A Mostly Harmless Postgame

FOREWARD

This game was created for a few reasons. These reasons were to use a new template for role PMs that not only is easier and quicker for a host to use (I can make a PM in this template in under two minutes!), but also for players to more easily fake them. It was also to introduce some new roles. I also included a role that can continue to talk and play the game after dying on the village side, which would have the effect of making claiming to that player mandatory. Lastly, I wanted to experiment with making two village twins that know the other one is in the game, but not knowing which player is his twin. This was intended to allow the village to organize more quickly and easily, as they could clear eachother.

OVERVIEW

The earlygame was plagued by not only by the village not having a leader, but by their own damn inspector (Raymond) actively discouraging people from leading while doing absolutely nothing at all to have his clear lead. Even after Darros's death removed the horribly small chance that WoMC was a mole he took a good amount of time after that to finally told WoMC that he was clean, of course not telling WoMC his (Raymond's) role PM, which had the effect of WoMC not being able to tell Raymond he was a dumbass for not having a shout-out to Coach, and he also made sure to not tell WoMC to collect claims. Meanwhile Life had been trying to get to become village leader, which was good, except for the fact that Raymond wanted to subvert him at every turn, causing only Klein to claim to Life. Nobody else was really doing anything worth mentioning.

Something else worth mentioning was that some people (you know who you are) did not back up their role claims to other people (EDIT: they did eventually, but it took quite a while) with their role PMs, which has the effect of proving very little when everybody has a role PM that can be shared past night 0.

The late game was characterized by fucking everybody in the village putting their role PM out in the open, which is stupid on so many levels. I'll try and go through a few of those right now.

1.WoMC already had your role PM. WoMC was leading the village (though its understandable if you didn't know this, as he didn't go to any lengths to show it). Throwing your role PM out in the open will only make sure the mafia knows it, helping them better aim their kills.

2.See 1.

PLAYERS

The Hopeless; Winners?

[spoiler=Raymond Killed Night 1]You are Dr. Claw.

You are the boss of M.A.D., a criminal organization that does many illegal things. You also have many bumbling minons at your disposal.

At night you may reply to your role PM with “Night x – Focus cameras on USER” By focusing your vast camera network on USER, you will be able to discover his whole role PM.

You know that your friend Coach is somewhere in this game, but you are not sure which player he is.

You are allied with The Hopeless. You win if The Hopeless win.

Role: A standard inspector, with the knowledge of another character in the game to aid uniting the village.

Player: Raymond played a really poor game. He did not inspect Life Admiral night 0 so that he could lead, instead choosing to inspect WoMC. He started the game off with a fucking random vote, and did nothing to contact WoMC until after Darros died because of the restriction, and even then he didn't tell WoMC to go and lead even though he had an obviously disposable role. He didn't try and find Coach, and he made sure to subvert any attempts at leading the village while doing nothing to have his cleaned person lead. He was hoisted by his own petard in the end though, because BK-201 was protecting him on the night he was killed, but BK-201 was also being hooked by Mikethfc that night, which would have been easily preventable if there was a village leadership.

[spoiler=Life Admiral Killed Day 2]You are a tumbleweed.

You are a favorite of Westerns, in which you just blow around to provide a sense of desolation. You basically do the same thing in real life, just blowing from place to place scattering seeds once you are dry and mature.

While blowing around, you counted the number of people on each faction. Including yourself, there are 9 members of The Hopeless. You have also counted 3 members in The Luckless.

You are allied with The Hopeless. You win if The Hopeless win.

Role: A numbers role. It does what the name implies, simply knowing the numbers of the factions. Nothing more, nothing less.

Player: Life Admiral wanted to lead (literally the only person who tried to lead before WoMC got the leadership role shoved down his throat), but was hounded at every turn by Raymond for absolutely no apparent reason. He wasn't inspected night 0, Raymond undermined him when possible, and then WoMC decided to throw a posting restriction on him to kill him for a silly reason, which he forgot about and died because of. Him not being on very much didn't help things either.

[spoiler=JB25 Lynched Day 2]You are Scizor.

You are one of the most, if not the most, dominant forces in the OU metagame. With your steel typing and bullet punch and stuff, you are always taken into consideration nowadays.

At night you may reply to your role PM with “Night x – Bullet Punch” In the body of the PM you are to specify a message. You will then quickly punch your message into a large chunk of metal, which everybody will find and read in the morning.

You are allied with The Hopeless. You win if The Hopeless win.

Role: Announcer, with the ability to be used multiple times and to have its own dedicated section in the update. This role is easily provable, incredibly disposable, and you can likely expect to see it again.

