Training arena level ups fixed?

Recommended Posts

Just noticed this on a Japanese site, has anybody noticed that the amount of level up gains in the battle preparations arena is slightly fixed, akin to FE10's BEXP level ups?

Apparently, it takes the character's growth rate total and rolls a random number (presumably from 0-99) to determine the number of stat gains. Eg. Marth's growth rate total is 395, if the RN is 94 or less, then he will gain 4 stats, but if it's 95 or more he will gain 3 (so in most cases, he would gain 4 stats).

I did a few quick tests myself and the results seem to agree with the description. Although once you begin capping stats, I believe it ignores that stat's growth rate.

Not sure if it's been discussed before, I did miss quite a few weeks worth of FE12 topics/news ^^

I don't think they're like the BEXP levels from FE10. One time, Ellerean gained like just defense(lol), so levels might not be fixed(or there's like a formula involving which class you gain exp from like in fixed mode.)

I think this is right; I noticed this a while ago but decided not to post on it since I was not completely sure whether this was what was happening or what.

As an example I took Arran and through savestates leveled him up a lot of times. He never gained more then two stats, but I can't remember him gaining none, always being at least one. This was significantly different from Est, who got 4 or 5 stat ups regularly.

That's a nice find. Presumably they added that so you can't reload until you get a stat up in every stat.

I was recently searching all around the JP web for some turn counts or any rank above A and didn't find anything.

I don't think there's any signs of a rank above A in the data, in the obvious places that I looked.

I'm planning on looking into turncounts, but it will take a long time. It doesn't help that you can't skip the Epilogue like in FE7 >___<

Also, this is only slightly related, but I think it's possible to increase a stat by 2 with an exactly 100% growth rate. I'm not sure what the actual chance of it would be though. From what I can see, 0% growths can't ever lead to a stat increase, at least not factoring in dynamic growths or etc.

If a unit breaks 100% growth (like Ogma the Fighter), will the +2 be counted as one of the stats that goes up, or two?

For high-growth units, I'd probably use the status arena to level. For units with lower growth, I'll take my chances outside.

I'm doing some level ups in the arena, and I've found pretty strong evidence this is true.

Ogma always gets exactly three stats, no matter how many times I reset. Linde, on the other hand, got 4. (she has a higher growth total as I recall)

Sirius gets 4 most of the time, but he did get a 3 once. So I think it's about a 90-10 ratio.

So basically, the prep arena is like BEXP, that you have to pay for.

Also, for anybody who uses the Maturity Drop, there seems to be signs that it doesn't work in the training arena. A +40% growth total might not be something you want to discard.

EDIT

Hmm, maybe I did something wrong before... The Maturity Drop does seem to have an effect. Also, I think it gives +20% HP growth and +10% growth to the other stats. I need to check a bit more thoroughly first though.
