  1. Not a fan of this banner. Saving F2P orbs for the RD banner really thought me the value of saving for things I really want, so I'll gladly accept all the orbs the TT will give us to put in my stash for whenever the next Tellius banner comes out. If it again takes a year, I might have enough to +10 someone. I

Wooo that like dislike ratio. Even if it is Fates, I thought I remembered there being people that actually wanted a Hoshidan banner with Hoshidan units on it. We got that.

(Even if Camilla's on it somehow again. At least she's free which I guess makes it a bit less of an issue? (At least in my opinion, though I feel any retainer - or even nonretainers like Lilith, Hayato, and Rinkah) would have been better))

Probably because people are just sick of alts, seasonals and Fates at this point. If this banner had come out in August after we had tons of non-Fates banners and less seasonal banners, there would have probably been much less backlash.

    26 minutes ago, Alkaid said:

The gap between alts keeps getting shorter. 2 Eirikas in the span of a month and a half, another Camilla after 2 months. IS is just doing the opposite of toning things down.  I think IS just doesn't care about the complaints, and maybe they have internal sales numbers to back that stance up (no idea, but I doubt they'd increase the alt count if they didn't think they'd sell well enough anymore).

Well I remember reading that banners are often planned months in advance, so it's very possible they had already had all those fates alt banners planned out and didn't foresee the backlash from the players that started really picking steam back in November. Though it's entirely possible that despite the usual outrage, the silent majority actually likes Fates banners.

  2. I got a couple of questions with regards to the Laguz units.

First question is that I managed to get 3 copies of Nailah from the banner, 1 +Spd/-Res, 1 +Res/-Spd and one +HP/-Res, and I'm wondering what to do with them. The current options I'm considering are :

    1. Merge all the copies in the +Spd one and use an offensive Galeforce build.
    2. Merge all the copies in the +Res one and use her more as an hybrid unit.
    3. Sacrifice the +HP one to give Micaiah Null C-Disrupt and merge up the +Spd one.
    4. Sacrifice the +HP one to give Micaiah Null C-Disrupt and merge up the +Res one.
    5. Sacrifice the +HP one to give Micaiah Null C-Disrupt and do two different builds on the remaining ones.

I'm teetering on the nature since with the upcoming merge changes, the bane will be meaningless. +Spd would give her 43 speed, but the Res boon gives her more bulk to take hits from Razzle-Dazzle units, especially with a DD seal and Fority buff from Reyson and the missing points of Spd can be kind of made up when using her to bait with her weapon's effect. Also unsure if Micaiah, who I use as my dedicated Horse and Armor counter in AR, really needs Null C-Disrupt. It would finally let her bait Veronica and Firesweep Lyn, but it would come at the price of Guard, that sometime helps against Quickened Pulse Reinhardt.

Second question is shorter. I got two Tibarns, one +Atk and the other +Spd. I'm currently using the +Spd, but I'm wondering if his weapon effect and Sturdy Impact make the +Atk nature better since Spd is less of an issue and 34 Spd with a boon is still not amazing.

CYL3 will probably be at the end of January, like the previous two. So sometime soon.

The mass rarity drop was April 2018. I think another is decently likely, but I'm not sure when.

I feel like we need more than just a rarity drop this time around. If they just drop a lot of gen1 5* exclusives and some of the recent 4-5, the 3-4 pool would become incredibly inflated. And it wouldn't change the fact that a lot of early gen 1 heroes, even the 5* exclusive have incredibly lackluster skill set. Unless something major is done, pulling units like Donnel, Raigh and Virion will nearly always be completely useless and even pulling a 4* Lyn or Lucina if they were ever to drop wouldn't really give you anything of value SI wise. I've heard the idea of creating a separate pool where you could use free currency to pull for lower rarity units, but if the pool is filled with units that have little value as fodder, no one is really gonna pull from it. They'd need to revitalize the skill sets of older units so that they actually have decent skill to offer as fodder.

dont. This is one of those old event before DW realized Event have to be a celebrated event with fantastic mats drop rate from nodes. The heart drop rate is 2%

DW didn't take notes about mats drop rate until Saber Wars

I read in multiple guides that the heart drop rate has been raised to around 11% for the re-run. Though Shinjuku and its Heart node is just a couple of weeks away, so it's probably better to wait for that since that node has a better drop rate than the event. Still gonna farm currency on the Heart node though since any heart I do get is one less heart to grind for later.

