  1. Heath I'd second Ninils being free. Although if you wanted keep Serra free you can just leave Wallace/Geitz undraftable since no one will want to draft them. edit2: wow I'm an idiot in the morning, what I meant was make Wallace/Geitz free since they either don't exist or just suck horribly.
  2. I think you're 1 con short of BodyRing!Elphin being able to carry unpromoted Karel, in which case the dancers could just move all the way to the throne/gate. lol
  3. Sorry, I forgot that you have a PAL copy, the file is NTSC-U so that would probably cause problems. The file... might work? I'm leaning towards it being not possible since you can't do the actual transfer process with an NTSC PoR to a PAL RD. If you wanted to, you could get an NTSC RD rom set up on homebrew and be able to load up the save there. I could probably get a friend to edit the transfer file to make it more appropriate for an LTC playthrough if you want/can get it set up. I did a quick google search and the only thing that came up for PAL was a lame GFAQS save.
  4. It's possible to 1 Turn 4-E-5 on EM in speedrun constraints considering most characters aren't trained up. anyways if you're looking for a transfers file we use this one for speedruns http://www.speedrun.com/ferd/resources which is basically a file with everyone leveled to max level with perfect level ups and stat boosters being allocated accordingly. It's not perfect since it's for speedrunning purposes and I don't think people like Mist have Staff rank transfers and coins are definitely not transferred, but the PoR file is also there if you choose to edit it to your liking. I mean if transfers are being utilized you may as well go ham. More info on the transfers are here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1TQ-TLNOpkApIT0-GWwgry10vvrpD6tBg1k6by9idCH0/edit#gid=565777100
  5. and to throw you for a loop, enemies in 4-E were buffed (not sure by how much) in the English releases compared to the JPN version!
  6. I mean would you want to do runs with purposely having to skip the LM tutorials? (Edit I meant LNM runs. Those would be dreadful) The TAS does it from a complete fresh file and Lyn Mode becomes even more obnoxious with forced movements. Plus I'd probably fall asleep during the Ninian cutscene, I know I did when I replayed it on WiiU VC (Which might be faster than cartridge for loading times!). lol Personally I'd avoid making new categories since it causes division among bigger communities and makes it worse for games with like 2-3 runners. For Radiant Dawn runs we use a file that has been completed already because it's faster and less painful to sit through. For including Lyn Mode it's for convenience and completion sake. FE6 and FE12 are played out to the true endings despite it being longer too.
  7. This seems interesting and I have to echo what has already been said. Miracle/Fortune are pretty bad for Micaiah, she's only gaining some use at max level with it and in Part 1 it's worthless. I'd advise against Authority stars for Micaiah until Tier 2, imagine getting +15avoid for the opening chapters. The Dawn Brigade would want some improvements like durability changes to Edward/Leo/Aran to make them not a liability shortly past their joining chapters. Nerf Fiona
  8. Lyn mode is only 21ish minutes and it gains a good chunk of EXP for Florina. Missing her EXP and stat boosters hurts but leveling her up in Hector mode isn't a big deal so skipping LM is definitely possible. The broad definition of any% is a fresh file to the credits but there are always exceptions for the games depending on the runners. I mean Banjo-Tooie runs don't even do runs from a fresh file, they load up a pre-made save with optimal Jinjo patterns because it has been standardized by the community. FE7 speedruns were pretty much pioneered by Molotov and no one has objected to excluding LM. I don't mind that LM is included since it technically is the start of the game (Pro. - 10) despite being skippable on a second playthrough.
  9. I was looking into routing LHM and HNM earlier this week and came to the conclusion that the LHM stuff outside of early-early game is pretty optimal. The problem with changing the route to give Florina or Kent more EXP in LM, is that they have to save time later on to be worth the trouble. Florina gets by just fine with the amount of EXP she's given here, and Kent isn't needed excessively past LM. Kentadin would only save time later on in rout chapters since Marcus and RNG manipulation exist. Basically if you invest time into something, it better give returns later on. You should be trying to get through on the minimum and only grab things along the way or level up people if it'll save time. The AGDQ 2014 Bonus stream run is pretty outdated strat-wise, legrandgrand has been working on the game since the run and has improved the route a lot. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7ek8tCOqxls Full recruitment would be an interesting run, but you're only forced to go to Ch17x for Canas and 31x for Karla (Oh god, Bartre) and there's a lot of extra movement that isn't present in any% like recruiting Lucius or Jaffar.
