I was considering picking Garret, but I felt that if I'm going to pick filler units, they might as well be filler units that I actually end up recruiting.

The money that Niime will make from the arena in Chapter 20 to buy boots technically saves turns, right?

The rule of thumb seems to be "if a prepromo could have a good staff rank, it won't"

So many Armorslayers.

It's too hard to explain this chapter since it's so long. People went forward, Roy promoted and killed the boss, Wendy spent the whole chapter fighting an archer and getting danced by Oujay, Lugh stole 3(!) Chest Keys and another Lockpick, and Merlinus baited the archer near Lilina from across the wall so that Chad could heal him every turn. I know this chapter could have done in 12 turns, but Marcus ended up 1 tile short of the Elysian Whip chest and I couldn't be bothered to redo the entire chapter because of it. I also got the Secret Book, Killer Bow, and the Light Brand.

Holy fuck, this guy was a pain. Details below.

So Ward drops Roy over the gap on Turn 1 with Oujay's help, and then gives Marcus to Roy on Turn 2. Everyone else just self-improves. The bosskill sucks. First Roy has to hit Henning twice with the Light Brand(48 Displayed Hit each), and then Marcus has to move up next to Roy, take the Light Brand, and then hit Henning with the Ballista(31 Displayed Hit) for 1 damage since otherwise Henning will have 11 HP left after throne healing, and Marcus is 1 speed short of doubling him with the Light Brand. Marcus then has to dodge a Steel Axe fighter while equipped with the Ballista to avoid death before finishing Henning off with the Light Brand(41 Displayed Hit) on Turn 5.

The boss was a Paladin. He was pretty bulky and fast, so Roy couldn't double him. Roy did some heavy chip to him on Turn 3 enemy phase with the Horseslayer before Ward, who had promoted on Turn 1 after grabbing Roy with help from Bors, finished him off with a javelin. Everyone else helped feed axe dudes to Wendy. Chad spammed staves as usual.

EDIT: So on Turn 4 enemy phase in Chapter 10, the game seems to lock up for some reason. Help?

Apparently the pirate reinforcements from the west can freeze the game. The simplest way to fix it would be to block them, if you have an undrafted unit that can cross water.

I'm surprised you didn't take Wyvern!Hugh, he has like 20 str 14 spd. (Also your Garret has E staff because vanilla garret has bad weapon ranks)

I take Dancer!Hugh and Valkyrie!Garret who might not cost turns because my C15 boss is a manakete.

Hugh has 14 strength, if I pay him the full 10,000. Between Horace's Niime and my Yodel, I think that magic classes get their staff rank set to class bases.

Chapter 8 13/50

Finally, some extra hands.

They both have passable stats for infantry support.

Ellen was danced turn 1, and dropped Marcus ahead. He took the point for most of the chapter, while Ellen helped Roy and Lot gain as much diatance as possible. Astol killed the archer bothering Lilina (thank you) and then ran to try and get some treasure. I had to settle for just the Light Brand and Knight Crest. Barth had a Killer Bow so I won't miss that one, at least. Ellen could kill Leygance with 3 armourslayer hits, and all three just happened to not miss at 46 hit.

Chapter 8x 8/58

Ellen promoted on turn 1 and was danced forward. She tried to cover as much ground as possible with support from Marcus. By the time she got around the bend she could start to fullmove so Marcus joined the others in self-improvement. She dropped Roy on turn 5 to deal with the Killing Edge merc, picked him up on turn 6 and dropped him on turn 7 so he could seize after fighting Henning, who was a 4 speed druid. It was a troublesome enemy phase because she had to hit Henning once at 30% hit, then dodge and hit the left fighter while using a Javelin.

Chapter 9 8/66

Scott was a Divine Dragon with 25 def (with the gate bonus) and 27 defense. The only way I could damage him is with a Devil Axe, and Lilina is a long way off not being one-shot. Luckily it's an E-rank weapon or my turncount would have been blown out. It still took 3 hits at 46 hit (that's a little spooky).

Chapter 10 8/74

Ellen's lack of defense is finally catching up to her; she can't rambo through the enemy formation anymore, so I take it more slowly. The upshot is I can recruit Geese for a Brave Axe, which may well come in handy later, so I don't feel like busting my gut for a 7-turn that may not even be possible.

Yeah, confused the str box in nightmare with the HP box because I forgot there's one for base level, nvm.

