  1. It's funny because those transfers are technically possible to attain on console if you boss abuse and reset for eternity. Each character is levelled to 20/20 with perfect level ups and then the statboosters collected through the game are assigned for important transfers in the FE10 speedrun. I'm probably biased towards the transfers file, but I don't see anything wrong with using the file as it only increases reliability. Admitedly the only character that's stupid is Sothe because of his 1:1 transfers from PoR, but overall you'll save yourself a lot of resetting using the rigged transfer file. You can also skip map animations and stop torturing us and yourself. Kappa I should note that several characters like Marcia, Mordecai, Lethe, and lolAstrid don't have transfers because they're either fought or sacked and need to die easier (Ike also has a Lck transfer if you're purge critting him in 3-13).
  2. Guard Stance is better in most cases because Pairup bonuses can push you over doubling or 1RKO benchmarks while still giving you the benefits of guard stance. Since one super unit is better than two units that attack stance off of each other, which only leads to you getting surrounded or killed by enemy attack stance (Obviously you can turtle with AS but in an efficiency context Guard > Attack Stance because of more flexibility in your movement).
  3. Woah, I didn't expect AGDQ submissions to be on the front page today. lol Ellieson is on top of everything. Just to clarify: I'll be running PoR at AGDQ barring some sort of unexpected last minute emergency as the dates get closer. I'm unsure if there was some sort of miscommunication, but DXSteveX is starting to learn how to run FE10 and doesn't intend on going. I probably mixed something up or dondon is malfunctioning since I've mentioned RushinAssassin (he's waitlisted right now) submitting and getting through first cuts before I also submitted. I've re-routed the majority of the game in Japanese to abuse the 255 critical glitch since that old practice run. The game has been improved on by quite a bit and dondon helped out with a number of chapters (Ch28 best strat). I'm super excited to have the opportunity to run again at AGDQ and I'm going to give it my all.
  4. it's obviously been me disliking his videos because he hasn't spread the good word about boah yet. duh
  5. I want to throw in some good words for Izana too real quick. He's a free staff user with access to Rally Magic, which is nice for your magic users and it slightly increases your staff accuracy. His staff ranks allow him to use Freeze and Weakness to assist in safely clearing tough enemy formations in Ch25 or Ch26. Effective staff use in the lategame is essential if you don't want to die or resort to turtling. You can push forward more easily by incapacitating an enemy with Freeze and moving to kill the remaining enemies. Izana joins in on the staff fun for free and with his Magic stat he can even offer the occasional chip if needed. His aura is pretty decent too I guess. Izana is basically a full-out support character and does more work helping the team than being the team.
  6. I originally thought Lunatic Nohr was going to be difficult to run through consistently at a fast pace, but after playing and getting more experience with the game it's quite straightforward. There's a weird mix of player phase orientated gameplay at the start and lategame, but I'd be lying if I were say there isn't a period where Kamui/Camilla/Xander are stomping loads of enemies during Enemy Phase. Admittedly the Final Chapter basically requires for the player to have Pass and a Rescue staff charge left to safely clear it without running the chance of getting murdered by Negative Chain. Regarding Benoit: Unless it tickles someone's fancy about taking like 1 damage from a general, tanking is never required in beating the game and it's still possible to mount stomp the game. Armor knights have consistently been garbage units with low move that offer little outside of the unneeded ability to tank multiple attacks. This isn't any different in Nohr Lunatic where the ability to tank is still unnecessary since strong Player Phases trump any need to tank enemies for 20+ turns a map. If we're talking about optimal play then characters that require investment for little payoff are weaker options than if they started good and stay good. I also find it a bit weird that Benoit is really being brought up for his defenses when Xander joins 2 maps after and is better in every practical way. Xander doesn't require any investment for his bases and he only gets stronger from there after speedwings, tonics and Charlotte pairup. I'd also argue that Benoit has effectively 1 chapter of availability (Ch14) over Xander since Ch13 has Benoit spawn up behind and in order to fight he needs to catch up with the rest of your units starting Turn 3. Yeah I'm not getting into this, but you should probably chill. We don't need any contests or displays on who's a better player or what even is an effective demonstration of skill.
