  1. Alrighty, I’m finally back with another update! Sorry it took so long, I was really not expecting this kind of a delay. I promise the next one will be sooner. [spoiler=Chapter 7] Oh good, I’m sure it’ll be a nice, restful visit. Dammit The only new enemy in this chapter are horsemen. And here’s the boss. Yet again, he lacks a ranged weapon. The crew. I still feel like I’ve got a ton too many units. Conveniently, I get even more! Why would you ever use either of these guys? I’m pretty sure Ogma’s better at base. Also Hardin and Marth start way the heck down there in the dinky little village with the fail-Mercs. I trade over this sword to Hardin… …So that I can send some Tomes directly to the convoy for more convenient access. Also, the Shop music is way better than I was expecting. And then a few trade chains later, voila! Plus this one. This shop came just in time; I was worried I was going to have to blow the entire Mend on minor things. Also the Armoury sells Killing Edges. In chapter 7. This is beautiful. (The new Mercs are too shitty to even use them) I had no idea how Manaketes actually worked in this game other than the fact that they were different than in the new ones, so I figured I’d give it a try. They just kind of shift on the map for a few turns. Sadly, it changes his adorable little old man with wings map sprite too. I’m pretty sure “Enemies spawn from forts” has been a village tip three chapters in a row now. Also I left Abel in range of a Horseman and kinda forgot that Javelins mean that anything with any AS will double you. And here comes the horde. Hopefully mountain Ogma can dodge some things. A few of them go after Wendell and he leaves them in perfect chip range. The rest throw themselves at Ogma’s sword in vain He gets the same level twice while he’s at it. He also only dodges one of them. Bantu best char I sent in Vyland to try and wreak some havoc but Horsemen don’t take effective damage from the Ridersbane so he kinda pokes one for pretty much nothing instead. Castor and Merric pick off the ones Wendell left behind Then all the enemies clump up against Bantu but attack other guys Also: this guy’s got a Silver Axe as loot but is running away across the lake. I’m not using any axe users, but Shiida’s going off to take him out anyway. Bantu 1-hits armours. Apparently he hits Res. Ogma hits promotable level. Still no promo items yet, though. Apparently enemies won’t attack Bantu if they can’t damage him. Level-less combat montage Bantu’s degenerated from deadly to adorable again Shiida fails a shot at the pirate because Sea gives a 30% avoid bonus. Vyland picks off an armour and gets his regular essentially useless level. Speaking of levels… And with that, most of the enemies are gone. Merric takes out that last archer Shiida pulls off a risky (see: idiotic on my part) dodge and snags the silver Y’all know how this goes by now. Psh, not likely …He finished me. Let’s jump back here, shall we? Merric gets a way better level this time anyway, since he finally got some strength. The forts are blocked. That stupid box was really inconveniently in the way. That’s more like it. If anyone’s gonna get a lucky crit, it should be me. Another chapter down. Suddenly Catria flies in …And, she’s gone again.
  2. Are you pushing Start on the screen where you choose your units? That's the only place that lets you start the chapter, as far as I can tell. I once thought I had a problem with my emulator and spent an hour trying to fix things when really my start had just been re-bound to a key I wasn't thinking it was on, so it could just be something simple like that.
  3. Hey y’all, I’m back with a new chapter. I’ve got a bunch of distractions going on at the moment, so updates might be a bit sporadic for a while, but I’ll have at least one up every few days. Conveniently, there are like 800 other LPs suddenly happening right now to distract you from mine not updating. :P [spoiler=Chapter 6] Onward we go! Dude, there’s like 5 of them, chill Is every battle henceforth going to be “Intense” or “The hardest” or something like that? New guys. Dragon knights are fantastic, Myrmidons are Sevr from Gaiden. These guys are here too. I wasn’t sure if they were faking me out or what, since the only one I knew for sure didn’t join here was Est. The crew. Unit limits are awkwardly huge. Minerva gets off her Wyvern to talk to the General and it has a cute little sprite by itself. It’s most likely just the flying dragon Manakete sprite, but I thought it was a nice touch in a series that’s known for having people fly up stairs on their mounts. This guy’s kind of a dick I don’t understand what kind of dirty tactics she’s against here. Charging us with 6 fliers? Reinforcements from the forts? There’s nothing particularly nasty going on, all things considered. Also my units ended up in the stupidest spots possible. All my two rangers are too far away to hit the archers and my powerhouses are too far from the front lines. Plus, Julian can’t reach the random outside door. Also, you can’t fly over walls in this game. I guess they just didn’t differentiate indoor walls and outdoor walls, but it’s still pretty dumb. I bought a few Javelins. I’m thinking that maybe magic isn’t buyable and I’m not very fond of that thought. The fliers have all started charging and I was expecting Minerva and co to GTFO so everyone’s fleeing for their lives … and I was fine all along. Holy balls Dragon Knights have a ton of Defence Fortunately they’re still bow weak Merric level. Still no Strength. Still feeding Vyland With the Whitewings gone I’m on the offensive again This is a much less threatening chapter without them I was trying to wear this guy down but I forgot to check his stats and just wasted Blizzards Don’t worry Bantu, I’ve got your Dragonstone right here. …Maybe you should just stop talking and join up now. Lookit dem sick stats. Vyland why won’t you return my affections I’ve been so good to you Like, he’s only marginally less useless than he was when I recruited him. Abel baits the Armours Then you know who finishes one of them off Wendell gets a heal level. The skill is nice, since he’s got 2 base. Meanwhile Marth has to sprint from Bantu’s village and won’t be doing anything any time soon. There’re the reinforcements I’ve been waiting for Abel lives with a convenient 1 hp and gets a boss level while he’s at it Shiida gets one of them. She’s got great speed, but after seeing the Whitewings and their existent strength I’ve got a feeling she’ll be left behind fairly soon Ogma takes on the boss and kinda wrecks him. Armourslayer OP. And the finishing blow. He’s just short of leveling. :( Then like three turns of waiting later, Marth makes it to the castle to seize. Then this dude whom I still don’t actually know the name of decides it’s a good time to pop in and plot at me about dragons. None of it was particularly mindblowing; it pretty much boiled down to “Medeus is a bad guy and has an evil dragon country also Anri killed him forever ago”