  10. "Go!" - that countdown into Go at the start of the video is perfect. "The staff formula is nuts! I think it's multiplied by like... Five? "Yeah, Magic times 5" "Lets just leave an old lady unarmed with a bunch of dragon knights" 10/10 commentary, pls step your commentary game up dondon
  11. I want to say all of the stat boosters are going to be used but I got a feeling some boots aren't going to be used. I'm guessing all energy rings are used and 29/33 boots used.
  12. I got a long day today and now I'll be thinking about this all day. RIP They gave WTD to archers at melee range and now all they have to do is make the effective bonus 1.1x and Archers will be top tier. May as well remove them how broken they'll be.
  13. Cecilia got another kill? Cecilia confirmed best unit. Pack it up Miledy and Perceval because Cecilia is coming through.
  14. Thanks everyone for tuning in and donating. I'm so glad how the run went and feel like I gave my absolute best to deliver a run that I could look back on and be proud. I don't mind that the stream went down twice since both times I kept playing and they were like " Hold up, we lost our connection". It was a shame that the stream went down in 4-E when Sephiran and Dheginsea were being fought but there wasn't anything we could have done. My hands were cold the entire first hour and I was so nervous I couldn't think of anything to say. A special thanks to YayMarsha and ButtersBB for holding the commentary down and being supportive these past few days. Also I didn't mention that SF was the go to site for info and the community. I've brought shame on my family.
  15. Hey guys I hope you're all looking forward to the run tomorrow. The couch is ButtersBB and YayMarsha/Molotov and I'll do my best to correct anything that might come off as misinformation or odd. I'm generally goofy when I play but since the marathon is so big I'm going to do my best to focus on the game and not embarrass myself or do the series any injustices. The fact that Fire Emblem raised 2,000 as of right now is amazing and it's only going to raise as the run gets closer. I've been practicing there have been multiple occasions where a passerby stops and mentions something like "I love Fire Emblem! I'm looking forward to your run". Cool stuff Just echoing what others have said but I do prefer Radiant Dawn and believe it's a better watch. It's much safer since the second half of PoR gets risky and there's nothing you can do if Ike is put to sleep or if Marcia dies. This isn't relevant but I've beaten more stuff into the couch's heads about RD than PoR since there's a lot less going on. Bid for whichever game you prefer but just know I'll find all of you that bid for PoR if it wins. I want to let you guys know that I might plug SF at sometime during the run, probably at the end of the run where I have more freedom to talk things.
  16. It's a bit late into the evening but I uploaded a new Chapter 21 strat. This map is really annoying because of the armor's around and Tauroneo himself deal a lot of damage to Ike if they connect. Tauroneo has around a 64% hit rate (Neutral Bio) on you while the armors both have 40% (Again at neutral Bio). The swordmaster has a killing edge with a 55% hit rate and 39% crit rate. So Ike's survival relies on some luck and this can be fixed by giving him some BEXP however it takes him going from Level 6 to 9 for 1 Defense level. This should change with help of the Knight band since his Defense and Strength levels should be higher. I'll have to make a new file and start from scratch to test it out but I wanted to get this out there before heading off to bed. Ike has 41/17/11 Defenses and the Sleep staff bishop only has a 20-30 hit rate on him. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PhvLyF9jmdc&feature=youtu.be edit: found out how to embed youtube videos. That was way too simple for me to figure out on my own haha.
  17. This is actually Vykan's pitch he made when he submitted Radiant Dawn for the Marathon, I also put something like "Possible race with Vykan" in my pitch. If you look on the Google doc spreadsheet in the OP and find RD you'll notice Mike (Marathon organizer) put down "bid war, also this is a bad idea for a race". I don't think a race is an option at this point as much as I would love for one. Radiant Dawn being a first appearance has to have focused commentary which you might not be able to give in a race setting. Since AGDQ is aimed towards a casual audience I assume they don't want to overwhelm the viewer with two screens for a game they likely haven't seen before. Not to mention there's a ton of random factors throughout the game which can put either of us in the lead for no reason. Edward, Nephenee and the 4-4 sleep staff bishop are just a few. Also hilariously enough me and Vykan tried to race about a week ago, we resetted the race about 5 times before continuing because of Edward. (It was his luck with Edward, not mine lol) I'm off to class today and have tomorrow off so I'll upload some PoR stuff tonight or tomorrow afternoon.
  18. No offense taken. I run both games and prefer RD as a speedgame but PoR does have a special place in my heart. Path of Radiance actually lets you menu faster than RD but it's massively slowed down by the map animations. Check out the EndGame strats menu'ing. The bid war could be close or a complete blowout since RD is so polarizing with casual fans so I'm totally unsure what would even win.
