Lloyd, Dorcas and Karel sold me the game, the two least popular characters lol. It was the first FE game I played when I was young with Sacred Stones coming right after it. I found her side-plot predictable and I didn't see any reason to use her since I had a strong team long before she joins. Personally, I never planned out the pairings and I ended up finishing the game. Then again, I'm basic so I ended up with choosing the more popular ones anyways. Even if you mess up pairings, the game will still hand you a way to beat the game. I'd suggest reading up on the Secret Events and the mechanics though.