  4. Sorry about not updating yesterday; Imgur refused to upload my images so I figured I’d give it a day, since that’s worked for me in the past. Yeah, what Bo said, Roshe isn’t actually bad, but other than his 1 Luck lead, Hardin matches or beats him in everything. Couple that with the fact that I’ve got 6 cavs at the end of chapter 4, and it makes him not so desirable as a unit. I considered Wolf good because he’s the best at filling his niche (mounted archer), which is something that only he and Sedgar can do right now. [spoiler=Chapter 5] That was their main force? It was like, 20 guys, tops. “Reclaimed” New enemies. Mages are apparently terrifying lizard men. Here’s the crew. I meant to take Wolf over Castor, but I didn’t. Castor will undoubtedly be better trained, anyway, so he’s probably the better choice. The thieves aren’t random looters, they’re actually stealing on his orders, apparently. I traded Julian’s door key to Draug, since he won’t be doing much with his low move. I also didn’t remember whether Rickard needed Marth or Julian to recruit him, but luckily Julian was close enough that I could check. Since it wasn’t him, I had Julian go loot the first chest. Everyone heads off except for the two recruiters, who are unfortunately some of my best units. The only thing I know about Rickard is that everyone used to think he was a pretty lady and not a dude. Like Lucius, but unintentional. I also get this old guy. Unlike most random old men, he’s actually really good. There was a thief by a chest up to the north that I would have needed to fight through a bunch of tough-ish enemies to get at so I just bit the bullet and blew a warp to stop him without needing to stress. (Also Lena leveled from it) Enemy healers are a pain no matter which game they’re in. Ogma levels while soloing the top corner of the map The thieves have started looting. Fortunately, I can just kill them and get the stuff. Marth and the mages are too slow to be of much help yet, though. Hardin knocks the armour down a few pegs with a Silver… Then Shiida finishes him off and gets a great level. Finally, some strength. And while we’re on the subject of feeding kills… Hardin snags both his first level and some sweet loot. We’re getting all the cool things right at the start of this game. Magic is a lot less stupidly powerful than I was hoping it would be. Hitting Res is great but my mages have practically no Strength. One of these days he’ll get a level that isn’t totally useless and then I’ll be the one laughing. Ogma takes out a thief and gets himself another level. He doubles them, which is pretty nice. I had to use pretty much all of my units to take out all the enemies clustered at the top so that no one would be alive to wreck 1hp Ogma. Vyland’s kinda too weak to do even finish most enemies off without a better sword. Bishops make everything look way more exciting. Last chest, and it doesn’t disappoint. Oh yeah, you know where this is going. Healing Level. She only really cares about Strength, if she doesn’t get it than who cares. Levels while I make my way to the boss. The third one’s Abel, by the way. I can’t quite taste it from way over here, sorry. Try a ranged weapon next time, like 20 weight Javelins. Vyland and Merric tag team the boss. Vyland was actually the stronger of the two with the Armorslayer. And that’s the map Nyna promotes Marth into a thief.
  5. Another day, another chapter: [spoiler=Chapter 4] Finally, an actual army instead of random bandits. I know they’re around the same, combat strength wise, but it feels better to be fighting something plot relevant. I don’t care how juvenile it is; from the moment I first got him in Shadow Dragon I haven’t been able to call him anything other than Hardon. Also, I figure I’ll stick pointing out new generic units at the start of chapters, since they don’t really fit anywhere else: …Archers appear to have forgotten to take their pants into battle. My extremely vague memories of Shadow Dragon have the Hardon brigade joining like, way later than this, for some reason. Two of the new guys are good The other three… leave something to be desired. Also: horsemen don’t get swords in this one. I kinda figured that would be the case. I think that means every class only uses one weapon type. Marth’s squad heads out. Guess who didn’t check enemy ranges? Julian best thief Something tells me that Castor isn’t gonna see much more use now that I’ve got Wolf Nabarl is pretty much just bad Ogma. Obvious foreshadowing Shiida miraculously survives a bow shot that I wasn’t expecting. For some reason I don’t seem to have any awareness of how far enemies can move yet. Lena’s first heal. The music is not what I was expecting. I wonder what the next chapter’s going to be like? :P Draug hits level 3 and fails to proc a single stat yet again. Marth gets another village and I get my first magic user. He’s gonna be useful, since most enemies have virtually no Res. Dem stats. If he wasn’t hitting Res he’d be hitting the bench. Actually, Xcalibur usage would still probably put him ahead of half my guys. This is the point in the chapter where I abruptly and irrationally decided that I really like Vyland and started feeding him kills. Despite Blizzard’s ~90 hit I think he missed at one of his shots every time I attacked with it. Thanks for the heads up, random alcoholic. One of the thieves had some pretty sweet loot. Shiida’s getting pretty good levels; I just wish she’d proc strength. I did not know this guy was on the map Fortunately, Horsemen make great bait. He explains that they were going to execute him if he didn’t fight and she gets all upset he didn’t just try and walk away. This recruit convo goes on forever and just keeps getting more awkward Vyland’s first level. I’m too used to Abel spoiling me. Reinforcements started spawning and charging at me, so here’s Vyland’s second level. At least it’s stats I kinda like this time Shortly thereafter I was being overwhelmed and decided to rush the boss with Merric before either Lena or Vyland died. A nifty 5 stat level for Merric Wolf nabs a straggler before I gtfo ‘Scuse me there Mr. Armour Knight, but my army’s just gonna squeeze on by you into this castle real quick.
