  1. The major mecha that had been attacking the Russians had been shot down. Things were going a lot smoother than expected, and it was time to clean up the rest of the mess. Elaine felt her adrenaline pumping, as it usually did when a battle lasted this long, but it wasn't as strong of a feeling as before. Not to mention she had only now started focusing on the battle, finally able to get the thought of the communicator incident out of her fucking head, among other things. Even so, she was struggling to contain the enthusiasm she had for scrapping the Apotheosis lackeys terrorizing the place, and it was all she could do to keep a level head and stay with the group, even after the lecture from earlier. She wanted to get pumped up, feel the adrenaline course through her veins as she got into her so-called 'groove', but at this point Elaine knew she didn't have such a thing. Not ever since- There was a new blip on her radar that startled her. About 4 mecha-paces away (that's what she personally referred to the space between mech suits, embarrassingly enough), there was a Hyperion model still standing, and even further was Nikolai, taking care of another Hyperion, with Tarquin nearby. The robot she spotted, after getting a good look at it, seemed to be preparing some sort of maneuver against one of the two. Her personal feelings towards the two were...complicated. She hated Nikolai immensely, and Tarquin was annoying, but... they were still allies. And she could never forgive herself if an ally died while she could do something. So, reluctantly, she aimed down the scope of her rifle at the Hyperion, taking her time to carefully aim. Her target system locked on to the cockpit of the mech suit, and, with teeth grinding together so hard she felt actual pain, the trigger was pulled. Elaine casts Valor, and fires Sniper Rifle at Hyperion #2.
  2. Elaine could feel that the bot was beginning to fall apart from the damage she sustained, but she was also impressed with how it was holding up. It's armor plating was equal to that of a Legionary, and yet it was just as, if not more, mobile than the standard Velite. In the previous battle, all she had focused on was the blurry storm that covered her out of date targeting system, but with it upgraded, she began to appreciate what it had to offer. Still, it was dangerous to stay out in the field in it's current state. Another hit or two, and she might have to eject. Weapon energy was still near maximum capacity, and Ammo for all of her weapons had been barely depleted, but one look at the power all but confirmed that this custom Heracles had taken too much damage for her liking. But, she hadn't been ordered back onto the Riese, and while normally that wouldn't bother her, the current situation with the captain still hadn't left her mind, and she did not want to risk it. This was what a soldier did, right? Risk their lives for their higher ups? So, despite everything, she stayed out in the field, despite the danger. And in the chaos of the battle, she saw an opportunity she could take. Elaine would not pass it up. Elaine to (20,16), Beam Rifle on Legionary #5
  3. To add on to what Darros had said 1. Some of the S rank weapons did not actually have effective bonus against monsters. For me, it's been the Siegmund, Garm, and some ither weapon that I currently can't remember. 2. The excel document with the download of the patch currently isn't up to date. Innes's skill is still listed as Bow Range +1, and the stat caps seem to be incorrect, like the Berserkers skill cap. 3. Whenever a ballistae is on the map, every character seems to list their attack range being increased as though they can board and use it, even if they aren't an archer. towerofvalniwhen All in all, I really enjoy this, despite some of the bugs that remain. It's a new way to play FE8 that I greatly enjoy, and honestly would become my preferred way to play it. Great work!
  4. Elaine to (20,20) (flavor inserted later so I don't keep holding up things)
  5. Righteousness. That was the word that Owen had used to describe Deira's motives for this war. And it made Serge feel sick on the inside. The fact that this all started because of some 'divine right' they were given, as if the god Engel came down and told them that the world was theirs. Admittedly, he knew little of religion and of what Engel promoted, but that was only because he never got himself involved. And if religion made these crazy types, ones who would interrupt a wedding between two of the same sex, and ones who would go conquer everything in some holy war, then he still wanted nothing to do with it. Of course, he was going to have to fight them, now that he was involved, but hopefully he would have more thank just the four mercenaries watching his back. It was going to be an uphill battle, and one that would likely last for a long time, and the only question he had now was if he was prepared to fight or not.
  6. Elaine burns Accel There were many things that Elaine was thankful for regarding this robot, and the updated targeting system, courtesy of Buck, was definitely one of them. She was back to more comfortable standards, even if she was still getting used to the rest of the inner workings of the Heracles. "Squad by squad," She said to herself. "That's how we're doing it...Alright." Elaine quickly brought up a display of the current map. The hunters in front of them still stood, or in this case flew, but two of them had been hit and looked ready to plummet just from a quick scan, one more than the other. But, she decided the one designated as number two was more of a threat, and so she set her sights on that. Elaine to (23,23), attack with Beam Rifle at Hunter #2
  7. And that is exactly why I like the magic system in Arc Rise. Because of that restrictive feeling, it gives meaning to the many items you come across in your adventure compared to, say, final fantasy games, where you just cast your highest level cure spell over your entire party. It's something powerful that should be used only at the proper moment, and that is something I can appreciate.