  7. I'm surprised +Mag Levin sword Paladin hasn't come up yet. Consistent 1-2 range with 8 movement targeting res is amazing at killing things fast. You get like 3 Spirit dusts throughout Nohr and a +Mag pair up from Felicia puts Kamui over 1RKO thresholds for a long time. What's cool about Cavalier in Tier 1 is that Kamui can start building on their Lance rank and keep sword access for the stronger enemies bronze lances can't kill. (7mov is great in Ch10 too)
  8. Subaki is pretty good at assisting in Rescue skips since Rescue is E rank and you get 8 total charges throughout the game. His magic stat doesn't even need to be existent to use it either. Additionally healing can be left to your servants since staff WEXP and EXP gain is low enough that it's a not a net positive holding Subaki back to only eventually heal a few more points of HP. (It takes 20 heals to use Mend)
  9. Aptitude Gunther totally saves our old man from attaining scrubby-jeigan tier status. b
  10. Dedicated Pairup bots have no drawback as they're totally safe behind someone and they don't need good Atk for Dual Strikes like in Awakening. You could make an argument that they're not as needed in the midgame, but as the game progresses they're more beneficial than deploying someone that isn't a support unit and does no damage/dies easily. Promoting someone and sticking them behind someone for the rest of the game is the best use you can get out of characters like Charlotte too. Originally I thought Hoshido was like Nohr, where there's an emphasis on Player Phase, but Hoshido does nothing to prevent and basically encourages low-manning with strong units that kill mobs on EP. A smaller team of around 8-12 units+Pairup fodder can easily beat the game as Kamui/Hinoka/Ryoma are your main 1-2 range juggernauts for routs and Hinoka/Subaki are great at skipping defeat boss maps. Hinata is good at his joining time and he stays moderately relevant on his bases for longer than he's given credit for. Unpromoted enemies suck for a long time and they don't exclusively promote for a long time after Hinata joins. He also gives decent pairup bonuses as a Trueblade so after he drops off there's that option too.
  11. You actually obtain one of each statbooster (sans Boots and Divine Hurb) in Chapter 10. It's really stupid because the enemies are all hiding in ice and the armor carrying the Speedwing is in a 1x1 breakable area.
  12. Invisible Kingdom Lunatic is horrible for characters without high bases for their joining chapter as enemy stats are inflated and some of your units stats aren't properly adjusted for the inflation. Yuugiri has really good bases for her joining chapter (Ch11) on lower difficulties, however her stats are comparable to the several promoted enemies scattered in the map. She's still a fantastic unit, but her start is a lot less crazy compared to what it was on HM. One of my favorite examples for how unbalanced IK Lunatic is Odin who joins in Ch.17 where about 50-70% of the enemies are promoted (every enemy next map is promoted) Ch.17!Paladin stats: 41/23/1/16/16/10/21/17 32Atk 16AS Base Odin : 24/8/12/12/10/12/7/10 18Atk 10AS Odin deals 1 damage while getting 1HKO'ed and doubled. Nohr Lunatic doesn't have a dumb inflation and pretty much everyone is usable to some extent.
  13. I can confirm not choosing to recruit Asura results in a Speedwing rather than a pair of boots. The only set of boots you get in Nohr outside of the Link Bonus/Castle Visit awards is in Chapter 23 inside of a chest. If you keep Saizou alive in Chapter 17 (which is a huge pain on Lunatic since he has a death wish) you also recieve another Speedwing in the span of 2 chapters. I can see people foregoing recruiting Asura simply because they could just load up Xander or another unit with speedwings and steamroll the midgame while having a very strong unit in the lategame.
  14. You can't grind your staff rank in Chapter 14 because there's a few waves of cavalier reinforcements at the starting position after like turn 7-10. Unfortunately Warp isn't happening because Saleh starts too far away from A rank staves and FE8 is too short of a game to justify slowing down for it. I'm looking forward to the rest of the midgame timesaves though.
  15. They're still really good on Player Phase since you still activate Attack stance using them. Basically they're similar to the FE6 brave lance where it's a powerful Player Phase tool, but will wreck you on EP if you don't trade equip it off or kill everything in range.
  16. Maybe someday we'll finish drafting.
  17. Ch17 and Ch21 are defend maps that end immediately when you kill the boss. Ch13x, Ch24, Ch26, Ch29 are maps that will have the same exact turncount regardless if you kill the boss.
  18. blargharghargh edit: Even if you do reach the gate on Turn 4, Marcus can't 1RKO the boss with a steel axe without the energy ring/crit. I'll likely take the 5 turn and maybe recruit Guy or something. edit2: The lack of enemy thieves in Ch16 makes me mad. There's no way to collect the Knight Crest without deploying Matthew, although this could fall into necessary promotion items. I'm done playing for tonight so I'll check back later for whether it's allowed or not.
  19. We've reached the bottom of the barrel. I'll take Legault. I've also started the playthrough since the start of the game is set in stone. Chapter 11: 4/4 Turns Pretty standard Marcus carry to the gate. Eliwood and Bartre got a little bit of EXP, Lowen collects the Dragonshield before I end the map. I'm looking at Ch.12 and without Hector/Oswin this looks like a massive pain.
  20. Pent was still available so there was that.
