MacLovin
Oh god, it's like a Rock GOd took a shit. .5/10. Really, really bad in 3rd gen.
Shadow Mir
1/10. It has good defense, but that's about it. It doesn't help that it's a defensive Pokemon with one of (if not THE worst) typings a defensive Pokemon could have.
BBM
With Onix's stats, the first thing that you see is that massive defense. But... that's about it. It's one of the weakest Pokemon in the game, and it's low HP doesn't help it on the physical side, while also making it even more weak to special attacks. Onix's attacks hurt about as much as dropping a ping pong ball on your foot. It's a defensive Pokemon with possibly the worst typing for a defensive Pokemon. Not to mention it's gym performance. It joins before Erika, and if you use Onix in that battle stop playing Pokemon. It's not good against Koga either since three of his Pokemon are immune to Dig (which is the strongest STAB it gets without the Earthquake TM or the Move Tutor for Rock Slide). Sabrina is again, terrible for Onix. I guess it's OK against Blaine, and the Ground-type weakness keeps it out of Giovanni's battle. As for the Elite Four, Onix shouldn't be facing any of them, for a few reasons. First of all, it's either weak to their type (Lorelei and Bruno), they use special types (Lance), the opposing Pokemon are outright immune to Earthquake (4 of Agatha's Pokemon) or a combination of those. For Gary, it's probably only going to wall Pidgeot and be a stumbling stone for Charizard/Arcanine. That's it. 0.2 - One of the worst Pokemon in this game. This is my vote, so Onix gets a 0.

Espinosa
Lost its special attack after gen 1, but is available very early and comes with Confusion right off the bat, bracing itself for a large portion of the game where psychic-type moves are really handy to have. Compared to Kadabra, Hypno is noticeably slower and doesn't hit as hard, but has no stage where combat is entirely absent; however, its bulk (especially special bulk) gives it an opportunity to survive the blows Kadabra wouldn't be withstanding when it fails to secure OHKOs of its own (which technically shouldn't be happening if you're using such a frail glass cannon). Hypno's offence is mediocre, but comparable to something like Clefable or Nidoqueen, and what one should remember is that early Psychic it doesn't require a TM to learn. It's also a candidate for Calm Mind but lacks the special coverage (not counting the elemental punches you can get via breeding). Hypno's a good Pokemon against Koga, Sabrina (Psych Up if they use Calm Mind and hit them with your best physical moves and/or Psychic after Psyching Up), Giovanni's dual-poisons and a good portion of the E4, though it doesn't appreciate being hit with Shadow Ball. You could even give it Brick Break so that it can face more Magnetons and Raticate without getting itself hurt, as its phys and spec attack are actually equal (nothing will quite match Psychic in dealing damage reliably though). 7/
Dr. Silent
Underrated pokemon. Excellent Special Defence and surprisingly decent HP and Defence mean it is a a Psychic type that does't actually die in one hit. Which is good, because it is quite slow. Average attacking stats at best. Psychic has good coverage, and hurts Erika, Koga and Giovanni's Poison types. It can learn Shadow Ball and actually has decent enough Attack to use it, which works well against Sabrina. Brick Break is also an option. One of the best pokemon that people generally forget about. Gonna give a 7.5 here.

Ema Skye
/me casts revive It's an underrated Pokemon. First of all, Psychic-type means it has no need for coverage (which is good, because it doesn't get any) due to hitting everything but Magneton for neutral damage. But as weird as Hypno looks, it's stats are equally as weird, 73 Attack is pretty high for a Psychic, and... 73 Special Attack is pretty low for a Psychic. >.< It won't hit as hard on the special side as things like Starmie, Exeggutor and Alakazam, but Hypno here is as close to a Psychic Slayer as you'll get due to it's base attack and access to Shadow Ball alongside its massive special defense. It's basically the best thing to use against Sabrina, and utility against Eirika/Koga isn't too bad either. 7/10 - Really not that bad. It just wants stronger Psychics.