  6. As useful as that would be, it definitely goes against the spirit of a blind run. Anyway, here’s the next chapter: [spoiler=Chapter 3] If this is his biggest challenge then taking back his homeland is gonna be cake. Weapon stats were there all along. Also, Javelins apparently have a whopping 20 weight. It’s a good thing that AS stops at 0. Suddenly more units Lena, you’re crazy if you think I’m gonna let you blow a Warp use in chapter 3. Chapter start! Marth, Ogma, and Abel go west toward the boss, the rest of them go either north toward Nabarl and co or just sit uselessly in the deployment area. Th… thanks bald old man. (He gave me a Devil Axe.) I was having Lena stick back so that she could recruit Nabarl but apparently he’s another dude that Shiida has to flash her boobs at instead. Here’s a bandit, by the way, since I said I was gonna show off the portraits. Sexiest Fire Emblem dude, right there. Barst and Nabarl prepare for the enemies They don’t last very long I have Abel bait in Hunters over by the boss and then have him dismount since he can only double with swords. His stats appear to be the same on foot? Suddenly everyone levels up at once. Shiida got Skill on that level, too, but the others leave something to be desired. Abel’s cutting it close. I might have stuck him in range of three enemies with 5 HP left. Castor decides to get a level too Just the boss’ crew left now. I’m not sure if Marth is always this great or if I’m just getting all of the luck back from my god awful Roy, but I’m not complaining. Also, I’m pretty sure Marth has a 5% Res growth at most. I stuck Shiida here to bait a bandit… But they both went for Ogma instead. Great level, though. Dismounted strats Fed the kill to Abel I certainly won’t remember you. The first three bosses all have the same face. Time to move on to actually plot relevant chapters Who is this guy again? Marth’s advisor or something? He doesn’t get introduced; he’s just kind of here all of a sudden.
  7. Yeah, I found it out pretty easily a few minutes ago messing around in the preparations screen for chapter 3. I'm sure I'd tried pressing x on a weapon in Chapter 1 and gotten the weapon stats screen minus weight and weapon level for some reason. Also, I know I can switch which deployment slot each non-Marth is taking up, but if you can't see the deployment spots than it doesn't do very much good. :S I was under the impression that crits were double RN-ed too. I've quite probably just been wrong all these years.
  8. Here’s the next chapter. It would have gone up earlier, but Castor had a bit of an… accident. [spoiler=Chapter 2] Oh boy, start of the game bandit chapters are my favourites. You get the preparations screen right from chapter 2, which is nice. It’s pretty much got the same things going on as in the GBA games, except you can’t reposition your units. There are definitely going to be more enemies on this map once it starts. Also, if you save here, you get a cute little Anna New units get. Ogma’s a beast. Also, apparently 7 move is standard for swordsmen for some reason. The axemen, not so much. Barst isn’t so bad, but Bord and Cord are like half of him, each. Ogma’s really good. Crit seems to be skill% (or possibly skill-luck%, but enemies have their luck stat dashed out so it doesn’t come into play on my side), so his 11 skill coupled with the fact that it’s a 1-RN game means he crits constantly. And here’s his first level. Pretty stellar, imo. And here’s Draug’s first level. No, I didn’t miss the cap, he actually didn’t proc any stats. Something tells me he’s gonna hit the bench once enemies start actually hitting for damage. Marth’s baiting out those cavs. Get owned A certain very blue redguy attacks Shiida brings him over to my side with the power of money. Fortunately, it’s out of pocket, so I don’t have to care. Gaggles gets the thwomp level Draug wished he’d gotten Clearin’ out some pirates Abel gets a pretty great level. I’m actually kinda sad I’m not getting skill, though, with how strong it is in this game I visited all the villages, but they’re all just boring start of the game how to play things. More levels. Shiida’s is just one level, but if you get more than three stats it has to scroll since there’s no pretty window. Will do, bald old man. I need a stick user really badly since Wrys ended up just being a vulnerary. Vs the boss. I sent Marth in to chip him down, since he’s pretty much my second best unit, after Ogma. Shiida gets the kill. She was at too low exp to level, though. :S Chapter 2: clear! Screenshotting long conversations is a lot harder in this game because they all just scroll through the one text box instead of having every sentence or two be a whole thing like in the later games.
