  1. "Just...Any sort of meat will do! Alright?" She yelled one last time from inside her room, before she heard Christina leave. So much for giving people a chance, she thought. If I knew any better, that call was just to make me doubt everyone around me. Of course, it was a possibility that Elaine kept in mind. But, the fact of the matter was that she was called, in her room no less, by a person she did not know, who knew about a meeting that they should not have, and knew what happened in said meeting. They had introduced themselves as Louise Park, no doubt an alias they used often, and as the second Lieutenant of Apotheosis, and even tried to get her to join over her anger with...well a lot of people on the ship. Elaine walked over and sat down on her bed, once more. She was angry about the situation, yes, but now was no longer the time to be angry. Now was the time to think about it, carefully. There were several ways that Apotheosis could spy on them, even in just the meeting room. After moments of deep thought, Elaine came up with three different options. Number 1: Apotheosis members had somehow placed a bug within the meeting room, whether it was on one of the people that attended or being placed within the room itself. Number 2: Someone was a mole for Apotheosis, supplying information that they heard and witnessed directly to them. Number 3, and by far the scariest one: Somehow, Apotheosis had hacked into their surveillance system, which meant they could still be possibly watching her, right now. Elaine didn't have any conclusive evidence for any of them, given that it had been just one conversation. And she doubted that it would happen again...
  2. oh noooooooooo we're gonna have to kill nice lady that saved us from the ocean, aren't we?
  3. Elaine's thought process was interrupted by the sound of Christina, and she nearly jumped as a response. She turned, seeing the door was still closed, and took a quick moment to catch her breath and compose herself. "Uh...Steak and a Salad!" She yelled out to Christina. Elaine should have probably specified what she wanted earlier, but it was a bit too late for regrets. The entire conversation with Louise had honestly made her forget that Christina had left to get food for her. Wait...Wasn't Christina ex-Apotheosis?
  4. The communicator automatically turned off, the connection having been severed, and it left a fiery red-head standing alone in her room, unsure of what just transpired being real. The small pain on her hand from hitting the wall told her that it was. Now, she wasn't sure who she could trust, or which side to believe in. The moral grey area had never been as big as it was now for Elaine. On the one hand, the ANF had indeed planned to nuke Colony 1 should the Riese pilots have failed. With Colonies 2 and 5 compromised as they were, according to Louise, it was logical for them to do the same to them. But, then again, why should she believe anything a Leiutenant from Apotheosis says to her? For all Elaine knew, they were telling her well crafted lies to sway her to their side. But, if they were right, then how could she still remain a part of the ANF? They expected her to follow every command to the letter, regardless of how she felt. To the ANF, she was a soldier. To Apotheosis, she was a possible recruit. And to the EU, she was a former convict. None of them were anything close to what she wanted. Yet, how much longer could Elaine 'play hero', as it were. Being a hero wasn't just some lofty dream she refused to let go off, no, it was something she strived to become. Someone who could save those who were being threatened. But, with all sides having no remorse to the death of civilians, how could even protect any of them? There were too many uncertainties for Elaine to focus on, each of them swirling in her mind like a chaotic vortex. So, she took a deep breath, and closed her eyes, choosing to instead focus on what was certain and known by her. The ANF were willing to nuke an entire colony of people should the need arise. Apotheosis were just as willing to kill innocents to further their goal. She, as a soldier, was expected to follow such orders and obey. She was now on bad terms with the captain, and been given one last chance before being thrown out. Colony 2, her home, as well as Colony 5 and the Earth were being attacked by Apotheosis in order to wrest control from the two major powers. Finally, there were two people on board who knew about her criminal past, Captain Jessica and Cheryl. ...Things did not look good for her. Elaine reopened her eyes, and looked down towards the floor. As far as she knew, she had just been contacted by a 'Louise Park', a lieutenant to Apotheosis, and offered a position within that very group. That meant that there was some way they could hack into the communication systems the Riese had, not to mention vanish without a single trace. Louise was able to, at least, recount her anger and being slammed onto a table, which meant she had at least known what had happened within the meeting. Either they were also able to hack into the monitoring systems or...there was a mole. But, even with that much information, Elaine couldn't go to anyone with it. As Louise had said, 'no traceable call, no evidence, no source'. Hell, they might have been recording the conversation, and had enough dirt to make her look far worse, and Elaine would have was her own word. Who would believe her? ...Who would believe her about anything? Everyone had seen her lash out, and so far, she wasn't exactly trusted by anyone. Her interactions with Tarquin were a testament to that. Even if Makoto could put in a good word for her, that wouldn't help anything. She was in a poor situation, her mistakes adding up, and Elaine had no one to blame but herself...
