  1. 1. What is your favorite musical genre

Recommended Posts

Alright guys, simple game, just tell the forest your 10 favorite musical acts. By acts I mean solo acts or bands.

Also, don't worry about the order, I don't mean that the final one is my absolute favorite, these are just my 10 faves.

1. The Heartbreakers/Traveling Wilburys

2. The Beatles + Solo careers

3. Motley Crue

4. Greenday

5. Rush

6. AC/DC

7. Michael Jackson

8. Iron Maiden

9. Rhapsody of Fire

10. Queen

Honorable Mention: Rammstein

For the heck of it, I've added a favorite genre poll. (accidently submitted before I was done with it)

Dixie Chicks

Alison Krauss & Union Station / Robert Plant and Alison Krauss

Lee Ann Womack

Trisha Yearwood (these are all country people tongue.gif)

Madonna

Rihanna

Sheryl Crow

Dido (okay her first two albums were kinda boring but her third one was amazing and poetic in my opinion)

Lady Gaga (eh kinda... I couldn't think of anyone else to put)

...

Yeah I'm stuck, I can't think of 10. But hmm, not much of a rock person and I'm probably like, the only person here that likes country unsure.gif. I also like classical too but I didn't know if I should include it in a favourite bands list.

Crap... I totally screwed over the Scorpions. They probably deserve a spot in my top 10, but I have no idea who I'd knock out.

Mostly metal, ranging from black to death to avant-garde to old school to goregrind to folk and more.

Among the few bands I could list as some of my favorites are Sigh, Emperor, Zyklon, Korpiklaani, Dio, Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Slayer, Venom, Mayhem, Immortal, Carcass, Carnage, Voivod, uneXpect and Dethklok (including Dr. Rockzo the Rock and Roll Clown of course).

The rest of what I listen to is pretty varied, usually either alternative or comedic. Add a bit of electro, a pinch of rap and some video game music, and that's roughly what I listen to.

None of those are metal. And personally, I think all those groups are all terrible.

Zyklon

Zyklon-B is far superior.

I am admonished of the fact that you did not include the genre of classical music in your poll, which is every bit and more prevalent to each of the named genres. It also happens to be my preferance when listening to music. Here are my favorite compositions.

Symphony #9 in D-minor -Beethoven

Mass in B-minor -Bach

Requiem Aternam -Mozart

Symphony 7 - Allegretto -Beethoven

Tocatta and Fugue -Bach

Symphony 1 in C-major -Beethoven

Romance for the Violin and Orchestra -Beethoven

Serenade&quot Eine klein Nachtmusik&quot -Mozart

Symphony 5 in C-minor -Beethoven

Symphony 40 in G-minor -Mozart

EDIT: it is g-minor. Thank you for correcting me Icey.

I love some of the pieces you listed, particularly Beethoven's Symphony 5, Eine Kleine Nachtmusik, and the Bach pieces. I believe Mozart's Symph 40 is in G minor though ;).

Metallica is thrash metal. But I agree, I don't like any of those bands either.

There's no such genre as generic rock.

Metallica is thrash metal.

They used to be a good thrash band, but now I don't know what the hell they play. Whatever it is, it's definitely not metal.

Metallica or aas i lay dying, neither qualify as metal to you? That's great.

As I Lay Dying isn't metal. Screaming and noise into a microphone isn't metal. Hurling a bucket of paint at a wall isn't art. When will people realise this?

My music went from stuff out of video games to random indie artist (I mean REALLY random). Some still write; others don't. Either way, it's up to you to find them.

In no particular order. . .

AKITO

Silvia (non-vocal works only)

SHIKI

Junk

void (I am not responsible for any mental trauma that is incurred if you find this artist's page)

Mystinia

kurena

keyc

cranky

taqumi (I don't understand why I like this artist)

As for genres, a tiny bit of classical rock, metal, a bit of punk/punk rock... and other. But other includes some that probably aren't "official" genres. Screamo is an official genre. Christian screamo? Probably not, but that probably just goes with screamo. My brother often mentions "mosh" genre, but I'm not sure I've seen that actually used. Think that's all of them.

As for favorite bands.... Probably won't end up in order of favoritism. Just what comes up in mind for me.

1. Underoath

2. The Devil Wears Prada

3. Secret & Whisper

4. The Almost

5. Pierce the Veil

6. Emarosa

7. Chiodos EDIT: changes her mind

8. Blessthefall

9. To Speak of Wolves

10. Isles & Glaciers (too bad they were only making that one cd)

The one that couldn't make the ten Bullet For My Valentine =( Why couldn't it be top 11?