  8. Arc Rise Fantasia I get it. The english voice acting is absolutely terrible. And anyone who has played it knows that the start is slower paced than a snail on top of a turtle. But if you can get past that, like I did, than I think people will find that there is a quality game underneath it all. The system they used for weapons is something I haven't seen done right in any other game, allowing a level of customization for your characters that can make each playthrough different and varied, especially when you get better at the game. The magic system is also interesting, with magic being a valuable and limited resource that leaves you questioning when it is proper to use them, instead of just being 'the way certain characters attack'. And to top it all off, I think the game can be fairly challenging to someone, at least for the first time. Bosses have strategies to them, and you need strategies to counteract them. Some of the hardest bosses in ARF aren't even at endgame. As a bonus, I think the music is nice to listen to. I don't think it deserves the bad rep that it gets just because of it's voice work, and I urge anyone reading this to try it, whether by buying the game (by some miracle) or through emulation.
  9. It was like any other mission. People to kill, mechas to destroy. But, Elaine didn't feel the same as she usually had. She was tense, for several reasons. Mostly because of the final chance she had to not infuriate the captain, but even now the call with Louise worried her. If they really had recorded the entire conversation, if she really had spoken with Apotheosis, they could pull out the recording at any time, and that would be it. In more ways than one. "This is Ares 2, ready and waiting." Her 'spunk', if it could be called that, was no where in her tone. She wasn't pumped about anything in this fight. She wasn't excited. But she wasn't calm either. She was just...an obedient soldier. And it felt terrible. As much as she hated it, Louise had been right. The ANF didn't care for what she believed in, and as long as she stayed with them, then nothing would change. Of course, Apotheosis was no option, either, but- Elaine shook her helmet clad head. This wasn't the time. She had a mission, and one last chance to prove that she wasn't dead weight to the rest of the team. "Who am I targeting first, Ares Leader?"
  10. Nona's uncertainty towards the correct process of calming a wyvern, especially a hungry one, did not help his increasingly dangerous situation, and Serge could only stand there as the scaly beast sniffed the air around him. His mind told him to start running as fast as his legs could carry him, and while he desperately wanted to, his body just would not move. Was it fear that held him in place, as if he were a statue, or was there some level of curiosity that kept him, waiting to see if the wyvern would back off or snap him like a twig in between its jaws? Serge wasn't able to tell between the two. Behind him, Serge heard the sound of someone approaching. But his hopes of being saved were dashed as the voice of Esclabor met his ears. Of all the people to come see his predicament, the baron was the worst possible, especially after the absolute lengths he had gone to spite him ever since the wedding. And today was certainly no different as he heard him make a rather crude remark on how Serge preferred women, most likely to get a rise out of him, if not someone else. But, Serge was too focused on the problem in front of him, and how willing it was to eat him as a snack. At last, someone, namely Nona, stepped forward, and the wyvern seemed to calm. Serge gave out a heavy sigh of relief, thankful that he could breath again as he let his arms down to his sides. Whatever kept him still was now gone, and his body finally moved to his command once more. He turned back to see the baron, and saw both the man in the golden jacket that had run off before and the lance wielding mercenary from that had been in the Colosseum tournament. "I'm not here to pop anything, Esclabor." He said, holding back anything vile he might have to say. "I was just here from the beginning, and Nona showed up and healed the rider with her staff." There wasn't much point to explaining anything to the baron. Serge knew he was most likely going to twist the situation to make Serge look bad as best he could, but Serge was more concerned with how he looked to the companion of the rider that he had just tried to help.
  11. So, this is Kigen. Mavis looked out from the deck of the boat, silently observing the homeland and last known location of Seoung-Lei. Had she not been on a hunt, perhaps she could have taken the time to take in the sights and experience the culture. But she was here for one reason, and only after she was done could she relax. For now, she just had to wait a little longer, and soon she would have her vengeance... Then again, there wasn't any reason preventing her from doing both at once, was there? 12. Wyverns weren't something Serge had much experience with. The only time he had come into contact with them was when fighting the Reliants, and they had always been out for blood. So, with this beast looking at him, hissing at him, Serge had to stand up and back off a little, his hands up and open to show that he wasn't reaching for anything, not that he was sure a wyvern could understand that. The words that the rider said before falling unconscious were a reminder to Serge of an item he still carried with him. Reaching into his back pocket, he pulled out the crest of the Reliants that Niko had given him before he left. It didn't take much thinking about their words before coming to the conclusion that this person was part of the Reliants, themselves. And that presented a problem for him. No doubt their leader, Laudine, still had a grudge against Serge for his poor choices of not only taking up the name of the Reliants but admitting to taking part in the murder of her own brother. And no doubt that she had informed everyone within the Reliants to be on the lookout for him. So, if this rider recognized him... The low growl of the wyvern made him look back up, and Serge realized he had much more immediate problems on hand, like not pissing off a creature several times the size of him.