  9. I said I was going to do it, so here it is, my second screenshot LP: FE3 Pseudo-Blind Adventure! (Title Pending) Essentially, Im going to play through both books of Mystery of The Emblem and record my progress here. Im going to start with Book 1, where Ill be using whatever units I happen to feel like at the time and get used to the feel of the game. Once book 2 rolls around, I'll probably set some limits, but I'll cross that bridge when I get there. The reason that Im calling it Pseudo-bind is because Ive played through Shadow one and four-ish halves times, so I know vaguely what happens sometimes. Like, I know that Shiida/Caeda recruits a bunch of random males with her sex appeal, so Im going to probably use her in anticipation of that happening, and I know that I need all the star thinges for Starlight, so Im going to get all of those, and that kind of stuff. Im not going to look anything up, though. Also, my memories of the plot are essentially Marth was on an island and then got some balls and turned them into a book to beat Gharnef. Then he got the Falchion and got warped to a dragon and won the game, so the plots pretty much a mystery to me, too. Anyway, before I start wallotexting even more, heres the first chapter! [spoiler=Chapter 1] The title screen! Im using the new patch, but the updated title screens apparently in the next version. Lets do this thing. Wait, Marth is 14? Thats like, a baby. I agree Ah, gotcha, a timeskip. And heres the crew! Marth, Draug, Gaggles, Kain, Abel, Shiida, and Jagen. Im gonna use the NoE names for the most part, because theyre the ones used in the patch, but I may end up slipping up and flip-flopping. Or Ill just give them stupid nicknames. Also Gaggles has always been and always will be Gaggles The status screen. Im gonna explain things for people whove never played the game before (most people?) as I discover them. Units have two inventories of 4 items each in this one: one by their head for weapons, and one by their stats for non-weapons. Also: Marth has 7 move. Thats ballin. Mounted units can use Lances while mounted, but can also dismount to turn into Knights, which are essentially Mercenaries. Thats why theyve all got lances and swords. They can mount and dismount whenever, but if its an indoor chapter they get forced onto their feet. Im pretty sure theres a stats penalty for dismounting, too, but Im not sure how steep it is. Enemies have sick pixel art portraits. Ill stick them here whenever I find new ones as long as I can remember to. Also: enemies have Exp, which Im 90% sure is how much they give when you kill them. Anyway: doing things! Marth gets the village since hes the only one who can in this game. The pre-combat window. You cant see your stats and the enemys stats at the same time, which makes seeing how much damage youll do/take kind of a piss off. Yay old things! The battle screens a pretty, though. Much nicer than the DS ones, imo, but Im a fan of pixely stuff. I also kind of hate everything about the DS games art style. I actually visited all the villages since Im still kind of lost, but this was the only useful one. If you look up at the status screens again, Weapon level is just a stat with a number in this game. How you know what weapon level you need for a weapon is a complete mystery to me at this point. (Dont tell me, its part of the fun of it being blind) I send Draug out to tank the pirates. He only takes 1 damage from them, but I apparently never capped it. Im 99% sure the weapon triangle isnt a thing until FE4, too. Seriously, 7 move. This kid is a track star. Gaggles and Marth pick up some kills. 32 is the magic number, this map. I dismounted Jagen to see what all the fuss was about and he snagged a kill too, since he could apparently double. Apparently promoted units dont get reduced exp. I leave Marth to dodgetank the herd of pirates since dodgetanking is the #1 specialty of all sword Lords. My first level. He also got Weapon Level and HP, which is apparently at the bottom of the list. FYI, the level up fanfare is not what it is in all the later games, and its kind of jarring. My first crit. The game tells you what damage you do and take in a little window at the end of a battle, and its kind of just annoying. Also, if you cant move though a tile, youve got to scroll around it manually to get to one past it. You cant just scroll through and have it auto-path there. So much for burning RNs. Thats quite the euphemism Ohhhhh united like united their forces. That makes so much more sense. This chick is not Wrys. Her Vulnerary is not Wrys. Wrys is not in this game. Im pissed, he was a cool bald dude. Shiidas first level. Trading. Shiida I remember reading FE1 debate topics where people always brought up Shiida being able to use Jagens Silver Lance with only 1 WLev proc, and lo and behold, it holds true in this game too. Gaggles takes potshots at the boss. I was trying to feed him to Shiida, but Marth got another crit. Fortunately, hes growing way better than Roy ever dreamed of doing. And thats map 1 cleared He just kind of starts monologue-ing to himself Nice, Ogma's pretty sweet. His friends, not so much. He's pretty much just a village telling me I can recruit people Well, hopefully you managed to enjoy the first chapter. Itll get less This is FE3 and how it works and more This is an actual LP once I get used to it and things get rolling, I promise.
  10. Man, no Lucius? I know you've already got a light magic user, but I was kinda gunning for him anyway.
  11. How does rolling work? Is it a number from 1 through 5, or one character per row, or something completely different? Also, I'm looking forward to this, these screenshot LPs are my favourite part of these forums.
  12. Garret and Shin's average stats page don't have the page asking which mode to look at, so you can't access their hard mode boosts without changing the URL yourself.
