Jiac
On the good news we got our reliable LT re-signed to a fairly good contract. Since 7 million per year is about the average for 10th or 20th left tackle money. 4 years 28 million dollars. Philip Rivers on #Chargers 4-year deal with King Dunlap: “It's very well-deserved for him personally and a huge signing for our team." What he really means is: "Thank you, God; Jesus, my Lord and Savior; the Holy Spirit; and Mother Mary, too, that I'll be ok on the blind side." King Dunlap hasn't allowed a sack in the last 4 games. Jiac
DOUBLE POST. THIS IS A FUCKING INSULT. CHARGERS AND RAIDERS FAN FEEL THE SAME WAY. WE WILL COOPERATE ONCE AND BRING OUR PITCHFORKS AND OUR TORCHES JUST FOR THIS EVENT OF DESTROYING SUCH A TABOO JERSEY. IMAGINE A PERSON WEARING A HALF STEELER-HALF RAVENS JERSEY WITH ONE HALF BEING TROY POLAMALU THE OTHER HALF BEING JOE FLACCO IN A HEARING WHERE IT IS DISCUSSING THE JOINING OF THE TWO FRANCHISES IN THE SAME STADIUM. (I mean like who ever you hate the most on either team. e.g Raiders hate Rivers, Chargers hate McFadden.) Anyways. Ladainian Tomlinson is looking to help the Chargers to stay in San Diego. He'll do all he can just to keep them there. Explaining his life story in coming into the NFL, and how San Diego really needs the Chargers. http://www.mighty1090.com/episode/ladainian-tomlinson-220-scott-br/ Here's a link to listen to an interview with him about the move to LA. NFL went two decades without a move, which I think is the longest it's ever gone. Edited February 21, 2015 by Lord Raven
Skynstein
Los Angeles deserves a football team. They're one of the only major US cities without one. And they even have a fucking hockey team, but no football team.
Anacybele
Thats because the stadium is located in New Jersey despite them being the New York Jets/Giants. Oh. Huh. That's kind of funky. Los Angeles deserves a football team. They're one of the only major US cities without one. And they even have a fucking hockey team, but no football team. Well, like I said before, LA loves their basketball more. They don't care much for football, surprisingly. They don't need a team anyway, California has enough. They've got three teams in that state. Lord Raven
LA loves their basketball more because their football is either in Oakland, San Francisco, or San Diego, and they have the Lakers and the Clippers in LA. Besides, the idea is that the Chargers and Raiders move to LA (already California teams and both teams have spent time in LA anyway), although the St. Louis Rams were originally an LA team. Jiac
The Clippers used to be in San Diego. But now we have another SD team moving to LA. ;/ EDIT: OH HEY DANARIO ALEXANDER POSTED AN IMAGE 2 DAYS AGO SAYING "Comeback #Justwaitonit." COME BACK TO US MAN. WE NEED SOMEBODY WHO CAN FILL THAT ROLE OF #1 RECEIVER. YOU HAVE THE SPEED THE SIZE, AND THE STRENGTH. SO WE CAN HAVE 2 DEEP THREATS, AND A RECEIVER TO COMMIT TO. Floyd doesn't have the breakaway speed. Allen doesn't have the elite speed. Royal doesn't have the size. Inman doesn't have the strength. Ajirotutu doesn't have the route running and the ability to break contact. 2016 is ok too but Weddle won't age any slower. Alexander you have everything we need, the route running to make DBs commit, the size to box out the DBs, the strength to break tackles, and the speed to go all the way. I'd love the return in 2015. So we can get that ring already. Edited February 22, 2015 by Vermilia Scarlet
Lord Raven
Keenan Allen's got plenty of speed. His route running is fantastic. EDIT: Joe Flacco in the playoffs since 2010: Cmp | Att | Cmp% | Yds | TD | Int | Y/A | Rate | 196 | 327 | 59.9 | 2563 | 24 | 4 | 7.8 | 104.1 | Fucking crazy ridiculous. Extrapolated to a 16 season game its like 314/523 for 4101 yards, 38 TDs, and 6 Ints. That's actually comparable to Aaron Rodgers in 2012 and 2014 in terms of efficiency and volume. Jiac
Jarret Johnson announces retirement today. 11 seasons in the NFL. 4th round pick by the Baltimore Ravens. With 9 quality seasons with them under his belt and 2 with us . He has a 25.5 sacks, and 11 forced fumbles in his career. You are 33, so happy retirement JJ. You were a quality run stuffer and did an amazing job as a Linebacker. Loved your personality and passion for the game. So we get $5 million freed up money. That's more than enough money for post Draft FA shopping. Also 3 Chargers retire this year. Nick Hardwick, Jeromey Clary and Jarret Johnson. Lord Raven
