eclipse
Chapter 14 - 7/109 Darros and Bord to Pirate. Someone gave me the brilliant idea of using the Arms Scroll on Abel so he can be an Armorslayer on wheels. This saved a turn. I had Boah kill the starting ballista, Rickard hit the bridge, and everyone else flew down. Abel was able to sponge the Ridersbane hit, and my generic was used to keep projectiles off of him, and to trade the Door Key to him. Abel opened the door, Marth ran through, stuff died in that room, and then came the boss. Physic was a lifesaver, as Abel would've been 2HKO'd. Marth was doing pathetic damage to the boss, so I had him kill the cleric instead. Oh, right, everyone else. . . Jake and Beck prove their worth by bombing the Fortify dude. Wendell, Jagen, Rickard, Vyland and Bord attempt to get the Silver Card, but I am short a turn. Wendell blicked the Sniper, much to everyone else's disappointment. Darros and Wendell were on save point duty. The pope hat is amazing. Just look at what it did to Boah! The extra turn was to ensure that Abel hit level 20, so I can make the next chapter less stupid. Abel and Marth wander into the desert, while Darros takes his own path in by walking across the river. Everyone else stays behind to kill the nearby enemies. Gharnef has problems killing Horace, so I switch him out for another generic. . .then Gharnef managed to miss twice, so I facepalmed. Jagen snagged the Energy Drop. I won't record Bord's stats as a Hunter, since he's going right back to Pirate, and he didn't level. eclipse
Chapter 16 - 6/121 Bord to Hunter, Abel promoted to Dracoknight. Marth dashed his full move on every turn (obviously). I positioned Jake and Beck fairly far forward. This was so that they could take out the Fortify dude on turn 1, and snipe the guys in the prison on turn 2. Abel, if positioned correctly, can take a Door Key and open the prison on turn 1. I think the Silver Sword guy went down to Beck (Hoistflamme) and Jagen with a Javelin, while Abel had either doubled or critted the Levin Sword one on Enemy Phase. Either way, Marth was front and center, which allowed Xane to recruit himself. Back outside, I had Wendell and Boah share Excalibur to take out two of the flying annoyances, while Bord and Vyland teamed up to take out the third one. Abel then flew into range of the Steel Bow, because I knew he was tough enough to take the hit and live with a decent margin. On turn 3, Jagen opened the far cell door, while Abel was healed by Boah with Heal and Wendell with Physic, then flew due south to kill the Killer Bow guy (then was teamed up by a lot of different things, and survived by like 7 HP). On turn 4, I realized that I had forgotten to equip the Rapier, so I used my ballista to kill the first thing in Marth's way. Jagen with Ridersbane had just enough to kill a second unit, and Abel had just enough movement to make it south to kill a third unit in Marth's way. Wendell did his best to keep up. On turn 5, Wendell had just enough Move to get to Abel, and use Mend (21 HP). Abel flew north as far as he could, and downed a vulnerary (31 HP). Marth and co. ran for all they were worth. Xane came out of the corner he was hiding in to distract the Javelin enemy that had somehow survived Abel's rampage. Meanwhile, Rickard and Caeda had been running the other way - Rickard for the save point, and Caeda for shopping. On turn 6, I concluded my shopping, and had Jake and Beck screw around a little with Thunderbolt (one of them connected for 7 damage, which wound up saving the run). I had Abel Silver Lance the boss, then facepalmed hard when he missed one of his 93% attacks, and was critted in return (leaving him with 4 HP). Rickard hit the save point, because I had to fall back to Plan B, and this one required some luck. Jagen had to land a 79% shot with a Silver Lance, avoid a 22% critical, then Darros had to finish with a 55% Hammer (calculated odds: 42.7%, which is far greater than my 0.91% chance of missing with Abel). I got it on my third try, then Marth seized, and I facepalmed again. Speedwings to Bord, because I needed him to survive something, and he needed a little more quickness to do so. Turn 1 had Marth open the door, while Abel ran inside and wrecked stuff. On turn 2, the armors decided to be pesky, so Abel ran back to kill one, while Darros let himself in and Hammered the other one. Bord, on Barrier, chipped the VIP Card Bishop, then I had Horace paste himself near a wall. Jagen killed the Swarm guy, Marth stopped two spaced behind Jagen, and Vyland positioned himself between the two. On turn 3, Abel killed the boss with Wyrmslayer, Darros used a Hand Axe to send the VIP card to storage, my ballista got Fortify, and Bord smacked the Sniper for a bit more experience, while Wendell and Boah got some staff usage in. Vyland fished the Card out for Jagen, who got me several useful items (one being an extra Killing Edge). Rickard was on save point duty again. I'll see if I can level him a bit on this next map. eclipse