  13. And that’s the end. I’m sad to see it go. Before I get carried away saying much more, here’s stats and stuff: [spoiler=Game Stats] Here’s my turncounts, in case you were wondering. I started off really slow, but things went pretty much where they’d be expected to be in a casual playthrough once I got going, other than the chapters where I grinded for supports. And that’s my final ranking. Pretty good, imo, especially given what I had to work with. [spoiler=Awkwardly Long Character Analysis] Roy was bad. That’s really all there was to it. Nobody should ever get a Roy with 8 Strength at 20/0. Plus, most of that Speed growth was post promotion, plus he got a wings and a robe. That said, he was invaluable in the early game for being my only sword user, and especially for getting the killing edges, which I quite probably wouldn’t have been able to win without. Wade was really good from around 1/5 of the way through the game until 4/5 of the way through the game, and that’s when I needed someone to be really good. He was definitely the midgame MVP, but 15 speed left him behind Dorothy in damage output at the end when he essentially became a heavy Sniper rather than an axeman. Barth was amazing for around the third quarter of the game, what with his stupidly high defence and strength and FE6’s extreme shortage of magic users that aren’t staff Druids. He was a tank in the true sense of the term, taking tons of hits and dealing back heavy damage but not actually securing many kills due to his pitiful speed. I’ve never thought of a pure tank as useful in Fire Emblem before, but Barth was a huge help. Wendy was so, so bad, and then I fed her that Energy Ring and she started getting strength procs. Her highest speed of the armours made her the best Maltet user, and she was actually pretty useful in the last few chapters. Before that she was just there for rare triangle attacks and being fed everything, though, so she wasn’t really worth it. Dorothy was another unit who started off pretty bad and then became good, only she took off as soon as she promoted and never looked back. Add that on to bows being way better in 6 than in most other games, and it made Dorothy one of my best units in the later half of the game. Sophia started off the worst, got fed every stat booster, was still the worst, got fed a bunch of kills, and then became the best unit in my army, bar none. She’s the only character who had that overpowered Fire Emblem feel. Y’know, the kind of unit who you throw into a gaggle of enemies and they’re the only one left standing on the next player phase. Plus, even with only E staves, she was healing for 40 with Heal, so she had great utility. Also, she’s best waifu. I have mixed feelings about Hugh. On one hand, he was one of my better units and hitting Res makes you good no matter what. On the other hand, he wasn’t actually good. All of his stats were too middle of the road to really do anything. He couldn’t actually finish anything off, and he never dodged anything. He has a sick colour palette, though, and being related to Canas gives points too. Oh Saul. You would have been so good if I’d been allowed to promote you. As it stood, physic support was invaluable to the point that I would even call it necessary, but his magic was just a little too low. Cath best thief I’m really glad I was allowed to use Lalum. She made a bunch of difficult plays more doable, and allowed me to be a bit more aggressive in situations that I would have had to turtle otherwise. Bors was super good early and then just fell off hard a little past halfway through the game. He got a ton of strength procs and hit C axes almost immediately after promoting for Killer Axes, but it just wasn’t enough in the end. Wade and Barth both made better heavy attackers, and while he had higher speed, it still wasn’t high speed, so he just kinda got left behind. Wolt was another unit who was pretty good early, then bad later. His support with Roy was really helpful back in the stages where crits could mean the difference between life and death, but when my archers promoted, they just kinda switched which one was the good one. Juno was quite honestly only useful for ferrying Roy into Sophia’s support range every now and then, plus a few other flying+canto related things. Combat-wise, she’s intentionally terrible. She will never wield Durandal. I had high hopes for Geese and he killed every single one of them my not gaining strength and speed. Douglas is just bad. Clarine was an extra Restore Staff once or twice, but that’s about it. Elen was so bad I didn’t even remember to cap her ending panel because it was so low under people I had to deploy to recruit random other units. 50% Mag growth my ass. And that’s it. Thanks a ton to everyone who commented along the way or even anyone who just read the whole thing. I’ve never done something like this before and I was kind of worried I’d just be typing these things up at nobody, but all of the responses were really nice. If you’ve been thinking of playing 6 Hard Mode before, I definitely suggest trying it out; once you get past chapter 5 (which, imo, is the hardest chapter in the game by a pretty easy margin), it gets a lot easier and is pretty much 8 Hard Mode level except there are a bunch of status staves lategame and you never face 7 Mag Luna Druids. I’ve had a lot of fun playing through this and writing these posts up, so I’ve been thinking of doing another one of these eventually. I’ve kinda been leaning towards FE3 semi-blind, since I’ve never seen one done for 3 on here and I hate the aesthetics of the DS Fire Emblems. I’d just have to figure out how to make snes9x screenshots not be the size of a small town, which is probably pretty easy. Anyway, thanks again, and I hope you’ve enjoyed reading through!
  14. Welp, here it is at last, the end of the game. It’s been a fun ride, but everything’s gotta end sometime, right? [spoiler=Chapter 24] I wonder what we could possibly find there? Here’s the final crew. Bors and Wolt get the bench in favour of vastly superior characters, such as Cath. Nice alliteration 90% of Roy’s lines in this chapter are either a variation on “What?” or something Jahn just said with a question mark after it. *Sex joke* Why did they have to make that a 1 square opening? It serves no purpose other than to slow you down before you’ve even started. Barth is a ridiculous tank with Armads. He also can’t double around half of the dragons. This playthrough has been severely lacking in shots of Apocalypse looking fantastic Might as well use the last few Warps I’ve got left. oops.png It’s the end of the game, so it doesn’t really matter, but it’s still kinda disappointing Worst chapter design. Obligatory dragonslayer Cath shots Third Hammerne goes to Armads And that’s the last Warp, too Ya done good, kid The Binding Blade was actually pulled from the bad fanfic dimension. If the dragons are all “I have no emotions” then why is Fa so emotional? An argument could be made for the halflings, since they’ve got human in them, but she’s a pure blood. Ridiculously last-minute A support Thank god Hugh is only allowed to proc one of Mag, Spd, or Def, even to the end. Well sorry it took so damn long to make it to you. One talking dragon down, one to go Aww *Insert link to Bad Dragon here* (Please please please don’t go to Bad Dragon) “Me Roy. Me no kill dragon.” [spoiler=Final] This is it Good counterargument, Roy. Obligatory hoodless Idun shot Pre battle quotes. Bet y’all haven’t seen Cath’s before, at the very least. Sorry Athos I didn’t know it was possible to have a Roy who couldn’t one-round Idun The waifu saves the day True end get Roy, Cecilia and Douglas were two of the highest ranking soldiers in the Etrurian Army. With your shitty stats, you’d fit right in. Y’know, just wandering through this desert I’ll have a unit analysis and closing thoughts really soon, so stick around for them.
