  1. Well that was...a sight. Elaine was holding back laughter at Thorvald's choice of swimwear in a fucking speedo. She had to shake it off to not burst out in subdued chuckles. And by then, the ball was coming straight at her! "Oh shit!" She yelled as she tried to hold her hands out and catch the ball. Her timing was off, however, and the ball 'bapped' her straight in the face. Again. I probably deserved that, She thought. The ball landed in the water right in front of her, and Elaine picked it up, ready to throw it back at Thorvald, before noticing Roxanna, waiting there, expectantly. Well, the more the merrier, right? Elaine soon backed herself off so that she could easily see both Thorvald and Roxanna, then tossed the ball back into the air before hitting it towards the XO, less fiercely than before. The entire time, there was a smile plastered all over Elaine's face.
  2. Distracted by the XO finally getting into the water, Elaine didn't notice the ball flying until it was a bit too late. Though, it wasn't coming straight at her, and went off to her left. People could certainly be fast in water, but not agile, and thus there was little way for Elaine to jump quickly enough to get the ball. So, that's how you wanna play, huh? A smirk came across Elaine's face. She swam over to the beach ball, and picked it up in her hand, a devious grin on her face. With a toss, she aimed, and saw a spot just high enough for Thorvald to be unable to reach it, and then, with the best precision someone could muster in a pool, launched it. It wasn't her strongest strike, she wasn't that terrible, but there was a bit more power to it than her first.
  3. Elaine laughed a little at Roxanna's attempts to get into the water. There was always someone who just dipped their toe in and had to take several minutes just to get over it. "Come on, XO! Can't handle the cold? The water's fine!" And it was always fun to tease said person. Every time, they would take so long to get into the water. And every time, when they finally got in, then all it took was a few seconds before they were swimming along with everyone else. They were just being a baby, is all. A little cold water in a pool never hurt, right? Elaine heard a splash, and turned back to face Thorvald, coming up from the water. That was a fairly fast changing, wasn't it? Well, either way, now the pool was starting to get lively. And it was about to get livelier. Elaine swam back to the other side, holding the beach ball with her. Then, when she was at a proper distance, with a 'Hey Thorvy! Catch!', she tossed the ball into the air with one hand, and with the other, smacked it across the pool.
  4. Is everyone really going into the hot tub first? Oh well, more swimming room for me. She took a deep breath and dived underwater, once more. The sight was plain, as was any other swimming pool, with only the walls and floor of it to look at, save for the shadows and lights that danced across the floor because of the way the light reflected off the water. It was a sight Elaine had learned to appreciate, both as a child and an adult, for it had given her peace of mind many a time whenever she was feeling aggravated or tense, coupled with the feeling of being underwater. Elaine swam down to the bottom of the pool, touching it with both her hands, then floated back up to the surface, releasing the air from her lungs. There had definitely been deeper pools than this, ones that Elaine was never able to get to the bottom of, but this one posed no challenge to her. It was almost disappointing. Back in both school and the military academy, whenever there was time off and they went to the pool, there was always a ccompetition of getting the lowest in a single stroke or dive, of which Elaine frequently came out on top, though not always. It was a game that she missed playing, though after coming back to Italy from Colony 2, no one... No one really wanted to talk to me, anymore. She had arrived back at her Uncle Rob's house in Italy, welcomed home by him and Nico with open arms, several minutes of hugging, crying, and apologizing going by. But, she had mistakenly assumed that it would have been the same for all her old friends. In reality, none of them were delighted to see her back, and refused to explain themselves as to why they were avoiding her. Some were aggressive, others were evasive, but Elaine could gather why. No one wanted to deal with a criminal, pardoned or not. No one... Elaine shook her head free those thoughts. This was a time for relaxation, not for dwelling. And it was time for some laps. Elaine swam, pacing her speed accordingly so as to not tire herself out, while still maintaining some semblance of speed. She was timing herself, as no one else was keeping track. 1 minute, 15 seconds. 1 minute, 19 seconds. 1 minute 20 seconds. 1 minute 18 seconds. 1 minute 12 seconds. 1 minute, 8 seconds (she had to catch her breath after that specific lap). She wasn't satisfied with her averages. Gotta get under a minute. Or a minute and 5 seconds at least. Gotta keep going. Gotta keep going... And then a beach ball hit her head. While it didn't hurt, the thing being practically lighter than a feather, it did make her stop and look towards the culprit, albeit with more confusion than anger. Thorvald turned out to be the thrower, asking her to hold on to the thing while he got changed. "You know, you already passed the changing rooms, so you didn't have to throw that at me," She called back with a chuckle. That certainly put a smile back on her face, and Elaine decided to oblige and keep the ball for now. They weren't sure if they could get a net, though.
