What do you think I''ve been doing?
:smug:

I mean, I kinda thought you were trying to destroy him and his computer with sick memes and groovy... uh... um... morphemes?

I did not realize how difficult it would be to rhyme with memes when I started writing this post.

26. While we're on the topic and to nip any accusations of derailment in the bud, what's your favorite morpheme?

2. I would say "... What did I just watch?" but the stuff I watch is way weirder, so... I don't know what to say.

6. thoughts on this song??

6. I liked this as soon as the piano started playing in the intro. Good song, good build-up. I was afraid that after that great build-up, it would start getting worse somewhere down the line, but it remained good until the end. I liked it a lot!

4. Do you support destruction of historical sites in order to build homes

4. Only if there's no other alternative; but I think that is a very unlikely situation.
The thing with historical sites is that they're easy to destroy, but once they're gone, they're lost forever. When I study something like the history of Troy, I want to see it for myself, but there is just so little left of it. I don't want anyone to have that feeling for any historical site; it's just a great loss.

I thanked you... I think.

@Arcanite Holy Hera that was a lot of unnecessary spoilers for question 100. I tried quoting you here but my computer just about exploded.

XVIII. Favorite of the Olympian gods?

XIX. Do you prefer their Greek names or their Roman ones?

XX. Are you aware that the Colosseum (in Rome) isn't actually a Colosseum?

XXI. Aside from Rome, favorite place to travel in Italy?

XXII. Are you aware that I initially found you intimidating when I first met you?

XXIII. Do you play any of The Legend of Zelda?

XXIV. Best form of government, in your opinion? (E.g. monarchy, democracy, theocracy, etc.)

XXV. Favorite Tolkien language?

XXVI. Can you explain to me why, in the Lord of the Rings, everything has a cool name (Rivendell, Mordor, Erebor, somethingelse-or) except the main destination at the heart of the evil empire, which is unexpectedly called just Mt. Doom?

XXVII. If you could travel anywhere in Middle-Earth where would you go?

XXVIII. Have you read Beowulf?

XXIX. Are you aware of how big of an influence Norse mythology played in Lord of the Rings, and in turn, the entire modern fantasy genre?

XXX. Is it better to be feared or loved?

Hmm, you might actually be right...

XVIII. Let's see... Athena, Hephaistos and Hades (if he counts).

XIX. That depends on whether I'm talking about them in the context of Greek mythology or in the context of Roman mythology.

XX. I have no idea what you're referring to. The Romans called it the Colosseum and as far as I know, that is the English application of the name as well.

XXI. Hmm... Maybe Venice.

XXII. You will have to explain this to me sometime.

XXIII. I don't, but I promised friends I would when I have the time for it.

XXIV. A good mix of monarchy, aristocracy and democracy. They all have their strengths and weaknesses, and combining them can balance that out.
But most importantly, the most dangerous thing to any form of government is "perversion". Monarchy tends to become despotism, aristocracy tends to become oligarchy, democracy tends to become ochlocracy. Combining them prevents perversion from happening, because they keep each other in check.

XXV. Quenya.

XXVI. The Lord of the Rings is an English translation of the second part of the first volume of The Red Book of Westmarch. This book was written by Bilbo and Frodo Baggins and Samwise Gamgee in Westron, which was the Common Speech at the time. Westron is closely related to Rohirric, but Rohirric is much more archaic compared to Westron.
So Tolkien, when writing The Lord of the Rings, translated all the Westron (including names) into English, all the Rohirric (including names) into Old English, and let all the other languages stand. Some places are often referred to by their Westron names in The Lord of the Rings (such as The Shire, Bree, Rivendell, Mount Doom) simply because those were the names the Hobbits knew for them.
This difference can be made clearer when you compare The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings. Bilbo, writing There and Back Again when we has still quite unlearned in Elvish lore, used Westron names for nearly everything; which is why Erebor is consistently called the Lonely Mountain, Rivendell is consistently called Rivendell and Orcs are usually called Goblins.
Compare this to The Downfall of the Lord of the Rings, written by Frodo, who had much more knowledge of Elvish and Mannish lore at the time of writing. Here we see Erebor consistently referred to as Erebor, Orcs consistently called Orcs and Rivendell occasionally referred to by its Elvish name Imladris.
So in other of Tolkien's writings, you're more likely to find the Sindarin name for Mount Doom, Orodruin.