  15. Here it is, the penultimate chapter. It’s kinda sad that things are coming to an end, since after this there’s just the dragon-filled plot hall and Idenn’s room of failure. [spoiler=Chapter 23] Game’s over; everybody go home. Roy, you’ve already got Sophia, do you really need another quiet purple-haired dragon girl in a cloak? It’s just Brunja with a sheet over her head going “Ooooooo” More poeticism Hello chest hair If your chances are that low, I’m pretty sure you’ve gotta give that title up. You are the only girl in the whole army, after all. Bern is actually Canada. Not like, fielded and helping here, but like, metaphorically here. The chapter begins with the appearance of friendly old Karel. "Only I spent the entire thing on the bench just kinda watching instead." He really mellowed with age. He also became not useless. 7 Karel would kill for these bases. And so he did. Hammerne for the titular blade. Barth does what he does best: goes off on his own and holds off an orgy of wyverns while the rest of the army actually does stuff Roy’s got enough strength to kill with a regular sword. I’m so proud. She missed one of the shots. :S I could just kill it with abruptly competent Wendy’s Maltet, but… Aww yiss. How many people can say they’ve killed a dragon with Cath? Not many, I’d wager. Also: she one-rounds wyvern knights. Giving the legendary weapons effective damage against pretty much every endgame mob was kind of a dumb idea on the part of the designers if they wanted lategame to pose any threat at all. This ballista guy was getting on my nerves. Barth hits double S One level to go. Unless he gets speed he might as well already be there I’m pretty sure Hugh has enough Speed to double the dragons in the next chapter, but I won’t complain about more This guy’s trying to mess up my fun, but I’m not gonna let him Durandal’s actually a hella good weapon, what with its 90 hit and essentially 22 might. Roy can just dual wield. Also, more Strength on Roy, sweet This shot isn’t important but it’s a sick shot of the wyvern I take back every mean thought I’ve ever had about the Light Brand before this chapter. Which was a lot, because I thought it was essentially useless. Less than fun fact: the Binding Blade doesn’t have effective damage on wyverns like the other legendary weapons, only on Manaketes. Barth’s last level kinda sucks Sophia spends the next six turns stickbaiting I only needed to restore her once Also, I had one statbooster left. Juno was just awkwardly holding on to it for the whole chapter *Procs Aether* Okay, seriously, what’s with all the enemies who charge at you and don’t attack? Roy level Look, it’s Bern’s ghost! Sophia’s last level. At least it’s the stat she needs most. I really wanted to steal her completely useless Guiding Ring, but that would have involved either putting Cath into Bolting Range or actually giving Brunja a chance to fight back. *single tear* Her parting gift was this fantastic level And with that, the last real chapter’s over Ninian feels more canon in 7, but Lyn definitely feels more canon in 6. Or, like, any tomes, since they’ve got shit Res and 1 range. If only my whole army was a bunch of Sophias. I doubt anyone has ever thought before. Also, with the end of this chapter, it's time to check the poll and see what y'all ended up choosing wrt Karel. ... It's a tie. 21 for, 21 against. I'm gonna throw my own vote in and... I've been using these guys for so long, it only feels right to use them through to the end. See y'all tomorrow for the not so shocking conclusion
  16. Are you kidding, that pun was beautiful. I'm jealous I didn't think of it myself. Also, here’s the next chapter, like I said. It’s much longer since it’s all snakey and convoluted and actually has things you’ve got to do other than seize. [spoiler=Chapter 22] Off to take down a king. The most poetic chapter title Realtalk here, ‘good character who’s on team evil because they’re in love with the evil boss’ is my actual favourite trope Those aren’t really soldiers. :\ Good one, Roy Step 1: Warp Barth past the stupid wall that makes the chapter something like six turns longer if you don’t jump it Poeticism is nice, but this chapter is really called “Roy Gets Fed All the Things” Berserk Staff #1. Geese is great stickbait. Roy was busy elsewhere, so Hugh actually gets the first level of the chapter Barth plods his way up to the switch. (I missed the Sleep Staff cap, but I got it too) Roy’s first level post-promotion. How unlike him; still no strength. Berserk Staff #2. For some reason it switched targets instead of spamming it on the same guy like every other stickman in the game seems to. Also Saul’s my only Restore user. Fortunately, Douglas can’t catch up to my army since I squirreled him in the corner on turn 1 in case he was the Berserk target then. I just kinda thought Geese meant he’d be safe. Sophia’s still the best anti-mage this is a Hero. Sophia's the best anti-everything. Light Brand for best endgame weapon Cath gets this side Plus, she levels. Now she’s procced Strength the same number of times as Roy. I’m thankful that Brave Bows weigh a ton, since they kinda leave enemy Snipers as sitting ducks. I’m less thankful that my Roy is still The Worst Roy. 1 Strength off of capping. :( Wendy has really stepped up her game Apocalypse best chip weapon. Roy worst Lord. Brave weapons are only threatening if they can charge your squishies. They should’ve given the switch guards Tomahawks or Runeswords or something. Berserk Doug was less of a threat than Fenrir Druids, so he managed to catch up So, I rescued Lalum out of enemy range and then accidentally waited with Juno instead of dropping, leaving her able to be doubled by a Druid. Fortunately, this guy got move priority, and so she got away with only taking 20 from the Light Sword’s fixed damage. Thanks, shitty AI! Douglas recovered, too, so everyone’s fine. Especially Dorothy. This is definitely a hallucination of some sort. Hugh has the most inconsistent levels Barth, on the other hand, only has so many stats left that can get. Meanwhile on the other side, Wolt of all people got hit by Berserk #3, and he was outside of Saul’s range to boot. Fortunately, he went after enemies anyway Then I baited him with Geese, who survived despite being awful due to Wolt also being awful. Back on the side of the map I actually care about, Roy takes this guy out with Durandal and goes back to not getting Str procs. 