  1. For what it's worth, I mostly was thinking lategame. Alcryst might be better in the short run (ergo, the Brodia arc, but I'd prolly use both at that point because there's a ton of fliers then), but I have reservations about his performance later on (ergo, from back to Elusia and afterwards). I had, but I wasn't that serious about raising bond levels with fragments at the time due to cost concerns. Also, while she can be effective with Vantage/Wrath, that ain't infallible; it means she's walking an RNG tightrope where if Murphy's Law strikes, she's likely not making it out of that combat alive.
  2. Maybe. But even with Ike (which I bring up because she and Ike are hyped up as being a dream team), her ability to take hits was lacking, which is a recipe for disaster when she's also slow. "Slow" and "takes massive damage when hit" aren't two things I'd want to be the case with you when you're a melee fighter. . . Hell, that's something I have constantly complained about when it comes to fighters and warriors.
  3. I've seen a lot of people use Alcryst in their runs, but his performance was almost always lackluster, with him generally doing shit damage without Luna. On his personal, that's fair, but to me it's like "Big deal. Adding 2 to a small number still gets you a small number. Whoopee." Doesn't help that it's not made clear as to precisely how it works, because when I think of "one turn" I think it's gonna wear off once that enemy phase ends. Sure, he may do more damage if Luna procs, but the key word there is "if". That doesn't bode well... Hope you can stomach his godawful howling. That's gotta be the most aggravating sound in all of video gaming, especially in recent memory. It's a shame, as his character had potential, but that single-handedly ruins him. I tried Warrior Panette, but her performance was, to be blunt, shit. So much so she didn't even level up before I pulled the rip cord and put her into something else (Great Knight, to be specific). Despite Warrior supposedly being a good class, I found she only shined when she was OUT of it.
  4. Personally, I do not think Alcryst is very good. Luna hardly makes up for his cruddy damage output without it. I'd rather use Etie instead. I have my doubts on thieves too - Yunaka fell off HARD in hard mode to the point that come the homecoming, I retired her in favour of a Citrinne that I thought I was done with.
  5. I'd consider it both tedious and impractical. Also, I consider it extremely telling that you have to do this at the expense of everyone else. No way in hell I could see someone who needs this level of babying and favoritism as B tier material. ...Speaking of, I still see Brom being in the same tier as Gatrie to be ridiculous, because he doesn't have the latter's early utility.
  6. Ironman and 0% growths require completely different strategies; what works in one won't fly in the other. Trying to combine both is a recipe for disaster.
  7. I wouldn't be the best person to make such a statement, though. It's not exactly a secret that I dislike Jill, mainly because every time I give her a chance, she blows it, I get pissed off and then cut her from the team. So if you're looking for a fair and impartial analysis of Jill's performance, you're looking at the wrong person for that. lol Nice joke. Ike does care about being sword-locked, because it means his enemy phase performance is diminished for almost all the game, and he struggles against lances. Also, FYI, Feral Ones are not common opponents, and second, they come in various classes. The only kind that units might struggle to damage is also the rarest one (of course, this ignores the fact that there's weapons meant specifically for defeating laguz units, which Feral Ones are). Also, the bolded is blatant arrogance. I've seen peeps make careless mistakes in Sacred Stones - the same Sacred Stones that many say is among the easiest games in the series - and pay dearly for it. If frigging Sacred Stones can punish recklessness and overconfidence, this game certainly can.
  8. So it's an even bigger dud than it was in US? If you're lucky. I'm in the camp that says status staves are generally useless. Especially Silence. $200 is a lot of money to spend just for one difficulty mode...
  9. How, by having Brom solo those maps? Pass. I don't want to spend 1001 turns digging him out of his hole, especially when he doesn't bring anything of note to the table. Are you assuming they promote at the same time? Because that's a mistake. Jill hits harder, sure, but that's offset by her being more likely to miss doubles - or worse, get doubled herself. I wouldn't know, I have never had a good Jill. Heck, I don't use her.
  10. Are you saying I should have just accepted their word at face value without question? Because I don't see any numbers or context to reinforce the point. It doesn't help OP's case that they tend to look at 20/20 stats and ignore everything else. Aside from that, the above mostly said what I'd have.