Player: JB25 did not try and prove himself. At all. He even tried to distance himself from it with the message he gave for day 2...not a very good idea when you can prove your role so easily! Did not say anything for the day 1 update because he thought he couldn't think of anything to say, when just about anything would work. He didn't do much else, really.

[spoiler=Levity Killed Night 2]You are Joshua Moore.

You are the head administrator of the Serenes Forest forums, and some would say you've done a pretty crappy job of it over the years by forgetting backups and bitching at members who have bruised your ego, and you're probably going to forget to pay for the forums upkeep someday as well.

As the administrator of this site, you can't actually die in this game, since you'll just edit my posts to say that you're alive. However you not dying doesn't fit into my balance, so I've found a solution. Normal deadtalking rules do not apply to you. When you are dead other dead players may talk to you, and you may talk to living players. In addition, you can cast 1 more vote after you have died.

You are allied with The Hopeless. You win if The Hopeless win.

Role: Deadtalker, it does what its name implies, talking to dead and living players after death. An extra vote was given to it as well. In short, this role was basically designed for the purpose of leading the village.

Player: Levity did not do much of anything while alive, before being killed by Hemlock on night 2 because she wasn't doing much of anything. She had a nice opportunity to kill herself on day 1 after being kidnapped (which would have made claiming to her mandatory), but she didn't do that. Asked for claims after she died, but nobody claimed to her, a perfectly cleared villager, after that for no apparent reason.

[spoiler=BK-201 Killed Night 2]You are Coach.

You were a health teacher and and the coordinator for the freshman football team at a high school in Savannah before the zombies came. Your struggles have proven to you that teamwork and good weapons are important to surviving a zombies apocalypse.

At night you may reply to your role PM with “Night x - You gonna make it USER” If USER becomes incapacitated during the night you will help him up before he bleeds out, ensuring that USER survives the night.

You know that your friend Dr. Claw is somewhere in this game, but you are not sure which player he is.

You are allied with The Hopeless. You win if The Hopeless win.

Role: Bodyguard, with some information about another character in the game to help the village unite.

Player: BK-201 didn't really talk to very many people. He claimed to WoMC around the same time a few other people did, and then he was killed by The Luckless because they had narrowed down to a few people because so many people put their claims out in public. Also didn't try and find Dr. Claw. He would have probably lived longer if his team didn't make it easy enough for The Luckless to find him. Once again Hopeless, great job narrowing down the search for The Luckless here.

[spoiler='Hemlock Survived]You are Lex Luthor.

You are the President of LexCorp, and the archenemy of Superman. You are so intelligent that you take Superman on only using your brains, and do a pretty good job of it.

At night you may reply to your role PM with “Night x – Take 40 cakes from USER” While nobody is looking, you will take 40 cakes from USER, causing him to die from grief. However, this is a terrible act, and the police will start a manhunt, but a manhunt is nothing to you. However, after doing it again, the police will start a massive manhunt, which will stop you from doing it again. Therefore, you can only do this twice.

You are allied with The Hopeless. You win if The Hopeless win.

Role: Two-kill vigilante.

Player: Hemlock killed Levity for no discernible reason. He was also one of the people who shoved leadership down WoMC's throat.

[spoiler=Kleine Survived]You are Captain Jack Sparrow.

You are the Captain of the Black Pearl and her crew of pirates. You have a love of rum, and are somewhat eccentric.

At night you may reply to your role PM with “Night x – I've got a jar of dirt USER!” You will show off your jar of dirt to USER all night, and since you are with him during the night, you will learn who USER visits during the night. If USER doesn't visit anybody during the night, you will instead learn who visited USER that night.

You are allied with The Hopeless. You win if The Hopeless win.

Role: Tracker/Watcher. Tracks a person, and if that person doesn't visit anybody, it watches them, increasing the chance that some information will be learned.

Player: Kleine targeted Life Admiral on the nights 0 and 1, learned that BK-201 visited him night 0, and WoMC visited him night 1. Targetted WoMC on night 2 and learned he visited Proto. Also part of the “Shove Leadership on WoMC whether he likes it or not” group.

[spoiler='mikethfc Survived]You are Arthur Dent.

Your home was demolished shortly after you got up, and then your planet was destroyed a bit later making a bad day even worse. You've gone many places in the universe over the years and have done many things.

At night you may reply to your role PM with “Night x – Fall in front of USER” You will fall, but forget to hit the ground, causing you to fly. USER will be so stunned by your disregard for the laws of physics that he will fail to complete any actions that night. However, he will become accustomed to this bizarre phenomenon after seeing it, so you may not target the same USER two nights in a row.

You are allied with The Hopeless. You win if The Hopeless win.