You mean like this? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yfM6VLqh95M Hines Ward is a notoriously dirty fucking player. He does this to every DB and not just Ed Reed, Raven or not. That is not just bordering on unnecessary roughness; that is crossing the line twice despite Reed being nowhere near the play. So, fuck Hines Ward. There's a reason he was voted the dirtiest player in the NFL by players twice. Ed Reed is far from a dirty player. There is a massive difference here. Anacybele
I just edited my post with that exact video. lol Doesn't matter, Hines Ward was honorable and is a great guy. He never deserved to be injured or knocked around so hard. Ed Reed, I don't know what he's like as a person, but he always caused trouble for QBs and offenses everywhere. There's a reason he's always compared to Troy Polamalu. Polamalu plays rather dirty too, but he's also honorable and really nice. Edited February 25, 2015 by Anacybele
Lord Raven
Hines Ward was not honorable on the field. Hines Ward was a headhunter when it came to DBs. Troy was a clean hitter, in comparison. Reed gave QBs and offenses trouble, but he was not dirty when he hit players. Also, Polamalu was compared to Brian Dawkins more than Reed, and both were generally inferior to Ed Reed. Anacybele
I think Polamalu and Ed Reed are equal, pretty much. Polamalu has fancier moves and skills, but Ed Reed was better at getting interceptions in general. But damn, Polamalu could've played receiver the way he caught some of his picks! He got a couple insane one-handed diving picks vs the Eagles (but in separate games, I believe), and a leaping one-handed pick vs the Titans (lol Kerry Collins though, he was a sucky QB that Polamalu was able to obliterate). Oh, but I'll always, ALWAYS, love that one play that saved the game vs the Ravens. Polamalu is left completely unchecked and he slams Flacco in seconds, forcing a fumble recovered by LaMarr Woodley (why didn't we resign this dude? He could sack QBs like crazy!). Hahahaha! One of the Ravens defensive linemen even admitted later that as soon as he saw "the hair," he knew they were doomed!
Lord Raven
No, Ed Reed is definitely much better than Troy Polamalu. Polamalu might've put some fear in some scrubs/rookies and sacked them, but he has rarely been an issue against any of the top quarterbacks in history. You don't see Belichick and Tom Brady raving about Polamalu like they do about Reed, and most quarterbacks in the league pick on Polamalu more often than Reed. On top of that, even in 2012 when Reed was hobbled, Brady and Manning kept looking off him and making sure he never left their sight. You can never say the same about Polamalu who has been slow since 2010. Reed only started slowing down towards the tail end of 2011, even though he started his career earlier. This picture should say everything. (It says Look for 20 on every play, which Brady writes on his wristband every time he played us). Ike Taylor, William Gay, and some other dudes were pretty much top 10-15 cornerbacks when Polamalu was around, and Polamalu had help around him in players like Ryan Clark who was a good free safety. Granted, those guys have been ineffective for the past few years, as has the Steelers secondary, but during like a 4-5 year run that was a good core of players you didn't want to mess with. You never wanted to mess with Ed Reed regardless of surrounding cast. The best strong safety Reed's ever played with was Dawan Landry, who was average at best. Our best corners he's played with were a very occasionally healthy Chris McAllister and exactly one season of Webb being elite. The rest of the guys kept getting cut and signed from the depths of other teams because they had mediocre careers at best. Reed effectively made every corner around him an insane amount better, can you honestly list many Ravens DBs that played since 2003 outside of Ed Reed? For Reed's brief tenure on the Jets, the defensive players themselves actually credited a lot of their success to him. You can make the argument the Jets were poor this year, and I can make the argument that their quarterback situation was in shambles and their secondary was the only secondary that compared to Baltimore's in terms of injuries. Ed Reed was probably single handedly responsible for getting Josh Wilson, Cary Williams, Lardarius Webb (by us, too), and Will Demps the contracts they got. Most other Ravens DBs were out of the league within 1-2 years because teams didn't give a shit about them due to Ed Reed making them look serviceable in Baltimore. Yet our pass defense was still a Top 5 pass defense from 2002 to 2012. (and even in down years like 2009 and 2012 they were still something to be feared) Edited February 25, 2015 by Lord Raven
