NekoKnight
Well, according to another thread (one of the Dengeki discussions I believe), the children characters--along with whatever means they used to bring them into existence along with the rest of your army--will have no bearing whatsoever on the plot of this game. I must say hearing that does give me some relief knowing that their existence won't dampen the plot, and that they are purely an optional element of Fates. I think that's a good and bad thing. The good part is that the plot will hopefully remain focused on the Hoshido/Nohr conflict and Kamui's role in it. The bad part is that a chunk of the cast will have no relation to the story at all and just be these random weirdos from another dimension. Furthermore something as momentous as the existence of a multiverse won't even be commented on, leaving us to wonder what is canon and what isn't. They probably gonna have DLCs for the kids like in Awakening, nothing to worry if your wallet can bare the pain.

You could say that about the capture mechanic as well. Being able to capture and recruit generic units that have no personality or bearing on the plot can be considered a knock. However, it's a mechanic I know my friend is really excited about. He sucks at Awakening even on normal, so he never got very far into it. Being able to recruit random units and the fact that the children characters have no bearing on the plot has him excited. He may even be tempted to try the game on classic. Probably not, but I think the more focused plotline will also push him through the game. He loved Sacred Stones and nearly beat that game, so I think branching paths and focused plots help him. They are just extras, not intended to contribute to the story, world-building or interpersonal relationships. The children characters might not be necessary for the completion of the game but it's still a missed opportunity to contribute to the story. The children are just fanservice, as far as we know. BlueL
Kamui is a full bloodeddragon (not really, but still!) so it would be weirder for him to do it with a human than a fellow dragon. It's time to tap the scales! ohgodwhy I thought Lillith was a fish/amphiban? As long as he only messes with it while transformed "Time to tap the scales" literally made me laugh out loud. And "It's time to tap the scales" sounds like the name of a porno/hentai starring Robin
Kirokan
The screenshot with Shara is awfully small, so the quality is only marginally better than what we saw in yesterday's leaks, but here you go: There was no further information on either of the children. There was a pretty extensive overview of all of the units that have been revealed so far, but Shara and Kanna weren't even listed. Dengeki's editors have apparently already played the full game, so I assume IS told them to keep all details on the second generation under wraps until the game's release. I know this is way back in the thread, but I saw IcyToast was having problems with Shara pics. I actually uploaded them days ago in the other thread with the translations/scans, but here it is again for anyone who's interested, at the max zoom that the reader allows: I gave Kanna too since I think someone else was asking... I'm pretty sure the multiverse won't exist just for the benefit of putting children in the game. It's already been mentioned Kamui's sword has power "from another dimension". Portals and stars have been a big motif, and we've seen clips of Aqua and Kamui appearing to swim toward an underwater portal. Then there's that place from the first trailer with the floating terrain, and so on.
mewyeon
Yeah; I've heard bits and pieces about the "stop having fun your way, use these units" kind of guys. Oh goodness. I used to see that on other forums a lot, like 'I use Frederick however much I want to' and everyone's like 'NOOB!!!! STOP USING HIM!!!' and it's just like 'Y'all need to calm down. Seriously'. I never grind (one of the reasons why I'm going to get the Nohr version, since the grinding is already cut out), so by the time I get the pre-promotes, sometimes they're still better statwise than their unpromoted counterparts. I just like moving on with the story and not spending time to level up weaker characters. Honestly, though, the elitists just forget that this is a game for people to have fun however they want. In regards to the children, I agree with the poster above. Kamui's sword is from another world, as Garon mentioned, and it doesn't seem to be a coincidence that there was a portal shown in a trailer and the children are magically appearing. I do kind of wish that Fates hadn't recycled the 'outrealms' idea from Awakening, but it worked really well for them. I'm super hyped up, anxiously awaiting all the plot spoilers I can find when the game drops in a few days ehehehehehhe
capmalachi
I gave Kanna too since I think someone else was asking... Okay, Kanna's pretty cute actually. Wasn't sure about her design at first but this clearer image makes me like her a lot more.

I remember the "good old days" when using a Jeigan (and prepromotes in general) was considered a noob mistakes, and now everyone thinks they're top units. Granted that was the time Areana Abusing was considered one of the best methods... (And yeah, I know it was because fo the ranking, who is exclusive to the GBA games.) So now, I don't really care anymore and uses only the units I want to use.

I suppose you could say that. To me the capturing of generic units to expand your forces is just as much fanservice as the inclusion of children that don't have a huge impact on the story. I mean, maybe I just don't care as much about the missed opportunity the children may have presented this time. I still appreciate the fanservice though. mewyeon
It might be just me, but I'm really looking forward to persuading generics to join my army. I'm such a sucker for that kind of thing, and I think it's really cute! It's like 'Join me! I'll make you cookies and take care of you and you can be happy and safe'. Well, sort of ;) I was so sad in that one chapter in Awakening with Mustafa, with the poor soldier. Still had to kill him. I would've captured him if I could have. I agree, I love the idea of the mechanic, but my mind went to more aggressive and dark point of view to your milk and cookies. :/