  5. Moon Goddess re-run has been announced and I'm looking forward to it. I'll be able to get all of Merlin's skill to level 6 with the 20 pages (though my stay in Hyde Park won't end there.) The Heart node also seems like it'll be very easy to farm it in 2 turns with the units I own, so I'll probably be doing all my grinding there as soon as I unlock the node.

I've seen people dreading the re-run hell, but having only started in July last year, all of this will be new content to me and I'm looking forward finally getting welfares I missed like Kintoki Rider.

I'd take +Res over +Spd, personally. Especially when her weapon can take neutral Spd from 38 to 44.

Id completely forgotten about the owl effectnon her weapon. Considering that, I might keep the +Res/-Spd and merge the +Spd/-Res once the merging change comes out. If I used her with Leanne and a DD seal, she could reach a statline of 41/57/50/38/33 when attacked from range.

  7. I had 626 Orbs this morning. I now have 4 and all the tickets from the Forging Bonds events have been used.

It started well enough with Leanne on my first session, but after that, I got another Leanne and Karel pity-breaking my 6.5% rate before spooking me in the very next roll. Thankfully, I got Nailah twice right after, but I was afraid I wouldn't get Tibarn when I was down to 100 orbs. I got disheartened when Mia showed up on my third to last roll, but Tibarn came with the second red orb on that banner. Hoped for Reyson on the last 2 rolls, but a third Leanne came instead.

    So 600 orbs netted me

    • 3 Leanne (2 +HP/-Def and 1 +Atk/-Res)
    • 2 Nailah (+Spd/-Res and +Res/-Spd)
    • 2 Wo Dao+ fodder Karel (both +Atk/-Res)
    • 1 Mia (+Spd/-Res)
    • 1 Tibarn (+Spd/-Res)

I really hoped that I would get Tibarn sooner in less orbs, since I wanted to save in case of Mythical Micaiah and I wouldn't have minded pulling for more Deirdre or Julia merges on the upcoming New Power banner, but that's gacha hell for you. Thankfully aside from the 2 Karels, which I really don't care for since I already have 1 and I never use him anyway, I'm happy with all the units I got and they all have really good natures. Now I have to decide whether I merge the Nailahs and Leannes or if I keep them for SI purpose. I usually prefer to merge units I like even if they're 5*, but both Null C-Disrupt and Hone Beasts could be worthy fodder.

  8. 6 hours ago, Tenzen12 said:

200 orbs and I got both Tibarn and Nailah (plus some pests). Tibarn has relatively ok-ish IV, but Nailah is -Atk  (+SPD, but still...), I will try get better wolf before banner ends.

That was fast now I got -HP/+Res. Should be better, maybe?

Do keep in mind that we'll get the merging change in February where a merge units loses their bane. So if you plan on merging your two Nailahs, the +Spd is probably better than the +Res one.

Likely not.  They like to show random ces on banners without new ce but those ce usually aren't rateup.

You can check the summon info when it goes live to double check though.

Thanks for the reply. I'll check when the banner comes out, but if there's no CE rate up, I'll probably do one 10 roll and stop there.

  10. Regarding the Hassan banner, is Limited Zero on rate up? I wasn't planning on spending too hard on his banner since I'm swimming in SR+ Assassins and I have plenty of Buster bruisers to go along with Merlin, but I'm still missing Limited Zero (but I somehow have 4 copies of Formal Craft) , so I might at least try for one copy if it's on rate up.

