Idly, she wondered if she’d seen anything like that before… probably not, though. She couldn’t quite reach anybody with her normal, trusty bow… but maybe that new one she’d picked up a while back would do the trick. She took aim, cocked her head back, and… fired. As soon as his lance swung at her she was airborn, leaping up and crashing into the rider, knocking him off his horse as she drove her dagger into his neck. The situation with Iris really had her riled, Alriana venting some stress with the violence she committed against the mercenary. Why is Iris doubling down on this, she should just listen to me-- She hadn't noticed there was a second horseman, twisting her body out of the way to avoid being completely killed, but not enough to dodge the swing completely. "HrgHkK!" She stumbled back, coughing up blood as she felt her armor break and imbed itself into her skin along the arc of the swing. But she was alive, and it was about to be everyone and everything's problem. "GRARHHRR!" On the verge of death, in an attempt to survive, the Creation's instincts of survival flared; however, baked into her very being was the directive to kill her enemies, more so even than to survive. With another ferocious growl she leapt at the man and tackled him off his horse, dagger piercing his neck, throat, heart over and over again. Threat neutralized she stood, seeing more of her enemies approaching and dashed at them, no thought in her mind other than absolute murder. "Covering their rear is what we can do right now." ENEMY PHASE TURN 6! Once he'd gotten closer, Zeit saw the rather ferocious battle in the mountain clearing. And the battle was not going as he expected it would have. Even bolstered by a coalition of mercenary groups from all over... this new threat was breaking through them. Then, Zeit saw something. A suit of golden armor. He'd been watching back in the arena; a young woman donning golden armor. He'd itched for that fight, but Lumina was a tenacious one, and turned that entire fight on its head. But it was clear that she wasn't the only one that he recognized; further away was the tall dragon that he'd bested in their bout, and, amidst the shouting and scrambling, was the white lizard that had taken him in a single stroke. "What the fuck? What are... Agh! To hell with it! Deal with them! I'll catch up with that group down there, you two help deal with them!" Zeit sprinted ahead, hand tightening on his trusted weapon. A growing desire to rematch the the white lizard had to be quashed; the target was so much more important than any grudge. With that sword, they could change the entire fabric of Hecatia forever. Still... you better not die before I get back... Get in my way, will you? Well, I don't have to hold back anymore. "You four! You're with me, continue pressing the target! Ignore the newcomers, just get the sword!" Merc 7 charges Aly? [92, 61] The attack misses... Aly? counters! [49, 99], [40, 65] Aly tears Merc 7 limb from limb... The Shaman turned to the Merc, "Monster or no, they all die the same. No hesitation, just bring them down!" The man nodded, as he moves to engage Miria with his Levin Sword! [17, 44] The bolt of lightning connects for 16 damage! Miria counters! [74, 21], [41, 23] Both connect to leave Merc 8 on death's door! 26 damage! Miria gains 10 EXP, and +4 Sword EXP Cav 3 rushes in to finish the job! [78, 88] The lance goes in but Miria gets her sword up just in time to parry it wide! Miss! She counters! Merchant Guard 1 felled! Merc 3 charges in, aiming for the woman with the shimmering hilt! [69, 5] His blade is evaded, opening him up for the counter! Lucille counters for 12 damage! Exhaustion keeps her from doubling! Wyvern 4 attacks Vidar! [41, 76] The javelin connects, dealing 14 damage! Perfectionist fades! Vidar counters! [11, 16], [81, 60] Two bolts, and one toasted Wyvern! Wyvern 4 felled! OTHER PHASE TURN 6! The sickening crunch of the warhammer, and then the javelin saw the guard in front of Lucille felled. The follow up attack was easy enough to dodge, but Lucille's counter was far slower than she would have liked. Casting from a tome wasn't any more difficult than just casting, but it was slower, exacerbated by her exhaustion. No time to complain, or rest, the hilt of the Escaflowne was still shimmering, and oddly, so was her ring. Something was approaching, and she wasn't going to be here when it got closer. "Vidar, target the axe man, and you take the one who attacked me. I'll get the rider!" Vidar didn't say anything after dislodging the Javelin, and simply did as he was asked to do! Vidar attacks Fighter 4! [21, 33] A bolt of lightning strikes the man down! Fighter 4 felled! Merchant Guard targets Merc 5! [48, 96] The javelin is enough! Merc 5 felled! Lucille steps forward, and engage Wyvern 4! Light of the Midnight Sky activates! [44, 3], [61, 21] Wyvern 4 is downed before he can even get an attack off! Wyvern 4 felled! Something told her she’d never be using that thing unless she absolutely had to. “Oi, assholes! Sod off, n’leave m’kids alone!” One more arrow notched, and one more to fire, for the road. Two of these horsemen were targeting Miria, and Nyx wasn’t about to let the little cub get ganged up on anymore. Nyx moves to (18,12) and shoots Cav 3 with the Iron Bow. He was pretty sure that was the man he lost to in the arena. "Grr..." Glaring straight at him, Üllr almost jumped straight to action, but he couldn't minister his wounds and do that all at once. Miria had weathered a number of their forces, but Aly, who seemed to snap, was the second to fall today, they needed to clear the rest of these chumps and fast. Her necklace still shimmered, but she knew she couldn't focus on that for the moment. Gean to 17-13 and axes cav 8 a question about his life insurance. Jesse had now caught back up with the main force, things we looking rough but her new friend and Ren were still fighting. Jesse had to do something. Charging in, Jesse focused on her left hand. "We don't have time to deal with you!" Jesse rides to 19-16 and throws a Mana Shot at Merc 8. She wasn't gonna be stopped! Getting blasted by a Levin Sword, but it didn't keep her from firing back. She was starting to like the wooshy sword. It felt good to fling back wind when she needed. Then one of the