  5. Elaine, surprisingly, was already in the women's changing rooms, having not entirely noticed those who had entered or exited at the time. She had just finished getting on her swimsuit and placing her outfit back into her locker. It wasn't that extravagant of a swimsuit, rather basic for someone so loud and abrasive. It was a one-piece, a rather covering one that went up to her neck, and showed nothing of her torso. It was made of Nylon, a much more comfortable alternative to the many spandex suits out there, which Elaine appreciated it. After all, those sorts of suits were always prone to chafing, but this one was just right, not too tight to constrict her, but not too loose either. It was something that she had picked out with Jane, and represented a fond memory of shopping with her. Elaine stepped out of the room, through the hallways, and to the pool, where a few people awaited her. Jessica and Kim were wearing some rather...unique looking bikinis, Kim's being far more out there than the captain's. Elaine's eyebrow raised, wondering just where she could have gotten something like that, especially a military soldier. Though, she supposed personal life such as expensive swimsuits weren't too big of an issue. Abigail was also there, but Elaine tried to pay her no mind, as well as the fact that she showed up in casual clothes instead of swimwear. She probably didn't have a swimsuit of her own, considering she was pretty much a captive, and despite tensions between the two, Elaine wasn't gonna make fun of that. Wordlessly, Elaine found a bench to lay her towel on, and started a little bit of stretching. Then, with one single sprint, Elaine jumped, and dived straight in. The water was cold, as pools usually were, and refreshing. All the heat that had been built up over the entire day just seemed to melt away, as the cool temperature overtook her. Elaine surfaced, letting herself float for a moment as she closed her eyes and absorbed everything. The wet surface, the sound of splashing and flowing water, all that was missing was the open air. This...this was peace. Peace of mind and body.
  6. She had barely just finished her food when the loud speakers came on. She had just placed her tray on top of the others when the announcement ended. Relaxing, huh? It had been a while since she was able to swim, and she definitely needed time to relax after everything. And it would give her more time to reflect. Elaine smiled, thinking about how much she enjoyed being underwater, and how safe she felt when she was. How comfortable she was. It didn’t take much to convince her. Elaine was soon off towards the pool. The last time she had been there it was only with Kim, and at that point she had nearly bawled her eyes out at her. Now, it was gonna be with a lot more, and it certainly wouldn’t feel as awkward as last time. No, this time, she was gonna enjoy yourself.
  7. A competition? Really? She didn't get it. She didn't get what Elaine was trying to say to her. Maybe she should have been more forward with her words, but in her mind, Abigail had to figure it out for herself. Redemption. That is what she was looking for, and that is what she wanted her blonde counterpart to do as well. It didn't matter the number of bad guys you downed at the end of the day, because that was what everyone was doing. Then again, Elaine was still trying to find the people who attacked Colony 2 those two years ago, as if taking them out would make her anything better in the eyes of society. It was her own uncertainty, perhaps, that left her 'advice' so vague towards someone in a similar situation. She didn't know the answer. And Elaine's crime was attempting to steal military tech. That and...failing. Failing to protect. "...Fine." She said, regardless of how pointless she felt it was. If anything, it was a way to prove that she wasn't a useless pilot, and that she had some merit to her abilities. She could prove that to everyone...including herself. "The simulation room can be set up for it. We'll do it tomorrow. Now...If you could let go of my arm, Christina."
