  1. I wouldn't be surprised if Tana got a promotion in the end, she's the same level as Cormag is now.

I'm going to keep a save at chapter 8 regardless, since it's a pretty cruicual juncture anyway. I'll just have to see how things go. And yeah I'm definately going Knoll route.

Ok, that's probably a good idea. Tana might offer Cormag some competition, but how would you plan on promoting her without the whip (maybe the master seal)?

  2. Remember he'll only be level 6 out of chapter 8, so he's probably not promoting until Chapter 12 or so anyway. Other than maybe chapter 14 (where 8 move units are really bro) I can't think of where it would save a turn.

Unfourtunately Vanessa replaces Cormag, so she won't be recruited.

And I'm not actually totally sure if I can get there in 6 turns, I might be overestimating my ability to kill Tirado without Syrene.

I suppose, I mean it depends on what route you're taking but I could see the extra move being useful in a few chapters like 12A, but it might not actually save any turns until after like chapter 15 or so. I do think it'll be nice to have another promoted flier eventually (and Tana and Vanessa are out), so it might still be a good move to pick up the whip (assuming you can manage 6 turns) unless you plan on using the chapter 15 master seal on Cormag over someone else. Again I haven't thought about whether it would save actual turns, but I wouldn't be surprised if it helped in like chapters 17 and 20 for example.

  3. Im thinking Cormag's unpromoted stats will be suffice until promotion anyway, since they're all going to be pretty high (except speed)

The extra movement might help but ehhhh

I don't know much about LTC'ing, but it seems to me like having a promoted Cormag this early is worth 2 extra turns. I mean having a Syrene clone for earlygame can't hurt. And for mid-late game, it should help out in the desert at the very least (unless there's another whip before then, not sure). Then again, if there are other good fliers you get before then, it might not be worth it. I'm not really sure which fliers are good in reverse recruitment (might get a decent Vanessa or something really late but I don't know). I should probably take a look at that spreadsheet before I say anything else.

    But that's probably just me.

  4. It may have something to do with Emblem Saga (TearRing Saga) and its related lawsuit. Likely they're just covering their asses.

This is probably the most convincing theory I have heard so far.

Either it means nothing or it's just for this reason. I don't think it is likely that it is connected to any new game, but hopefully I am wrong.

  5. I liked Chapter 21 and watched the long version because I like seeing every single move you do. I like how the team you have now is so varied.

It makes me really happy to hear that people watch the long versions! Apparently most people shared your sentiment since the fast version accumulated only one view, so I won't bother making fast versions now unless people request them.

I also find it a lot more fun when playing with a varied team. I've been planning to get a variety of classes since I started this run (although some things popped up like the halberdier duo, sniper duo, and swordmaster duo). By the end, I will have used every class except the following:

    - Lord

    - Bow/Axe Knight

    - Cleric and Valkyrie

    - Assassin

    - Princess Crimea

    - Heron

    - Hawk

    - Lion

Of these, the only ones that would have been possible for me to get are Lord (if I promoted Greil), Bow/Axe Knight, and Hawk (there are no good enemy hawks anywhere in the game).

Also, pegs 4 life. I think most of the things you did this chapter were going to be a lot more frustrating without dem fliers.

Yeah, the fliers were definitely useful. Interestingly, there aren't that many different opportunities to get fliers in this kind of run. No falcos, two PKs in 17-4, a bunch of level 15-19 wyverns in 19 and 20, and only like 2 Wyvern lords level 1-3 (and actually, the wyvern riders have the better stats). In any case, I am really glad I picked up the fliers to help with missions like that.

Update: I uploaded a characters video for the small subset of people that watch the videos but don't visit this topic. It is the exact same thing as the descriptions under the characters section (in fact it is just a compilation of screenshots of this forum topic), so if you read the characters section, there is no need to watch the characters videos.

  6. Chapter 22 is up (10 and a half minutes)! I also added a fast version (9 minutes) of chapter 21 because apparently 16 was too long for most people to bother watching (no problem, I totally understand that). Both the fast and long versions of chapter 21 have links in the chapter 21 section.

Currently working on rearranging the chapter sections a bit (links are now after the chapter writeup) and updating the characters section.

Put simply, theres a reason why I did not even bother to question myself for using Calcs and Orlandu in Vanilla >_>

Haha, good point. This is one of the reasons why I like FFTA better. Apparently there's an FFTA difficulty patch too, has anyone here checked that one out?

  8. -The time consuming one: Leave Ramza in level 1, Grind the rest of your team members and steal equips from random battles, then after you are at an incredibly high level or have a high level gear, dismiss all your units except Ramza. Now you have high gear and you will be against level 1 enemies.

-The regular way: Use Ramza as least as possible and have 2 different parties(4+4+ramza), each one with different class sets. This way you will not be overleveled, and will also be using diverse parties for diverse situations.

Both of these are pretty clever. I definitely find the second one more appealing. I wonder if it is a better idea to go back and recruit more level one guys (kinda like what Arvilino said) or stick with the same 2 groups throughout the game without dismissing anyone? I'm assuming the latter because of skills and classes.

  9. The scaling sounds interesting, as if it actually encourages no grinding. I wonder if grinding for skills/job access rather than just for levels and stats would be feasible though.

And, you might of answered this in the other topic, but is it harder than Luna+?

