Pretty standard, really. The interface is kinda clunky but not wretched, and it does have some neat stuff. But first, DOODS:

NEW DOOD: RUNAN

/Ryunan/Ronan. I'll probably call him Ronan most of the time. He's not bad, overall, but he's not amazing. Obviously, we're forced to deploy him in every not Holmes map, so we'll use him.

Although it does take awhile to get him better for the later chapters. He will need Wood Shields in the beginning to get him started!

NEW DOOD: ARKIS

Arkis is a womanizer and frankly, as far as actual characters go, he's pretty fucking awesome.

HOWEVER, I still haven't forgiven him for NOT ROLLING DEFENSE UNTIL LEVEL 17 IN THE DRAFT

Arkis shouldn't be used if you plan to get the Mov Potion in Chapter 26B. As it will involve his death (he will be in your way to the east as he is trying to protect Rina) that is if you are going to get to the treasure in time as the Thief will beat you to it by turn 5. The only other way that you can get this item is through random encounters in Mermel Caves and Morse Tower 5th floor in a random chest. Better Warp SPAM for this so that it doesn't take too much time!

NEW DOOD: KREISS

Kreiss is the serious one who hits harder than Arkis. Also, I don't hate him as a unit yet, probably because I've never used him.

Use him if you plan to recruit Leetena. He is needed to get strong enough for Chapter 25 to defeat Mark the Dracoknight. To recruit her will require reading thoroughly through an FAQ as she is needed to satisfy more requirements than any other character in the game.

NEW DOOD: GARO

GARO is like pretty good, and he's around the whole game. I like him. My opinions on about 3/4 of the units in this game are between invalid and wrong, though.

I never used him myself and played this game three times already. I've heard that he lacks in getting luck as everyone else uses him. He does not affect any part of the story either. Damn infantry. x.x

One of them is the pimpliest, gooniest motherfucker ever. He's a recurring guy.

Our memory cards are delightfully named, and we exchange them between chapters. It's more efficient than exchanging states.

It actually will take doing this to get through Map 19 and Top of Morse Tower. As the patch has problems in those parts of the game and will crash the ROM if a clean ROM isn't applied to get through those parts. Gotta play it in Japanese in those parts, but the savestates will not get printed in English if you use a clean ROM to get through the parts as the patch cannot be removed once it is applied.

Evidently, if we just had EUGEN and his SWORD we'd be trashing the place like nobody's business.

Got that right. Raffin is the best character in the game next to Narron. =)

There're a series of skills, the -Fighter skills. Seafighter, City Fighter, Forest Fighter, etc. They give extra movement and combat stats on whatever map type that's relevant.

Note that that's different from whatever tile type you happen to be on at the moment.

None of them are ever useful when you've got Map 30 to fill up the blanks. =)

Mahter is fine as hell and she'll be joining us eventually.

Roger is great midgame, but costs a shitton of turns. =(

If you're not playing as fast as you can, I recommend training Sasha. She can become a second flier, with Elite even. Just be careful when you promote her so that she doesn't miss any important skills. Hard as hell to train, though, but feed her kills.

She should promote at 10 from her Princess class. Sure as hell don't wanna miss Elite.

Buying that Hammer is a good idea because nobody can reliably ORKO armours and tanks without it. There's Armorslayer, but you'll want a Hammer for Zeke.

Zeke is like sticks of Dynamite for the first 1/3 of the game! =)

Zeek also has enough STR to start ORKOing them with Devil Spear after a few levels. I find Hammer more useful for your main axe guys like Garo/Barts/Ezekiel than Zeek, even if they have crap accuracy with it.

True... I believe I had to wait for some strength procs to switch to Devil Spear full time (because nobody else wants to wield that weapon so Zeek might as well go to town with it).

Zeek is also the only character that can wield Devil weapons with no backfiring.

Remember how, two posts above, Dio made some mention of Life or Death being "pretty neat"? It's Wrath, except way better. Roger gets it. He's on a horse.

Roger does grow very lousy and will need the skill that Narron can learn at LV12(Promoted) that he can learn at Map 30.

They're about the same. Maruju exists for longer, and both can wield Sylpheed. Brenthunder makes Alicia more appealing when competing for a unit slot. Rishel is easily superior to every other mage in the game when it comes to combat, but costs the most turns.

How did you not kill Mintz? Did you just get lucky with the AI?

In Mintz's chapter, his brigade don't attack you unless you step onto the plain. Then a few turns in, and if you haven't progressed too far towards the castle, he'll start charging for the castle gate. So make sure to stay out of range from the Archer near the castle who is the furthest away from it. As soon as you get in that guy's range, Mintz will leave. While he's going towards the castle, he won't attack your troops, so just make sure to not block his path. Then he'll be recruited at the end of the chapter, after you seize. To also recruit Rennie, you just have to complete the chapter in less than 10 turns, which leaves you a window of only 3-4 turns to do it in after Mintz goes into the castle.

Sorta, but that's also because Holmes fights indoors a lot more often due to caves and the tower of Morse.

Holmes makes it clear before the first route split that since he can pick his own fights for training purposes (indeed, think FE8 skirmishes) so it's a good idea for Runan to send him his weaker units while he's tackling the Imperial army. This said, chapters 11, 16 and arguably 21 aren't cakewalks and are on Holmes' route, but all three are more annoying than tough and have some workarounds. A trained Barts is highly useful in 11 with Mountain Fighter, while even an untrained Vega can take on chapter 16 with few worries thanks to Shramm, as shown by grandjackal in his playthrough.

He's more solid than Runan statwise offensively. But Runan gets more Res than him and gets Nihil upon which Holmes will never get. >=)
