  1. On that note, Is there a tran/fanslation of the FE1 Manual? Do we even have scans...?
  2. Aren't triwing screwdrivers like $2 on ebay...? Then again a bootleg is just $10 lol
  3. I would've brought up Bartre dying in the English version if it actually made any sense XP And also, it's Marc with a c and not a K from everything I've seen, presumably to make it gender neutral...? I still see the 3 out of 4 letter similarity though, but I didn't bring it up because that's still a different name, unless both of the wikis are wrong or if c is interchangable with k in japanese. Orsin from Thracia and Orson from Sacred Stones are an example of why I'm so picky about the one letter. Either way, the issue of gender still is the nail in the coffin as it were. Unless Lyn is an idiot who thinks she's talking to a man when it's clearly a woman and other Einherjar recognize the fact it's a woman and vice versa. XD The circumstancial evidence just stacks too heavily against the argument of "Lyn is a dumba$$" though. I brought up FE8 and 10 to show examples of where canon in other games was changed in translation, not to provide a red herring.
  4. I also hate to shoot a hole in this theory, but the FE7 avatar is mentioned to be the same gender as the FE13 one. In addition, I think Lyn would be a straight up idiot if she can't tell whether or not MU is a boy or girl when she could CLEARLY do this in 7 (Or at least Sain and Florina can) and everyone else in Awakening can. Morgan is always the opposite gender of MU.
  5. Well, you yourself said Erika is more of a ditz in the English version, and stats, dialogue, and even major mechanics are changed moving to the english version. Off the top of my head, I know Tellius added Level based promotion in the English versions AND a set of Regalia that were not in the Japanese version in Radiant Dawn, so they're part of the English canon but not the Japanese one. A difference in headcanon due to language is plausable, but MU7 and MU13 have far more similarities than they do to 12 or 14, including general backstory and even appearance from what we've seen.
  6. I don't want to come across as nagging... but I do have a few questions. Firstly, is the translation for the main game at a point where you consider it done, given the current official names Nintendo has localized? No going back and changing the script (aside from names which I'll get to in my fourth question) in the future? Secondly, are you going to personally translate the Link Arena, or are you leaving that up to anyone else who wants a shot at it? (I'd try if I had time and knew how on earth to use nightmare- i cant get it past a blank screen) Third, and I guess this is going to be a "no"... any work on the Contest maps? Nothing dug up and no Japanese guy gave a cart/rom/sav with the Maps on it I presume? Eh, Probably not but I still wanted to ask in vain hope... Finally... my biggest question... It's been confirmed Einherjar are returning in FE14. If and when Binding Blade einherjar and weapons show up and some characters you've given a fan name show up... say (hypothetically) Jerrot is called Zealot in the official english release... would you update your patch to reflect more official names? No dialogue would be changed aside from the name itself, a one word difference... Idk if that's a lot of work or not (I've heard someone say one word can take 3 days)... but I wanted to ask. Thanks for this "Localization", regardless of the answers. I personally think you are a blessing to not just this site but the Fire Emblem fandom as a whole. The quality as it is and with the official resources you've been given is phenominal and I applaud you, Gringe. May all your battles be quick and victorious.
  7. YOU FILTHY FE CASUAL! (loooool) Happy Bday and sorry for lateness XP

  8. Well then =P It's still my headcanon at least for the English versions, maybe not the Japanese versions. Out of curiosity, what does the Japanese text translate to?
  9. Did Katarina RAR and Marth COY say they merely REMINDED them of Kris? That happens all the time in Zelda because each Link is a different person in the same green clothes excluding sequels and prequels. Lyn, however, was belligerent and insistent that she KNEW it was FE7 avatar. If Marth and Katarina say they have a passing resemblance, I think they might internally acknloedge they aren't the same. Besides, FE7 avatar has a black hooded robe and no backstory. That's not familiar at all lol. At the very least, the two have a similar appearance down. Not to say yours isn't a good theory either. It sounds good and I think it's nice to tie them all together. Heck, it would still work for the FE12 avatar even if 7 and 13 were the same thanks to time travel.
  10. It had a copy of an official label then... The cart doesn't seem to fit right in the console. Also, the fact it had no previous save data strikes me as odd unless the previous owner formatted it. Is the lag normal? The link to the recording works, yes?
  11. I feel like FE15 and up will treat the secret neutral option as canon so I'll save that for last. I'm doing my preferred pick last, not first =P
  12. So my headcanon concerning the avatars of FE is this Fire Emblem 7: The Avatar is the same as in Awakening New Mystery: is a unique individual not appearing in any other game Awakening: Is the exact same person who appeared a few thousand years earlier in FE7... I'll explain my theory as to how this is possible below Fire Emblem 14/if: Uncertain, looks 99% probable to be a new character My headcanon is that when Avatar's mother spirited her child away from Validar, she fled into the outrealm gate. The pair was sent through time and space, ending up on the continent of Elibe some time before FE7. This is why Validar never found the Avatar. The Avatar studied strategy, magic, and swordplay, becoming a master strategist and fighter. Eventually, Lyn finds the Avatar lying face down in a field, and the two journey together and Lyn returns to her grandfather. Some may not know this, but if you skip Lyn's story the player's character will not be present. Instead their lines will be replaced with comments from Marcus and other characters. You'll lose access to the Avatar Affinity bonus and the Afa Drops, though, so there's no practical reason to do so. It's my headcanon the avatar canonically accompanies Eliwood on his quest. Even if he doesn't appear in Eliwood or Hector mode, Lyn mode is 100% canon and the "adventures" the Lyn einherjar refers to specifically, although again, I reason the avatar canonically accompanies Eliwood. After the Avatar departs from Eliwood and naming his/her godchild Roy, he/she returns to his own time period in the world of Yllise and eventually becomes Grima's host, although by will or not I'm uncertain. It's possible the premonition at the beginning of awakening was in fact a memory in the Avatar's subconsious, and he/she never became Grima by will. And then the events of the bad future happen, the Avatar is split into two, Chrom finds the good avatar in a field, and Awakening happens. Are there any fallacies in the order of events...? Let me know what you think of this headcanon.