My inventory is starting to get full of EXP cards and it'll be better if I start planning on leveling someone in case Musashi doesn't come home please come home, I'll get you to 10/10/10 level 100 in a flash and you'll get 3 mega sized plates of udon a day! but I just can't decide on someone right now so I ask which of these servants is the better investment (there's no favoritism for these guys so it'd be just for gameplay):

      Reveal hidden contents
    • NP1 Atalanta
    • NP1 Vlad Extra
    • NP1 Marie
    • NP5 Santa Alter
    • NP5 Liz caster
    • NP1 Nitocris
    • NP2 Nursery Rhyme
    • NP1 Fran
    • NP1 Gorgon
    • NP5 Medea

Maybe others here will have more insight, but the best I can tell you is to look up unit reviews for those servants (Rabbit Review on Gamefaqs, G&A Reviews on Youtube, FGO gamepress) to better understand the niche these servants fill and what are their strength and weaknesses. Then you'll be able to look at the units you currently have and see which of the units you listed fits your current line-up the best.

Aside from that, the only units in that list that I have used are Nitocris and Santa Alter, so there the only one I have true experience using.

Nitocris is amazing for farming nodes filled with bronze and silver mooks since she can reliably proc instant death with her NP and her skill set can allow her to NP two turns in a row with minimal support.

And I haven't leveled mine, but I did use Santa Alter and she's great for wiping one screen of enemy since it does an absurd amount of damage for an AoE NP, but she can't do it repeatedly since her NP gain is pretty average.

Off the basis of events being predicted based off of the JP version, is there anyways to estimate how many quartz can be obtained in certain time periods like months?

From what I understand, there's sometimes difference between what we get vs what JP got, but the OP of this reddit thread calculated how much Quartz we should in the next 6 months.

Anyone else feeling like to share their stories with Lady Luck?

Sure, I only have around half of a year to recap, but a lot of stuff happened pull-wise:

    Spoiler

I started this game with Stheno and Carmilla as my tutorial SRs. New player guides described Stheno as a pitiful pull, but Carmilla was rated highly enough that I decided to stick with this roll despite not getting Heracles.

It didn't take long for me to get another SR, with Nitocris coming to my Chaldea on my second day with the game. She was the first of the various pharaohs that would come to join me during the year, with Ozymandias gracing me with his magnificence a couple of days later. And I must say, boy am I glad I got these two. Nitocris is a godsend for farming nodes with bronze and even silver mooks and Ozymandias carried me through a lot of tough fights. Him also having the nice utility of giving 20 NP works great with Kscope Nitocris to allow her to NP twice in a row.

By that time, the first anniversary of the game had come around and I decided to throw some Quartz at the 4 horsemen GSSR to see if I could get my hands on Waver, Tamamo or Cu Alter. Jack was the servant that came to greet me and while I'm still not much of a fan of her design and personality, I've come to really appreciate how good she is gameplay wise. Getting 50+ stars with a Quick brave chain or seeing her fill out her NP right after using it is pretty satisfying.

Got another SSR not too long after with Da Vinci, making her the third SSR I got in my first week with the game, which definitely got me pumped. Now though, I must say that though she was useful at various points in the story, I barely use her anymore, with Nitocris usually being my go to AoE caster.

That's where my beginners luck ended for the most part, not that I could be disappointed considering what I got. The following months, I didn't get really anything beside NP3 Stheno and NP3 Nitocris, despite being fairly liberal with my quartz.

This brings me to October and the Jalter banner. I had heard all the hype around Jalter, but since a lot of servants I really wanted were coming up, I had initially decided to refrain from pulling. I finally decided to do one full roll on her banner with some leftover funds from a gift cards. This turned out to be a great decision since this roll turned out to be my luckiest full roll with the game yet, with NP4 Nitocris leading the way for 2 Jalters. Apparently not really wanting a servant is the key to getting them to NP 2 in a single roll.

Then, as to really solidify my apparent affinity with pharaoh servants, Cleopatra joined my Chaldea a couple of days later.

Then the Thanksgiving banner was announced. I had been looking forward to the New Year since I was interested in all the servants on it except for Illya. I was surprised to see that banner moved up so soon, with Shuten and Raikou replacing Kintoki and Ishtar, but I decided I would focus on the 3 characters I wanted the most : Iskandar, Schathach and Gilgamesh, though I would limit my spending to 120 quartz : 1 full roll for each + 1 on the final day. Iskandar eluded me on his solo rate up, though I did get Rama, giving me my first non welfare golden saber. Schathach greeted me on her rate-up day, and though i didn't get the King of Heroes, I did get Emiya, giving me an AoE golden archer.