Role: Village hooker, with the restriction that he can't repeatedly target one person.

Player: Mikethfc played an instrumental role in assuring Raymond's death on night 1 by hooking BK-201, who was protecting Raymond. Hilariously enough, it could have been avoided if Raymond wasn't so damn opposed to his own team uniting. Also claimed to WoMC (and in public like everybody else. Said that hooker was an unconventional role for the village, which is too bad because you can expect me to keep using it this way as its one of the three most powerful roles a village can get.

[spoiler=WoMC Survived]You are Darros.

One of the worst characters in FE11, Mekkah started a “Darros Sucks” thing since you sucked so much. However in FE12 you don't really suck anymore, which has slightly silenced critics.

At night you may reply to your role PM with “Night x – Threaten USER” You will threaten USER (as your not sucky FE12 version), and make him follow a post restriction which you should specify in the body of the PM. If USER does not follow the restriction, you will chop him up into little pieces, killing him. You should check with me beforehand to make sure that the restriction you give will be allowed. There are some restrictions on what you can set here though.

To start you off, here are some things that you CANNOT do with this ability. You cannot silence players, alter player's votes, or make players claim. There are other restrictions in place that will come up as you bring them up that I hadn't considered that I will not allow to happen for balance reasons.

You are allied with The Hopeless. You win if The Hopeless win.

Role: A post restrictor. Penalty for breaking his restrictions is death. In my head this role was the shittiest role in the game, because certainly nobody would dumb enough to let it kill them. Yeah, goes to show how much I can predict from you guys.

Player: WoMC got two mafia and the guy trying to lead his team killed. Big whoop. He could have just as easily fucked his own team. Also had the honor of having leadership shoved onto him, whether he liked it or not. He didn't seem like he liked it.

The Luckless

[spoiler=Luckless Team PM]Greetings members of The Luckless. This is your team PM, and obviously, it contains information about your team.

You have assembled here to pursue your goals that The Hopeless are standing in the way of. You cornered Yoda in a dark alley and beat him to death before this game started, so you know that he isn't in this game. You also know that The Hopeless do not have a BPV (short for Bulletproof Vest, a role that can survive one killing attempt at night). Lastly, you know that you are the only anti-town faction in this game. Your members are:

Dracohon- Terra-Tron (Inspector)

Darros- A blue Pikmin (Kidnapper)

Proto- Batman (Mole and mayor)

To make a kill your members should send in the following at night in this conversation “Night x – Send USER1 to kill USER2” USER1 must be a member of The Luckless, and USER2 must be a member of The Hopeless. USER1 will then kill USER2 that night, with the kill flavor varying depending on which member is making the kill. The kill flavor is:

Terra-Tron- Crushed to death by the whole damn base.

A blue Pikmin- Bludgeoned to death by numerous cute little carrot-like creatures.

Batman- Arrested and sent to jail for the remainder of the game, effectively killing them.

May you bring victory and honor to yourselves.

Comments: This was the team PM given to The Luckless. It details their members, their kill method, tells them that they are the only anti-town group in the game, and gives them a bit of fake claim material.

[spoiler=Darros Killed Day 1]

You are a blue Pikmin.

You are one of the small creatures called Pikmin that inhabit a strange alien planet. Your particular variant of Pikmin have gills, and as such, cannot drown in water.

At night you may reply to your role PM with “Night x – Drag USER” You will call on the aid of your Pikmin buddies and will drag USER all the way to your Onion, which he will be trapped in for the following day and night, and will only be released at the end of the night after he was trapped there. While trapped inside the Onion USER may not post in the thread or communicate by PM or IRC. If USER communicates anyways the Onion will convert him into blue Pikmin, killing him. Additionally, while trapped in the Onion, USER may not use any abilities, or be the target of the lynch or any abilities.

Your allies are listed in a separate PM.

You are allied with The Luckless. You win if The Luckless win.

Role: The role is a kidnapper, which as it implies, can kidnap players. It has the effect of silencing the victim for a cycle and also being a delayed hook on the victim. The penalty for breaking the silence is death. I choose to have the victim stay kidnapped for a cycle because any less and it couldn't delay hook, but any more and it would be discouraging to the victim.

Player: WoMC slapped him with a posting restriction on night 0, which he forgot about, causing his death. He kidnapped Levity which was absolutely worthless because she had no night role anyways and could have just killed herself and became the instant village leader. He also did not try and take the safe claim that was provided, even though his role was more important than Dracohon/Lightning's.

[spoiler='Proto Killed Day 3]You are Batman.

You're the goddamn Batman. The crimefighting hero of Gothom City, you can afford to fight crime because you're so rich. You're so badass that your only superpower is being Batman.