XXVII. My home. :smug:
Assuming you mean before the Dominion of Men, that's a very tough one! I'll pick Gondolin though. That must have been a beautiful city.

XXVIII. I haven't.

XXIX. I'm not.

XXX. Loved.

33. No, Alm.

35. Either they think you're xexy or you've become a meme, Alm.

36. I try to vary, Alm.

37. My parents cook when I'm at my parents' place. Otherwise I make dinner myself.
Sometimes I eat in college though. Our faculty has this restaurant thing that has cheap and nice food, Alm.

38. Because I'm strict about everything, Alm.

What is your opinion on Michalis?

Do you have any impression on Motendra and since that impression has said impression changed/has he lived up to them?

What's you opinion on lachesism?

Do you swear fealty to The King?

Where are you currently in your quest to play every FE game to completion? (cause I apparently forgot)

I love Michalis. He's not among the top of my favorite FE antagonists, but he's definitely among my favorites. I really like him as a character and I also like how he's subtly different in every game he appears in.

I've always really respected you and looked up to you. I'm not even wholly sure why; you just have this respectable aura and I've always had the impression that you're very good at talking with people. That impression hasn't changed much over the years.

That sounds like a very unhealthy personality trait to have.

I do, but I put the state before the king and the law before the state.

I can't believe you even remembered I was doing that, haha. I'm doing Fates right now! I've come a long way, but I've still got quite some things to do.

6: Opinion of the name Rachel?

10: Opinion on people who call the Netherlands Holland?

6. I like it! Fun fact: my elementary school crush was called Rachel.

7. They're nice if you want to wear them, I guess. I wouldn't, though.

8. Exactly the same as 7.

9. Natalie has a strange imagination.

10. That's actually one of my biggest pet peeves, heh.

1 hour ago, Bartozio said:

6. Would you say that was your weirdest Sinterklaas present?

7. How do you celebrate Sinterklaas nowadays?

8. I agree stroopwafels are great, but what so good about hagelslag?

9. Maar wat vind je van drop?

10. Beste soort drop?

11. What's your opinion on people who combine dutch and english while speaking?

12. Do you also sometimes find yourself writing out an answer in the wrong language?

13. Do you watch anime? (It's probably mentioned somewhere, but I must have missed it)

14. If so, which one is your favorite?

6. I think so... But my dad does some weird things sometimes, so I'm not quite sure, haha.

7. Surprise with the family, but we still have pakjesavond

8. Chocolate is good. And I really the texture and taste of it.

9. Liquorice is amazing. You just reminded me that I don't eat it often enough.

10. Oooooh... That one is too hard, man.

11. Sometimes using a foreign word is a good thing; for example, when you're talking about something technical (when I am writing a paper about Roman constitutional law, for example, I'd rather write about imperiumcomitialexius etc. than translate them). Most of the time though, it's completely unnecessary, and it's actually another pet peeve of mine.
When people combine Dutch and English, I always have the urge to respond in a mixture of Dutch, French, German, Latin and Japanese.

12. Only when it's an exam that is, for example, all in English but it has "antwoord in het Nederlands" written at the top. If you ask me a question in one language, I just instinctively answer in that language.

21. I do. I believe fate governs everything.

22. That depends on how you define God. I'm not a Christian, but I believe that there was/is probably something that created the Universe, and we may very well call that something God.