Up till now, I had been incredibly with the Gacha, often getting the SSRs I wanted on the first or second full roll. So it was time for me to experience the full depth of the salt hell when the Ishtar banner came around. I probably ended up spending 700 quartz on that banner without getting a single SSR. But boy did I get a bunch of SRs. Berserker Lancelot  was the first one to greet me, before being followed by Fionn, Astolfo, Beowulf, a second Fionn a rare prism, Saber Lancelot, Frankenstein, NP2 Rama, NP2 Ibaraki and Helena. And then, on the very last day of her banner, after I had pretty much given up hope, I decided to do a single pull. Turns out the end of the semester was getting to me more than I thought since I ended up accidentally spending 30 quartz on a full pull instead, with Ishtar appearing as the second to last roll of that session.

After that came the Merlin banner. I spent all the SQ I had planned to spend on him without getting him, though I did get NP2 Helena, NP2 Zerkerlot and Marie Antoinette. However, on the morning of the 26, I decided I would give myself a small Christmas present and do 1 last 10-roll for the Mage of Flowers and was rewarded with Merlin himself gracing my Chaldea.

So at the end of 2018 and 7 months of playing the game, as an occasional spender, I can't say I'm disappointed with what I got. And 2019 started on a bang with Tamamo gbeing my GSSR and Musashi and NP3 Helena greeting me on my first pull from the New Year banner.

For the future, getting Tamamo really excites me since I'm eager to try if using double Tamamo or Helena + Tamamo alongside Da Vinci can make her shine more. Aside from that, I got a lot good buster servants this year on top of Merlin, so I'll be able to buster meme a lot bosses and am especially curious to experience Jalter + double Merlin.

The downside to the last few weeks being so lucky though is that I don't have the materials needed to promote them and that my progress on leveling my low rarity servants is extremely slow.

For the rest of 2019, I'm not out of the woods yet. I'd like to get MHXA, Okita, Osakabehime and Ereshkigal are all SSRs servants I hope to get during the coming year and despite getting lucky on the New Year banner, I'll spend on the Shimosa banners for Tomoe Gozen and Kato Danzou.

For now though, I have to go back to grinding for all the materials I'm missing for my current roster.

Current Roster (without the welfare) :

    SSR:

    • Musashi
    • Ishtar
    • Scathach
    • Ozymandias
    • Leonardo Da Vinci
    • Merlin
    • Tamamo
    • Jack the Ripper
    • Cleopatra
    • NP2 Jalter

    SR:

    • Rama
    • Lancelor (Saber)
    • Emiya
    • Fionn
    • Astolfo
    • Marie Antoinette
    • NP4 Nitocris
    • NP3 Helena
    • NP3 Stheno
    • Carmilla
    • NP2 Lancelot (Berserker)
    • NP2 Ibaraki
    • Beowulf
    • Frankenstein

  14. Welp this holiday season was pretty lucky for me.

After getting Merlin from a Christmas yolo pull, I got Musashi from a New Year yolo pull. I also got my NP3 Helena from that pull, who's sadly is still at level 1 and probably will remain for a while since I have 3 SSRs in need of attention since I also got Tamamo as my GSSR.

Though I now have to deal with the "first-world problem" of having too many SRs and SSRs that need pages and hearts. Now I curse even more my inability to farm Barbatos efficiently. I guess I'll have to spend a long while in Hyde Park for the pages and wait for events for the hearts. Though apparently Shinjuku has a better spot than Hyde Park for pages and even has a spot for hearts, so I may spend some time grinding there.

  15. If I'm being honest with myself, I don't particularly dislike having Azura as a legendary since I like her character and design, though it shows how obsessed IS has been with Fates this year. I probably would have pulled for her if the RD banner wasn't around the corner... and if L!Azura wasn't one of the most blatant case of power creep of this game. Dance and Sing are already the best assists in the game and they just decided to power creep it. Not to mention that her weapon is completely bonkers for buffing bladetome units. The last few moves by IS has been screaming greed and this is probably the most obvious of them all.