  8. "Just what the HELL are you implying?!" Elaine stood up, slamming her hands down on the table as she did. She had taken plenty of insults, but now she was at the boiling point. Anger, or embarrassment that Kim was able to take her down so easily, made her face flush red. She could come up with a thousand excuses for how things went the way they did, but it didn't matter. All logic and calm thinking were out the window. "Where the FUCK do you get off, blondie? You think you can just act like nothing happened back at the Colony? Like the only thing between us is the fact that I'm riding in a bot you used to?!" "How many people do you think died because of you? And I'm not just talking soldiers, I mean innocent civilians! People trying to make a living in this fucked up world! People just sitting in their houses on a peaceful morning, enjoying whatever meal they're having with their families! Kids just trying to learn their letters and numbers, or college students trying to study for their fucking exams! How many died because you were working with terrorists?!" Unlike the event with Nikolai, it was easy to find the words to spit back at Abigail. In a way, it was like looking in a mirror. At someone just like her, who went down a different path than Elaine took. And it made her hate Abigail all the more. "You want your stupid bot back so badly?" She said, leaning in, giving off the most intimidating glare of her life. The kind she used against inmates who had just witnessed her take down the biggest and baddest person in the prison. The kind that made people afraid of her when she was outside of a cell. "Earn it." With that, Elaine took her tray and left for an empty table, not waiting for a response from her. As she walked, she downed the rest of the carton of milk before crumpling it up and throwing it fiercely in the nearby trash can. This was the kind of person that the captain expected her to work with. Fucking hell.
  9. Elaine was starting to wonder if this was how people felt when she got angry at things. She could easily feel the anger coming from the former rebel, and she wasn't even a telekinetic. Abigail had stopped her over the robot she had been piloting for the last two missions, the robot that used to be hers. It was understandable, even to a punk like Elaine. It was hers before, and yet she took it without ever even thinking out the former pilot. If someone had started piloting her Marionne, no matter how good they were at it, she would probably want it back, too. And yet... Elaine diverted her gaze from Abigail back to her food, and sat there, silently. She took up one of the carrots she had on her tray and bit into it. It was cold, and stale. It's texture was odd, and barely had any taste. There was barely anything to the orange colored vegetable. She snapped off the piece she had bitten, chewed for several seconds longer than she needed to, before swallowing the food, all the while not even looking towards the two that sat at her table. "...No." She said, bluntly.
  10. "Thank you." She said, somewhat surprised nothing lead to any yelling...yet. But, there was going to be some sort of conversation during lunch, and ironically with the two people with the closest ties to Apotheosis than anyone else on the boat. ...Hopefully. Still, the timing couldn't be any stranger, if not obvious. One was an actual agent, albeit one captured and forced into being one, the other a mercenary who just so happened to have worked with them. Either this was some sort of cosmic message telling her something, or a coincidence that seemed all too surreal. Regardless, Elaine moved past Abigail and made her way over to the Cafe. -- There wasn't a full time cook on the Riese, and Elaine had stumbled on one of the more unlucky times were no one was posted. Which, in all honesty, was fine for her. When she was living on Colony 2, if she wasn't going out to the local WcDonalds, she would have to make her own food. Though, there weren't many times were she made burgers, and with everything frozen as it was, it took a bit of microwaving to defrost it before it could be heated. Then again, it was the same process any fast-food employee would probably have to go through. Getting the cheese, ketchup, and lettuce weren't too hard, and before long, Elaine had everything for a good old fashioned cheeseburger. Except pickles. Fuck pickles. With a miniature carton of milk and some carrots for a snack, Elaine brought her tray over to the table and began munching down. The burger itself was pretty standard, nothing too special, though she didn't expect anything from a military vessel, to be fair. The cheese wasn't as gooey as she preferred, but the flavor was still there, as was the flavor of the ketchup, which helped mix up the bland tasting meat. The lettuce didn't really add anything to the taste, but it was nutritious, and that was all Elaine really cared about. Still, it was certainly better than any school lunch she had during her primary years. She took a few more bites before setting down the burger, taking a small sip of her drink, before looking over at the others at the table. Abigail was eating her own meal, not exactly staring at her, but not looking away from her either. It made her feel uneasy, like she was back in prison, with someone planning to attack her for the stupidest of reasons. But, this wasn't prison. This was the Heion Riese. And she had to abide by it's rules, just like everyone else. "So...What did you want to talk to me about?"
