  1. They might never be released, or they'll have to go through some licensing hoops first. They're 3rd party so you'd have to wrangle the rights from said companies whereas Nintendo can go ahead with their 1st party figures without having outside consultation beyond the manufacturer. I think Peach still looks pretty good, Kirby looks basically perfect (pretty hard to screw up a pink ball with eyes), Marth is good except the sword, and Link... wow.... that's just a colossal screw-up with the piss yellow block stand. Marth was my planned purchase and it's a shame his sword is not as pointy and elegant as the prototype but I think I'll still get it. As for future Amiibos, I want Zelda, Ike, Shulk, and Little Mac. I worry about Ike, but thankfully Shulk's sword is not sharp in the traditional sense so I think the Monado will come out looking ok if they ever do make him an Amiibo.
  2. For the Wii U, the gap in graphics compared to the Wii is actually HUGE, compared to the XBox 360/PS3 vs the XBone/PS4. Going from standard definition to HD is a huge transition. They are the only ones with a significant hardware gap between last gen and this gen after gimping themselves with a non-HD system (a problem that really became apparent the last three or so years of the Wii's lifespan). Also the Wii U is backwards compatible with the Wii anyway and can even use the tablet screen as a mini portable TV for the Wii. Seriously, the GCN/Wii games are like fuzzy mud once you've gotten used to HD resolution. It's a necessary upgrade in Nintendo's case. But if you don't like Mario platformers, Mario Kart, Pikmin, Monster Hunter, Hyrule Warriors, Donkey Kong Country, party games, Rayman Legends (not exclusive but was originally supposed to be) or Platinum Games-style action brawlers, or total backwards compatibility with the Wii (though not the GCN as a firmware design), I guess there isn't much meat to the system yet. This winter we get Smash Bros. Next year we get an arena shooter in Splatoon (new IP!!), Xenoblade Chronicles X, Yoshi's Wooly World, a new Star Fox and a new Zelda, and Devil's Third might actually be out by then too which is probably the strangest publishing choice Nintendo has ever made. And maybe SMT x FE sometime. Maybe. Who the hell knows. And if that's not enough, I feel like nothing ever will be. Admittedly Nintendo has really dropped the ball with 3rd parties, especially American ones, but I find the Wii U is the best system to supplement the PC with. Mario Kart 8, Super Mario 3D World, Nintendoland and the upcoming Smash Bros have completely justified the purchase for me so far, being a respective step up in every way from their Wii counterparts and is the best local multiplayer system. For disclosure, I have a PC, 3DS, Wii U, GCN, Wii, PS3, and PS4. The PC is obviously the most used because it's also for work, followed by the 3DS, but my PS3 and Wii U get about equal playtime depending on what's out. The PS4 is largely pointless until Persona 5, Final Fantasy Type-0 and FFXV are out. The Wii is basically in storage and the GCN was brought to school to play SSBM, Baten Kaitos, Tales of Symphonia, and Skies of Arcadia, and GB/GBA games when I had to wait for renders because it's so light and easy to carry. Based system with carrying handle 10/10.
  3. I have a big thing coming up tomorrow... maybe some good news will come out of it. Here's a sketch I drew because I don't draw as many bodacious ladies as I could be!!
  4. The NoE tweet seems to suggest that Mewtwo will be free for people who buy the 3DS and Wii U version during a promo period, but that Mewtwo will be buyable by conventional means for everyone else. It would be colossally stupid for Nintendo to force people to buy a game for a system they might not already have just for one character. Plus there might be households with multiple copies of the 3DS but only one console, and that just would not be cool if only one person could have Mewtwo. Said tweet: https://twitter.com/NintendoUK/status/525415360242393088 The language is slightly ambiguous, I admit, but it still seems like he will be for sale by conventional means due to the whole "promotional period" bit.
  5. Well, Mewtwo is DLC but it won't even be ready until spring of next year. I think a lot more people would be upset about paid day 1 DLC, but a lot of people expected character DLC to be a thing this time around. Nintendo has been pretty good about value for money when it comes to their DLC pricing too. I hope Mewtwo plays better than he does in Melee. I do have faith in the team though, as pretty much every character on the roster is fun to play. But in Melee he was so... weird. Kind of felt like a wonky fusion of Ness, Samus, and Zelda. Here's hoping his moves have less awkward animations this time.
