  1. A lot of those systems, judging by the d-pad, were pretty old and abused to begin with. You don't need to apply THAT much pressure to perform a smash attack. Buuuuut... Basically that's a universal problem when it comes to playing the 3DS frequently. My old launch 3DS has its circle pad falling apart and shoulder buttons broken and face buttons loosening. I've also had friends have their circle pad cover pop off playing games like Kid Icarus. I just wish Nintendo would extend their warranty to cover more than a year and a few months, because the wear and tear on the 3DS's analog is a pretty severe design problem.
  2. No one is surprised by this. It was pretty obvious from his reveal trailer that he was going to be really, really bad at being off the ground. His aerials are also pretty bad and his jump speed is slow. It basically means Mac is gonna have some stages where he is really, really bad, but stages like Coliseum will fit him well.
  3. Villager, once you get used to the short ranges of the moves, is really OP. The recovery denial and projectile game is strong with this one. Aerial lag is practically nonexistent. Down tilt is actually a strong and fast KO move. Don't underestimate how all-around great the Villager is.
  4. I can't see Greninja being any less than a mid-high tier, but since things have changed from the E3 demo and now the whole cast is out, I don't know where to place him yet. But still, he's super fast, has a wide range of versatile moves, and still has good KO moves (which Sheik suffered from in Brawl that took her down many tiers). I think with Palutena, if you use her default moveset (and you have to in For Glory), is actually not that OP. Her up smash is absolutely insane with its range and is super safe, but the rest of her options are pretty slow. Her A moves come out slow and don't chain well iirc. She has the same problems as Zelda except her smashes are flat-out better. But her custom options being radically different might be better than her defaults, making her good in For Fun mode or Smash with friends. Peach's turnip game got even worse. And it was pretty bad in Brawl. You can still edge cancel the animation though. I just wonder what other changes she's got that might make me likely to pick her up for a 3rd time. Jigglypuff's Rest got buffed back up in knockback, but now it sends people straight up for potential star KOs instead of sending people off to the side. Which is kind of a hilarious nod to the Team Rocket blastoff if you do KO someone. That makes Rest a lot worse on stages with high ceiling blast zones but at least it's a lot better from Brawl's version.
  5. As someone who has the demo, it's VERY limited even with unlimited uses. 30 loads is more than enough uses to get your fix from the demo, considering only 5 characters are there, there's no customizations at all, and there's only two stages. It's definitely not worth $35 that some dumb eBayers want for their codes. If someone is so desperate to pay out more than $5 (which is basically the absolute max that these could even possibly be worth) for one of these codes, I feel extremely bad for them. I mean, yeah, for the hardcore they get to analyze up to 25 matchups, but it's still just a tiny fragment of a huge game. It's not worth blowing your money on having the demo a *week* early. If you were that hardcore that you needed the game right away, you might as well just buy a Japanese 3DS and then you could have the full game right now, and that's exactly what's happening. Edit: In the demo, if you change your system language you can get Smash to play in different languages, complete with the regional SFX. So maybe, hopefully, we might get Japanese in the full retail release when we can open up the game's options. Even if the review copies don't have that feature... too much hope, I'm gonna be disappointed aren't I
  6. I think every character in 3DS has a trophy that's randomly obtained due to the lack of Adventure mode. One is their "story" trophy and the other two outline their gameplay, if the pattern from Melee and Brawl is followed. But usually those randomly found trophies have a way to differentiate them from the others still. For example, Fox and Falco's trophies are both marked (SF: Assault) but Wolf doesn't have anything like that. Although I do want to believe that ICs are still on the table for being a character somehow. I'd even be okay if Sakurai revealed the Wii U version did have a bigger roster after all, if only so the ICs could be in.
  7. I'm excited for Greninja for sure. I played him on the E3 demo and he was really fun. There's just so many characters who are just absolutely great, plus I'll need to go through all the vets to see all the changes. They really went above and beyond to refresh the old guard, so when people get super salty at the last few lackluster newcomers (and let's not kid ourselves, the treatment of Dark Pit and Lucina is definitely lackluster compared to what could have been, even for clones), it makes me a little sad considering how much time was spent making everyone feel great to play. DHD also looks like solid gold. Everything about him puts a smile on my face. ...I saw the Ice Climbers trophy. It looks like it could have easily been a player model at one point. I really think they tried to have them in but just couldn't get it to work.
