I actually have not heard of this golden rule, but it sounds pretty great!

I'm familiar of Macbeth but not so much for King Lear. But I guess I can see how the concepts are applied to the movies.

It would be interesting to try to watch a new genre though! Is his name Akira Kurosawa?

Yup, just turn lords into daimyos and kings into shoguns, or something like that, and voila.

That's him. Though he's not the only jidaigeki director, he's probably the most famous Japanese director, and as far as I know, the only one to adapt Shakespeare plays. If you do get around to it, I hope you enjoy!

Do you have any recommendations for jidaigeki movies then from Kurosawa or anyone else? o: Not sure on what would be a good one to watch for the first time.