  11. Christina brought up a good point. Everyone did accept her, quite quickly in fact, and she was shooting at them just like Abigail did. But, the point didn't really hold anything at the current moment, because all Elaine wanted to do was to get past and go down to eat something. It was this lady that was the aggressor here, not herself, for once. Still, she was getting impatient. And hungrier. "Listen, Chrissy, I'd love to discuss things and all that, but I am really hungry so..." She said, turning back to Abigail and her crossed arms. "...If you could please move, I can go eat."
  12. That's what you get when you expect to be alone. Someb-...Oh brother. The awkwardness of the situation was two-fold, as the blond in front of her probably had intended to go to the bathroom, before running into one of the people that spoke out against her being allowed to pilot a mech alongside the crew. Abigail, former rebel and mercenary, now in the custody of the Heion Riese, the very same leader of the rebel group that was allied with Apotheosis, was now confronting her. "Looking for me, huh?" Elaine said. "No, I don't know. Now, I gotta get some grub to eat, so I'll just be on my way, thanks." She had a somewhat annoyed tone to her, mostly because of her empty stomach irritating her, now that there wasn't any sort of immediate threat in the area shooting at her. And it made her rather grumpy, to put it lightly. Especially after it had interrupted her thought process of trying to pick out who she could speak to among the inhabitants of the ship. And she really didn't want to have to deal with whatever beef 'blondie' had with her. So, she preemptively tried to move and get out of the way. She really needed a good burger. Maybe with some cheese... "Hm?" Elaine hadn't even heard Christina approach, and was a little spooked, but the feeling soon went away with an apology from the other, similarly blonde woman. "Oh, uh...it-it's no big deal. I was just about to head down to the Cafeteria to get something, so...Yeah. If you can excuse me, Abigail."
  13. Elaine had since dashed out of the briefing room and into the nearest bathroom. She was currently in the process of splashing cold water onto her face, for all the good it would do her. She was already wide awake, she could feel the cold on her face and all the slight irritations and pains that it brought, and she knew for certain that everything was real. Her eyes opened slowly, expecting, or perhaps wanting, to see some sort of bizarre occurrence around her. A person with a gun to her head, a moving camera, some fucking devil on her shoulder, anything that she could visibly see and fight back against. However, all that greeted her was the sight of her face, dripping wet from the tap water that flowed through the faucet, staring back at her with the same look of despair and uncertainty. It felt like a horror movie to her. No one around her was suffering the same way as she was, at least not to her immediate knowledge. Even if they were all dealing with the fight against terrorists in their own way, no one was going through what she was. And no one could know, either. Should she ever bring it up, all it would take was for whatever mole was in the ship to step up and play whatever bits of the recording that they needed to, and suspicion about her would rise tremendously, even more so than it already was. She had already made the fucking stupidest mistake of telling the captain that she was never truly pardoned, a decision that she looked back upon and could never figure out what came over her in that moment, and if there even a hint of involvement with terrorists, that would make her look even worse. I can't believe I was such a fucking idiot! God fucking dammit! Hell, there were many decisions she made that were questionable at best. She could have easily just turned off the communicator when Louise revealed herself and gone running to the captain. Even if she wasn't believed, there wasn't anything incriminating that she had said before than, right? That said, her mind, thinking so fast and so much, wandered to the many other decisions she made that weren't even related to Louise. Her decision to join a military ship of the ANF, of all things, as a damn native EU citizen. Her decision never apologize to Tarquin for the way she had acted. Her dumbest decision to steal- Elaine slapped the sides of her head with both hands. Stop it, you dumb bitch! This isn't the fucking time! She caught herself breathing heavily, and took several moments to regulate it, her hand on top of her tightened chest as she felt her elevated heartbeat slow down. Deep breaths...Deep breaths. That's what Uncle taught you. A momentary step back, diving deep into the parts of her mind where she could think properly. It wasn't often that she did this, only during engineering and mechanical projects, but if she was going figure this mystery out, she had to use it for other means. Out of the numerous members of the staff aboard the Heion Riese, she only knew and recognized a mere fraction of them by face and name. Each of the pilots, Avery, Buck, Dr. Cheryl, Dr. Megumi, Captain Jessica, XO Roxanna, Christina, and Juria were the only names she could come up with at the time, though she knew there were more that she had seen. Without sufficient knowledge of all of their backgrounds, there was little reason she would be able to trust any of them. There was no telling who, out of any of them, could be the mole that had spied on them. There was also the possibility that there was more than one, which things even more complicated. Her original plan of getting to know everyone was still a possible solution, but with so many people on board, so many she couldn't call out by name, so many that she probably hadn't even seen yet, it would take years to get fully acquainted with every single one of them. Corners had to be cut, shortcuts needed to be taken. There had to be- *grooooooowl* Elaine's eyes opened once more, and her gaze was down at her belly. "*sigh* ...Okay. Food first." Christina never did come back with that lunch they were supposed to eat together. Elaine took a towel to dry off her face, still dripping slightly from the faucet, which she promptly turned off, as well. Elaine slipped her gloves into some pockets of her suit, and proceeded to open up the door and leave the women's washroom, intent on going to the cafeteria on the bottom deck.