  8. The Villager is great to play! I feel like they got even better from the E3 demo too. It's definitely not like playing any other Smash Bros character, but Pocket is just SO funny. You can pocket nearly everything. It makes me crack up to think you can even pocket Pikachu's Thunder or the trees of other Villagers. Also, the demo uses only go down when you close the software. So 30 uses is actually a lot.
  9. For those who were mad that Luigi had two identical colours in the magazine scans of all the alt colours, fret no longer. That was confirmed as a printing mistake and Luigi does indeed have 8 unique palettes like everyone is supposed to.
  10. The roster is like a 9/10 for me. I mean, a lot of people are obviously mad that we have three extreme clones and the cuts suck, but honestly there is huge diversity in the newcomers. Plus there's been a huge amount of work into the veterans to make playing them feel better than ever. Even in the demo, Link and Mario have been HUGELY overhauled and they feel great to play compared to how they were. Still sucks losing Ice Climbers, Lucas, and Wolf. They were really cool. But I never expected Snake to return, especially after Konami stuck Raiden in Playstation All-Stars and the fact that MGS's connection to Nintendo is tenuous at best these days. And Squirtle and Ivysaur were obvious casualties after Charizard was revealed. But I think the rest of the roster is really, really good. There are characters I personally wanted to see who didn't make it in, like Isaac (who is gone completely, I blame GSDD being..............................), but there are so many newcomers and revamped veterans I want to play that I have almost felt overloaded with every reveal.
  11. When I got my codes today I was SO HYPED because I didn't see the news beforehand that the codes would be going out today. Unfortunately I have too many friends so my four codes were basically claimed as soon as I opened that e-mail. I never liked playing Mario in previous games, but damn, he feels so good here. Villager also plays better than my experience with the E3 demo too. Villager's pocket is just so OP and hilarious, it's great.
  12. I think human enemies in Smash Run take away from the cartoony element of it. Smash is meant to be fun, but the enemies of FE are not supposed to be fun. They're soldiers of an enemy nation. If we ever did see any FE enemies appear in Smash, I would prefer the monsters of Gaiden, Magvel, or at the very most, the revenants from Awakening.
  13. Mechonis Field is such an incredible song. The whole game is packed full of amazing music and it's one of my favourite video game soundtracks ever. Also THIS LIKELY IS JUST A MADE UP LIST ASIDE FROM A FEW OBVIOUS VOICE ACTORS CONSIDERING WHO IT INCLUDES AND WHO IT IS MISSING but I found it intriguing nonetheless. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt3408266/fullcredits?ref_=tt_cl_sm#cast
  14. Takamaru is pretty low res too, and he's new. I think the low polygon counts on humanoid ATs is more obvious than on a circle with teeth like Chain Chomp is.
  15. Amazing Mirror is such a totally non-standard, confusing Kirby game compared to every other Kirby title. It's fun but it was never really my cup of tea because I always get totally lost. At any rate, most game creators will carry over elements of their other games into other titles. Sakurai and his wife like to use similar UIs over all their games, so Kirby's Air Ride, SSBB, Meteos, and Kid Icarus Uprising all have very similar menu structures. Miyamoto likes tight gameplay and less story, so you see an abundance of simply designed, silent protagonists. Aonuma took Zelda in his own director for years and said his favourite part of LTTP before he took over as director was cutting grass. And then we saw a number of large areas full of grass to cut down...
  16. Considering the trophies, there's a possibility of Tharja or Tiki as an assist trophy, I think. But maybe not, they might just be in the gallery. I wouldn't mind Sigurd and his horse making an appearance as an assist, or even Jagen. One of the paladins to make one epic charge across the battlefield, lance in hand. Wishful thinking, probably, but I want it to happen.