Chapter 18 - 6/130 Promoted Darros and Bord, and reclassed both to Hero. Marth had some leeway, so Abel went ahead of him, and murdered everything. Jake and Beck had fun bombing things randomly, and my Heroes were able to rearrange some faces with Poleaxes. Even Vyland managed to get a word in sideways. Speaking of, I need to promote him. My shopping list, in terms of importance: - Every single Sphere - Speedwings - Bullion - Seraph Robe - Spirit Dust Jagen took off with a Door Key and Master Key, and ran for the Speedwings. Rickard managed a couple of kills before getting the Geosphere and Seraph Robe. Vyland got a Door Key and the other Master Key, and got the Bullion. A generic ferried the Master Key to Wendell, who got the Spirit Dust. Jagen handed off the other Master Key to Darros, who got the Starsphere. Lightsphere guy died normally. Jagen wasn't fast enough to double ballista, so I had to use a Thunderbolt to help. Both starting Generals were blicked super-fast, then I managed to kill two of the three Paladins. The last one targeted a well-placed Xane, which meant that ballista + Vyland + Jagen could kill it next turn. Darros tagged along with Marth, while Bord ran back south to kill stuff with Rickard. eclipse
Final thoughts Pretty sure I could've done this in 162, if I'd been thinking a little harder. I know several of my team members cost turns, but they all pulled their weight. This was probably one of the more solid teams I've ever drafted. Marth - I leveled him so he'd be able to take hits and occasionally dish out damage. It looks like it worked. Abel - Started slow, then realized that he was the star, and acted accordingly. MVP, obviously. Jagen - Amazing earlygame, and held things together until Abel came to his own. Still did a decent job all the way to the end. Bord - Early Hammer/Devil Axe usage was clutch, and his slow but steady Speed gain gave me the idea to turn him into a Horseman and give him Parthia. Darros - Mini-Bord! Another underrated guy (well, not in NM), because the Devil Axe in earlygame is amazing. Vyland - He did okay. I don't regret picking him! Wendell - It's gotta be the hat. Excalibur got me out of several tight spots, and staffbotting made him eternally useful. Rickard - I like my items, and Rickard made it possible. Turned out to be decent in the end, by having just enough HP to weather things. Jake - Ballista are great on the harder modes, and he costs no turns to recruit. He paled a bit in comparison to Beck, but when they teamed up, annoying things died. Boah - Staffbot the second. Once he reclassed to Sage, he became Wendell's Frailer Clone. Drafting him means missing out on Tomas, but I think Boah does well as a healer. Beck - I don't care if he cost me two turns, he helped me to get past Chapter 13 in a jiffy. They get rid of those things I can't otherwise kill efficiently (Chapter 16 Fortify Curate, I'm looking at you).

eclipse
If you can get them without ridiculous amounts of rigging, then more power to you. But if you're rigging 5% crits, I won't be happy.
PKL
I dont rig crits at all, i play on cartridge. I hate chapter 1 in the hard modes so much >_>. At least theres free meatshielding...I will probably start tomorrow.
eclipse
I play on cartridge, too, and thanks to save points, it's possible to rig crits. I usually use them to make sure I don't accidentally kill someone off.
PKL
I use them if something good happens or just so i dont have to restart the whole chapter if something bad happens. Hmm...gordin and caeda only for earlygame. This will be rough >_>.
eclipse
You start with Caeda and Gordin (good luck, 'cause Gordin's doubled if he's holding onto a Steel Bow). After that, you get Castor, who is THE target for Chapter 2 attacks. Good luck, man.
PKL
Haha yeah. This team kinda sucks except for caeda...maybe wolf if i can get him up to par quickly.
PKL
Oh gawd...earlygame has been hell just as predicted. I did up to chapter 3. Chapter 1 was done in 10 turns. Chapter 2 was done in 6 turns and chapter 3 done in 9 turns. The worse so far was chapter 3. None of my units had reliable ways to beat the boss. Jagen had like 57 ish hitrate and was doubled. What i did was patch up jagen with a vulnerary and park in front of the boss with the silver lance. Then caeda hit him with the win spear and jagen finished him off. Stats and my log tomorrow. I think i used too many win spear. I have 21/28...hope it doesnt bite me later. EDIT: oh man, lena died. I guess i cant recruit mathis now. Not like i miss out on much. Lena not being able to outrun navarre and the thieves was good in a way though. Castor got to gang up with gordin on a thief for the kill and an hp str spd level before marth seized. PKL
Chapter 4 7/32 Down to 17/28 Win Spears now. Im kinda worried. Had my generic meatshield stuff while Caeda and Jagen did all the man work and Marth got a few kills with the Rapier. Gordin was made a curate for this chapter. Chapter 5 4/36 The meatshield brigade (Hardin and his incompetent lackies) drew the fire to them while my group just rushed to the throne. Caeda win spear's the boss and GG. I had the other irrelevant characters like Gordin Castor and Wolf take on the thieves. Chapter 6 8/44 General Wolf saves the day! I had him weaken enemies while Caeda Jagen and Castor picked off the weakened enemies. I also distracted the mage and archer with meatshields so I didnt have to handle so many enemies at once. Caeda finished the boss and Marth was free to seize. Gordin almost died due to an oversight but the silver lance cavalier didnt get to him by...1 TILE. YES 1 TILE. Gordin is the luckiest son of a mofo ever. Chapter 6x 20/44 Made Wolf a Hero and had him spam Iron Axe like there's no tomorrow. Gaggles trailed behind him training his staff rank. Castor is actually quite competent as a mercenary. I approve. Edited May 7, 2012 by PKL