  5. Claire had spoken up, and thankfully wasn't trying to go towards Cassandra. Still, Serge kept his stance, and did not move. In reality, Serge was holding himself back. He could easily take out his anger on Cassandra right now and end it. How else was he supposed to repay someone who ordered the death of his mercenaries just because she wanted to. But, the consequences would be far too big for him to deal with if he even tried, assuming he would make it out alive, afterwords. So instead, he had chosen to go on the defensive. Serge looked back at Claire. "I think we should go after Owen. If they still want to get married then let's just-...Adele?" Serge then spotted Adele holding a glass shard in her hand after turning his head to the door of the cathedral. She didn't seem to be paying any attention to what was going on around her. All she was doing was staring at the glass shard. Serge braced himself for what she might do, expecting her to start lashing out at people.
  6. "'No one else'? You seemed to be pretty friendly with Arteria! I bet she'd love to be friends with you!" Serge kept an arm in the way of Claire. "Why don't you go follow her?! You know where she went out! There you'll have all the freedom you want!" Serge would not let her anywhere near Claire at this point. He wasn't going to lose anybody else. Especially not to this psycho princess.
  7. Was it over? Had things finally gotten better? ...No. No, it hadn't. Arteria had left, but he had seen what he needed to see. Cass's true self had finally shown, as did Adele's, and now... Now he couldn't look at them the same way. But...There was still Claire. Claire was still his friend, right? And with the risk of Hans' and Lars' deaths, he wasn't going to take any chances. Serge to (6,5), rescue Claire "You get away from her." He said, putting himself between Cassandra and Claire, and placing Claire behind him as he stood in the way of both the princess and his... former employer. "You think I'm supposed to believe that? You think that I'm just supposed to let everything go and believe you because you're crying? No. That's not happening. Not after what you've just said and done." "The peasants are one thing, but that lady...she showed up because you let her! And now, it's obvious why. It's painfully obvious!" He could never trust her. Even if she says she is sorry, even if she truly never considered how she would feel if her brother or Claire died, he didn't trust her. "You said it yourself. 'You don't care.' How long before you stop caring about Claire? Or your brother?!" Serge shook his head. "I'm not letting that happen."
  8. "...Cass. No. No! NO! YOU CAN'T DO THIS!" The horrors kept coming. Cassandra had finally snapped. Hans and Lars were about to be cut down by Arteria, because she said so. Niko was right. Niko had been right about nobles the entire time. They didn't care. They didn't care about anyone like him. And now, he was paying yet another price he wasn't prepared for. "HANS! LARS! RUN! GET OUT, NOW!" He yelled, now hysterical from everything that was happening. Then his eyes widened once more. "Larissa. Where's Larissa?!" He was scrambling to his feet. He didn't have a weapon to stop this. What the hell was he supposed to do?!
  9. "I will go after Owen when you have calmed the hell down." He said with his arms outstretched the block her path. If these people were 'walking excrement' like she said, what did that make him? "You are completely losing it! This entire situation has gone out of control, and if you-...CASS! WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING!?" Serge was just in time to see Claire aim a spell of conjured fire strait at Arteria, only for Cassandra to step in the way and block the blast with her own body. Claire suddenly let fierce flames out from her, the likes of which he had only seen from Malaphar, and felt the heat from across the cathedral. Cassandra was now engulfed in fire, and the smell of burnt fabric emanated from her body. Serge had a look of complete horror over his face, both from the power that Claire had used, and what Cassandra had done to protect the murderous sister of Apellon. Serge stepped back two spaces from the altar, and slipped and landed flat on his ass. Whatever was happening he couldn't understand. What the hell was wrong with everybody?!
  10. "...I'm going to ask you, again. Who. Are. You?" The more she spoke to this woman, the more Elaine felt like this was not a person to associate with. This Louise was offering her to leave the ANF? What sort of group could possibly be out there that would let her be the hero that she needed to be? Was this someone from the EU? A third party? Or...No. No, it couldn't be. No one from that group could be contacting her!