The only unit I have that can cross the water is Ward, and I need him to rescue-drop Roy in front of the boss. Would it be alright to turn Merlinus or some undrafted dude into a flying unit for just this chapter so that they can prevent the reinforcements from spawning and crashing the game?

Yeah, the glitch shouldn't exist anyway so it shouldn't impact your strat.

Chapter 10: 5/54

He's actually less of a threat than the generic Berserker on this map. He's kind of bulky though, so Roy needs a Killing Edge crit to kill him.

Just a basic rush forward. Ward rescue-dropped Roy ahead with help from one of the Bards on Turn 2 to help clear out the Mercenaries and the Berserker, since Roy is the only one who can double the Mercs. The ballista left Ward at low HP, so Ward had to dodge a 50 displayed hit Flux on Turn 4 enemy phase after dropping Roy in front of the boss in order to live. Wendy got fed a bunch of kills and Chad finally reached C Staves, although it will probably be another chapter or two before he can promote. Marcus got the Swordreaver.

He(She?) is a chump. Roy easily ORKOs with any weapon.

Ward grabs Roy on Turn 1 and is then danced by Oujay, Ward then moves east and drops Roy exactly 16 tiles away from Orlo. Marcus moves down the left hand side and is danced by Bors so that he will be able to reach both of the southern most villages by Turn 4. Wendy and Saul then rescue-drop Bors and everyone else moves down. The rest of the chapter is spent getting as many villages as I can reach. Ward does some shopping for Lightning tomes so that Chad can engage in combat once he promotes and went to the arena on turn 2 for some extra money. I got the Orion's Bolt, Restore Staff, Dracoshield, Axereaver, and Speedwings.

He's even more of a chump than the previous boss. Flaer is a Berserker who is slightly less chump than the previous Bersrker boss, but still pretty chump. Arcard however, is a fucking man. He's a Hero with maxed out defense and 21 speed. Oh boy, I can't wait.

Knight Ray's Inventory: Axereaver

Chad, Lugh, Merlinus, Oujay, and Saul took the right side, everyone else went left. Wendy got a ton of exp in this chapter due to all the enemies prioritizing her over Marcus or Roy due to her lower defense. Ward ate the Speedwings so that he could double the Warrior he baited from across the wall in order to feed the Warrior to Wendy(and so that he can double more consistently). Chad used the Unlock Staff on all the right-hand side doors to get a bunch of exp. I think he should promote either at the end of the next chapter or the beginning of Chapter 13. Saul self-improved a bunch. Wendy promoted on Turn 4. The Sniper that I tried to feed to Saul ran away to use a vulnerary, so Wendy ended up killing it instead. Lugh got all of the right-hand side treasure.

I took an extra turn to buy killer weapons and javelins. Chad went north and dodge-tanked cavaliers on a forest tile before getting the Body Ring while everyone else went east across the bridge. Roy used the Lancereaver I got back in Chapter 11 a bunch since he's still a bit of a ways off from being able to use Durandal.

Outside of getting the Silence Staff right next to her in this chapter (the Guiding Ring costs turns since Ward is my only flying unit and he's busy carrying Roy and getting the Warp Staff), she's pretty useless. The extra Killing Edge is nice though.

Yeah, he's not threatening in any way what-so-ever.

Cecillia grabs the boots on Turn 1 and Ward then takes them and consumes them. Bors dances Ward who picks up Roy and is then danced by Oujay before flying onto the cliff equipped with a Killer Lance. Barth goes off to get the Talisman and the Speedwings.. Chad moves up and uses the Torch Staff. On enemy phase, Ward has to crit either a merc or the Hero that attack him so that he can move ahead on the next turn. On Turn 2, Chad uses the Restore Staff on Ward since Ward was put to sleep by an enemy Bishop (I'm fairly certain that Ward cannot dodge the Sleep Staff) and Ward drops Roy off near the throne. Wendy kills a mage that would have attacked Cecillia if I didn't kill it otherwise. On enemy phase, Ward and Roy kill some mercs and Wendy gets put to sleep by the Sleep Staff!Bishop. Turn 3, Roy moves in front of the boss while Ward moves down to get healed by Chad so that he won't dies to mages on enemy phase. Roy kills the boss and a bunch of enemies on enemy phase while Ward kills some mages. On the last turn, Ward gets the Warp Staff, Chad gets the Silver Blade, Allen gets the SIlver Card, and Roy seizes.