  13. Just wondering if there was a tool that would let me edit FE2, or if i'll have to learn how to hax.
  14. Fire Emblem If, that's what's on my mind!!!

  15. Ok can someone please clarify what the real label is with a picture??? A credible poster preferibly
  16. Juuuust to make sure this is a product of a bootleg and not something that happens naturally, as I've only played a ROM beffore, here's a recording of the issue on a Gameboy Player, since my GBA SP needs a replacement battery ATM: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B-iAfM05ObNtSU5ZM01OZ1Y0aXR1RmJra2N0MnRFSFlNNzlj/view?usp=sharing I'm pretty sure this doesn't happen normally, but the cart looks very official... just suspiciously new. It lags at the end of every turn during the autosave, the worst one being at the end of the video. I've heard horror stories of bad save batteries/chips (Still not sure which the GBA uses since I once got an error in Pokemon Leafgreen describing an "Internal Memory Card") in bootlegs, and suspect this might be the case. UPDATE: Here's some photos of the specimen:
  17. I'm vainly hoping that they won't release dual versions here and instead make the only version availible the Collector's Edition with all three paths, even if it's $10 more than an average 3DS game. If they do release multiple versions, I'm getting the collector's, and I don't care if I have to bulldoze the Gamestop to get it* *Legal Disclaimer: I will not actually bulldoze a gamestop. I will merely get a bulldozer and threaten to bulldoze it in the parking lot.
  18. I've made it my goal to buy every officially localized Fire Emblem before the release of FE14, plus any supplementary material. This entails FE7, the Bonus Disk for FE7 DLC, FE8, FE9, FE10, FE11, FE13, and all of FE13's DLC. I've managed to acquire a used copy of FE9, disk only. I also purchased for $10 on ebay what I thought was a legitiment copy of FE7. Label was official one, cart looked official, even had the numbers in the corner of the cart. But when I got it, the cart didn't fit in my GBA right. I panicked a bit, then as I played the game experienced horrible lag every time it autosaved. it was then I realized. I am playing a bootleg. I want to buy a legitiment copy so I can avoid any lag issues, are there any tips that can help in my quest? I understand 7 and 8 are the most heavily bootlegged, are there any concerns for 10 or 11? What websites should I use and avoid? If possible, should I check pawn shops? Any other advice would be much appreciated. P.S. If gringe reads this your patch for FE6 is awesome. Wish I could learn to hack FE2 lol
  19. Concerning her actual fate, I think she either: 1: is killed when Bern invades Sacae 2: Is killed alongside her husband Hector in that scenerio 3: Dies between Blazing Sword and Binding Blade or 4: she's alive and offscreen
  20. I had no knowledge of the Jagen archetype, but on my first playthrough I justified it as "He's old and doesn't have as long to live anyway". Frey's horrid stat growths in my playthrough made me regret not having Jagen as a crutch shield
  21. If I might delve into Zelda A bit... Majora's Mask is on the surface very lighthearted, but as you progress you'll start to notice the overarching theme of Death, or Shi/4, and the fact still stands that there is a giant moon waiting to kill everyone and everything that you see reach it's destination in the game over screen. Some of it, like Ikanea Valley, is very up front, while others are more fridge logic esqe. And going to the base mechanics of FE- a freaking selling point/ mechanic is that people die. Another thing that stands out to me is the implication of suicide with Lorenz in FE12, with the dialogue and sword attack sound implying it. There are two major crimes someone can commit when translating or creating- that is trying to make something darker than it is, which resulted in Twilight Princess which I don't particularly care for as much as Wind Waker, but antither crime is sugar coating it. The child hunts were very up front, so keep it that way, but at the same time if Narcian's rapism is simply alluded to in the Japanese text simply allude to it in the English text.
  22. Because children being carried off for ritual sacrifice by an oppressive Emperor who is possesed by an extremely evil God is G rated. I'm not saying it's 50 shades, but it is very, VERY dark by Nintendo's supposed G-rated standard.
  23. In all honesty, Fire Emblem is pretty dark on it's own without any "help", especially Jugdral. I don't think they should add anything dark for the sake of it, and they shouldn't remove any content to make it more PG. I say, "Tell us in the tounge of the English exactly what is told in the tounge of the Japanese". That is where I stand as far as story and dialouge goes with some exceptions like Jahn's speech at the end of Blazing Sword and Thundering Axe, and of course anything/one who showed up in Awakening for the sake of consistency. Make it as consistent as possible regarding FE7, 8, 9, 10, 11, and 13, (Esp 7 and 13, which should take priority over the other's terminology like "Halberd" rather than "Poleaxe") but aside from that keep the dialogue true to the source.
  24. Also a graphical error or perhaps merely inconsistency I found with the "Solo Animation" Options. I'll just show rather than tell: Compared to Blazing Sword and Thundering Axe (FE7) Just wanted to throw that out since it looks like it should at least say "off" and not "?]" Also in some areas I've noticed that units being carried are under the "Plays" stat rather than a "Trv" (Traveller) one. IDK if that's intentional or not? A similar thing is that it says "Supports" rather than "Allies" but I can rationalize and perhaps even agree with that.