  11. "I..." How was she supposed to answer that? 'How did someone as angry as her exist' is not a question she ever got. And it left her speechless for a moment. "...I got a temper. I never knew how to keep in check. ...Didn't have anyone to teach me how." Elaine didn't know why she answered. Every single part of her screamed to turn off communications and wait for Christina. But, she answered either way, curiosity getting the better of her sense of danger. "Not any parents at least." She mumbled. Her parents had always been so busy, there was no time for her to teach her anything. It was why they had sent her to her admittedly just as busy Uncle. But, her temper only started flaring as much as it did...well, after the day on Colony 2. After that day, she had become much more aggressive. But, she wasn't going to say that to a stranger.
  12. The voice that came out from the communicator was from a woman, that much Elaine could tell. She could also hear the condescending tone from the woman. But, she wasn't pissed off by it. Far from it. The voice that came out from the device unsettled her. She didn't know who it was, or how they knew about what happened in the meeting. Elaine had frozen in place, standing in front of the communicator, confused and uncomfortable. "Who is this?" She asked. "Who's speaking to me?"
  13. "This isn't about money! Is that all you think I care about, Baron?! Or is it just because I'm not as rich as you, you think I don't have morals?!" Serge was just about done with Esclabor, as well as this entire wedding. Everything about this was wrong, and it was stressful to the point of insanity, much like everything else had been since he was hired by Niko all that time ago. "That old lady over there you're badmouthing is one of the few people with any sense! We should be trying to reason with these people, not just beat the ever living shit out of them!" Serge looked around one last time, and decided that he was fed up with all this bullshit. "Hans! Lars! Change of plan!" Serge yelled. It was time to take control of the situation as best he could. "You make sure that man stays alive! Sebastian, same to you! That man and woman are in danger and need to get the hell out of here! Once they're out, you go and search for Owen! And you," He said, turning to Esclabor, forcing him to face him and grabbing him by the collar of his shirt. "We are making sure that nobody else gets hurt, and that psycho bitch doesn't kill anyone else. Including my men. Do I make myself fucking clear, Baron?" Intimidation was not something Serge did often, but even he knew Esclabor needed convincing in one way or another. He aggressively released him from his grip, picked up his slightly ruined boot and placed it back on his foot. If he had to, he was going to use his fists to fight. Serge to (7,8) Lars to (10, 2), Hans to (9,3) Sebastian move to (9,12), hopefully receive healing from Constance on ally phase Esclabor better move his ass on over to (8,8), or else!
  14. Heeeey Cybil. So about that spear... In all seriousness, glad to see this back, and I'm sorry to hear that shit has been going on for you, my man. Anything you wanna talk about through PM?
  15. Before he could say anything, Hans and Lars had decided to go against his orders, and by extension Adele's orders. Serge turned to face the altar, and his eyes widened at the sight. Adele, tripping a fleeing peasant, a child no less, and punching him square in the face with absolutely no remorse. Further back, an amused Arteria, looking at both of the axe brothers who now stood in her way of a peasant next to the priest that was meant to wed his employer with the princess. To make matters worse, Arteria was proposing the idea of cutting down both of the brothers... to Adele. And at this point, Serge wasn't sure how she would respond. To call him scared would be a massive understatement. "Hans! Lars! Get the hell away from her! NOW!" He yelled, knowing deep down that they wouldn't listen to him. The crimson red that dropped from Arteria's blade, and the feeling of murderous intent that was written all across her face, should have been clear to the both of them. Yet, Hans and Lars both stood there, seemingly ready to let themselves be bodies in the way of her. But Serge wasn't. Serge was no where near ready for another person to be gone from his life, much less two of them. Serge's sight then fixated on the child next to Adele, and his gut turned. He was already out of the will to fight, but Adele still cruelly made him fall to the floor, before kicking, or rather punching, him while he was down. Then, he looked over to the kid that he just hit with his own boot, now unconscious and also on the floor. And the realization of what he had been doing finally hit him. This was what he was being told to do. Everything about the situation was making him feel terrible. From the peasants of all ages trying to stop a wedding over their blind faith and beliefs, to his employer's uncaring attitude towards their well being, much like the many nobles back at the Colosseum, to the psycho that had been invited by the princess. What was he supposed to do? On the one hand, they were aggressors in the situation, bringing makeshift weapons and trying to hurt people, even capturing one of them. How else was someone supposed to respond with that other than self-defense? But...on the other hand, this was going too far. Making them run away is one thing. Beating them to a pulp and murdering them was something else entirely. Serge was shaking his head. He was done. This wasn't what he stood for. This wasn't what the Hearthfire Crew stood for. Serge faced Adele, concerned, yet resolved. "Adele. This has got to stop. We can do the wedding somewhere else, or something! Who cares if it's official? As long as you two are together, it shouldn't matter, right?" Serge was desperately trying to reason with her, trying to use things that his parents had said about their own marriage. "There doesn't have to be a ring. There doesn't have to be a priest. All you have to do is be together, right? Please. Just call this off. Just call her off. No one needs to die over this!"
