Klokinator
I wanted to edit my rom so it always goes immediately to HHM when you start a new game, skipping the lord select and difficulty select. Can this be done?
Brendor
Of course it can. It'd actually be really easy probably the most annoying thing would be hooking the code I'm bored and wanna practice assembly so I'll make it if you want just PM me and blah blah blah
Klokinator
Well if this doesn't already exist, then yes I'd love to get ahold of it. Will you need my rom, or will you write external code and I just plug it in?
Brendor
Blazer made one but it's not hooked ergo you have to ASMC it Just need a free offset and I can make an asm file
Klokinator
I'll PM you my rom then. (In a bit, I'm in class ATM)
Brendor
No don't give me a rom Give me a free offset
shadowofchaos
Blazer made one but it's not hooked ergo you have to ASMC it Just need a free offset and I can make an asm file ...umm. Just write breakpoint the mode address. The one where I made it start on Eliwood mode on each run. Then you won't have to "memory hack" ASMC event it. Klokinator
I can't look at the rom until after class but when I get done I'll lookup a free offset. How much room will you need?
Brendor
That ...umm. Just write breakpoint the mode address. Klokinator
Is this enough space/is this a safe spot for the routine?
Brendor
That's plenty
Klokinator
Awesome. Thanks. I am a bit worried since it appears to be in the middle of data, but hopefully no issues will arise?
Brendor
I don't think so? As long as that data isn't referred anywhere else it'll be fine
Aleph
I would look for a much bigger free space than that, but it's irrelevant anyway. A hack like this is doable inline.
Klokinator
I honestly thought there was just some byte that said "HEY GAME LOAD LYN EASY MODE" that I could change to "HEY GAME LOAD HHM" with like a 01 or a 02 or someshit. I remember there was something similar that disabled the lyn mode tutorial.
Brendor
You can do that but it'll start on chapter 11 not prolouge
Klokinator
Chapter 11 HHM? Because that's what I want. I want the game to not require a save file and to always start on HHM, bypassing all other modes completely.
CT075
there's probably a single value somewhere you can change instead of having to hook it
Klokinator
I'm just hoping someone has found out what that value is. I remember reading about something similar but searches have brought nothing up.
Brendor
It's in Rey's source for eliwood mode start Change it to 03 and you're good I thought you wanted it to start on prologue
CT075
it can't be difficult to change a different value that determines chapter 11 it has to pull that chapter ID from somewhere
Klokinator
It's in Rey's source for eliwood mode start Change it to 03 and you're good I thought you wanted it to start on prologue One important thing though, does this make it start on Hector Hard mode chapter 11 specifically? It can't be HNM, it has to be HHM. 03 sounds like the right number but I just want to make sure. Also not sure what you mean by "Rey's source", he has quite a few topics to sort through. CT075
have you tried looking for it
Klokinator
If that's not an SF screenshot, no. I've searched SF for multiple topics but sometimes a person doesn't know the keywords to look for. Also that clearly says Eliwood Mode. I'm looking for Hector Hard Mode. I'll look it up on FEU since I assume that's where the screenshot is from. EDit: Oh wow, so that's the topic I posted in on FEU asking if they had a Hector Hard Mode variant. I didn't get a reply. So witty. Edited July 16, 2014 by Kloknihater
