yea, bernice marlohe? or whatever her name was, looked really hot for her big screen debut, used to do french tv only. i thought she'd have more of a character for being initially tagged as "dangerous" but the plot just totally dumps on all women throughout the movie lol, including the agent who was with bond for the opening act.

this was probably to throw away all distractions and focus on bond's relationship with M, most likely, which i personally think was kinda forced. you can't blame them for trying something new though, the movie still ended up delivering

Can't tell if stupid, or just really bad troll.

I've heard it's a great movie, although I personally haven't watched it myself yet. :3 I might though soon.

I thought it was really good. But like black ops pointed out a lot of the M scenes were a little forced and predictable.

I also think they should have added a scene were Bond was on the top of his game and completely untouchable. But part of the appeal was the he was a little vulnerable.

I personally thought the opening song was crap, especially lyrically. Also I don't really like her voice.

I also thought the movie was great, despite having some things in it that I just know pissed loads of people off (and no, I don't enjoy the movie for being irritating to people, but that is kind of funny).

I actually think all of the things that happened in the movie made sense in their context and that it did well avoiding being too contrived. I will agree that the women got dumped on though, and I recall at the end of the movie wondering where all the romance and wooing scenes had gone that Pierce Brosnan had loads of. They were there, but they were forgettable because they weren't passionate or with respected characters. M indeed got all of the attention and while M being Bond's mommy has been a recurring theme lately, they really put it on thick this time.

That was the theme of the entire movie, really. Not just for Bond, but the other dude too. I thought he was the new Jaws for a bit, considering they'd redone Casino Royale, but later I actually saw the movie Jaws was in and they're nothing alike. Thanksgiving marathons ftw.

something about fucking bitches and stacking paper to the ceiling brings all the trolls & haters to the yard

i meant to reply to the vulnerability part earlier but didnt get around to it. it was pretty much established from the prologue act that bond / MI-6 was gonna be vulnerable this movie, especially when his risky move on the construction rig didnt pay off / he got shot followed up with getting sniped by his own team. this is compounded by the compassion questionability scene where he's ordered to leave the safehouse team to their fates.

all in all it's a chicken or egg conundrum whether the vulnerability started with bond putting people ahead of the mission (not canon) or M's let the field agents die order (also not canon; her most said quote is always "come back alive, bond").

he still slowly manages to get his untouchable side back throughout the course of the plot, finding redemption by facing his would be killer later on and finally snapping back into full bond form when a woman he promised to protect is killed in front of him. he's still at 90% though, because it's shown later on that he brings the vulnerability back to MI-6 and must take responsibility for it directly, which coincides with the whole homeland security and protect your home from the outside and within theme (the final pivotal scene being at bond's own manor). post ordeal, it's assumed that all the changes have been made for the better and the vulnerability issue of both bond and MI-6 have been addressed.

the vulnerability issue has actually been an underlying theme in the daniel craig era but was really ramped up in this last movie. it honestly started with die another day, but they basically took the theme from that film and made it less convoluted for this series.

overall as a huge fan of the series having watched all the films from the 1960s+ i personally find it nice that they're trying something new for modern day audiences but still sticking to the basics of what makes the series appealing.

I agree that Bond being vulnerable now and then but still winning with the classic untouchable Bond scenes is more interesting. Also, having finally watched some of the older movies, there's a definite improvement in the fight scenes. I'm worried the covert part, and thus most important part of being a spy is dwindling though. People aren't supposed to know where you are as often as they know where Daniel Craig is when you're a spy.

I think they actually said "it had to be here" or similar regarding where the ending of the movie took place. With Bond being more vulnerable the only thing that was missing was an attack on his past. Pretty overdramatic, but the exploding lightbulbs and sawed off shotgun made up for it.

Now that it's past though I kind of hope they go back to a more Connery or Brosnan style.
