> Gets asked for help in a quest

> remembers completely guessing through it and winging everything entirely

> forgot everything about the quest itself

Well this is fun

I (re)started to play Mother 3 and after only 1,5 h I can already say that I like it more than Final Fantasy 6.

It's one of the darkest games I've played yet and I've heared it shall have lots of depressing and sad moments.

Furthermore there aren't random encounters, the main reason why I couldn't get into FF and BD.

Now I know it although it's a bit too late since I don't own it anymore.

I must really ask this: What's the point of random encounters?

I mean do people really only want them to get surprised?!

Either I want to train my team, or I want to beat this game as quickly as I can.

So there's no real enlighten reason for me to let enemies invisible.

It's just annoying, if you're on low health and suddenly an opponent attacks and kills you.

That happened to me quite a lot in Dragon Quest I + II. This feature killed me the fun of these games. Same goes for Final Fantasy.

Personally I'm no big fan of grinding in general.

For example in Tales of Zestiria I didn't grind at all. Used a holy bottle for the world map and each dungeon. I only got the exp. from the bosses and elite monsters, which was totally enough.

Well... random encounters are old school, so they're a bit traditional.

I don't think it's that people want them, so much as they are used to it.

See, I get being upset if you got wiped out by a random encounter, but that should really make you more cautious.

But... You see, Tales games in general, are really easy so that's kind of a weaker comparison to make to something like FF or DQ.

Though this brings me to a question really anyone can chime in on.

What is the difference between a random encounter, and a touch encounter you can't get away from?

Can't believe we're already in the last days of September. Feels like it went by fast, haha.

Today's the Equinox, no? I forgot if it was today or tomorrow...

The equinox is tomorrow

Also I like random encounters, largely 'cause I don't mind them

  1. They cost lots of times (bad for speedrunners).
  2. They screw you, if you're on low health and you almost have beaten the dungeon. It's really a pain in the ass in Dragon Quest II since I can only carry a limited number of vulneraries in early game. In one single dungeon I run out of them. Whenever I want to return to a town to restore my supply, a random encounter gets me.

If it was a custiomized option (as it's the case in BD apparenty), it'd be fine for everyone.