PKL
Dang, ch 9's boss is a pain. Caeda is almost at B lances, like 4 more attacks and she hits it but the first try, she didnt get to B lances in time. Castor is amazing against the pirates in chapter 9, berserker wolf is awesome but they dont leave many enemies to use caeda on...first try I 6 turned it with no silver lance ( with wing spear, wolf hand axe and jagen silver lance) but if caeda hits silver in time, just a silver from jagen and caeda will be enough... I couldve 4 turned it but that wouldve required a Gradivus crit in a very risky situation. I had a plan to make Medeus fall in Turn 5 by sacrificing Radd but Caeda instead crit, not like it mattered since it only saved poor Radd's life. Marth- sucked big time in earlygame but gaidens helped him catch up. Overall not too bad. Caeda- MVP hands down. Most of my strategies revolved around her one way or another. Shes just amazing. She required 3 drops and multiple other boosters but she was worth it. Jagen- clutch for earlygame, useful in midgame and then had utility (getting the boots, secret shopping, opening doors and stuff). Hes so awesome. Gordin- haha, staffbotting is like the only thing this guy can do and he does it pretty horribly. Castor- got blessed in earlygame and then stopped proc'ing stats so he kinda got benched. I fed him an arms scroll and regret it. Wolf- whoa this guy is nuts. Second MVP. His growths are amazing and once he gets going, STUFF DIES. Radd- never procs spd/10. Seriously, I went a little overboard with Cavalier with him. Probably shouldve spammed myrmidon for a few more chapters so he didnt require 4 speedwings...overall, not too bad, had pretty damn good durability. Elice- staffbot/10. Matthis- Sorry, Lena died so I couldnt recruit you, Not like he wouldve done much... Horace- yeah, you are annoying when im trying to train my units, you kept killing marf so I just said screw it and hammered you with Wolf. >:( Tiki- heh, like im going to recruit bantu just for you. Stupid loli dragon. Lorenz- i couldve recruited him but i had exactly 15 units so I had caeda kill him instead.
PKL
Interesting, my total time to finish the draft was 5:55. Although it was probably a bit more than that because i reset in ch 2 1 time, 1 time in ch 3, 1 time in ch 9 to get caeda to B lances the second try, 1 time in ch 12 and 2 times in ch16 (i had done the chapter without zerker wolf and the enemies near the boss cockblocked marf) and 1 reset in ch 24. So the actual time was like 7 hours or so. Edited May 10, 2012 by PKL
charlie_
Taking over for JB. Chapter 1 - 9 turns (9) I sell Shiida's spear and Gordin's bows to buy a Javelin. Jagen rushes to the fort, and Marth comes up behind. All of the undrafteds are used to bait the Pirates, and all die except for Draug who survived sitting on the fort. The boss is killed by Jagen waiting on enemy phase 7, Marth on player phase, and Jagen finishing. Ogma and Marth kill the two Pirates, Ogma decided to crit the second one for no good reason. Jagen rushes ahead and does decent damage to a lot of enemies, and Ogma kills off Castor. Marth was on low health, so Jagen and Ogma protect him as he chugs the vulnerary, and Jagen steals it to heal himself too. Darros recruits himself just in time to be sent to his death and keep some dudes off Jagen while he waits in front of the boss. Ogma attacks next turn, Jagen finishes and Marth seizes. The trio rushes westward as Lena and Julian get as far away as they can. After turn 3, Julian turns back to take a stand and stall Nabarl. He dies next turn. Ogma, Jagen and Marth managed to finish the enemies with careful shuffling of the two Steel Swords. Jagen decided to nuke the boss rather than letting Ogma take the kill =/ Unit Class Level HP Str Mag Skl Spd Lck Def Res Weapon Marth Lord 4.01 20 8 0 6 9 8 8 0 Sword - D Jagen Pally 4.08 25 7 1 10 9 3 9 6 Sword - D, Lance - B Ogma Merc 6.57 24 7 0 12 12 5 8 0 Sword - C Lena Cleric 3.00 16 0 2 7 8 8 3 7 Staff - C Chapter 4 - 9 turns (37) Jagen and Ogma tag teamed the Thief. Because of this, Ogma got a point of Str so he loses no AS with the Steel Sword. I had 4 mounts rush left, one keep the hunter out of the way, and sent the rest of my generics hold back the Fighters. Marth and co rush left, Lena grabs Matthis after he attacks her so he's off my back and ready to wall. Marth personally had to kill one of the Horseman and the boss himself, which cost me a turn each. eclipse
Sounds like you killed of Caeda. Good luck, dude. Navarre's Killing Edge got me out of a lot of sticky situations.
charlie_
I'm sort of regretting it tbh, it might have given Ogma the offense to help me with those pesky Horseman among other things so far. Earlygame has been really tricky with so few units so far why did you have to take Darros D:
