  1. Her hair is also WAY longer. Guess she wanted to look a little different from her sisters
  2. They're all from the UK, so it's consistent and derived from Celtic languages. It keeps things differentiated but interrelated. The only character who has a REALLY out there name is Sothis which is from an Egyptian goddess
  3. "Garreg' is Welsh and means "stone." Mac is Gaelic and means "son", it's why a lot of Scottich names are one like "MacDonald." It fits considering that "Fodlan" is a corruption of Fodla which is Celtic in origin
  4. And it does look like the previous VA guesses were correct. -Byleth (M): Yusuke Kobayashi - Arslan (The Heroic Legend of Arslan), Senku Ishigami (Dr. Stone), Subaru Natsuki (Re: Zero) -Byleth (F): Shizuka Itoh - Irina Jelavic (Assassination Classroom), Tomoko Higashikata (Jojo's Bizarre Adventure: Diamond is Unbreakable), Tachibana Ginchiyo (Nioh), Widowmaker (Overwatch), Brighid (Xenoblade 2) -Jeralt: Akio Ohtsuka - Solid Snake/Big Boss (Metal Gear Solid), Iskander (Fate franchise), Garon (Fire Emblem Fates), Wamuu (Jojo's Bizarre Adventure), Batou (Ghost in the Shell) -Edelgard: Ai Kakuma - Flora (Fire Emblem Fates), Lala (Monster Musume), Almiria Bauduin (Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-blooded Orphans), Yuri Sakazaki (The King of Fighters XIV) -Dimitri: Kaito Ishikawa - Genos (One-Punch Man), Tenya Iida (My Hero Academia), Nero (Devil May Cry) -Claude: Toshiyuki Toyonaga - Yuri Katsuki (Yuri!!! on Ice), Mikado Ryuugamine (Durarara!!) Anyway, finally getting some info on the story and gameplay. Some notes: -So Jeralt used to be associated with the Knights. His leaving will likely be a plot point -It just occurred to me that Beleth's sword has a hollow in the middle of the crossguard. However, in the debut trailer there's a gemstone set inside it -This is definitely another macguffin -Sothis speaks in an antiquated fashion. Yeah, she's probably a goddess -Info about the Houses indicates some interesting specialization. Edelgard has a focus on magic, Dimitri on melee, and Claude on bows. This is really going to change up strategies and makes me wonder how this will affect the story and map selection. -The ranking system makes it clear there's going to be specialization while still offering flexibility. We'll see how this affects the level cap.
  5. Okay, who found my fanfiction (not kidding here, I actually wrote a Fire Emblem story that was essentially that, though without the day/night cycle)? In all seriousness, this is the first time I ever heard about it. But hey, Castlevania meets Fire Emblem is definitely an awesome idea.
  6. So, Koyasu has a perfect track record for FE entries. Not surprising he finally plays a lord
  7. Because too many people have no sense of humor about this series. Anyway, I expected the hype machine would roll out right about now with the game being a few months away. It looks like we confirmation of what Byleth's weapon is. Of course, this now brings up what it IS, because that's the sword first seen in this shot from the reveal trailer: https://serenesforest.net/wp-content/gallery/three-houses-e3-screens/NintendoSwitch_FireEmblemThreeHouses_scrn02_E3.jpg First of all, that's a BIG sword, probably around four to five feet long at the least so about the same size as Ragnell. Secondly, it's clearly old, ancient even In the screenshot it's cracked, like it's on the verge of crumbling. In fact, it doesn't even look like metal. It looks more like stone or even bone. Heck, the latter could be completely possible due to its blade having segmentation. One side even has ridges like a saw. Considering how prominent that is, this is going to be the Macguffin weapon, like Falchion.