1/2 Like I said, not a threat Went to equip the Binding Blade and used it instead to heal 3 HP; best design feature. I keep typing SoS and I can’t call it that anymore and it’s sad (almost as sad as Roy’s strength) because BB just doesn’t work as a recognizable acronym. Saul got silenced. No more healing for the weaklings. Roy opens the door Last time I checked, making things happen in the future doesn’t change the past. “It just will be, okay? Jeez.” They’ll be fine He’s fighting a Druid here, since they’re the only enemies he can actually take on his own with 11 strength. Hugh needed this to miss in order for me to be able to win, since Dorothy actually got Sleeped by the Bishop who spawns when you open Zephiel’s door and there’re reinforcements running at her. I’m kind of on a time limit. I lied; Roy could take these dragons with the binding Blade even at base strength I’m pretty sure. Cath can’t let Roy get ahead in Strength procs Also, she can use the Wyrmslayer now. You know where this is eventually going. So, the Light Brand is actually more than twice as effective as the Binding Blade is on Zephiel. Plus, the Binding Blade’s kinda down to 4 uses left and Saul’s nowhere to be seen. More Cath Like I said, Light Brand best endgame weapon Cath for best endgame unit Without Cath there supporting Hugh, Forblaze was short of killing him and Dorothy would’ve died. Cath MVP. Also, the dick doesn’t even give EXP. Grab that chair, Roy. Chrom must be in trouble! Wait, why is the enemy base’s defence tied to the weapons of their enemies? That’s a pretty big design flaw.
  17. Yeah. Don't get me wrong, the new patch is fantastic for the most part, and a lot of things in the old one were just plain wrong, but a few minor things could have gone either way.
  18. This probably isn't the answer you want, but if you're trying to raise underlevelled units, the untransformed Laguz in this chapter are pretty great for it, and I believe they can give more than they would as BEXP.
  19. It's Darkness of (Revelation/Apocalypse). Apparently 'yami' (darkness) can also mean bewilderment, despair or hopelessness, which also leads to some fantastic translations (The Revelation of Hopelessness, c'mon), but those might be way more obscure uses of it since I've never heard it used that way before. My practical knowledge of Japanese is around that of a two-year old, though, so I could be totally wrong.
  20. The kanji used (黙示) translate directly into Revelation, even being the ones used in the Japanese version of the Bible for the Book of Revelation, but 'reveal' and 'revelation' are decently close in meaning depending on how you're using them, so either could work. Both are way better than 'silencing' was. It's also kind of a pun, because it can also translate into 'apocalypse'. (Actually apparently the first kanji is the one for silence so I can see where they got it if they just saw kanji they didn't know and looked them up one by one or something without checking to see if they were a compound)
  21. Here’s the last gaiden chapter, and it’s a super short one. I might put up 22 later tonight, since I played them both back to back and am sitting on its screenshots. [spoiler=Chapter 21x] More like the Shrine of Binding This is just Ohtz. He faked his death and dyed his beard. Again, this is a completely different title than the previous translation’s. Revelation is the right word, but Darkness was also the right word. Also, how sick would “The Darkness of Revelation” have sounded? That’s like, halfway between a 13 year old on Deviantart and a Yu-Gi-Oh booster name, except in the best way possible. I get that it’s because they call it elder magic every now and then, but still. Back to not-Ohtz, who is apparently invisible. These two were having a feelings jam, now back to the Roy Oh no, not traps. If only there was a way for me to totally not care about them at all. Here’s the crew …And, I’m Warpskipping it. I figured that I have half a Warp and a full Hammerne left, I might as well take advantage of them. The puny notSophia Druids are no match for the real deal This guy is more of a nuisance than a threat These guys didn’t get warped and fought off the guys who charged at them Levels happened, one of which was conspicuously less exciting than the other two Meanwhile, the boss This was the result of fighting the boss for 5 turns in a row Finally he missed a Nosferatu. Not so secretly an emo I Warpskipped a chapter and it still took me 10 turns. Have I mentioned how great I am at this game? “It might be Flux, though. My eyes are kinda always closed, in case you hadn’t noticed.” “It made writing my Legendary Heroes fanfics a lot harder.” Sophia will very much appreciate this Takeittakeittakeittakeit WHO LET MERLINUS TOUCH THE SWORD “Is… is this what sex feels like?” “…I think I need new pants” Y’know, like how the Mani Kati chose… YES Whooooo! Double digit strength! He’s still garbage why is he still garbage Then he just kinda awkwardly paces on place on the throne for like, 5 more seconds before the chapter ends