This was annoying for two reasons. One, Oates is a Valkyrie with Bolting, so Ward has a really terrible enemy phase. Two, a 2-turn clear of the map is ruined by thrones costing 2 move to move onto. I'm literally 1 tile short of a 2-turn clear and there is nothing I can do about it. I managed to make Ward's enemy phase slightly less terrible by having him and Roy miss some of their attacks, making the generic Bolting!Sage spend his turn healing an enemy instead of killing Ward with Bolting. Chad also got rescue-dropped way down south by Marcus on Turn 1 with help from Oujay, so he had to dodge two pirates at 30 displayed hit each in addition to all the crap Ward had to dodge. The 3 turn clear does make the boss kill a little bit more reliable, since Roy can 2HKO Oates with a Killing Edge at 63 displayed hit instead of Ward needed to crit Oates at 55 displayed hit, 19 crit.

Zealot and Treck spawned. Zealot is a sniper with decent stats, a steel bow, a long ballista and a silver bow. I need to recruit him for 20xI (and I want his stuff aswell) so his NPC work here will be limited, but I guess he might do something. Treck is a dancer:

I guess he won't get doubled anytime soon, but his avo is shaky unless he's on a terrain tile and he's 2HKOed by everything. Still he'll be very useful for his dancing utility.

Anyway, turn 2, Roy finishes the Merc that attacked Marcus and Lance goes a tile right, standing within range of the wyvern and the merc, aswell as an iron bow!Archer. Marcus kills a soldier above Zealot's starting position and is exposed to a bunch of enemies.

Marcus counterkills a knight and counters an archer, a cav and a mage, the latter two of which get physic'd. Lance kills the merc, procs Spd and doubles the wyvern back. Zealot then kills a cav with his ballista:

Roy recruits Treck, canto's down a bit, gets danced and recruit Zealot and just stays on the chokepoint. Zealot then recruits Noah, who takes the long ballista to snipe the right wyvern rider that remained at his starting spot until now. Lance gets mended by Dorothy and finishes his wyvern rider off. Marcus parks himself on a forest tile to bait some more enemies, firing off a flux chip against the archer.

EP, Marcus counterkills the archer he chipped, aswell as a knight, Roy counterkills the steel bow!archer to his right and gets attacked by the mage, Lance get hit by the archer and Dorothy by the cav.

Zealot gives Roy a steel bow so he can OHKO that mage. Roy then gets danced to kill the cavalier above Marcus after Marcus chips it. Dorothy moves outside of the archer's range but remains within the cav's and uses a vulnerary. Lance uses a vulnerary while within the Archer's range so Ellen can sneak to the vendor unimpededly.

Turn 5, Lance gets danced to open the door, Roy picks up Treck and Marcus drops him off. They're just barely outside of the reinforcement zone. Dorothy and Noah are just relegated to visiting villages.

He's slowed down to 0 by his ballista, so he's easy to double. 31/10/9 defenses are also pretty doable for my team.

This map went pretty well considering the sword+jav!cavs and wyverns are pretty tricky enemies. From the villages, I got the KE, physic, red gem, elixir and horseslayer. Wanted Zealot to buy a couple steel bows but he was a few tiles short so I passed up on it.

Also, Noah's bases are pretty meh overall, he'll mainly be useful for his horse and might get competent eventually, but 5 str 8 spd is pretty mediocre against everything that isn't a soldier (or maybe steel fighter) and the 30% growths while starting out at a highish level don't really help.

Screw this, 33/20/13 defenses. Shaman!Astol brings a Nostank that allows Marcus to do 8 dmg each attack, so it's not like I can't scratch him, but I want to get Lance and/or Roy to armorslayer for the later general bosses. Brigand!Lilina comes with a poison axe.

It went pretty well, all things considered. The bosskill was pretty tough, but didn't end up costing any turns because I would've spent the extra turn on the treasure anyway. Got all the treasure except silver axe.

Again, long chapters like this one are difficult to explain. Roy could have seized on Turn 7, but I needed to recruit Zeiss and get the Rescue Staff. Saul promoted and got the Rescue Staff and a Knight's Crest to sell. Lugh stole the Member's Card, Delphi Shield, and the Blue Gem. Marcus got all the right-hand side treasure after killing the Manakete. Ward crit-killed the other Manakete for exp. Douglas was annoying as usual. Sophia acted as Purge bait.