  8. More info released by SEGA, including the new mecha: https://gematsu.com/2019/04/project-sakura-wars-details-story-setting-characters-and-mechs
  9. It makes sense considering how his job was adapting Kubo's style to animation. And now the poster that Kubo made for Shonen Jump is out in the wild. We even get previews of the battle suits:
  10. Weirdly, SEGA France uploaded a clearly unfinished version of the trailer on their own channel that revealed some interesting story tidbits: https://www.animeherald.com/2019/04/03/anime-herald-analyzes-the-french-project-sakura-wars-trailer/
  11. The cover story of this week's issue of Famitsu will be Sakura Wars: Also, it looks like Weekly Shonen Jump will have a Sakura Wars poster:
  12. I remember this. Has a really interesting premise and the ability to have different NPC partners is intriguing. I remember it was supposed to be out last year, but Bandai-Namco suddenly indefinitely delayed it and it's been dormant ever since. Makes me wonder what happened
  13. Samantha Ferreira of Anime Herald analyzes the reveal trailer: https://www.animeherald.com/2019/03/31/anime-herald-analyzes-the-first-project-sakura-wars-teaser-trailer/
  14. The games are pretty newcomer friendly and get you up to speed, save maybe for 4 which is pretty much an expansion pack for 3. Starting from the beginning is fine, but 1 and 2 are kinda aged due to the battle system. Just keep in mind you'll be spending WAY more time in the visual novel side of the game mingling with the female cast than in the strategy side fighting demons.
  15. Considering Kubo's style I expect "boin boin."
  16. Ironic that the character who retired is the first confirmed to return. Also, this means brace for a Sumire redesign
  17. Wild guess, his master is Ichiro's sister Futaba aka THE MOST TERRIFYING WOMAN IN THE WORLD. Anyway, awesome that the series is coming back and finally getting an overseas release. It's PS4-only now, but I can't see SEGA NOT making a Switch due to how much the system is selling over in Japan. After all, Valkyria Chronicles 4 didn't get a Switch announcement until the PS4 version was released in Japan. Also, Samantha Ferreira at Anime Herald spotted a neat little Easter Egg in the trailer:
  18. Considering how Persona has become the hot property for RPGs, it's clear that school settings are completely fine with audiences on either side of the Pacific. Furthermore it's something new for Fire Emblem and puts a unique spin on things. Heck, even the school setting has a couple of unique twists by 1) being set in a military academy and 2) the main character being a teacher rather than a student. Those create new dynamics and allow for a different sort of progression.
  19. Sirius doesn't have the same connotations as Venus, mostly because it depends on culture. Sirius is a Latinization of "seirios" which means "scorcher." For the Egyptians, the star was actually meant as a symbol of a good harvest as its rising indicated the flooding of the Nile (it rises during the summer solstice) thus why it was deified. For the Greeks, the star was something of an omen as they believed it coincided with bad harvests due to arid summers, same with the Romans (hence why its name means "scorcher"). Furthermore, Sirius is where we get the phrase "dog days of summer" because of that (its constellation is Canis Major).
  20. Her fashion sense is weirdly making me think "Kiria, but even Gothier."
  21. Uh, Corrin is criticized all the time, has things they cannot overcome, and makes all sorts of mistakes no matter which path they're on. In Birthright they are literally incapable of beating Xander until Xander gives up due to losing the will to fight. Conquest is almost a deconstruction of a Evil/Renegade path, showing that Corrin was WAY too naive in thinking they could somehow "change things from the inside" (seriously if a nation is in the process of conquering, of COURSE they're going to hire sociopaths who commit war crimes willy-nilly). And even in Revelation there are consequences for their actions, like Yukimura refusing to join them and Takumi's inherent distrust of them leading to Izana giving his life in order to rebuild that trust. They're not presented as infallible.
  22. The eyes make me think of Kazuma Kaneko. They're done very vibrantly, making you zero in on them immediately
  23. Considering one of FE's biggest draws has been the Support system, there will DEFINITELY be romancing. The whole main character being a teacher...yeah, that's gonna be an issue. If they go through with it that's all sorts of problematic. Maybe they'll do something with how you can't S-Rank students or how they can't be S-Ranked unless they graduate or whatever. Furthermore, can we please get some other instructors in there? And put some other LGBT characters in there. I was fine with Niles and Rhajat (it especially made sense for the latter), but the more the merrier. Also, for the love of Naga, let's NEVER have the Soleil thing again. Liked her character, but that support was...YOWZA
  24. After putting her name into Google Image Search, we'll be fine. Heck, here are some samples of her other work:
