  1. The reason that there are two major parties in the US there's a distrust of political factions that can be traced back the Federalist Papers and the Founding Fathers. More specifically, historically, the nation has seemed to have the inability to really support more than two national parties. When rose up (Whigs, National Republican), another fell down (Federalist, Whigs). The bicameral legislature is designed to function with limited political parties. The differences in legislature mean that more political parties wouldnt work in the same way as in Britain. The Ferox system seems to be warrior based, so it makes sense to me. It seems like a nice balance of power, with each checking the other and hopefully making Ferox overall stronger.
  2. Pic of the Day: Marth. now with more shield breaking! Miiverse Post: "Pic of the day. There weren't a lot of people who used the Shield Breaker to break people's shields, so we've now made it much more powerful. This pic is from immediately after a shield break."
  3. New stage predictions per series: Mario: Super Paper Mario Stage (Wii U) Mario and Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story Stage (3DS) Rainbow Road from Mario Kart (Both Version) Zelda: Another Wind Waker Stage (Dragoonroot Island) (Wii U) Metroid: Metroid Prime 3 Stage Fire Emblem: Something from Radiant Dawn (Tower of Guidance Works) (Wii U) Archanea Stage for both versions Kid Icarus: Scrolling Skyworld Stage (from NES Kid Icarus) (Wii U) Star Fox: Sector Z (3DS) Katina (Wii U) My most wanted stage would be Rainbow Road for existing series. My most wanted stage for an unannounced newcomer would be the Venus Lighthouse for the Golden Series.
  4. chespin. really cute, but he also was my starter.
  5. I finished the game. Loved it. Found it to be the right difficulty. Currently replaying the game in Hero Mode. It's my favorite Zelda at the moment. The last time I played a LTTP was back in the GBA days, but the game to me feels very different. It covers similar story beats, but the level design and the wall mechanic make this the best puzzles in the series. All the puzzles feel inventive and smart. I'm not a big fan LTTP, but I loved this game.
  6. This will be a great assist trophy. I hope he comes with a crashing moon. This also happens to be his hand position when calling forth the moon: On an unrelated note, this will increase the fans fervor for a Majora's Mask remake. I personally don't see the need for a remake, considering we just got OOT and WW just remade recently, but this will increase calls for a remake.
  7. From Miiverse: Pic of the day. The Villager's special attack, the Lloid Rocket, is a projectile weapon like no other--you can either launch it or ride on it. When you fire it off, keep pressing the button to hop aboard--you can even control its speed. It's more powerful when you're riding it. Sounds like a B Forward to me.
  8. for some reason the yesterday's photo is up on the website (when I made this post for future people), so here's today's: I wonder what Mega Man's soccer skills are as opposed to Mario and Sonic's. He hasn't played soccer for almost twenty years to my knowledge.
  9. People with magic using on their loved ones is a very common thing in the media. Off the top of my head, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Sabrina the Teenage Witch, and The Fairly OddParents all features the main protagonists using magic on other main characters. If you take this beyond magic, this can apply to any powered characters. You can't take the rules of this society (the one we currently live in), which to my knowledge doesn't have the existence of magic in it, and apply it to what roughly translates to the middle ages of a time period. That doesn't excuse their actions, but it misses the context of the respective time periods. Historically, how a society comes to decide what it was right and wrong over time. This doesn't just apply to child abuse; for example, all the younger kids within this game (the 14 year olds like Lissa and Ricken) should be in school from the rules of our society. Admittedly, child abuse is a more black and white issue, but that all depends on what constitutes child abuse (again, we live in a world without magic). In this case, we are also talking about a game which takes place between several different nations in which we have no means to determine the rules in these nations. The developers should have the freedom to set whatever rules in place for their given game in its time period. well then don't get worked up. My argument was that using hexes seems to me to be a part of her teaching method. I don't see why you are bringing an argument from a separate thread. I think you are taking things a little too seriously. The criteria for a class make up can alway change, just like how the mymidons of the Elibe series were exclusively of tribes. This is the first introduction of Dark Mages to the Archanea/Ylisse realm, so considering both Dark Mages within the game are seemingly dark characters, it's not too far a stretch to speculate as such. See the top portion of the middle part. The developers don't take this subject matter as seriously as you do. But I'm assuming you are talking about this interview. First of all, the question asks: "who are your favorite characters, both in terms of story and who you end up using most in battle." In which one developer says he likes her design. The others mention she's useful in battle (strong, perfect fighter). Strong is a perfectly reasonable response considering the second part of the question. And she has "interesting personality," which is an aspect of her character irrespective of the revealing nature of her clothing. But really, do you expect the developers to share in your dislike (or have neutrality toward a character)? If they did on some level, they would have probably change the character in development. Makes sense, considering your avatar and user name is Loki, who is much more questionable than Tharja. And good point about not making other people feel shitty about liking a character.
