EvilElectro
In the screenshots of the game i saw a stat called 'tec'. Is this a mechanic that is new or is it from gaiden?
Emerson
It's just Skill under a slightly different name. Edited February 13, 2017 by Almerson
Konnor97
It's just Skill, but it is weird that it's called Tec now when it was Skill in the original Gaiden.
Flee Fleet!
So basically Skill is now called Tec, which is the abbreviation for Technique?

I guess they found it more fitting for whatever reason for this game, or it's the new name in place of Skill for this and future Fire Emblems. Edited February 13, 2017 by Flee Fleet! De Geso
Probably to differentiate it from Skills, like class skills.
VincentASM
Yeah, it's a somewhat baffling change considering we've always had it as Skill. However in the Japanese FEs, I don't think they have consistent English terms for stats (since English for them is merely an afterthought). I think @Aggro Incarnate pointed out it was SKL in Genealogy and Thracia 776, but it was known as TECH internally in the GBA FEs and maybe other games too. EDIT: I do like the idea of differentiating it from special skills though. Edited February 13, 2017 by VincentASM
AlexArtsHere
Seconded in terms of differentiation. It'll take some getting used to, but it makes discussions easier.

That's a solid argument but is there any Skills in FE Echoes? Do we know about this?

In the original, Falcon Knight, Sage and Saint all had skill-esc abilities. Falcon Knights has the equivalent of the Bishop's Slayer skill from SS (And thus they were OP as fuck) Sages recovered 5 HP every turn Saints restored 5 HP to all adjacent allies every turn I would assume that these 'skills' will be expanded on (Well hopefully) and we will get more (Again, hopefully). Ycine
Thanks for the intel, @Azz. So yeah, the hypothesis for differientation about Skill (the stat) and Skill (class skill) is the best hypothesis about this name change.