  16. 18 minutes ago, Alexmender said:

Not like it matters now that Barbatos is dead, but the main reason I didn't use Helena outside of the trial run with her bond CE was because I couldn't spare a slot for her on my setup. I certainly put her with the bond CE in my support party as soon as I got it everyone in my friend list only cares about my Rin face, though

In any case, Helena is putting more work now that I'm farming Forneus thanks to a very good comp I made while looking for an Ozy support that never showed up (Ridertoki/Rider Martha/NP2 Support Drake at bond 9/Helena). Drake's crits hurt a lot so it's extremely easy to 1~2 turn the pillar. Liz probably gives bigger buffs despite Ridertoki not getting the extra 20% from her Charisma but Helena's lower star weight makes her more reliable to ensure Drake gets at least a 90% crit chance.

If you're looking for a Bond 9 Ozy, I have a spot open on my friend list. ID is 292,726,441(Lux).

  17. Welp, don't know if I need to try for Memelin anymore. Beside the player who had a fully maxed out NP3 version of him, there's now another with a NP5 Merlin on my list.

And even if I got him, I wasn't able to farm Barbatos all that much, so I'm still starved as far as pages and hearts goes, especially considering I'm planning on pulling on the Caster GSSR for new year. Now watch him appear to make sure I stay in hearts hell forever

Forneus farming is going well. Using a Waver with his Bond CE to buff Jalter and Ozy allows me to 2 turn him, which is much better than the 6-turn at best I got against Barbatos. I do have to switch Waver in after Mash increases Ozy's NP gauge since I'm using Holy Night Supper and Halloween Princess instead of my Kscope to maximize their damage. Aside from the mat drops, all the QP I'm getting from the pillars is also a huge boon.

  18. Well RIP Barbatos. I wasn't able to farm him all that much, but I appreciate the Hearts I did get. I decided to move on to Forneus and man he's much easier to deal with. Having a Bond 9 Ozymandias to use alongside Jalter and Merlin allows me to make short work of him. Hope I get enough Jewel and Feathers for Jalter, Ishtar and Cleopatra.

  19. 8 minutes ago, Magus of Memery said:

If you have done Medea's Rank-Up Quest she can cleanse the debuff on your main damage dealer. You can then swap her out with plugsuit for a different Servant to stack more buffs.
You could try JAlter + Medea + Support Waver + Plugsuit, then switch in Helena for Medea for moar buffs. Depending on CEs you could try Support Merlin as long as you can provide enough NP charge for her with him and Helena.

Main problem is that since I'm relatively new to the game, a lot of my servants are still underleveled, Medea and Helena included (I only got Helena when she spooked me on Ishtar's banner). Most of my effort went into the SSR I was lucky enough to get,  as well as a few SRs like Nitocris, Chloe and Rama, which means that very few of my 3* and lower servants are at a usable level. I think only Euryale, Cu, Hans, Arash and Kiyo are at their last ascension, meaning I'm pretty limited option-wise. From my pool of leveled servants, I think the only supports I have are Hans and Mash.

I would have liked to use the Christmas lotto to raise some of them, but for some reason, FGO thinks Christmas is in early December, right when the final exams and projects of an university semester are due, so I got the bare minimum from it and Ishtar ate most of what I got.

I did try a run with Jalter, Jack and Merlin just now, but it took me the same amount of turns it would have taken me with solo support Herc.

  20. I tried using Scathach and Jalter with Barbatos, but I kept getting screwed over by buster and quick debuffs which made the fight last 12 turns. Decided to just use a support level 92 bond 10 Heracles to solo him in 6 turn. Hopefully having a bond 9 Ozy will allow me to have an easier time against Forneus.

If there's a maintenance period, I'll probably miss him myself, since there's no way I'm staying up to wait for maintenance ends. I guess I'll see what happens when I wake up tomorrow. Other than the colossal the amount of salt Merlin's banner will unleash upon NA, that is.