10. I don't think so. I judge by song, not by genre.

11. Most of the things are in English, but I've heard plenty of Dutch and (mostly bad) Latin, some French, some German, some Japanese, some Korean (thanks, Kim). What I like about languages is that they're all so different. There isn't any one that I find more pleasing to hear than another, whether that's in prose, in poetry or in song. I like how each language is different

12. No, because I rarely watch movies. : )

14. Well, you were going to shitpost about Masamune and I was going to shitpost about something else history! I'll probably pick something Roman Empire-related. Maybe the Kingdom period... But if we're still shitposting when we're done with history (very likely), I want to shitpost about Maedhros because I love Maedhros.

15. I don't know if I should go by the principle of "I don't pick favorites when it comes to languages" or try extra hard to think of a favorite because you want to know... Going with the latter, I like how Japanese uses three different scripts that are alike yet so different.

Yeah, I'm exactly the same. One time my teacher wrote a set of exercises in dutch, but referenced an english book for one question. I ended up writing part of my answers in duth and part in english...

XX. I have no idea what you're referring to. The Romans called it the Colosseum and as far as I know, that is the English application of the name as well.

According to my aunt and uncle, the Colosseum is actually an Amphitheater. The location was once where the Colossus of Nero stood, but after he died the new emperors wanted to distance themselves from Nero as much as possible, so they tore down the statue and built the amphitheater. But since it was built in the same place as the statue, the people just called it the Colosseum (after the statue) because it was easier to remember, or something.

73. They really are. I like stroking my own beard when I'm bored, Alm.

74. Okay, so I'm quite a purist when it comes to movie adaptations, so when I heard that they were adding a wholly new character, I wasn't enthusiastic at all. It didn't help that I strongly got the impression that she was added to the movies just for the sake of having an obligatory female character. And not just an obligatory female character; a strong female character because go girl power or whatever it is people say these days.
Then they completely undid Tauriel's purpose of "strong female character" by entirely reducing her to a love triangle with Kíli and Legolas.
No, I'm not going to deny that love triangles exist in the legendarium. Tuor-Idril-Maeglin, Turambar-Níniel-Brandir, Míriel-Finwë-Indis, for example. But they are all well-written. And they all have a place in the greater plot. Most of them are tragic, dramatic, have far-reaching consequences. There is nothing well-written about Kíli-Tauriel-Legolas. It just feels bad and out of place.
I would also like to take this opportunity to highlight the fact that Tauriel even falling in love with Kíli makes no biological sense at all. There are only four known instances of romantic love between an Elf and a Man throughout history. And Elves are Men are biological sibling races. Dwarves are not biologically related to Elves and Men. Dwarves are the adopted sibling race to Elves and Men. Imagine yourself falling in love with a baboon; that's similar to an Elf falling love with a Dwarf.
Not to mention the fact that there is natural enmity between Elves and Dwarves, especially Wood Elves and Dwarves. It's simple: Elves love the Earth and feel the pain of its hurts, Dwarves like to hurt the Earth for their own gains. Add to this a very deep-rooted hatred between Dwarves and Elves that goes millennia back, and you're even further away.
The whole thing is an insult to Tolkien's legendarium.
On the plus side, this is the most hilarious scene in that entire abomination. I would make fun of Thranduil's  completely out of place "Yes.........." but that's honestly the least bad of all that's said in that scene. Every sentence there is pure gold, Alm.

75. Only one thing? Cut out that disgusting love triangle, Alm.

76. No, Alm.

16. Which suprise that you received did you find the most memorable?

Fine...

17. Favorite brand then?

Yeah, I'm exactly the same. One time my teacher wrote a set of exercises in dutch, but referenced an english book for one question. I ended up writing part of my answers in duth and part in english...

.... wut?

18. Why in the world is Gintama your first anime?

I mean, it's great and all, but it's one of the last anime I'd recomend to people as a first.