  19. Hello everyone I submitted both Radiant Dawn and Path of Radiance about a month and a half ago for AGDQ 2015 and both made it past second cuts! The only thing left is for the marathon schedule to be made which should be coming out in a few weeks. Both myself and Vykan12 submitted RD and if we both make it to AGDQ he'll be running RD vs me running PoR in a bid war. I'll be keeping up in practice for both in case he can't make it. AGDQ stands for Awesome Games Done Quick held each January and it's a speedrunning charity marathon raising money for breast cancer research. This AGDQ's dates are January 4-10th? If I do run the game at the marathon I'll be running on Fixed mode to prevent bad level ups along with using the Growth Bands to further assist in Ike and Marcia's Defense stats. The late game section of the run is actually scary which worries me for consistency. My run estimate is a generous 2:30:00 when my Personal Best is an embarrassing 2:17:xx which can definitely go a lot lower. That being said the PoR route I am using at the moment can use some massive improvements since I used a mix of Chiki's old route and my own in the second half of the game. I'm not the best at routing and since PoR is different than other runs in which you must avoid combat as much as possible. I feel like I'm better at optimizing games better than routing them *shrugs* SDA Thread is here: https://forum.speeddemosarchive.com/post/agdq_2015_game_submissions_round_2.html Second cuts list is here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1ejuauu9R5W3_dJN97S2SrIAadHWq7EpZcdf2oWDTBRo/pubhtml# I'll have to figure out how to embed youtube videos/playlists but here is my Speedrun strat playlist. The opening section of the run is largely the same from Chiki's own route from earlier this year, I don't know if there's an updated run anywhere I so simply built on an older route. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLybTK2FNBqXJ6NVuWQf3jUyrmNbE4bkp_ I have school this week so I won't have too much time to update the playlist, I'll make some new videos this week but mostly just wanted to get this out there. After making these videos I improved on the Chapter 21 strat to not require the BEXP. Not even sure why I BEXP'ed Ike so much, Tauroneo and the enemies in the throne room can kill Ike but he did not need that much BEXP. Ike still wants as much durability as possible for Chapter 27 down the line as well. Having a good run at AGDQ would mean the world to me and would love to do the series some justice after last years marathon. I'm surprised FE got another shot only a year but I intend to do my absolute best to keep up in practice. I can also run the game on the Japanese version for the Critical glitch, this could save a ton of time and make for a better watch but I'm unsure and would like some opinions on it. The downside to the JPN version is my nerves could overwhelm me to forgetting Kanji patterns for simple commands if I'm unsure what I'm doing (practice and practice for this!). People can also be less attached to the run since it's a first appearance and being unable to read some text in an RPG. Thanks~
  20. Watching another GBA FE speedrunner named legrandgrand I noticed him also using the R-Switch (whatever you want to call it). It's depends on the situation and is only useful if you have the moves completely optimized in advance. I should point out legrandgrand is routing NM!FE6 based off of your old(?) route with some improvements. The run looks cool but compared to FE7 and FE8 there is so much more RN burning. FE6 as a speedgame is something I think I would try to avoid for awhile...
  21. I'll be following this closely and actually found your Youtube account by random chance and needless to say I watched FE7 0% growths all night several weeks ago. I love the informative commentary style that you deliver and look forward to seeing the rest of the run. I know next to nothing about FE6HM but I can help out with a cursor trick for what little value it has (Probably mentioned this unless I was thinking of something else). Looking from the deployment picture the order goes Shin, Perceval, Niime, Cecillia If you press R to open up the status screen you can scroll upwards through you units in the opposite order a L-switch would take you. You can move from Niime to Percy really fast. This is assuming the status screen you were talking about was the unit list and not this particular status screen, in fact you proabably already know about this switching method and I'm making myself look silly. Regardless Good luck with the playthrough and I'll be watching closely.
  22. Congrats to Molotov. The run was very entertaining to watch and fun to follow along with the minor optimizations. :3 What was nice in the stream chat there were a couple people that pointed out they never played a FE before but they liked the fast menu'ing, which made me proud to love FE the way I do (Ignoring the ResidentSleepers at the start of course). I don't want to sound too biased but I wish that run could have represented FE instead of the FE8 run we had several days ago. I donated as much as I could for FE7 and was disappointed the way things turned out. Here's hoping that even more people see your run and see what FE speedrunning is capable of. :3 Now RD for SGDQ 2014 please
  23. I'll join. Missed last race and it looked very fun.