  10. I really hate when people call it a remake. It's the same layout, but just like how Final Fantasy X2 uses FFX's background and such, or Majora's Mask uses all the models from OoT. It's a whole new story, and unlike the aforementioned games, they had to recreate the entirety of the backgrounds and models again.
  11. No but the situations in which it occurs in game are fundamentally unserious. You can tell this just by the music, it's meant to be a joke. I agree it's no worse than other Japanese related work I've seen. Tharja also has plenty of supporters, so I would worry too much about it. Me being one of them. People also are reading into the support conversations in the wrong way. First of all, Tharja is a dark mage, so she isn't meant to be inherently likeable, as there should be shades of grey to her character (as there is for Henry). What someone finds likeable for the character in order for them to be their wife/husband is subjective. Not every likes the same type of character. And from the way it's written, it seems to be that the hexes aren't child abuse. She's testing Noire's abilities as a dark mage, and namely her resistance. I would guess that's how Tharja was trained. But Tharja's future self specifically wanted Noire not to be a dark mage, and that's what Tharja learns. It's also out there in the dialogue. The game isn't subtle about this at all: Tharja: ...I think I've come to understand the motives of my future self. Noire: What? Tharja: I don't want you dealing in hexes. The dark arts carry with them tremendous risks. My future self knew as much... Noire: You think that she was worried for my safety? That...she loved me? Tharja: Can't say. Not about her, at least. ...But I love you, if that helps. Noire: Mother... Tharja: Just don't expect to me to say it often! ...Or maybe ever again. And just because hexes are off the table doesn't mean I have nothing to teach you. There are more ways than hexing to skin a cat. ...Or other things. Heh. So pay attention, and try to follow along. So to recap. C support: Starts hexing. B support: hexing Noire. A support: No hexing Noire, no longer wishes to make her a dark mage. It's a progression. The individual supports are not meant to be taken as isolated incidents.
  12. I prefer Arvis to Alvis, as Alvis remind of Alvin, which remind me of chipmunks. Not really that threatening to me. Arvis sounds better as a result.
  13. I've considered that, but I think there is plethora of options this time around. I think that was done in part because of convenience; Roy was designed as a clone. I don't think they would use a completely original character with all the other options they have. Also, it's possible SMT x FE might take up the next release date, as the team is hard at work on that (hopefully).
  14. 1st: Awakening I've replayed the game more times than any other game in the series. It has been the most fun Fire Emblem and I enjoy doing challenge runs. First GOTY quality Fire Emblem since the series went international. Yes, it's that good. 2nd: Blazing Sword I love to replay this one and I really enjoy how the game progresses. It's gotten better with age and still reminds me how it got me into FE every time I play it. 3rd: Radiant Dawn I absolutely love the scope of this game and some of its strategical additions. This felt like the biggest Fire Emblem ever and it was. The perfect difficulty level for me. It seems FE8 is a popular second choice. I thought about including it, but the main reason I replay because it's more easy access than any of the other games since I have it for the 3DS.
