleasy, you can take advantage of that earlier in the game to up exp rank, nerfing your combat rank to up exp rank (may come at the cost of tactics as well if you do it too excessively), now making exp rank loleasy and making combat the one you don't want to hurt further. Someone being able to help exp in exchange for hurting tactics/combat isn't at all special.

Dragon rider/badassness has little to do with her appearance, which is what I was talking about.

Miledy doesn't look at all attractive... but she's much better than Zeiss, gameplay-wise. She joins earlier on a higher level and even has better stats when they're on the same levels. She also has better supports, though most of that is due to the already-mentioned joining earlier.

This topic seems to have veered way off-course. What happened? (I'm not reading 19 pages...) Assuming you're talking about a ranking run, you don't use an iron sword with an assassin. You use a killing edge so you can get that doubled exp from pulling of silencer on top of that already increased exp due to the class exp bonus.

Cool fact: This game has a mode in which stat deviation from the average is extremely limited. It's accessible after completing the game once. Anyway, you seem to have the wrong idea about tier lists. Tier lists reflect who's more likely to be better than whoever else. Receiving damage isn't a bad thing. Dying is what you want to avoid. Sure, Kieran will take damage, but he won't take enough of it to have any significant negative impact. And they do indeed both one-round things. However, Kieran one-rounds more things than Oscar does. Ike is better off supporting Soren than not. That +1 atk comes in handy.

It depends on what you mean by "best". Most helpful at letting you beat the game? Erk. Most helpful at getting an S rank? Either Erk or Pent; it's closer, but it still looks like Erk to me. Most shiny green numbers at max level? Nino.
