  1. 1. Fire Emblem: Blazing Sword 2: Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones 3: Final Fantasy VI Advance 4: Final Fantasy I and II: Dawn of Souls 5: Pokemon Emerald See a trend here?
  2. I admire the amibtion and willpower of anyone attempting a Nuzlocke run because I could never do it. Since you're playing Platinum, you'll be able to get Bebe's Eevee on your first visit to Hearthome, which should help you a ton. With such constraints on how to get Pokemon, it's good to have something that can evolve into one of seven things within your control. At this point I'd suggest making it into either Flareon or Jolteon considering the types of your current team, but things could change by the time you get to Hearthome. Best of luck to you!
  3. Paladins have always done the job for me, as well as Heroes. These are among the more versatile classes, having average or higher stats in most areas most of the time and can wield a variety of weapons (Paladins in FE7 could notably use the while Triangle). While their onlt real advantage is simply their versatility, their solid, all-around nature leaves both Pallies and Heroes with no real weaknesses either, They generally have a decent enough defense to take some hard knocks and are fast enough to avoid being doubled.
  4. This could potentially be the start of many countries blocking the Bay in the near future, trying to follow England's example. Your milage may vary on whether this is a good thing. But if it's so easy to bypass the block, then I don't really see any reason for the pirates to feel threatened.
  5. I would assume the game throws those game-breaking foes at you to discourage arena abuse by setting up fights that are stacked against you after a few victories. From personal experience, switching which units enter the arena each turn a lot seems to reset it back to easier foes, but there's no guarentee. And in SS, you can soft reset the game when you're shown your opponent's level and class (but before you enter the arena), and when you reload you'll be back on the map as if nothing happens. The game doesn't autosave until you're thrust into the battle screen. That's about the best you can do without hacking.
  6. I like it. Really shows how the theme has "evolved" over the years. On a side note, I don't know why, but the picture of Marth (if that is Marth and not someone else) on the cover of Seisen no Keifu looks a little like Tuxedo Mask. Maybe it's the cape.
  7. I'm not looking forward to this game nearly as much as I was DQVIII and IX. Nonetheless I plan on getting it, and considering my tendancy to get addicted to MMOs, will probably be unable to but it down until i inevitably get bored of it and go back to Maplestory or ZOMG. Graphics aside, it's a bit of a downer to me after years of hoping for a new RPG epic. However, I can see DQ going the way of Final Fantasy in the future in order to be more marketable stateside. At least the series doesn't have guns and space travel... for now. But admitedly, that would be kind of cool.
  8. Perhaps the Wars series? It's the same developers after all. It could take place in the far-off future or something. Who knows.... maybe Andy a descendant of Eliwood / Roy.
  9. I have a punching bag that I beat on when I'm really angry or frustrated. I find that taking out my agression on a physical object (without hurting anyone) is a really effective way get my emotions out. Before that I used to punch pillows, but that's a great way to wear them out and get cotton puffs/ feathers all over your room.
  10. As Baldrick said, these are the other two candidates for the Assassin class in SS (they start out as Myrmidons). They're equally suited for the role, and more so than Colm due to better stats and you'll only have one other opportunity to recruit a Rogue. Personally, I prefer making Joshua a Swordmaster because his Strength is a little higher of the two, and his Skill is lower, making Marisa the better choice but you won't go wrong with either.
  11. Amazon and Ebay aside, you can try your local Gamestop. If they don't have it there, ask them to check their computer to see if any other stores in the area do. If you're paranoid, you can ask for that store's phone number and ask them to hold the game until you get there. I've alawys had positive experiences with Gamestop's customer service. I doubt the price would be much better than getting it online, though.
  12. I've never seen Colm become that great of a fighter in any of my playthroughs, though he tends to surpass Rennac unless he gets severly RNG screwed. I think if you're going to have an Assassin, then make one out of Marisa or Joshua instead. Colm will serve you much better as a Rogue, which I've always done and not used Rennac. Stats aside, I personally dislike Rennac because he's a selfish jerkass in the story (and yes, that influenced my decision not to use him). Sure, he's not so powerful in either class, but if you're going to make him a rogue you're not raising him to be your main attacker, which is a role better served by other characters anyway. And even still, Silencer isn't something to rely on when you're saving your Killing Edges for the fights that matter the most and using more common weapons otherwise.