  15. well, I'm sure there are some who legitimately just don't like their designs, personalities, etc. I of course did not mean every person who disliked Tharja and Owain in this instance. But the OP asks why on this site specifically that dislike occurs for these characters. Just to use Shinpichu as an example, because he's fessed up to it: Or the second post in on this thread: Much of dislike (and its intensity) is reactionary. There's nothing wrong with that. It's just what SF does. I view Tharja as a comedic character so my enjoyment of the character directly relates to how much I find her situations amusing. The stalker storyline is clearly played up to as a joke. It's especially hilarious considering she can marry another character. There's also hate that comes with perceived sexualization within the design. While I admit that it's there, judging from Henry and the Sorceror's design, I think that's something intentionally put in by the character designer Yusuke Kozaki. I look at it as the connection between sexualization and the dark arts, which makes a lot of sense, considering the repressed nature of a time like the renaissance. Owain is a very fun character. When it's done right, I always enjoy a little fourth wall breaking. And he's got his own catchphrase and signature gesture, which is a plus. I remember Matt Groening once saying that the sign of great design in cartoon is that you can tell who it is from a silhouette. With Owan's signature pose, I feel that it's surely the case. The whole sword hand twitching also reminds me of G Gundam's Domon Kasshu's shining/burning finger, and I love that series to death. I don't really mind the dislike, as it comes with being popular in a large community.
  16. what would be cool is if you would also be forced to pick it up as well. Pic of the day: The Return of the Ray Gun Sakurai Miiverse Post: "Pic of the day. Here's the new edition of the Ray Gun. The Smash Bros. mark appears backward because it acts like a stamp. We design the Ray Gun carefully each time to ensure it doesn't look like a real gun."
  17. I love Katarina's redesign. She comes across as fairly generic in FE12, but as a grandmaster, she looks really badass. So that would be my number one. There should be a poll. I'm really interested in the results. Honorable mention goes to Ephraim's redesign. Elincia's redesign make me think of her as a superhero for some reason.
  18. Oh, I like that. They would happen after the chapter ends (as they would first be healed at camp and then released). It would go like this for the release quote. Chrom: "Lucario, I let you down as a comrade. I release you back into the wild." Lucario: "Lu..car....rio?" Chrom: "I'm sorry Lucario. I hope you can find a better master." That way, there would be an actual impact and reason for releasing Pokemon, unlike in the actual Pokemon games. Or even more tragic, the Pokemon will just leave to find more of its kind, no longer trusting humans anymore. Totally want to make a thread for this.
  19. I could see IS doing that, but I would prefer they keep everything secret so we can continue to speculate. Unlike with Zelda, where fans really hate timeline discussions noways. But even then, I don't think it's a crossover because of the way it's presented. For example, in Final Fantasy Tactics you can recruit Cloud, but that doesn't make the game a crossover. The PS2 version of Viewtiful Joe also allows you to play Dante (from DMC). Since Pokemon has renewed popularity with the release of X and Y, I think the crossover could bring new attention to FE. Of course, it would need a casual mode and the Pokemon wouldn't die, but just retreat forever in the classic mode.
  20. People tend to hate on things they perceive as overrated.
  21. I like the new line as opposed to original japanese lines in that case. The "Pick a God and Pray" sounds more original and unique to Frederick. It's perfectly reasonable that there are other religion we also haven't heard about from a tribe or something like that.
  22. I like the Lucina and Brady ones. I'm disappointed there is no Cherche. I like that Lucina's keychain has the brand in her left eye.
  23. I think her debut was definitely amplified by the strength of Super Mario Galaxy, as it might be the greatest 3D platformer of all time. Her backstory is more interesting than most in the Mushroom Kingdom I would say. Additionally, I think her design is strong. There is a quietness and a sense of elegance to design. Why do people like her even if they don't really know her backstory/know she has a backstory? It's the same reason there are people who pick Daisy and Waluigi in Mario Kart.
