  1. Do they have to be much different from nomad troopers? It could mostly be a flavor thing, combined with different stat bases + caps (Rangers could be more balanced and sword-focused, Nomad Troopers might be all about speed and bows), assuming caps will be important in this hack.

  2. Hardin himself doesn't aggro, but when you step into the range of any of the original Generals, all of the Generals turn aggro. After a certain number of turns (something like eight) every enemy on the map except Hardin and Jeorge starts chasing after you. The southern reinforcements go on for a while, more than ten turns probably. The easiest strategy is to rush the top of the map and have the Generals dealt with in the first four turns, before the reinforcements catch up with you. Forging a Wing Spear or Hammer if you haven't already will come in handy for this.

  3. I'm not sure exactly, but I recall that Palla is 3RKO'd by the mountain Dracoknights at full health. What you want to do is have Palla use the Silver Lance to kill one of the ones without an axe while you have at least one unit with lower defence than her sit in their ranges so that the remaining two don't gang up on her. If she gets killed im two rounds of combat, have her move west around to the rest of your units and arrange them in a line such that they can only be attacked by one Dracoknight at a time. Depending on how beefy your MU is, you might be able to just have him tank two Dracoknights by himself.

Meanwhile, have 2-4 units (depending on how strong your guys are) remain at the start to bait and kill the ones over the sea. The sea ones aggro when the mountain ones do, so the positioning there is pretty simple.

  4. Woo we won

I'm not happy with my performance in this game honestly; I didn't contribute a whole lot in-thread and I sabotaged my own strategy in D3 by basically claiming Cop. I targeted Shin and Elie because Shin was a null read on N1 that wouldn't get lynched without a scum scan if he was mafia; Elieson was leaning scum for me (and several others) and I wanted to solidify a future wagon if he was scum, and clear him if he wasn't.

My N3 target was kirsche for the same reason, but, that didn't matter due to my mistakes. It was a fun game though! I'll try and do better next time, and make sure not to join a game two weeks from exams.

  5. Finally, I've sent the wizard responsible for the ASM wonders being bestowed upon my hack the list of important and vanity needs. He's busy, as he is what with all that he makes, hacks, creates, destroys, and rends common sense to shreds. But that should be wonderful. By the end of this we should have a lot of stuff not just for my hack, but for the community too.

Oooh, neat. Will any of the new ASM be able to be ported to the other GBA games?

I see the Drynwyn has 1-2 range. Makes me wonder if Roy will have mediocre stats but great weapons exclusive to himself. That'd be an interesting take on him.

Personally I don't see why saving Hector would need to be on Hard Mode only unless his stats are too good for NM; but that's more of a problem with Hector than anything else.

  6. So, I'm wondering if it's possible to implement DSFE-style weapon ranks and weapon triangle advantage, where you have bonuses for wielding a weapon type starting from C-rank (would be for FE8 by the by). This would be made up of three parts:

1.Setting different rank bonuses for different weapon types, so that, for example, swords give more might and axes give more hit. You wouldn't need unique sets of bonuses for every weapon type since I imagine tomes and bows could share their bonuses with the physical weapons (so, about 5 sets of bonuses total if that's an issue)

2.Setting different, increasing rank bonuses for different ranks starting from C. They could be separate (eg. C-rank Swords = +1 might, B-rank Swords = +2 might, +5 hit) or cumulative (C-rank Swords = +1 might, B-rank = +1 might, +5 hit) bonuses - whichever is easier to code would work.

    3. If you have weapon triangle advantage, it negates the enemy's weapon rank bonuses. This part isn't a huge deal if it's too much trouble to implement though.

The purpose of all this is to make the weapon/magic triangles important and relevant for the whole game, and to make weapon ranks useful in and of themselves for boosting your offense. This almost definitely would require a lot of work to create, but I thought I'd put it out here to see if others would use it. Some way to edit the specific values for the weapon rank bonuses like the S-rank editor we currently have for Nightmare would also be very good.