  17. So in addition to POTD, looks like they're going to have two music tracks a day as well. I'm not sure how I feel about Masashi Hamauzu (FF13 composer) and his rendition of Green Greens, but Yoko Shimomura (Kingdom Hearts, Super Mario RPG, Mario & Luigi, Radiant Historia) arranges her own music from Mario & Luigi: Dream Team and of course it's great. Edit: Also, the press kit packet for Metaknight confirms the Dark Link colour option returns, and we also get a "Dark Zelda" (wish it was Hilda...) as well. http://nintendoeverything.com/even-more-super-smash-bros-for-wii-u3ds-screenshots/?pid=66488
  18. I don't think we've been told yet, but the Multi-Man Melee mix of the main theme has Yoshihito Yano as arrangement supervisor. That doesn't necessarily mean it's him, though. After all, Kid Icarus Uprising was also a massive collaboration between Noriyuki Iwadare (Ace Attorney), Yuzo Koshiro (Etrian Odyssey, Actraiser), Motoi Sakuraba (Golden Sun, Tales of series, Baten Kaitos, overall giant discography of Bandai Namco RPGs), Yasunori Mitsuda (Chrono Trigger), Masafumi Takada (No More Heroes), Takahiro Nishi (?), and Hirokazu Tanaka (Mother, Super Mario Land, Pokemon anime). The opening theme was done by Yasunori Mitsuda but Motoi Sakuraba and Yuzo Koshiro did a lot of the more prominent character themes. Edit: Also I should add Kid Icarus Uprising has an AMAZING soundtrack. They hit it right out of the ballpark. I can't wait to hear what they have remixed for Smash. I think Dark Pit's Theme is a shoe-in but obviously there's also going to be a Skyland/Underworld tribute as well since that's the most iconic song of the series.
  19. I have Piplup, Totodile, and a small plush Whimsicott keychain. My parents would be ticked off if I bought anymore, but every time I go to Japan I like to pick up at least one from the Pokemon Center plus something else like stickers or charms.
  20. Yep, today's POTD actually confirms information. That is, the Miis are the same between the leaked screenshots and the official POTD, and the omega naming convention for Final Destination forms of stages is confirmed as well. It's the little details that basically add up to this seemingly being the real thing. And the footage of Bowser Jr, Ganondorf, and Shulk fighting together is pretty much impossible to fake, since it's very, VERY unlikely that someone managed to cobble together a bunch of original models, animations, and movesets for two newcomers solely for a hoax. Of course, we don't know the final-final roster. IC, Lucas, and Wolf being cut is still speculation (I'm pretty much 100% sure Snake is gone otherwise we would know something by now) and there's obviously still room on the character select for more characters.
  21. My mains across Melee and Brawl are totally different due to the way my favourites were rebalanced between games. But I'm pretty sure I've mentioned them before.
  22. I'm disappointed IC will be gone, but they were stated from the very beginning as a major problem character. Unlike Luma and the Pikmin, Nana has to be identical in poly count to Popo (due to the fact that either of them can be the "main" Ice Climber) and the secondary IC runs a more complicated AI to act independantly, while Luma is pretty passive without any input from Rosalina and the Pikmin have their own thing. You can already see that the Pikmin were slightly problematic already because they were cut from 5 out to 3 out, and I really doubt that was entirely a balancing thing considering they are already set to appear in a set order. Of course, we don't know for SURE, but we've known for years that Ice Climbers were going through technical issues due to the limitations of the 3DS.
  23. For those wondering about what the page says about Ike, all it's talking about is Ike's history in the game. That CG is the one from PoR and not even concept art for the new Smash anyway. It says something along the lines of "Here's Ike at age 17~18. He's a general weilding the divine sword Ragnell." That's my interpretation, anyway, but it shouldn't be *too* off. Then it talks about Ike three years later, grown up and now the leader of his band of mercenaries. There's absolutely nothing that hints at any costumes or anything, just little character tidbits.
  24. I fished Shadow Dragon out of a bin once for $8, brand new and factory sealed, and resold it for $15 pretty much immediately. If I hung onto it, it would probably be worth more now online but for a long time it was easy to get the game for dirt cheap. Same with Blazing Sword and Radiant Dawn at one time. Now the games are worth a fair bit more, especially the console ones, but Blazing Sword is definitely not $100 material. And especially not a copy like that with an obviously damaged box. I'd say a copy like that is more in the $30-40 range at most.