  6. <3 You don't need dreams! Just dedication! Just 5 years ago my art was kind of embarrassing 9 times out of 10. Going back 10 years ago and it was blerg. I just kept going at it. Amelia is such a youngin and she'll definitely be better than I am at my age, if she isn't already Hahahahaha Smash came out and I slacked off super hard also I'm always away so I never get anything done sometimes.
  7. Super Missile doesn't work. The next strongest option is using Ness as a partner. PK Thunder, PK Fire, and PK Flash can all be absorbed. PK Thunder and Fire are faster, but PK Flash is the strongest energy blast in the game. Even just filling the bucket with one Flash and two other projectiles would be deadly. Honestly a meta revolving around G&W filling his bucket is boring for everyone. There is no good counter. In the Wii U version he might be allowed when the stages are larger, but in the 3DS version the stages are pretty small, which makes Oil Panic just ridiculously OP even compared to Brawl (where G&W was also one of the best).
  8. It's a lot easier to fill SSB4's Oil Panic. Pikachu's Thunder is 4 hits in 1, which is why the bucket fills instantly. I think the list of moves G&W can catch has also increased greatly. Also, it looks like it splashes out a lot further than before and stays out with active hitboxes for a long time? I can't remember how the attributes in Brawl were comparatively because G&W pretty much never gets used by anyone.
  9. Well, the video in the top post has a literal 17 second 2-stock game so... yeah, I agree with that ban for doubles. It's clearly broken. And since G&W can do something similar with any number of partners and not just Pikachu, it's best just to disallow G&W as a pick. Bear in mind Japan didn't even ban Metaknight from tournaments unlike some NA ones. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x60Rvt4kjXg This is not conductive to tourney play at all, even for the for-fun events like doubles.
  10. I think that's the point. The metagame is healthier if more characters are viable overall. Equipment, on the other hand, will certainly be banned, but I have met absolutely no one against custom moves. For some characters like Ike and Palutena, it helps them out a ton.
  11. If you open your browser, there is a bookmark for 3DS Image Share pre-installed. Open that up and then let it connect to the service of your choice (Facebook, Twitter, or Tumblr) and then voila! Some people have issues with it working though. Twitter is the easiest one to use. Tumblr's probably the buggiest, but I had it working when Animal Crossing first came out.
  12. Roy is generally considered shit too but people love him. Doesn't have to be a good character to have a big fanbase. I know people who want PICHU back of all characters, because they want another cute Pokemon... but I hated Pichu as a Smash character.
  13. Tumblr has been on it since the beginning! I used to use it although my DNS with it was really weird for awhile and the whole service was broken for months. The only issue is, you can't choose which blog it goes to, so it kept uploading things to my art portfolio instead of the blog I wanted it to go to. Works best for single-blog accounts.
  14. If you take screenshots, it saves to the SD card in jpg format. If you have an SD card reader on your computer you can grab the jpgs. Alternatively, I think you can use the 3DS browser to upload screenshots to tumblr, Facebook, or Twitter using 3DS Image Share. Edit: oh yeah, I got caught up hosting my own Thanksgiving this year so I almost forgot! Love your Miis Ana and Loki. Freddie Bear is adorable and Loki is just so perfect, like wow.
  15. My friend was getting all in a huff that the challenge for Home Run Contest involves hitting the sandbag over 3200 ft and was like "That's crazy!" Well, it wasn't *entirely* simple to do but I managed about 3540 ft as Ganondorf. And it was mostly skill of execution of the plan, but it involved a few f-smashes to start, something to knock the sandbag into the air, a dair spike, and a couple other mixups and hopefully another dair spike, then hit the sandbag with the tip of the bat near the edge of the platform. My execution was not perfect but it was adequate. The walls that hold the bag in are pretty durable.
  16. And even Sakurai admits the clones are so lazily done is so they could skimp on playtesting, knowing that the characters would perform more or less identically in 90% of all situations. I wish they were at least Melee-levels of difference between the original cast but I think the change to full character was EXTREMELY late, considering they are hanging out in their own little clone land on the CSS. But even still, I play as Lucina a lot and she's one of my best characters to play as, so I've learned to live with the choices made. In the end it's kind of like all those shoto-clones that popped up in Street Fighter for a time.
  17. According to the people picking apart the game, yes you are imagining things. Her attributes to Marth sans sword should be identical. Honestly I think Lucina's KO power is still very good compared to most of the cast. She'll reach KO %s pretty fast through her speedy tilts with good range. Not as crazy as the heavies, but not nearly as long as say, Fox or Mario or something.