So for some reason Arcard is a Hero on the prep screen, but when I started the chapter he turned back into a Paladin. He still had maxed out defense though, which is lame. But wait, it gets better, by which I mean worse. In order to 5 turn this map, Ward has to dodge a 100 displayed hit Sleep Staff. In case you are wondering how that's even possible, the RN string occasionally generates 100s by mistake even though the string should only go from 0-99. Ergo, if the next RN in the string is 100 when the Bishop targets Ward, the Sleep Staff will miss. It needs to miss because Ward needs to kill that Sleep Staff!Bishop next turn so that Roy can reach Arcard. And then Roy has to get two Killing Edge crits to kill Arcard(although Roy does get 4 chances to crit him between player phase and enemy phase). Everyone else went to the arena to get boots money.

Fuck that Sleep Staff Bishop.

CHAPTER 7 - 6/38 TURNS

Initially I was gonna say "fuck Zealot and co" and just rush the boss, but then i realized he was a mage with 11 defence and 13 luck and i'd have to kill him with 3 hits at 35%. Roy also sucked too much and him and Alan got held up near the boss (he had to survive with Nosferatu).

On the plus side, Marcus, Merlinus and Sue got the villages, and Sue used a Robe.

EDIT; Leygance has 21 defence, fuck you game. Thankfully all his other stats that aren't hp are less than 10 (wtf?)

CHAPTER 8 - 16/54 TURNS

Marcus was my only unit that could damage Leygance, thank god for the armourslayer. I had to get the whip anyway, so it all worked out. Merlinus raided the middle treasure room. Barth lost to wendy in every stat but HP, in which he won by 17, which was pretty funny.

Finally got some luck with the bosses, Henning is a Roy Lord with lame stats except 16 strength, but he has two slim swords.

CHAPTER 8X - 6/60 TURNS

Promoted Allen at level 16, he has S Lances already, lol. I'll work on his sword rank so he can at least use armourslayers. Sue gave him Roy on turn 2 and he flew and killed Henning, while Sue and Marcus killed enemies at the start. Merlinus took one for the team for the third chapter in a row.

Turn 3, Noah takes that kill and Marcus attacks an iron axe fighter to the left (the second one in line). Merlinus stays within range of 2 fighters so his presence doesn't mess with my plans later.

Turn 4, Roy attacks the stationary Aircalibur!Mage, but since he doesn't double he has to finish the job on EP. Roy's res is decent enough, fortunately.

Noah keeps chipping away at fighters. I didn't screencap any more of that but he basically got the whole group in the bottom part of the map (minus 2 fighters and a mage) and also killed 3 enemies from above. Not like it helps that much, his levels were pretty crappy.

Turn 6, Roy seizes after Lance killed a random archer.

The formation doesn't really matter, I'm going through the air anyway. Dorothy will just spam the torch staff. Fielded Ellen to go shopping on the last turn or something. Turn 1, Lance drops Marcus into the mess with Nosferatu equipped.

Pretty crappy stats for combat. Still, spd doesn't matter for stealing and she can open chests so she'll have some utility. She just proceeds to steal a vulnerary from a mage.

Horseslayer!Lance had just enough atk to take the kill against the archer Noah chipped. EP, Fir gets attacked by the mage and a merc suicides against Lance and an archer attacks him.

Noah killer bow critblicks him on turn 5. Could've made the kill more reliable by chipping in with Marcus and having Noah use the last long ballista to finish the job. Didn't have the ballista on Noah though. Lance just kills another archer with iron lance.

He's kind of thwomp for a mage, but he's way easier to hit than Narshen or the guy from Chapter 16x.

Ward carried Roy to the boss and killed said boss while everyone else went up and killed things. Wendy and Marcus rescue-dropped Bors over the river up north so that he could dance Marcus on the last turn so that Marcus could reach the Goddess Icon village.

The strategy is basically the same as last chapter: Ward carries Roy to the throne (he got the Aircalibur village on the way) and kills the boss with a Killer Lance crit + hit (I didn't know the boss was a Paladin because of the fog. I'd would have brought the Horseslayer if I could see her on the prep screen) while everyone else hangs back and self-improves. Lugh stole the Knight's Crest while Merlinus bought a Physic Staff for Chad. Chad is actually really close to A Staves. He'll probably hit A Staves in the next chapter I'd guess. Niime carried Lugh and killed some Pegasus knights so that Lugh wouldn't die, since he keels over if he's even looked at funny.