  13. This wasn't the first time Astin had suggested fencing to her. Their first day on the Riese, they had come to her while she was in the mess hall of the desert base, and offered it as a way to get out their frustration. In all honesty, Elaine was surprised that sword-fighting was still such a practiced thing in this day and age. Maybe it was her preference for firearms mostly speaking, but she felt like they were just impractical. Still, she had pent up aggression, and hitting something was certainly a form of catharsis she had used before, but never with a weapon in her hand. "...Sure. Why not?" She said, shrugging. "Probably best to get all that out before we're deployed, next, anyways." Plus, it would give her more chances to observe Astin. Really, Elaine had little idea how to try and find any sort of mole or spy within the ranks, but she didn't have anyone she could confide her suspicions to, thanks to 'Louise' (if that was her real name) and her earlier call. "So, is there like...any place we can do this thing?"
  14. "I'll consider hiring when I know who they are and what they want. Being pretty has nothing to do with it." He said, plainly. There was no visible reaction on Serge's face when the helmet was removed, though he certainly didn't expect what he saw. The other person, the one in the golden coat, had called them a 'he', but Serge wasn't entirely sure that was right. Of course, he wasn't really one to judge, his ponytail not exactly being the most masculine of hairstyles. But it wasn't just the hair; their entire face seemed feminine, almost...angelic. "...Hey. You feeling any better?" He asked, after a long moment of silence, letting Nona's healing staff do it's work. "Can you speak? Can you tell us who you are? Why you're here?" It didn't feel great to be the guy interrogating someone with so many injuries, but now had to be a better time than when they could fight back. After all, he wasn't going to completely write off the possibility that this person might start attacking.
  15. Apotheosis broadcast was at approximately 8 o' clock in the morning. At that time, all pilots and crew members were aboard the Heione Riese. The closest set of known people to the meeting room- Elaine was going over the facts in her head, once more, when she heard another set of knocks on her door that startled her out of her deep thought. She flinched, and caught herself staring at the floor of her room, sitting on her bed with both of her hands in her lap, together. She blinked a few times, her eyes now getting used to no longer staring in one single position for who knows how long. She had lost herself in her thoughts, which was an oddly refreshing change of pace. She hadn't been able to ponder like this ever since she got assigned to the Riese. "Y-yeah! Yeah, I'm in here!" Elaine slowly got up from the bed. She could feel a tightness in her chest as she stepped towards the door that was not present before. It certainly wouldn't have been there around the pilots she had worked with before, but the communicator conversation was still so fresh in her head, and it was likely it wouldn't disappear from her mind any time soon. The door opened, and there stood Astin with a smile on their face. "Hey there. Wha-what's up? What's going on?" She said, trying to return the smile, though it came off as an awkward attempt that wasn't really working. She saw the agender pilot differently, now. What was once an ally was now a possible suspect in her eyes, and she was paying attention to every detail she could, as if she were looking at blueprints or schematics. Now, she had to be more careful than ever.
  16. He didn't know why he felt the way he did, but the purple-haired daughter of Valter's presence made him feel a way that he couldn't really describe with words. In all honestly, he barely even knew anything about her, a trend with many of the people he had been traveling with. All he knew was that her family was one of the high ranking nobles within Wyke, and that she was the oldest of a trio of sisters. But, there was something about her, some aura that she exerted by merely being there, that suddenly made Serge both intimidated and uncomfortable. And he had no idea why. "No, he's not one of mine. He just...landed here, then fell off his wyvern. He had a friend, but he...just went off, screaming." That was the short of it. In fact, that was all he could really make out of what happened. Serge slowly removed the helmet on the Deiran's head, being careful not to be rough with him. "As for the armor, I...don't really know how to remove it. Not properly, anyway." He said, finally getting the golden helmet all the way off. "If you have a staff with you, Miss Nona, I'd appreciate the help."