horseman came in to deal a finishing shot to take her down. There is only one thing we say to Death: Not today. Miria felt like she was channeling this quote from some novel she read as she easily parried the lance and swung back. Next was another swordsman, with a very familiar wind sword at this point. When he swung Miria was quick to dive and roll to the side, swing back at him. That... seemed to be the end of it. She could feel the sweat on her face from under her helmet. "Not today," she said with a bout of confidence behind the panting. She was ready to almost-carelessly continue her advance before being healed by... someone she didn’t recognize, but they gave some encouraging words. Miria gave them a thumbs-up, "Thank you, I'll be sure to." And another feeling of relief, as Miria looked to see Renais also giving her some healing. The cub gave the pinkette a thumbs up as well. Siorel continues to sway! (30) Success! Siorel gains 15 EXP! Ullr gains strength, and vigor! +3 strength for the turn, and can move again! Ren heals Miria! Ren heals Miria for 13 HP! Ren gains 12 EXP, and +2 Staff EXP Cinead's move is currently illegal, will wait for adjustment. Zeit made his way towards where his target was supposed to be when something moved in the brush to his left. He turned, weapon drawn to see the blue wolf from the arena. The one that he had narrowly bested, and shouting at him. "The hell?! What are you--" Just like in the arena, he was already too close. He'd have to avoid his attacks. "Rgh! Try me bastard!" Vs. Zeit Ullr engages! [94, 51], [24, 4] Ullr's first strike looked like it would miss again but Ullr remembered Zeit's movement, and adjusted, the blow connecting and knocking him off balance for the 2nd, more powerful strike. Zeit couldn't do anything but feel his bones crack, as the air left his body and he took flight. The wolf clouded landed hard on his back. "Wh-what? D-damn it... body... move..." He looked up at Ullr with confusion and anger before he began chuckling, "Ha... you know... I never thought I would see the day when a clouded like me sides with Artorius... Could have changed everything... could have..." Ullr gains 67 EXP, and +3 Brawling EXP! Jesse's hand glows with an awesome power, and it tells her to defeat Merc 8! Mana Shoot activates! Jesse attacks with the Verdant Spear! [73, 36] The spear of energy barrels through Merc 8 leaving him for dead! 26 damage! Merc 8 felled! Jesse gains 30 EXP, and +2 Lance EXP! Renais uses Staff Technician and Mend to heal Miria! Renais heals Miria for 14 HP! Renais gains 17 EXP, +3 Staff! Miria's move is also currently impossible because of Cinead's earlier move not going through, will wait for adjustment. No time to think about it for too long, she'd have to get back out front to support the main thrust. As dumb as one of their enemies had been to tell them there were more reinforcements coming, they couldn't stop and wait for them to clear them out, not with what was going on up ahead. Natalya moves to 14-16. "Right. They won't have the luxury of being able to look behind them all the time, and we can limit our involvement if we hang far back enough. Let's do what we can." Elisa followed along with her wife, keeping half of her attention on the Princess's supposed signature. She hadn't been moving around too much all this time, meaning she was likely pinned down to some extent... Both hit connect for 24 damage! Priest 2 felled! Iris gains 38 EXP, and +3 Brawling! Priest 2 drops a Shield staff! Alvira approaches Shaman 2 with a Light Tome in hand. [43, 11] Shaman 2 looks up at Alvira with a sneer, "Oh that's cu--" Then he noticed the tome, and that it was glowing. "Oh shit." The Displaced Front, and all of their support had seemingly been subdued. She couldn't figure out where Zeit had gone. This force was now in complete control of the clearing, and their numbers dwarfed what they had at the moment. Defeating this force didn't seem like an option... "Shit, break to the south! We'll retreat! We can--" "To hell with that commander!" Velura looked up stunned as one of her men shouted back at her. "What are you...?" "These men were our brothers, and we're fighting for a chance to right this cursed rule! Either we succeed, or we die trying! That's what we're after, isn't it? A chance at revolution is in front of us, and we're being asked to throw away our chance, clouded people's chance for a better Hecatia? Never! I did not become a mercenary to give up a chance at a life better than this one!" Velura looked at the man hard, and then hung her head. "Infected by Tristan's optimism, his hope, his desire..." His hatred. "Then let us push forward as the Iron Shield would. We can help to change this place, and no knights will keep us from doing what is right! Forward!" "Aye!" Lance Armor 2 engages Lani at close range! [69, 74] The spear connects for 10 damage! Lani grips the Greatsword, and counters! The mage engages Lani as well! [61, 57] The Elwind connects, but the barrier that Ren gave to Lani kicked in and halved the damage! 4 Damage! Lani continues her assault! Lani gains 30 EXP, and +2 Sword EXP Shaman 1 hesitates, after seeing Lani body both the mage and Armor, and then looks at Miria, who had just cleaved her way through their group, and Shaman 1 drops his things, and walks away! Shaman 1 flees! Lani and Miria both gain 15 EXP! (Also I forgot to note it but Ullr acquired the Mermaid Scale from Zeit!) OTHER PHASE TURN 7! The sounds of fighting seemed to die down from the clearing ahead, right as it seemed like they'd carved their way through. That could either be a good sign, or an incredibly bad one... Vidar looked at his remaining fighter, and nodded, "You stay with the princess, and tend to her and her mount. He and I are going--" "Not a... fucking... chance." Lucille trudged forward. "I've... watched enough people... throw their lives away in the past two weeks. They... are on their way. However, she still gave a silent threat to the surviving Shaman with her sword, and the Shaman dipped. Good. There was a moment where she could breath. She was... She looked to see someone else approaching from her north. She got ready to fight, but then heard the motion of a larger squad coming from the south. A small sigh, but she wasn’t going to complain.