  16. "Thanks." She had nodded, watching Christina go off to the mess hall. The awkwardness of the conversation had passed, and hopefully wouldn't return when she did. And as she saw her disappear around the corner, Elaine felt a small smile on her face. Even from the small interaction, Christina seemed nice. Certainly nice enough for Elaine to give her a chance over someone like Nikolai. The admittedly unfamiliar ringing noise gave Elaine a spook as she turned to see the wall mounted communicator within her room. She had honestly forgotten about the device, and couldn't recall anyone ever using it in her time aboard the Riese. Everyone seemed to use the wrist communicators more often. Regardless, Elaine stepped away from the doorway, the automatic door closing behind her, and walked to the device. She had wanted to take the time to be alone, though that didn't appear to be an option. So, Elaine pressed the button to accept the call. "Hello? Who is it?"
  17. Serge just looked at Adele with a shocked expression, completely silent as he was healed by Sebastian. The sorry state of his boot was the least of his concerns at the moment. Adele's words were concerning. These people were still pretty defenseless against them, and even if they were the aggressors, not caring whether or not they died...disturbed him. "...A-Alright, Adele. You're the boss." He said, then whistled to the both of Hans and Lars. "Oi! We're going after the peasants with Owen! Come on!" Serge moves to (8,12), punch child Lars and Hans move to (7,10), cannot punch
  18. That was an odd request. They barely even knew each other, and the only time Elaine ever really saw her was in the cockpit of the Mark III with Kim. And even then, there wasn't much of a conversation, as Christina had just moved past her to get out while Elaine spoke to Kim. So, she wasn't entirely sure how to respond to Christina's offer for help. She certainly wasn't Cheryl, someone who was paid to listen to people like her vent. Plus, she had wanted to be alone in her room. Yet, so many others on the ship seemed to trust Christina. But what could she do? "As nice of an offer that is, I-" She was cut off by the sound of her own stomach growling. She had eaten breakfast earlier than others that morning, and hadn't gotten a chance to get some lunch, herself. With an embarrassed sigh, and a slight flush on her cheeks, Elaine looked back at Christina, once more. "If you really wanna help...Can you, like...I dunno, get something for the both of us to eat? Then we could just talk for a while, or something. Down here, preferably." While Elaine didn't want to turn down Christina's offer, she also wanted some more time to herself, so she could cool off. If she was going to give her a chance, might as well do it over a full stomach. "Is that alright with you?"
  19. "I'm..." Elaine had been stomping, that was true. And she couldn't well deny that she was in a terrible mood. That much was plain to anyone looking at her. Subtlety was out of the picture, as was lying about how she felt. She couldn't even force a smile. So instead, Elaine huffed, and took a moment to find the right words to say. "...I've felt better. Would be better if I didn't have to-... Just...I've had a rough day. Hasn't been getting better. At all." Another moment of awkward silence as Elaine stood in the doorway, with Christina still outside her room. And as they stood there, bits and pieces of what Jess had said back in the briefing room began to come back to Elaine. Specifically, the ones that had been drowned out at the time. Comments on how no one had had any issues with Nikolai and Christina wandering the ship before. Well, Nikolai hadn't stepped up and tried to talk her down in the worst possible way, nor had he gone as far as to taunt her about being hero. But...Christina wasn't Nikolai.
