Linoan, Homeros, and Salem are cool too, Salem is the only one who can use Dark magic. Capture him. Don't kill him.

Use Olwen! She get's a Brave Thunder. Steal her's when you first see her, and from her brother. She comes with another once you recruit her.

Query: So we've established that staves can fix broken bones, close wounds, whatever. Do they also replace lost blood? (I've kind of been assuming that they don't, at least not regular Heal or Mend ones.)

Hell no they can't. That eliminates all major dangers of battlefield injuries. Blood loss should be strictly un-curable.