  14. Whatever conversation was happening around her, Elaine had long since stopped paying attention, focusing on what Christina had said before. Louise. A lieutenant of Apotheosis. One that had given herself a cybernetic snake tail after the loss of her legs. And, without a doubt, the very same one that had offered her a position in Apotheosis earlier that day. Elaine's eyes were still widened and shaking, staring into the direction of the video that had stopped playing for a while, now, a stare of blank horror overtaking her face. It wasn't paranoia. It was all true. Somehow, a lieutenant contacted her privately, within her own room, and spoke to her for several minutes. Somehow, the same lieutenant had spied on the Riese in the briefing room, and was most likely doing just that at this very moment. Somehow...Apotheosis had placed a mole inside of the Riese. Every bit of doubt she might have had about the conversation, and it's implications, were now gone from her mind, utterly and completely. There was no telling how they were spying on them, whether it was a bug on the mole, a discretely placed camera, or just the mole supplying Louise with info via word of mouth. Regardless of the method, Elaine knew that she was being spied on even as they spoke, and there was nothing she could do about it. Elaine felt sick. There was no one she could talk to about this, not even Cheryl. Even she was a possible suspect. There were even less people she could confide in than she could even normally speak to. Not Astin, not Kim, not the captain, not even Makoto, for god sakes! Everyone around her was a possible suspect, and if she messed up, if she revealed it to the wrong person, her entire credibility, her life, everything that she had tried to build up ever since escaping from prison would be for nothing. She would be labeled a terrorist, imprisoned, and most likely executed. Hanging, firing squad, or any other diabolical way to kill terrorists the ANF had, and she could do nothing about it. ...Nothing but accept the offer in the most dire of circumstances. And that was the furthest thing that she desired.
  15. "What...what the hell is this? What kind of joke is this shit?!" Elaine slammed her hands on the desk, staring straight at the video as it played over and over again, seeing how...smooth the robot seemed to move. Smoother than anything she had ever seen. "I know Apotheosis has got illegal tech that it's using to stay ahead of the game, but what the hell am I looking at?! There is nothing out there that moves like that!" "I have studied the latest tech for mech suits for as long as I can remember, and I have kept up with everything, even the under the radar tech! And there is not a single movement device that is as smooth as...as that. Not for mech suits!" Elaine kept shaking her head in disbelief, unable to comprehend what she was seeing. Cybernetics had certainly advanced that far, yes, but...but not mech suits! And it wasn't even legs that were moving like that! It was a snake tail! "That things...tail... is moving more like a cyborg than a mech. Whoever, or whatever, is piloting that robot has something that shouldn't be possible. At all. Period. So what the hell am I looking at Jess?"
  16. This was what was being discussed? New call signs? Or was Elaine the only one concerned about people other than the boys in captains uniforms who normally sit back home, safe and sound? Was Elaine the only one concerned about the Colonies? The civilians nearby? The men, women, and children that they were meant to protect? "Can't the captain figure out call signs for us?" She blurted out. "We should be focusing on helping the people around us, right? Why the hell are we the only ones capable of checking up on the different bases?" Once again, Elaine was speaking her mind faster than she could use it, and immediately felt an incoming reprimand from someone, even if it wasn't the captain.