  20. The healing light from Cassandra's staff revitalized Serge to more acceptable standards, with some of the bruises he received disappearing off of his skin. He would have thanked Cassandra, had she been paying attention, though she was more focused on the murderous pale woman near the altar. There was still no way Serge could take her on, so instead, he opted to continue the first task of defeating the peasants that were so rudely interrupting the wedding. Serge moves to (9,8), attacks Peasant Man #7
  21. The knocking upon her door snapped her to attention. Who could have been bothering her, now? After what just happened? Was is Nikolai or Tarquin, come to put her down some more? Or was it Cheryl, being sent by the captain to evaluate her? Either way, Elaine wanted to be left alone. The knocking persisted, as Elaine lay down on her bed trying desperately to ignore the sound, hoping that whoever was at the door would get the hint and go away. They didn't, and the knocking continued. Eventually, she caved in. "Alright! Alright!" She said, hopping back on to her feet and walked back towards the door. She undid the lock, and opened it. "Just what the hell do you-" In front of Elaine was an unfamiliar, yet recognizable face. Christina, one of the people that they had captured from Apotheosis, now free to roam the entire ship, was at her door. "...Hey." The situation could not be any more awkward. She had just come back from a discussion about suspicions of Christina, Nikolai, and Abigail. She felt uneasy. Not scared, like she was of Nikolai, but after the entire conversation, of which she had mostly spent breaking down, it was...ironic. Perhaps this was a higher cosmic power telling her to give people a chance. "...So. What do you need?"
  22. Immediately, Elaine placed her now free arm in front of her and felt her wrist. Feeling came back into her hand, and with it a slight pain, but she could move her fingers, again. She looked at Jess one last time before stepping outside the room. Out in the hallways, the first thing she saw was the infirmary, and thought about Makoto. If he was anywhere, he should still be there. But, instead of paying him a visit, she turned to the elevators. She saw several groups separate from each other, conversing with themselves. Elaine was still far too heated, and so she stayed away from all of them, hoping to get to the elevator unnoticed. She felt like she was going to explode, staying so silent like this, but there were far too many people around. Including the goblin boy, still speaking with that bloodied and broken nose she had given him. She grimaced at the sight of him, and turned the corner towards an open elevator. As much as she didn't want to admit it, she was uncomfortable, no...she was scared around Nikolai. Afraid that he would open her up, again, and look inside. She didn't trust him not to, even after his apology. An apology where she was sure he called her a whore. All she knew about him was that he knew enough about her to press every button she had...and that he smelled terrible. She stepped in, the door closed, and she brought her arms up and hugged herself. "Dammit...Dammit!" Deep down, she was thankful that Jess hadn't even brought up the jail time, which Elaine was still kicking herself for being so stupid as to tell her that. But, she couldn't get over how infuriated she was at the captain, either. "No more mistakes," She said, quietly. "No more mistakes." They weren't mistakes. Not to her. But no one wanted to listen to that. No one wanted to know how she was standing up for her beliefs. Her temper was all that mattered. The door of the elevator opened, and she quickly walked out and towards her room, praying still that no one saw her. She counted the doors in her head as she walked, keeping her from breaking down further, until at last she reached her own designated room. Her head turned to the side, and she though of taking the captains advice and speaking to Cheryl. She was a therapist, and one of the few people on the boat who gave her thoughts the time of day. It was her job, after all. The door to her room opened, and Elaine, slowly, stepped inside, deciding that she would rather be alone. It was not wise in the slightest, not that she had been one to make such decisions, according to the captain, but it was one she made, nonetheless. She sat down on her bed, trying desperately to calm herself. But, like before when she had escaped from the prison back in Italy, she felt alone. Truly, completely, alone.
  23. 'At people who deserve it,' Jess had said. As far as Elaine was concerned, Nikolai did deserve her anger. But, no one else saw. No one was able to see her side of the argument. They didn't want to. Even after everything, even after erasing her own record, nothing changed. Everyone was still against her and her actions, regardless. She had long admitted of making the mistake of trying to take that Velite out on a test run, but ever since then every decision she had made would just send her into a downward spiral. And now, Elaine was being given an ultimatum by this stuttering excuse of a captain. She certainly didn't feel threatened by Jess's words, but she was still the one with the power and authority on the ship, for some god-forsaken reason. "Then why don't you tell me something, captain." She said, finally speaking up after a moment of silence and scowling. "What would you do? If someone just walked up, took everything that you stood for, stepped on it, and called you nothing more than a piece to be used, or anything similar? Would you be able to control yourself? Or would you snap back, and tell them to go stuff it?" Elaine paused and looked Jess straight in the eyes. "That's what's wrong with me. I can't stand people like that. People who think they can just tell others that their worthless and shouldn't strive for anything! People who want to crawl under your skin, stab you, and twist the knife until you're nothing but a crying mess on the floor! So tell me, Jessica, what the hell would you do?!"