  17. "Woah!" Suddenly, the guy in the gold coat, after several seconds of kneeling over his friend, charged right past him and into the city, screaming his head off. Under the current circumstances, Serge would have left the fallen rider alone. It wasn't his business, and after everything, he wasn't ready to go about trusting random strangers not to be acting so they could stab him and take his money. But...the way he had run off, trying desperately to find help, made Serge feel differently. To him, it was a sign that he cared a lot for the rider. And, when Serge turned back to look at said rider, something in his gut just told him that he couldn't leave a dying man alone. Even with his paranoia screaming not to trust anything he saw. Serge walked over to the man and knelt down. Moving him was out of the question, as was using his Vulnerary on his wounds. With the armor still on him, there was no way he could get to anything. If he tried to take it off, he might injure him even more, but leaving him like he was now wasn't going to help anyone. None of the Crew was there with him to help, and he didn't have anything like an Elixir on him. What could he even do to help?
  18. Favorites Jill Fizzart - As much as I love the girl, I think she could have done with some sort of base conversation showing a reluctance to fight against Daein soldiers, at least when she knew she was going to be fighting them. Not necessarily on the boat chapter where it's Daein Soldiers disguised as flagless pirates working with the Crows, but maybe during the first chapter where they infiltrate that fort. Just some sort of "Am I seriously doing this?" conversation with Ike about fighting her home. Edward - More lines. More conversations. Just...more please? Instead of the Dawn Brigade beyond Micaiah and Sothe just gone forever? Least Favorite Peri - Why in god's name does she have to be an unlikable sociopath? Like, if she wasn't a retainer to Xander, maybe I wouldn't have such an issue with her personality of "kill" (that's a lie, I still think I would). But, as it stands, she has no business being a retainer for the Prince of Nohr, and instead seems far more like Hans or Iago, or just a stereotypical one time boss in a chapter that you're not supposed to think about too much. I feel like there are several ways to 'fix' her, whether she would become an enemy, have some actual development and repent for her actions of murdering her own maids for 'just because', or had a complete character redesign. My money is on the former two. Xander - I think Ghast put it best in that there are several different Xanders that we witness throughout all of Fates. And the one I want to see the most is Xander in his supports. Bring that version of his character out to the rest of the story, instead of someone who is blindly following Garon and completely contradicts who he is in his many, many supports. (excluding Peri). I want to see the brother that puts not only the well being of the people of Nohr, but as well as his own Siblings, first.
  19. Serge could barely make out what was in the sky before it came landing down in front of his face. Of all the things that he had expected from this day, a Deiran wyvern was not on that list, nor was someone wearing a big, golden coat. It was then the rider fell right off of the beast and onto the ground, an arm outstretched. Serge blinked, slow to process what just happened. Passage to freedom? Just what the heck was that supposed to mean? When the guards didn't seem to move, Serge decided to check out the two strangers and see what the hell was going on. He got off of his leaning position and jogged over to the riders and their beast, his hand ready to move to his sword if he needed to. The Deiran's were still at war with Wyke, after all. "What's happening over here? In case you hadn't noticed, this place isn't Deira."
  20. Serge had also come to recognize another thing that gave him a massive headache: a doublepost. Ever since the website Serenes Forest dot net updated, he had seen it happen to everyone. And in this time of uncertainly, he wondered if it would ever end. His money was on 'probably not.'
  21. Serge was silent as he sat alone on the outskirts of the city. Nights had been getting steadily worse for him, and the past few days hadn't been any better. No thanks to attempted suicide of his employer, nor the crazy episode the princess had. The arrest of the peasants that had interrupted the wedding made him only feel slightly better, as there was still someone that he would rather see behind bars than anywhere else. No one had been able to find Arteria ever since the wedding, though that was most likely due to the fact that he wasn't willing to send anyone looking for her, himself. Even if he did, it was likely she was either long gone, or an expert in hiding until the time was right. Of course, he held similar feelings for Cassandra, and still felt angry that she could go on without any sort of punishment. She had ordered the deaths of not only Hans and Lars, but Sebastian as well, which thankfully the serial twin didn't follow through with. Then again, the potential death of her lover was arguably punishment enough, but that didn't mean he had to like or accept what was given to her in the end. Serge's ears caught a conversation between some guards. Once again, they were talking about the possibility of people escaping from the asylum, as if these tense and gloomy days couldn't get any worse. The bad weather certainly wasn't helping. Regardless, it was yet another reason Serge was now carrying around his sword with him. He needed something to defend himself beyond a boot, after all. Just in case another incident happened. Serge places the Wingclipper in the Convoy, takes out the Thunder Sword and places in inventory, equips Iron Sword. With his employer now gone, he didn't have many reasons to stay with Owen's group beyond him having no where else to go. He wasn't eager to start up another contract, that much was true. Serge had thought it best to place the commands of the employer first, but Adele's rage had easily taught him everything wrong that could happen with such a line of thinking. Thus, he wasn't really sure what his stances on jobs were, anymore. It had all become so complicated. And all it gave him was one massive headache.
  22. I mean, I was going to be buying it ASAP, regardless.