  18. Yeah, that tier list is really wonky. It's based off of players voting, so there's a lot of bias towards traditional popular picks. Like Ganondorf is still at the bottom and I wonder if we're even playing the same game, because Ganondorf has insane super armor frames in this game and shatters shields with ease. And while his recovery ability is only slightly more than Little Mac, his actual air offense is actually scary too. I would either take these tier lists with a big grain of salt, or come to the mindset that even though tiers exist, tier gaps are significantly less than they were in Brawl. The bottom tier still has a great chance of beating picks much higher than them, though certain matchups are a pain. Like, Samus > Little Mac so hard, trying to win that matchup almost felt like playing a shump with Samus's projectile game and ranged grab. If I had to make my picks for bottom tier, it would probably be Mega Man, Donkey Kong, and Falco, though. Mega Man would be cool if there weren't so many ways for his ranged heavy game to be gimped, since characters like Mario, Villager, Fox, and Palutena are just hard counters. DK's aerials are so slow and lackluster, as are his range of neutrals, but he doesn't have the range or knockback that fellow heavyweight Ike does (since Ike has been nerfed to a similar speed). I feel bad for Falco mains, he's probably one of the heaviest nerfed characters in the game and it doesn't feel like he got anything back unlike say, Meta Knight or Marth. Reflector's startup frames are slower, can't cancel the blaster, and everything seems to come out slower. I feel like he's only as high on the tier list as he is because people are still attached to him anyway and are willing to stick with him. But still, stick with what you like! I love playing as Toon Link still even though I've seen him place bottom tier in some people's lists, but I win as him pretty often vs my friends and he's one of my best characters. Same with Jigglypuff, who I feel is significantly better than she was in Brawl with a shield-shattering Pound and better KO ratios on Rest. And I still regularly play Zelda and have found some tricks with her, so even if she's definitely NOT among the best, she still has some dangerous tools. Catching people with the new Farore's Wind is great! Don't get discouraged that your main has more bad matchups than others. Player skill > tiers. Mew2King is one of the best players in Smash Bros and he pulls out Roy and Pichu at the lower brackets of SSBM tournaments and for-fun events because he can still win and put on a show for the fans.
  19. Pit is the one who launches vertically when he connects with his side+B. Without DI, it launches straight up. Dark Pit launches more towards the horizontal. Pit is better in stages with low vertical blast zones but Dark Pit can try to get an early gimp if he knocks someone over an edge.
  20. I saw a breakdown of damage between Lucina and Marth, and the damage difference is negligible between them with their non-tipped attacks, but Marth does a significant amount of damage more than Lucina hitting with the tip. The biggest difference is knockback, which gives Marth a slight advantage in being able to KO in the lower %s if he can land the tip. Lucina is just way easier for most players to handle but Marth isn't really worse than Lucina. If you master his mechanics, he's the better character to pick. Lucina is just an easier version of the character to play, which is entirely fine by me.
  21. John Doe isn't his real name, heh. It's a term for unknown persons/people who can't be identified. His backstory is that he's actually a scion of a megacorp but ran away after his parents were assassinated through some conspiracy within the corp. So he's just using a fake name and no one knows his true identity. Shadowrun is a game where most people go by a street name or alternative identity since you pick up shady jobs as mercenaries/spies-for-hire.
  22. I don't think I agree with that. If bad players want to play For Glory, they are welcome to. Saying they shouldn't play at all because they're bad reeks of fun policing. And the reality is, some of those people might be kids picking up Smash Bros for the first time and have no idea about the competitive scene, or they just want to play 1-on-1s online and For Fun's rule set doesn't appeal to them. In any fighting game, there will always be complete scrubs who don't know how to play but will go online and try to be competitive anyway. They will lose a lot. They will bore the players looking for a challenge. But we don't have a right to say they shouldn't be able to do what they paid for unless they start breaking terms of service. And "being genuinely bad at gaming" is not a TOS violation.
  23. Nice! I also decided to show off John Doe. I'm not quite ready to show Galena yet though, since I don't have a good gunner outfit for her yet. I'm torn with John Doe... I wonder if I should put him in the samurai gear because he's a street samurai, and yet the futuristic suit is more cyberpunk. I went with swordsman though despite his aptitude with guns, since the katana's just cooler.
  24. Alright, here we go! Mii time! This is my Shadowrun character, Sora. It sucks I can't get purple hair but I'll live.
  25. Actually, the sword Mii can also have a projectile chakram as their side+B too! And the Chakram is really good too, I like using it. I loooove the Brawler Mii. Sora is so great, I should get some screenshots of her in action sometime soon.
