I loved Coliseum and XD they were quite excellent games. And imo there is no such thing as an outdated game, a game is a game.

They are unique in their terms of a story for pokemon and some of the stuff they bring to the table is nice. I'd highly suggest em

Coliseum has a weird difficulty jump, but it's still fantastic

You sound new to the GC Pokemon series so I would suggest XD first

...However the storyline goes Coliseum -> XD so...

I highly enjoyed both games. Recently replayed XD again and enjoyed it as well. I recommend both of them.

oh yes a very wierd difficulty jump...AND IT IS QUITE DIFFICULT *personal experience...;_;*

The two things that I really dislike about these games are: the battles take forever due to forced animations, and good doubles combos take too much effort to set up because the game doesn't give you the proper resources. Other than that, it's much more fun than the GBA iterations of the series.
