VincentASM
Playable character data seems to be the same. At least half of the class data seems to be the same (I'll check the other half when not so lazy). Doesn't look like item data's changed either. This time, I was really lazy when looking. Ike-Mike
I'd like to know the German class names. Also Ballistician. Edited December 3, 2008 by Ike-Mike
VincentASM
My version only has D, E, I, F and S, which I assume are Dutch, English, Italian, French and Spanish. Do they usually have a version with German as an additional language as well?
Ike-Mike
D should stand for Deutsch. Post the D data then I can confirm if it's German or Dutch.
Nackar
How odd, where can you pick the language? Mine just jumped to English automatically. Also, I doubt the 'D' stands for Dutch. They never translate non-kid's games into Dutch, so it's most likely Deutsch, which is German for ... well ... German. I love how the names are almost the same ... but not quite. Daurg for Doga, Wrys for Riff, Castor for Kashim, Barts is Barst, Maji and Saji are Cord and Bord (don't know who's who). There are more, but I'll leave some for Vincent. Some names really made me laugh, XD. I don't hate them though, it's just funny knowing how some fanboys are going to cry over the new names. VincentASM
There doesn't seem to be any stat changes, or any that I've noticed. I only really looked through the character data though. The top of the first post kind of summarises what I lazily did ^^;;;
irtikliwT
Imhullu = Rezire? If so, that's a pretty strange change.
Icon of Sin
Imhullu = Rezire? If so, that's a pretty strange change. It's Maph. It's from Mesopotamian mythology: the weapon Marduk used to slay Tiamat. It means Evil Wind, roughly. There's no Rezire in the game actually. Super Mecha Death Christ
So there I was, going through to look at some growth rates. Suddenly, I notice some character called Xane or something. My first thought was... who the fuck is Xane? Oh shit, did I miss another character? Who the fuck is Castor? WTF, who are these people? Oh, these are the English names! irtikliwT
Right right, Linda had Aura in FE1, Rezire was only in book 2. My memory has successfully attacked me again. I don't have a European DS, but my sister discovered the games can change language. For fun, I usually change my DS's language to German, however, it made my sister's Lost in Blue game have German text. It doesn't do that for the other games, so it might affect only a few. Nearly all DS and DS lites are the same worldwide bar the info on the back. The Chinese and Korean models are different as they have thier respective languages. The DSi has firmware speicific to each region. Typically, only European games have the feature. I noticed the generic units in German seem to be Japanese numbers (well they were German numbers so I guess it works) but the months and that don't seem to exist anymore. Also the English ones...is that the random names bit as I notice an Athos in there... I like the Earth Orb translation. Geosphere...
VincentASM
Dunno if anyone's tried, but the multiplayer is slightly improved- there are now 6 battle maps instead of 1 and there's also a handicap option available, which appears to adjust your Levels to match that of the opponenets. Of course, Levels are meaningless against hackers : P Also lol at Athos being a generic replacement's name. I better get one who can ReClass to a Sage... Melodia
What happened to Caeda...? I guess, it doesn't matter, though: both Caeda and Shiida suck. D: Also, does anyone else think Wrys is a little too similar to Rhys? Edit: looking at the rest, it seems like they often tried to change the Japanese to an English name, then change just enough letters to make it look stupid. Jeorge...? Swordsalmon
Grigas Is this supposed to be Gigashu? How dare they ruin Gigashu's manly epic name! Fire Emblem is ruined forever! *Cries* Well, it could be much worse. At least multiplayer won't be as awful as the Japanese version. <_<

Starwolf_UK
Caeda's her name in the NA version, as far as I know It is her name in the French version ...trust NOE to issue a press release with the wrong bloody names...and I just got used to Caeda :( Dunno if anyone's tried, but the multiplayer is slightly improved- there are now 6 battle maps instead of 1 and there's also a handicap option available, which appears to adjust your Levels to match that of the opponenets. Of course, Levels are meaningless against hackers : P Great so all Wolf and Sagarro need now is some arms scrolls as you can turn handicap on and autolevel them well not quite...they'll still be doubled by swordmasters of doom which dominate the mode But as vincent said kids who have to win will still be able to. VincentASM
Some random things: Athena no longer talks in third person, but she now she speaks all her W's as V's. Camus is now called "Camus the Sable", instead of "Camus the Black Knight". Tiki calls Bantu "Ban-Ban", which I thought was a good idea. I don't think "Mar-Mar" for Marth is though X D Event Recap has 2 extra events (making the total 193), but before anyone wonders- they're just events that existed in the Japanese version, but didn't have an entry in Event Recap. Also, people can request convos if they want, but they'll have to make do with unclean scripts : P Edited December 4, 2008 by VincentASM