If you are ever inspected you will appear as the following:

You are Batman.

You're the goddamn Batman. The crimefighting hero of Gothom City, you can afford to fight crime because you're so rich. You're so badass that your only superpower is being Batman.

At night you may reply to your role PM with “Night x – Tailing USER” You will follow USER around in the Batmobile, and if USER or anybody allied with USER tries to kill you that night they will cause the Batmobile to explode. You will be severely injured, but will survive. Everybody will think you are dead while Alfred is patching you up at the Batcave, and he'll be done fixing you up by the end of the day. If you successfully fake your death you will gain the ability to inspect a player at night and determine his alliance.

You are allied with The Hopeless. You win if The Hopeless win.

You do not have the ability to fake your death. However, because you are the Batman your opinion carries more weight than a normal person's would. As such, your vote towards lynches counts as two.

Your allies are listed in a separate PM.

You are allied with The Luckless. You win if The Luckless win.

Role: A mole and mayor rolled into one. The mole part was so that he could get himself inspected and into the village's inner circle, which arguably never emerged. The mole part became absolutely worthless after Raymond died. The mole part was a rouge designed to give a large incentive to The Hopeless to use up one of their vigilante's kills on him to activate his power, which obviously would be bad for the player that actually has this role.

Player: Proto didn't really do a whole lot other than use the information the town gave him to narrow the bodyguard down to mikethfc and BK-201 (and Levity too I think). The first two were both good targets, and he ended up picking BK-201. He was also anal-retentive about asking me about his posting restriction, and then he died to it anyways.

[spoiler='Dracohon/Lightning Lynched Day 3]You are Terra-Tron.

You are the omega supreme defense for high priority regions. You are created by nearly all of the structures in a Terran base flying together to transform into you.

At night you may reply to your role PM with “Night x – Terra-Tron! Terrorize USER!” Using your massive frame, you will terrorize USER into giving you his role PM.

Your allies are listed in a separate PM.

You are allied with The Luckless. You win if The Luckless win.

Role: Mafia inspector. Moving along.

Player: Dracohon didn't do very much at all, IIRC, and he had to go someplace so Lightning tagged in. He also couldn't construct a fake PM ahead of time even though he knew a character not in the game and a role not in the game, and had a growing amount of role PMs to reference.

CLOSING

So, what have we learned this game? Well, we learned that games are made with the idea that somebody with a disposable role (which in this game would be Life, WoMC, JB25, or Levity) is going to get themselves cleaned by the inspector on night 0 and will then collect claims on day 1. And I'm just going to throw this out there for future reference. Random voting is a good way to fuck over your team pretty quickly in my games. They are designed so that somebody will collect claims and for somebody to coordinate the night actions, get the results of the actions, lynch the suspicious claims, etc. I'm sure that Mikethfc would have loved to have not hooked BK-201 on night 1.

Keep these things in mind for my games in the future.

Priorities

Arthur Dent>Captain Jack Sparrow and Coach>Lex Luthor>The Luckless's nightkill>Dr. Claw and Terra-Tron>Scizor and Darros>Blue Pikmin

Captain Jack Sparrow still learns who Arthur Dent visits, despite having a lower priority.

Wait, did the priorities say I played the worst or got the worst role? Well I already knew I played the worst... but.

I prefer scumhunt to follow the leader. Fortunately, Kingmaker is specifically designed for follow the leader.

And not playing follow the leader allowed your inspector to get killed because the bodyguard protecting him was being hooked by his own teammate (no offense mike), which again was totally preventable.

This. Had I known that this game was designed to become "follow the leader", I wouldn't have joined in the first place.

Also, no matter how stupid you make me look, I don't feel like I've done much wrong other than forgetting about the "there's your friend in this game, find him" part. It has happened to me before in another game that I investigated someone, got a clear result, and ended up claiming cop to that person, who later (after killing me) turned out to be the godfather, so I was kinda paranoid about claiming cop at all this time. Especially when the player in question is Life, as it has been proven multiple times by now that I suck at predicting him.

Also: dear mafia, would you kindly consider not killing me the very second you get a chance to do so next time? It's kinda starting to suck to instantly die in each game I'm not scum in.

He was hoisted by his own petard in the end though, because BK-201 was protecting him on the night he was killed, but BK-201 was also being hooked by Mikethfc that night, which would have been easily preventable if there was a village leadership.

Fucksocks did I screw up. I just wnet for him as he seemed to be trying to blend in.

Also I've no problem with the hooker being a village role, just to claim hooker and leave it at that would've made me look like a mafia.

EDIT:Late because I've been in Wales since the day after Lightning confessed.

Well I think as the hopeless we lived up to our name
