Shadow Mir Posted January 18, 2014 Share Posted January 18, 2014 (edited) Exactly. If you have to run one of your own to have a chance, that means the Uber Spear is centralizing and stupid. I think it's good to remember that the Uber Spear does have some weaknesses: 1) you lose the bonuses if you switch to a different weapon, including the max HP you will not get back by re-equipping it. 2) it's 1-2 range, so if you initiate combat with it, you are most certainly receiving a counterattack. Initiating combat against the US user is risky but not obligatory until endgame (which makes the US comparable to, say, PoR max stats Ena, who also doesn't really want to attack a whole lot). 3) 70 hit and only a +4 skill bonus (compared to those huge bonuses in HP, speed and res) makes it rather unreliable for connecting blows, and the US user is vulnerable to WTD and Lancereaver as a result, without effective ways of countering this aside from relying on team mates to do the work. Lance users are also all over the place, and you can choose between Eliwood, multiple Paladins, wyverns, falcos, generals for your US user, so you don't really have anybody to blame if you choose not to use the US in, um, the US meta. Personally, I think the Uber Spear is comparable to Mega Kangaskhan - while it may have weaknesses, they aren't really enough to detract much from how good it is. Also, other than Luna, what can do anything resembling damage to Uber Spear!Oswin?