  11. I already called BS on that claim about Brom. More to the point, if they're willing to say stuff like that, I'm well within my rights to be skeptical of ANYTHING they say.
  12. The part where it's coming from someone who thinks that Brom can get 12 levels in only three maps, one of which is timed. That's beyond ridiculous.
  13. That's not the problem. It's that Shinon is an archer in one of the worst games for archers. And on top of that, by the time you get him back, his bases don't hold up any more. There's still the part where you need to go all the way from E swords to S, too.
  14. Where would I need that amount of defense? Because that's overkill for most situations. And that's ignoring that this is dependent on using Shinon after you get him back, when his bases are well beyond bad for that part of the game, and this requires a ridiculous amount of setup. If you can catch the enemy with them unequipped. Else you'll have to force them to use their other tome. If you can. And this is where I ask "How much did it cost?" Because I already find gaming to be an expensive hobby...
  15. Personally, I buy into this myself. Look at the likes of Arthur and Niles in Conquest. They have high availability, but I still consider them to be low tiers.
  16. When did Clive's star rise in terms of unit appraisals? Works well enough for witches, as they are textbook squishy wizards, but Arcanists are bulky mofos. Doesn't help that they often have 3 range magic (sure, witches do too, but Thunder ain't as threatening as Mire, let alone Death; also, you see more Arcanists with one of the latter than witches with Thunder iirc).
  17. I see this and raise you Desmond from Blazing Blade.
  18. Honestly, I've NEVER had a good Niles. Which is why I can't help but roll my eyes at everyone who swears up and down that he's amazing. Or those that think that he's gonna be an asset when I play Lunatic. Excellent speed only does so much when you have garbage stats almost everywhere else.
  19. Sorry for not making it clear, but I meant in PoR and RD. I don't have the DLC, so I can't attest to how useful his kit is in Engage.
  20. Here's 2 more: Soren is overrated. Pandreo is overrated, and also one of the most aggravating characters in all of video games.
  21. Bruh This sounds hard to swallow when you don't bother to actually back it up.
  22. Oh. I know it was an issue in the Wii version. The latest I know is that Shed Tail was banned from OU, and Cyclizar was unbanned as a result. In other tiers: Sandy Shocks is being suspected in UU, Pom Pom Oricorio is being suspected in RU, and male Indeedee is being suspected in NU. Vivillon was QBed from PU, and Moody was banned from Ubers. Also of note, Staraptor is FINALLY able to settle in UU after 5 generations of getting b& from it! It was Sky Shaymin that was unanimously banned in a suspect test in Gen 5. It wasn't because it was broken, but rather because it was a serious pain in the arse (all due to Serene Grace [which doubles the chances of the added effects of attack moves happening], Air Slash for flinching, and Seed Flare for Special Defense drops; while flinch + Serene Grace isn't exclusive to it, it's much faster than the other mons that are known for such, those being Togekiss and Jirachi). The fact that it was so despised that absolutely everybody wanted its ass gone says a lot about how infuriating it was to deal with. Especially considering that even the more obvious ban cases have a few dissenters.
  23. Hopefully you can actually see where yer going there. Also, wonder what Pokemon got unanimously banned in a suspect test?
  24. Welcome to Airport 1001... oops, I mean SF. Please wake that slugabed up, and don't forget to feed and pet Sommie. By the by, I like watching anime myself. One Piece, MHA, and Sailor Moon are some of my favorites.
  25. As in the difficulty where swordmasters are neutered because they don't have boosted crit (Fun fact, swordmasters, berserkers and snipers do NOT have boosted crit in the Japanese version)? bruh Being excellent when capped is nothing special. Also, you spend very, very little of the game's playtime capped, so saying that someone is a monster when capped doesn't convince me they're good, because needless to say (though it seems to need saying with you because you're obsessed with endgame potential to the point where you fixate on that and ignore everything else), you spend far, far, FAR more time not capped. What's more, I think you're exaggerating how good generals really are in PoR. Sure, Gatrie is good early, but earlygame in general is an all hands on deck situation. That said, Brom being in the same tier as him is nothing short of ridiculous. EDIT: That doesn't make what I said any less valid. You're still setting unrealistic expectations. You expect Brom to get something like 4 levels a map??