  17. The briefing seemed uneventful to her. The standard congratulations on succeeding the mission were given out, the order to eventually salvage what was left in the destroyed base, and finally a recording of the odd green orb function that the classified 'boss-model' (a very video-gamey term that Jess gave it) and the precautions to take against fighting another mech suit with that function, which basically amounted to not getting caught in the orb itself. There was also the matter of Brant's Russian allies staying aboard the Riese, to which they didn't seem to be objecting to, at the moment. What do you think they're going to try to do with Colonies two and five, now that the Riese isn't around? Elaine tried to hold back a grimace as the words of the supposed Apotheosis Lieutenant, Louise Park, resurfaced in her mind. In truth, she had nearly forgotten that they had abandoned the Colonies to fend for themselves in exchange for heading back down to Earth, but now that there was down time, it all came flooding back. There was still doubt in her mind that what Louise had said was true, but she also couldn't deny the fact that, had they failed to get Colony 1 back, then... "Yeah, I have a question." Elaine found herself blurting this out before she could even think, and with eyes currently on her, there wasn't exactly a proper way to back out. "Uh...What's the situation with the Colonies? Two and Five? What's happening to them?"
  18. "Uhh..." Now, they were getting into levels of sentience Elaine wasn't entirely sure how to handle. 'Proper skin'? What the hell did Hannah mean by 'proper skin'? The more Elaine thought about the possible answers to that question, the more uncomfortable she became. "I..." Elaine looked around to her fellow mechanics, who all seemed to be equally confused and bewildered by the question put forth. "Li-listen, Hannah. I'm not the one who should be making those decisions, but, I'll tell you what, I'll...g-go ask Avery the first chance I get!" If she claimed to not have an immediately reason to speak with Cheryl before, she might very well have one, now. Or the captain. Or the people who made Hannah's AI. Or...anyone? Elaine knew not to let old movies cloud her judgement on these types of things, but the way Hannah worded her request sent a small shiver down her spine. It was reminiscent of an old horror film she had watch about an AI gaining sentience far beyond what should have been possible, and while the name of the film currently escaped her, she remembered how it ended. So, she couldn't help but take that into account when asking Avery. "For now, uh... Let's just put you back together." She then began scanning Hannah's leg to get a view of some schematics for remaking it. That is, until her wrist communicator started beeping, which interrupted everything. Elaine quickly read it, and sighed once more. "Change of plan, lads," She began, handing the panel to the old man, "I gotta go to the briefing room, so looks like you'll have to take control. I'll be back soon as I can." She gave off a two-finger salute as she walked backwards a few paces, before turning around and jogging straight to the elevator.
  19. "Buck, wait-" Buck was already leaving before she could give out any apology to the kid. The hand she outstretched curled up into a fist, as she sighed in regret. She would have to comfort him later, but for now, Hannah was the priority. Elaine went back to analyzing the AIs body, trying to get her latest mess up out of her mind. "Hmmm...The arm still works, just needs a new connector to the torso and it should be right as rain. But the leg...Eugh. It'd be better to just replace it completely, but we'd have to build it from scratch..." At this point, she was letting mechanics gather around her to view what the panel was showing. "Artificial skin should be easy to recreate. Doesn't look like yours is anything special. Your leg might take a little longer, but if we do have enough and scan the schematics on your other leg, I'm pretty sure we can finish it within the hour, if not two. And uh..." Elaine took one last look at Hannah's hair. "...You know what, we'll get someone to restyle your hair later. Also lend you some fresh clothes. Sound good?"
