  1. I haven't put this in yet. But I was thinking for card counterpicks against identical teams, gravity may be a viable option. For example, fighting a horseman team with a horseman team, on maps 5 and 6 it can take nearly 9 turns to reach the fort, this especially becomes a problem if the opponent tries to do nothing but block the path. On map 6 player 1 has preference, on map 5 player 2. Also, snipers/berserkers are reduced to something like 3 move. Sages can warp, but still need a scout. Gravity reduces move by half, rounded down, so paladins still have 1 more move than horsemen.
  2. I've fought dozens of clock abused teams in wifi. Mostly because their team names are "clock abused", lol. Anyway, even with clock abuse, the number of hackers outnumber the RNG abusers. The horseman team can only be constructed using RNG abuse. It's much easier to get a good swordmaster than it is to get a good horseman.
  3. Hmm, so I was thinking it through and here is what I arrived at: On a large map with little terrain costs, the paladin team has a very large advantage. On a small map with limiting terrain, the paladin team is neutral. Under umbra or on a map with choke-points and precise player order (player 2 on map 2 or 6) the paladin team is slightly disadvantaged. Snipers can't counterattack paladins, but the other two can. Paladins can't 1-1 sages. So when fighting each other, I'd say those two teams are equal. However, there are more situations than the ones outlined above. The paladin team has relatively few viable teams that it fears. Dracos are able to counter the paladin team, but are impractical when fighting anything other than paladins. The other team, sages can be killed 1-1 from snipers swordmaster and horsemen. It has limited movement, so it basically has 4 full strength attackers. (more like 4 and a half) which is a disadvantage when compared to the paladin team. Statistically, this means that if you pit a 5 paladin team against a random opponent, it would win more than the other team. I agree with this. That's why I call it the max stat "problem". Max stat play relies far more on stats and units than the player. In fact, give a player 2 max stat teams, and they can construct many possible strategies that the opponent simply cannot defeat. I haven't done this, since I don't have such teams. But it's certainly possible.
  4. Where does it say swarm is better than warping a unit? I might look into that. The only thing in contention there, is if you have 2 units to freely move. Why not attack with the sniper and use swarm? Also, if you kill their unit, the sniper would be abandoned. Warp is one-way. But I agree with the accuracy thing. Personally, I'm not a big fan of swarm. Ideally you should never have to use swarm or warp, your sage should be in supporting range of the rest of your troops out of fear of overextending. Name another team that is statistically superior. The paladin team is good because it will always scout the opponent first. This advantage is the sole reason the paladin team is good. They can be blocked into choke points, so sometimes 4x paladins are better (1x sniper). However that'll come at a movement cost. Scouting is the only important factor in max-stat play.
  5. There is this which outlines some of the basics. Basically, you just build a team of 5 units and use them on a map against another 5 units. (you can actually move the units and stuff, unlike previous GBA multiplayer)
  6. yeah, GGs. I was trying a few different teams, to see where yours lay. It was fun =D

  7. Ok, so I finally got around to updating some things. Not much has changed, just organised things to groups. The major change was to counterpicking
  8. Nothing like that, it's simple "I go first way more than I go second" logic. On average playing with anyone I go first around 95% of the time (19 out of 20 battles). That's too high of a ratio to be random. But against specific people, this ratio drops down significantly. For example when fighting 4in1, going first vs going second is around 50%.
  9. I fought him a long time ago, but I haven't faced him recently. Nope. But I could have something to do with wins vs losses. I can say it isn't one of these: -random -time waiting -number of battles It could be win ratio, but I don't know for sure.
  10. sure, if your still up for it.
  11. I still pull out my horseman team when I come across someone strong. But I haven't used it in the last 100 or so battles. Finding tough opponents is difficult, but I've found recently there has been a huge drop in the number of hackers on wifi, which is good. (My guess would be lots of people got proper versions of the game for christmas) I WILL REACH 9001! ... It only took me a year to get 3000, I'm sure 9000 will be easy =P
  12. Could be something to do with the security setting. I know that the original DS & DS lite only works with WEP encryption, while most routers use WPA. To get mine to work I had to disable encryption. (I used different methods to protect my wireless)
  13. The music is the main theme from FE9. It was the only track I had that was long enough to last the whole battle XD I did to... for about 2 months -.-;; When I realised I could reach 3000 before the year was up, I went "meh, why not" 5th unit had to be a sage of some kind, since they used warp. Yeah, that's my weakest team. It has no forged weapons, and isn't RNG abused. I use it for with anyone play.
  14. Edit: 4000 now =D 3556 wins. I just reached 3000 battles on wifi. Here is my (not very interesting) 3000th battle: that was against some random on with anyone. 3000 battles, 2685 wins for a 89.5% win ratio. I still need 6000+1 more battles though...
  15. ahh, yeah GGs. That first match was funny, I was just trying to take the fort, but was soo out gunned XD

yeah, my Sylvan team is usually the strongest team I use on with anyone. I like it because every unit can be 1 hit killed. I have a TABAZ!!!! (berserker team) and my 5 horseman RNG abused team. But I don't use those on with anyone, unless I'm 100% sure I...

  16. haha, yeah. My main goal with that team is stalling XD I just had to chip away at your forces long enough to make sure Catria would be able to hold the fort.

  17. Yeah, I realised XD I counted your movement, and when I saw you weren't moving through the middle, I placed my people just outside your movement range, so that I would be in a good position. That's one of the advantages of using horsemen so much, I know how far other horsemen teams will move XD

  18. rofl, the minute i switch to my RNG abused team, i pick up someone else, then when I switch to my weak team I pick you back up XD

  19. Yeah, GG when we fought. It was close, your units were only 2 squares away from mine!

  20. O.O

You surrendered? If you had hit "end turn" you would have won XD

  21. Dunno about gravity. Since I've filled my team slots, I haven't experimented much with it. Flying units have half movement, every other unit has less than half, depending on terrain. Super-long range attacks may be of use, but I doubt it would be worth it. Most gravity teams depend on the map more than anything. Horsemen and paladins don't work under gravity (apotrope and criticals) however, a team using gravity fighting a horseman or paladin team has a hard fight. It's an interesting card, but I don't really think it can be used to a high advantage. It can be used to level play, I'd say if your fighting horsemen/paladins, with a horseman/paladin team, gravity may be a counterpick card.
  22. ahh, but you went first! that gives me incentive to do some tests. I have 2898 battles, you have 219? Maybe I should look into it more....

  23. Umbra doesn't really stop it. It does in map 4&6, since you can't warp over walls. But it works in ubmra on map 1 and 2. Gravity stops it (lol, gravity) I did a test with waiting. It's certainly affected by the number of battles, I'm just not sure how specifically it's effected. (I might do some more tests, check you idea, because that also sounds plausible.)
  24. It's especially useful on with anyone. The higher number of battles, the more you go first (i'm not sure exactly what it is, but I almost never go second) I could pretty much always use that team. I don't, because it's cheap, but I could XD
  25. I think most people call it "flying berserkers" or something, from a team Quanchio made. Basically, you use judgement to reduce their health low enough to kill with a berserker. Then warp them in. Instant win on 50% of the maps.