  22. Alrighty, here’s chapter 21. This chapter is just a dick, plain and simple. [spoiler=Chapter 21] 1/3 Wyvern Generals actually have Wyverns, and they’re the crappiest ones. I guess they couldn’t make him an actual Wyvern Lord because then you could trivialize him the same as the entire rest of the endgame dragons. I feel like Cog of Destiny had more enemies, but I guess that was done largely in secret, and so doesn’t really show up in the history books. The fact that a guild of assassins is on equal standing with the standing army of the strongest country in the world kinda speaks for something, though. *grabby hands* This is a lie; there are tons of enemy spawns later. I still don’t care about him He’s talking about Roy. Last time I checked, a level 18 General on a throne vs. an unpromoted Lord is physically incapable of being a fair fight. Suddenly Yoder “And by ‘fight with us’ I mean ‘give Dorothy Murgleis and then chill in the back doing nothing,’ obviously” Speaking of Dorothy, Yoder’s got convos with the church crew I had Roy Cnt the Speedwings in anticipation of him maybe becoming salvageable on promotion. Barth probably could have used it, but it kinda looks like he’s not getting a Legendary Weapon, so… Barth goes left, everyone else goes south. Spoilers: Barth doesn’t get a single crit on any of the Wyvern Lords. I sell some more junk, but don’t buy any weapons Sophia best bait, worst levels Barth has pretty shitty levels too, though he’s got two capped stats so you can’t really blame him This guy was not allowed to live. Barth can tank 20 wyvern knights, but as soon as you throw a Sage into the mix he’s toast Look, I’m playing Awakening …None of them hit her. I’m really glad that this spell exists in this game. The other two games had so few enemy fliers that they didn’t really need it, so it wasn’t that big of a loss, though. Bad levels all around …Or not. Wendy sneaks in a kill. She’s finally got decent combat stats now, it’s pretty nice. Barth status: still a tank These Pallies keep charging up and living with just enough HP that they’re easy Wendy food. …I don’t think I’ve referred to a Paladin as a Pally since I was 14. Do people still do that? Barth status: a little bit less of a tank And there’s capped Magic I cheated a tiny bit and let Yoder rescue Saul away so that Barth could survive. Sophia is a one-woman army and it’s beautiful More stats for my garbage Roy Juno’s main function is rescue-dropping Roy into Sophia’s support range Barth gets Speed, which makes this a great level Might as well use that Warp staff I’ve been neglecting the whole game Why are there two Knight Crests in the 4th last chapter in the game? Like, even if you’re using all of the knights and not using the secret shop, by this point it’s better to just bench them. Suddenly Gale …doesn’t attack? I’m pretty sure I remember being attacked by him in normal mode. Instead he’s just chilling here next to Barth doing nothing. Guess he's surviving the chapter after all. These guys have a butt-ton of HP Sophia’s also the only one with enough speed to reliably double So this kinda happened. That’s what I get for trying to skip ahead. Operation defensive positioning. Saul’s part of this operation too Can’t complain about Mag More AI shenanigans: these guys surrounded Dorothy but didn’t attack her GUESS WHO HAS TWO THUMBS AND FORGOT TO TAKE THE MEMBER CARD OFF OF ZEISS THIS GUY I thought the secret shop was in 23 I am the worst at this game The wyvern orgy was a lot less threatening than it looked like it would be. I had to blow some Forblaze shots since Roy would’ve been Silver Lanced by a Wyvern Lord, though. Wade crush puny dragons Ain’t nobody got time for this guy I decided to let Dorothy try out her new toy, too Seriously, two of them this late in the game Here’s hoping 1 on 1 fair duel This was completely worth wasting all of his exp Sweet ass stick level 4 turns to spare Just one chapter left and Roy can finally become hopefully relevant.
  23. The link on the Light and Shadow page goes to http://serenesforest.net/light-and-shadow/characters/introduction/ instead. That's where the other pages' characters are listed too, with all of the /characters being redirects that take you to their games' main pages instead of the character pages. There's an extra step listed on the pages (for example, Serenes Forest > Genealogy of the Holy War > Characters > Introduction) that isn't actually a page. There's nothing filling the 'characters' spot on any pages other than the New Mystery one. Also, in the Sacred Stones section, if you click on the third link in the path on any of the sections in the Sacred Stones section (eg, 'classes' in Serenes Forest > The Sacred Stones > Classes > Introduction) you just get a dead link, since it's redirecting to http://old.serenesforest.net/sacred-stones/ for some reason. Also, both forging pages and 'Falling Rocks' are broken in PoR. Alsoalso, several pages (I know of BB's item locations page and SD's cards page) have text with notes. There's hover text, but you can also click on it to jump to the exact same text as a footnote. Is this supposed to work that way? It feels pretty redundant. The footnotes at the bottom look and behave like they should be clickable too, but they aren't.
  24. Looking more closely at the Thracia page, a lot of mugshots seem to be pulling their images from the wrong place. Most characters who were in Genealogy (Nanna, Delmud, Sety, Ishtar, Celice, Altenna, Blume, Asaello, Janne, Arthur, and Daisy) are pulling their mugshots from that game, and Eyrios is pulling a screenshot from the Thracia general introduction page also titled "Eyrios". I'd assume the proper images have altered names and it just wasn't caught (Leaf is Leaf-1 and has his proper mugshot, but that didn't work for Nanna and I didn't try for the rest of them) or they somehow were allowed to be named the same thing but it just pulls the first one uploaded. I checked to see if the New Mystery characters with different mugshots were doing the same thing, but the whole character page for 12 page is broken, too. If New Mystery is doing the same thing as Thracia, something like 80% of the portraits have been slightly touched up, and Marth, Gordin, Shiida, Linde, Jeorge, Cain. Merric, Tiki, and Samson have been completely redrawn.
  25. FE1/11: Palla FE2: Luka FE3/12: Etzel FE4 Gen 1: Ethlyn FE4 Gen 2: Patty FE5: Dagdar FE6: Sophia FE7: Geitz FE8: Saleh FE9: Muarim FE10: Vika/Kyza FE13: Brady I counted Etzel as a New Mystery character, since the majority of people, myself included, never saw him in Shadow Dragon. For RD, I excluded PoR characters from it, otherwise Muarim would have still won, and by a fairly large margin.