  20. "Glad to see somebody respects that I can keep a bot together." She said with the arrival of Buck onto the scene. He was most likely saving her from an earful, but to her, all that mattered was that she was alive and the robot was still in working order. Even if spare parts for such a model weren't immediately accessible, she was sure that the mechanics would be able to make due. It's something she got used to when working, that was for sure. Buck's praise to her should have sparked something inside of Elaine, a sense of gratitude that someone finally recognized her as doing good, but the praise she received felt far more like a blanket statement to all of the pilots that took part in the battle. It felt empty to her. Meaningless. Like it was something expected after every time they succeeded a mission. It felt- "What the fuck did you do to yourself?!" Elaine's eyes widened at the sound of Buck cursing, even more so at the sorry state of their allied android, Hannah. So many mechanics seemed to drop whatever they were doing to help the AI stand on her one remaining leg. Artificial skin was torn all around her upper arm, and what looked to be a very patched job connecting one of her arms to her body looked about ready to give way. The image of this nearly broken robot reminded her of the salvaged mech, or what was left of it, that had been found two years ago. It was in just as much a state of disrepair when she first saw it, but this time there was no Jane here to help out. Still, Elaine refused to sit by and watch as the process of rebuilding her was done. There was something inside of her that told her she needed to help. "Move. Let me see this." She said, moving through the mechanics that stood around. There was no tone of excitement, snark, or any sort of attitude in her voice. For once, she was being completely serious. Hannah was sitting down when Elaine got up close to the busted up android, and didn't wait for any acknowledgement to start looking over the materials and metals used on her. "Hmmm...Ti-6AI-4V Titanium Alloy...Even the joints are made of it. They really went all out on the expenses..." She looked back at the old mechanic she had met earlier. "Hey. How much spare Titanium Alloy do we got?"
  21. "Who the hell are you calling 'numbnuts', ya jackass?" Elaine was in the process of stepping out of the mech and onto the elevator, and took off her helmet to get a good look at the familiar old mechanic she had met earlier that day. "You're really surprised it got so much action out there after it tore up the place? It's a battlefield, not a god damn fashion show!" The elevator lowered as she slung her helmet underneath her arm. She actually hopped off before it was fully lowered to the ground. "Besides, all the dents show how much of a beating this thing can take. It's got plenty of armor to go around, and it's fast, too! Kept me alive, well enough. So quit your whining already! If you really need help fixing it up, I'll lend a hand to make ya feel better, 'kay?"
  22. The sound of someone, Astin in this case, calling her out and telling her to stop was just enough to get Elaine out of the bloodlust she was in. She found herself panting heavily, and took deep breaths to calm herself. The Heracles lowered the rifle, and began to move back to the Riese, while Elaine tried to contemplate and figure out just what had come over her. It certainly felt familiar, like she had experienced it before, but couldn't quite put her finger on when or where. Or why. If there was one thing she could take solace in, it was that she hadn't been reprimanded throughout the actual mission, but even Elaine knew just one time of following orders wasn't nearly enough to put her on the captains good list. This was what she had to do from now on, and it felt empty. Not questioning orders, not doing what felt right, just being a mindless slave. How long could she last doing that? If the captain was to order her to die, what could she do? These and many more questions floated in her mind, as the Heracles set itself back into its spot in the hangar.
  23. What? No no no no NO! The music stopped, and Elaine looked on as the rest of the lackeys left the field with their tails between their legs. But everything had just gotten good! She was finally getting into the rhythm she so desperately needed! And now they were running?! After everything they've done, they didn't GET to run!! The customized Heracles model pulled out their Recoilless Sniper Rifle and took to aiming it, all the while Elaine was zooming in as much as she could, trying to get a lock on the fleeing terrorists. "Come on... Come on..." Elaine watched the targetting system intently, waiting for the series of beeps that told her she was locked on. She didn't care which one of them it was, only that when she fired, they'd be deader than roadkill. "Come on... Come on, already!"
  24. Elaine removed the robots charged fist from the remains of the torso of the Legionary she, quite brutally, attacked before it exploded. It hadn't been facing her when she rushed at it with the Plasma Buckler, and while a simple hit from it would have been enough, there was something inside of Elaine that made her... go the extra mile. She had grabbed it with her free handle before shoving the fist straight through it, with it poking out the other side. She could see through the large hole that had been made, and while Elaine didn't know if that had been the cockpit, she knew it would trouble them no more. Elaine had been one to get pumped, so to speak, about fights and mech battles. She didn't know whether to call it excitement or something else, but she did know that she had never felt this level of exhilaration before. Her chest felt tight, her heartbeat was elevated, and she felt...amazing. It was like she was in the groove of dancing to a song she knew all too well, and she needed to keep it going. Immediately, Elaine took out her music device that she had kept so close to her. She couldn't put on her headphones because of the helmet, but it was better to blast it loud anyways. The mission didn't mean anything, anymore. They had taken care of the biggest threat. So now, it was time to have some damn good fun, and as the smile crept onto her face, Elaine cued up her playlist, and got ready for the next enemy to scrap.