19. Isn't Okita Sougo the most hilarious character ever?

20. Isn't Gintoki the greatest main character in existence?

21. Isn't Takasugi the greatest villain ever?

22. Isn't Nubume the greatest waifu ever?

23. Wasn't this:

The greatest joke ever?

24. Do you like the comedy or the serious stories better?

25. Favorite arc?

26. But seriously, you haven't watched any other anime?

15. Hmm... Would you believe me if I told you I can't remember any of the ones I've made? Haha. But in general, I'm not very good at making things... It's the poems where I shine.

16. But I've had so many great ones... Possibly the one my mom made with Geert Wilders on it; failing that, the Fire Emblem-themed one my mom made. They're still around at my parents' place, so I'll see if I can take pictures when I get there later today.

17. If there's one thing you should know about me when it comes to food (or most other stuff), it's that I never pay attention to brands!

18. My ex introduced me to it and we watched a few episodes together. Fast-forward half a year, and I find myself having just finished the show I was watching and wondering what I should watch next. I figured: "Why not Gintama?" because I remembered liking it.
I realize I'm missing a lot of references, but it's still a very enjoyable show!

Keep in mind that I go through shows at a really slow pace though and that I'm still only in season 2 now.

19. Oh man, I love Sougo, but when it comes to comedy I prefer Kagura.

20. He's awesome.

21. He is great. The Benizakura arc completely blew me away.

22. I don't think I've come that far yet.

23. Heheh, I haven't come that far yet. Get back to me on this in 7 years.

24. I like the serious stories more. The serious stories tend to come with a lot of character exposition, which I'm really fond of. It's also best when an episode makes you feel more emotions than simple joy because it's funny. And even in the serious stuff, there's usually still plenty of comedy.

25. The Benizakura arc has a special place in my heart because it completely blew me away, but I'm honestly thinking I prefer the Yagyuu arc now. The relationship between Otae and Kyuubei, Kyuubei's inner struggle, the character exposition Hijikata got and my boy Shinpachi finally got to have his moments of heroism.

26. I just remembered that I once watched an episode of Keijo to find out what the fuss was all about. I found that out and then decided not to watch any more episodes.

Aren't you in Lower-Earth?

What? And what!? I mean, I thought that was how J.R.R.Tolken first became an author or something - he translated Beowulf to English for the intent of it being a work of fiction rather than just an ancient artifact.

Well, that is true! The official name of the Colosseum was the Flavian Amphitheatre, but everyone referred to it as the Colosseum because of its proximity to the Colossus of Sol (Nero's successors didn't actually tear down the Colossus; they just modified it to look like Sol instead of Nero). "The Colosseum" is just a so much catchier name than "the Flavian Amphitheatre", don't you think?

Nope, I'm in Middle-earth. Europe, Asia and Africa together form Middle-earth.

Actually, Tolkien's writing activities started with the history of the First Age. His translation of Beowulf only came several years later.
I know it exists, I just haven't had the time to read it. Nor do I have much of a motivation to; I'm busy enough just getting through the whole legendarium!

1. Thorough, loving, honest.

2. Everyone has their own goals that they pursue, and they should measure their success accordingly.

3. People. I don't know... I think my biggest irrational fear is that people I care about will die and I will somehow never find out. But I don't think about it all that much or fear it much.

4. Talk with friends, study Japanese, play FE, watch silly videos if I'm really stressed.

5. Yes.

6. Basically anything that has to do with clothing etiquette. As long as you're comfortable in something and it's not overly revealing, wear whatever you like wherever you like whenever you like. The only exception should be when specific clothing serving a purporse, e.g. company uniforms or judges wearing the same, neutral uniforms.
Also, most gender norms. Actually, any norms attributed to a collective without proper reason, but I think gender norms are the most present of those.

7. Free time! I never have enough of it. Recognition is nice, but I don't need it. Money is nice too, but I don't need much of it.

8. Hmm, let me think... Waterpipe. But that's pretty much a given, since I did that once with the very intention of only doing it that one time and then never again.