Also, sorry for forcing you to make this topic, but I figured you never can be too careful nowadays.

  10. Why are they blushing in the middle of a warzone is what I always wondered. Certainly not the time to get flirty. Otherwise, it's a nice detail I guess.

Same reason Forde is painting in the middle of a battle in FE8, I suppose: for support characterization. Very few supports in the older games actually made sense in the context of a battle, and the same is true of many of the awakening pair up event tile convos etc.

  11. I had a similar thought, I was thinking, FE8 Random Reclass LTC run? Gonna depend on the random reclasses.

Yeah that fooled me at first too. As for me, I have to continually remind myself that everything isn't 0% growths after watching a lot of 0% growths stuff lately.

It's gonna be pretty funny when Seth shows up and is terrible.

  12. Yes. FFT1.3 is ridiculous. My ass started getting handed to me since the 3rd battle and it didn't stop. You need to be an FFT master to beat that stuff.

It's a difficulty/balance patch of FFT by the way. But it is possible ( but I couldn't beat it because of a glitch in the final battle when the final boss entered it's second form).

This definitely sounds worth checking out. What aspects does it "balance" exactly? The game always struck me as fairly balanced. Also, does it account/allow for grinding?

Edit: Maybe we should make a new topic for this, this conversation is kind of off topic.

  13. Oh wow that's actually a nice plan.

Thanks! Like I said, I stole the general idea from Espinosa (so I can't take credit for the whole "fly over and and drop a melee unit next to the sage while someone else baits" part) but I had to modify it in order for it to work with my crappy units (I added the shade scroll as well as the physic among other things).

  14. How did all those wyverns not end up killing that lone peg O_O

I can't believe it actually worked either :awesome: ! I've had strategies before that looked good on paper and didn't work out, but this one actually went over pretty well.

The shade scroll can work wonders when you have someone who can take hits baiting. I'm actually surprised it isn't used more often for this sort of thing.

  15. . . .

    Joshua is a Pegasus Knight.

How do you expect to survive his crit? I'm afraid your knights don't exactly fit the bill of being. . . knights. At least Joshua and Natascha have equal move now.

Also, do you think you'll promote Joshua to Wyvern Knight? The class doesn't see much use, and having both a high crit chance and a chance to do double damage with pierce could be pretty devastating. . . though don't hold your breath if they both activate at the same time. IIRC the freeze glitch still occurs on emulators.

I will admit that he misses out on swords-and the Audhulma by extension-but by the endgame, the primary enemies against a strong melee flyer like that won't be axe users so much as it will be strong snipers, warriors, or magic enemies like Arch Mogalls and Medusa. I would vouch that using another character against those kinds of enemies would be more advantageous.

I agree. Wyvern Knight Joshua would be pretty sweet! Also, he could always just use Seth to bait Joshua, unless I'm overlooking something.

This run is pretty interesting, I like how you beef up enemy stats in addition to doing a not-so-random reclass.

  16. Chapter 20 was brutally difficult. It was probably the hardest chapter since chapter 4 (and the hardest legitimate chapter XD). I tried doing it the usual way once but got swarmed by cantoing wyvern riders so I gave up on that. I ended up taking a page out of Espinosa's book by trying to 4 turn this chapter. The lack of Reyson (and Stefan) meant that I had to shoot for a 4 turn rather than 2 turn clear, and I had to get really creative (and more than a little lucky) to pull it off (and yeah, having the PK was a HUGE help). In the end, I had to waste a ton of goodies (Shade, Vantage, Wrath scrolls as well as Seraph Robe, 2 Dracoshields, Boots), but it was worth it since I don't see myself doing this chapter any other way.

Anyway, an update will come either really late tonight or around midday tomorrow, as usual.

  17. Also, refresh my memory. How would he get the character's pallets to display on monster classes?

It's called Manual Insertion, like what we had to do with FE8MR.

Klok, thanks for answering that one. Mainly since I had no idea what the answer actually was! I don't hack the GBA games.

. . . I mostly suggested it just to see Seth crit out the ears with a killing edge and +15 crit.

Swordmaster Seth is pretty cool, but why settle for that. How about Berserkaseth? Although, unless weapons are being switched (which IIRC they aren't), you don't get a killer axe for a while so never mind.

Other classes that come to mind that I rarely see in player reclass runs are Soldier, Assassin, and Gorgon.

  18. Umm, when I recommended the peg, I was assuming you'd BEXP her to promo and give her good forges :P. Also, why no thunder forge on that Sage?

Yeah I realize that's why most people recommended her. BEXP was banned, I should have been more clear about that. Also, as for both forges, by the time I remembered to trade the lance to the PK and forge the tome it was too late. I did forge her a really good javelin for the next chapter though (and aside from that and the forged iron lance I already had, her low STR means there weren't really any better forges that she could put to good use).

Oh well, it only took her an extra chapter or two to promote, and she should still be pretty useful, so we'll see. But yeah, you're right, I might have messed that up a little.

  19. Sorry guys, I lost the save file for this game, so I guess I'll have to start over.

Everything is going to be re-randomized, but I'll let you guys choose what Eirika will be again!

So how about it? What do you want Eirika to be?

Cavalier is too bland. Cyclops is decent although I'd go Mauthe Doog->Gwylligi. It's not a bad class but one that you don't see very often in these kinds of things.
