This little girl did nothing but exist and she's already more famous than any of us can ever dream of being, just like her brother...both are adorable and little Prince George looks like he's a proud big brother. I have to both envy and pity these kids. Growing up in the spotlight and all... Thought I'd make a topic about it, what are your thoughts? They're generally pretty good at making sure their kids stay relatively well adjusted (except Harry but we don't talk about him), so I have a feeling it's all going to be fine. I'm not saying the British royals are bad people, we have our own things to focus on. Maybe this is just my dislike for the British royals speaking. I don't think they're bad people, don't get me wrong, but they're sooo super famous, yet they don't do much outside of being simple figureheads. These royal babies haven't done anything to deserve the fame they have. They just exist as you say. Maybe someday they could, but right now, I don't see why they're such a big deal. I know I wouldn't want any baby I have to be put in such a huge spotlight, regardless of what position I have myself. That's a lot of pressure being put on an innocent child who has just begun life. I saw a crapton of them when George was born. Was hard to avoid. Heck, those two seem to enjoy all the attention they get since their pictures were everywhere too. Hell, there was even a nude pregnant photo of Kate! All I could think was wtf. If they didn't know about any of this, okay, fine, it's not their fault, and I'm totally wrong, but still. I guess you missed the part where I said I don't think the royals are bad people. It just looks to me like they have a few priorities they need to get straight is all. I don't mean to insult them or anyone in your country at all. Though to be honest, I don't have much interest in Britain as a whole. I don't mind making friends with Brits, but I'm not interested in visiting the country. It's just how I feel. It's completely fine to have an opinion, but you really need to consider who might be around when you say it. The media coverage is only official photos, which is tightly regulated. Prince William in particular because hes about my age and i grew up watching him grow up. Im so proud of him being so cool and a great parent. They are doing their best to raise their children without intrusion and by instilling in them the love of their country. Truth be told, I wouldn't expect you to get it. The British Royal Family are far more than figureheads, they're ambassadors to the world for my country, they do a lot for international relations. The children aren't expected to do anything extraordinary, they're raised like any other, just with more status. Im not British, but i feel a measure of pride for your royal family. Cuz they really do try. The Queen is just a badass. The royals give to charity, act as examples of British society, and do work in humanitarian efforts. Im glad we have a little princess to add to the lot. This gen of royals is great imo. I never said I cared that much...just thought it would be interesting to go over. Actually my thoughts are pretty much what you said. Only I don't dislike them. I'm neutral on them. And like I said, I have some pity for the babies. They're going to live their whole lives followed by cameras. Prince William had that too and he turned out alright, but yeah...that has to have some effect. Also the Queen is an awesome badass, like Loki said. lonelyVoxel Posted May 4, 2015 Share Posted May 4, 2015 I don't really have the British royals on my mind ever, but I think part of what keeps us fascinated with us is that they're the only thriving family from back in the good old days of {almost} total monarchy. You know how it goes with our intrigue for fictitious and dead royalty. My parents used to get me to get me to behave at the table by making some reference to "tea with the queen" or something, so I suppose they're sort of ingrained in culture, as well as being role models, as stated before in the topic. When things get out of hand with them, as with the Kardashians, Clintons, etc. I really only see those kinds of things on tabloid covers.