9. Introvert.

10. The people who care about me.

11. Both! I love overcoming a challenge every once in a while, but having some relaxed time is important too.

12. I really want to see Troy! But there is just so much in history that I want to see.

13. The biggest one is probably people who use 'thou' without using the proper conjugation and/or declination. Then there's people who call the Netherlands Holland (or the United Kingdom England, for that matter, but it doesn't affect me as personally) and grammar overcorrection (things like 'between you and I').

14. South Park is my favorite. I don't know if there's any others...

15. Let's go with 2015. I learned a lot, started the study I love, grew a lot as a person, learned to be independent, made a whole lot of friends. Oh, and I left Europe for the first time in my life.

In the words of Google Translate:
"HOW DO I KNOW NOW WHAT SHOULD BE WORDS WORDED WONDERFUL NOT ANYMORE NOT LESS OUTSIDE THAT YOU ARE SUFFICIENT"
and
"You are the sweetest and the cutest and the most beautiful and the smartest and I love you"
(But I got the last one all by myself; are you proud?)

So can I just say
ADORABLE, gramps~
Not what I was looking for, but I'll let this one go.

103. Do you remember that time I twisted your words to make you say that I have the greatest face? Then you were like "No, I didn't mean that, I don't think you have a great face!"? And then I acted all offended and went to have dinner and left you hanging there, heh, old daddy?

104. Wasn't that a great memory, grandpapa?

105. Aren't I really mean, grandad?

101. Since you started threatening me with canceling meme themes, Alm.

102. You knew from the start that I'd reject this, Alm.

... Uhhhhhm, yes, that'll do.
(I'm proud of you for getting that last one by yourself, Alm.)

103. Oh right; actually, you've been a terrorist for way longer then, Albine.

107. I already believe that, little one.

So this one time when we were having dinner with the family I said to my sister: "Natalie thinks you're creepy as fuck," and then my mom said: "Cweepy how much?" and we all laughed because our mom is a meme.

109. ... I have no idea how I managed to do that! I know whale sharks are sharks because they're my favorite sharks.
Time to commit sudoku, Alm.

110. Yes, and I love them. They just look like such adorable idiots, Alm.

112. Hmm, I'm not sure, Alm...

113. Try to figure out who you actually are, kiddo.

114. Pretty good. You don't miss things you don't realize could exist.

115. I did not. I made Daniella my staffbot and bunched Azama instead. It's a shame his bumface couldn't produce children with Azura's bichface, but alas...

116. Your requests just keep getting weirder, don't they?

Hmmm

In the wild, orcas do hunt other whales, but that's just carnivores. I assume the "super cruel" you're talking about probably stems from Tilikum the orca whale who was kept in captivity at SeaWorld as a show whale for events. I believe he ended up killing three people.

It's a complicated topic, and I have my own views on the matter, but I'm sure you can do your own research if you want to.

Now Azama and Azura will never have bichbum children together!!!!!!!!

120. Do you feel ashamed of yourself, old man?

120. Pretty sure this isn't the first time I told you about benching Azama, youngster!
Yeah, I remember telling you: "She's Takumi's problem now."

121. I don't even know what I should say, youngster!

122. Yes, Alm.

122. I've seen the original three and the sequels, Alm.

123. I don't remember, Alm.

124. I can't recall. I know I've had spinach pizza, but I don't know if that was 100% vegan. I don't pay attention to these things, Alm.

11. What's your favorite Gollum riddle?

11. I promised I'd get back to this.

I'm really fond of

Quote

A box without hinges, key, or lid,
Yet golden treasure inside is hid.

but

Quote

This thing all things devours:
Birds, beasts, trees, flowers;
Gnaws iron, bites steel;
Grinds hard stones to meal;
Slays king, ruins town,
And beats high mountain down.

just speaks to me.

So the latter is probably my favorite.