  7. There is a module labelled 'Unknown6' as part of the Chapter Unit editor. It contains all of the Creature Campaign characters, and the summoned monsters at the end. Note that the summoning randomizes their levels.

  8. If a single AI can ORKO one of your units, it will move before any other AIs that would target that unit. You can see this in P-4; normally Athena moves last, but she moves before the Soldiers to kill MU, whom she doubles and KOs. I think that higher damage > KO trick only works if Enemy 2 moves before Enemy 1. Otherwise Enemy 2 will sense a kill and move to attack X instead.

  9. Your aspect ratio for the larger screen looks weird; notice how all of the text and portraits look pixelated and blocky. Also, your keys are pretty audible at times, Otherwise, I'm glad that you've cut out repetitive parts (like redoing P-1 for a better level).

The AI in this game has several quirks that, of course, the game doesn't give you any hints about. The important thing to know is that the AI is essentially determinist; in a given situation, the AI will always make the same moves.

Loved your P-4 suffering. You truly captured the despair of that place!

  10. Great music deserves twice the praise!

What sort of forges have you been making? Are there any weapons without effective bonuses that are particularly good to forge? I personally like making Iron Axes with +6 Mt or so since they're so cheap and have 40 uses, but does going LTC make these simple forges not cost-effective?

Maybe 6 levels altogether for Jake and Beck.

  11. Even if you don't want to go with DLC, you might want to give Marth the Growth Drop anyway; he has a terrible time later on if he doesn't cap Speed.

I used a Mage MU recently on H2, and after Prologue I found that she had a good combo of tome rank, magic and speed that allowed her to double and ORKO most things and tank Dracoknights with Nosferatu. She also ended up with 18 Strength as a Sage, so I could turn her into a Dracoknight or Swordmaster anytime if I wanted to. You get other mages, and Linde is pretty good in particular, but they all have a rough start, are basically locked into Sage/Bishop, and tend to want stat boosters to be viable.

  12. I'd rather not claim until it's necessary. But from my results, it doesn't look like Shin is mafia or SK either. Maybe the mafia can guess it already anyway, but just in case I'd like to keep my exact role to myself for now.

I don't see how it's possible that I'm distancing myself from a lynch that I voted for; I definitely supported the Objection lynch, not going to make any claims otherwise. I just generally regret that we got a town lynched.

(Oh and please nobody hammer right now, there's no need for that.)

  13. Poly, I targeted Elie on N2. Didn't get anything that suggested scum. (Oh btw, I have an active role)

Sucks that Objection got lynched :(

I can claim my role if everyone wants me too, but I don't see the need presently.

Grassbridger is still as scummy as yesterday, and his latest comments don't help. Of course you aren't happy with a voting block against you; but people who are still alive are almost by definition unproven town. Care to say why they aren't townie?

    ##Vote: Grassbridger

(Oh, and in regards to this, I misremembered what you said; didn't mean to misrep you on purpose. You're free to disbelieve that though!)

  14. Voted H2, Lunatic is a bit too crazy for a blind run I think, and Maniac makes some characters like Minerva usable.

As for your starting class, in H2 anything works, even Archer and Mage. Picking Mage also has the fun side effect of making MU able to be in physical and magical classes later on, since their Strength growth as a mage is decent enough for some procs here and there.

On Lunatic though, anything but Cav/Peg/Fighter/Merc has a stupidly difficult time with the prologue. Maybe Myrmidon is usable, I haven't tried it.

Warrior gets screwed over by its bases and caps. Not really worth using at any point in the game, sadly.

  15. We have ~10 minutes to deadline, he'd better type fast!

Quick reads: Still going for Objection, but Grass saying that Objection's roleclaim is a lie because it's too simple is dubious to me, partly due to Kay's role but also because we only know the roles of like six people out of eighteen. Kay was a simple martyr