  13. Fire Emblem Puzzle Challenge! This would be a new installment in the Puzzle Leage series (known in Japan as Panel de Pon), and also produced by Intelligent Systems. Here's some information about the series if you haven't heard of it. Rather than focusing on cute fairies, Pokemon, or Yoshi and his pals, this installment would feature the cast of Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon. Just as Pokemon Puzzle League games did, FE Puzzle Challenge! will bring some elements from its home game into the series. For example, the symbols on the puzzle blocks will feature images such as wyverns, swords, and magic tomes rather than the generic stars, moons, etc. The game would feature both single player and multi-player game modes. Naturally, all the character sprites and images for the game will be in a cute "Super Deformed" style to fit in with the rest of the Puzzle League series. VS mode/ Story Mode: Play your way through an abridged version of Marth's story... in puzzle mode! The stages are called "Chapters," and each feature one or more of the boss enemies from the SRPG game as a computer opponent. Unlike in normal Puzzle League games, you pick one to three characters/ units to "fight" in each chapter. At the start of Chapter 1, you only have Marth and Caeda, but you will gain a new unit from the story, the last to join being Elice. Not every unit from the original game will be featured in this spinoff, only about fifteen or so who have the most importance to the plot. The screen is divided into two sides, one for the player and one for the computer. Unlike in other PanePon games, you have one active unit at a time from your chosen three (or less), and can switch between them freely. In this game, each unit only uses one type of weapon or magic even if they used more in the original game. This is important because the Weapon Triangle and Trinity of Magic are in effect! For example, if Marth is fighting an enemy who wields an axe, his Garbage Blocks (useless blocks that are thrown into your side by your oppoenent when they make a combo or chain) will be one line thicker than usual. The axe-using enemy's Garbage Blocks thrown onto Marth's side will be one line thinner. To prevent this system from being abused, there's a 30 second cooldown after switching characters before you're allowed to switch again. Tiki is a special case here, as she is uneffacted by both the Weapon Triangle and Trinity of Magic. Her Garbage Blocks don't change size based on the opponent's weapon. As always, once the pile of blocks reaches the top of the screen, that side loses you can continue if you lose, but you take a penalty to your overall score. Between chapters are cutscenes that tell the story of Marth's journey from espacing Altea to the ultimate showdown with Madeus. Endless Mode: Pick your favorite character to represent you (in this game mode it's purely asthetic) and get cracking! The stack of blocks keeps on coming, and you need to line up three or more vertically or horizontally to make them disappear! There are no garbage blocks in this mode. Puzzle Mode: In this mode, blocks are set up in special formations, and you only have a certain number of moves to make them all disappear. The blocks don't rise or increase in number, so you can take your time to think. Each set of ten stages is represented by one of the playable units, starting with Marth and going up to Elice. Before each character's set of stages, they will appear and give you some hints about the puzzles to come and what tactics you will need to beat them. For example, if Shiida's stages are about making combos, she might say, "Try to clear as many blocks as you can in a single move! If sliding one block one way will let you clear four or five at a time, do that first!" Multiplayer: The multiplayer mode pits two players against each other in matches similar to Story Mode, the main difference being that your opponent is a living, breathing human being. Players can compete directly or over the Nintendo WFC. Each player chooses three units to bring to battle, and the game begins!
  14. I've always been one not to stray off topic (usually), but if that's commonplace then hey, let it happen. Anyway, thanks for the warm welcomes, and I look forward to chatting more with you guys around the forums. Being attacked by Christmas (or Santa?) is always a good thing in my book. That's one day I can't get enough of even if I don't celebrate it.
  15. My dad used to play Doom as well. I miss having him around, really (getting off topic). He ws the absolute KING of Space Invaders, though, and really loved gaming. If he saw some of the stuff they're coming out with today I'm sure he'd be more than impressed. It's nice to meet someone with similar experiences.
  16. Oops... wrong series. Anyway, hello good people of Serenes Forest. Anyway, my name is Jasmine, or Jas for short, but you could call me Mermaid as well. I'm really not particular to what I'm called so long as it's not something stupid. I am twenty-three years old, and I'm from good ol' New Jersey in the United States (oh what am I kidding, NJ is a rat's nest). Moving along, I have a bachelor's degree in biology and I'll be attending veterinary school in the fall if all goes well. I've been hooked on video games ever since I was a littler girl. When my dad was around, he used to play Atari 2600 and NES games, and I can recall countless hours of sitting next to my older brothers and watching them play SNES games. Anyhoo, I've been a fan of Fire Emblem since Marth and Roy's debut in the west in Super Smash Bros, and the subsequent release of Blazing Sword (not that I knew that was the proper name at the time, but still). I have played every FE game to have an official stateside release, and a few that haven't. I'm a huge fan of the series, and I also enjoy the (somewhat) similar Wars series also by Intelligent Systems. To this day, Blazing Sword remains my favorite game in the series, not to mention one of my favorite video games ever, along with Final Fantasy VI and Chrono Trigger. With all that out of the way, I'd consider myself a pretty amiable person, and I'm happy to be here. Please don't hesitate to drop me a comment or PM if you want to be friends or just chat. : ] I promise not to bite... much.
