ZemZem
Dat Rules (stolen/borrowed from Integrity) - Ratings are assumed to be on Hard Mode+Fixed Mode. - Votes need some explanation regarding their gameplay performance to be counted. If somebody else said what you want to already, quote them explicitly. +/- ≤1 point extra regarding personality/appearance is encouraged, but no more. If you exercise your bias privileges, please do so explicitly. - Numerical votes out of 10, or something proportional to it. Make it easy to calculate for my sake. - Every ranking phase ends whenever I get out of bed, between 0700 and 0800 EST. Do the math for your timezone, Brits. - I will insist you do not use the "Not X" reason on any character, where X is another unit. If you do, your vote will be thrown out. - "Recruits X" or "takes you to X chapter" arguments are explicitly banned. C'mon, people, this shouldn't need to be a rule. That's not gameplay performance. - Assume that the character in question is being recruited. - Similar to the "Recruits X" rule, do not use "she brings the sonic sword" or any other justification as an argument. - BEXP is free to be used in any quantity on any character. - Rating a unit too low because you think its overrated will make me throw away your vote without mercy public/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif. - I withhold the privilege to tell you your rating is bogus and demand you revise it if it breaks any of the above. I will not throw out votes anonymously, you will be informed and given a chance to revise. Hawk King
PROS: -good movement -nice base stats -good growth rates CONS: -Laguz -comes late Ranulf is probably the best Laguz in the game, but Laguz still suck. Ranulf's big problem is the fact that when he joins we can have 5 Paladins and 3 fliers who are hands-down better. He has the 3rd best transformation gauge for Laguz, and the best stats of them all. Ranulf's base stats are are higher than Muarim's and they have the same base LV. If we passed on training a pally or flier Ranulf could be pretty useful, but being locked to such a weak weapon really hurts him. 3/10 - Laguz dont have alot going for them... NTNP
Ranulf is actually a very good laguz, probably the best one in the game that doesn't exist for one part of one chapter. On the positive side, he has a good innate transformation gauge (within 2 turns) which means he'll shift about the same time that the serious fighting starts and his stats are butchered by throwing on the demi band for the last stage of the fight. Stat wise he's easily the strongest of the laguz (although still hampered by his weapon selection of kitten claws) and should have little problem surviving thanks to his nice HP/LUCK/DEF/RES meaning that baring the occasional usage of an elixir after taking a beating he shouldn't have any problems. And as always, his movement is excellent and he joins on maps where being able to cover a lot of distance is really helpful. Of course his negatives are pretty large too, not existing for the majority of the game, being unable to 1RKO many opponents and being unable to counterattack from 2 range really limits him compared to the vastly superior beorc units. I'd say that makes him an average worth a 4.5/10.
Snowy_One
Ranulf comes late and pretty much has all the normal Laguz problems. Transform issues, non-upgradable weapons, and such. He really isn't terribly remarkable. 3.5/
Loki Laufeyson
Ranulf, more or less an emissary of Gallia. Kitty cat man. Pros: Good bases. Good base level. High move when transformed. Good growths. Ok supports. Cons: Joins kinda late. Ehh transformation time. Gauge issues. Ranulf isnt a bad unit but hes kinda not gr9mazing. He might actually be higher leveled than Lethe at that point. (depending if you used her consistantly) Hes definitely got her trumped in defense and strength though. He isnt getting to the murder right away like Lethe, so you do have to wait a couple of turns. (:/) Cat gauges even here, deplete a bit quickly. (not as bad as RD but yeah.) Hes also not gonna see a lot of experience gain to take advantage of his decent growths. But he can murder well when he transforms what with that good move. It really depends on the player and if they really want to use him or not. 4/10. Hes worth using if you choose to. The question is, do you want to?
Lord Raven
4.5/10, he's better than ulki/janaff i guess... he's a good shover and can make pretty decent use of the Demi band
Samias
Pros: +Transform gauge, while not instant, will fill up at the beginning of turn 3, turn 2 if you don't mind him having no enemy phase for even just a single round. +Well-distributed bases, fast enough to double most enemies, better stats across the board than base Muarim despite being the same level. +Fast supports Cons: -Laguz weapon makes it extremely difficult to ORKO anything -Best support is also the most contested one (Ike), Lethe support gives a uselessly large hit bonus, bonus with Mordecai is too thin spread across everything -Growths are weak compared to other laguz If you haven't used any laguz beyond their bases, Ranulf outdoes all of them with exceptional bases and 11 levels to grow. His transform gauge, while not instant, still means he'll be able to get into the thick of the action at a reasonable time without a demi band killing his transformation gains. He comes in relatively late but is a good candidate for filling space in chapter 26 with its 19 deployment slots. That said, there isn't much of a use for him afterwards when the number of deployable units shrinks back down. He's still a good unit but as with all laguz, being unable to use better weapons really kills his lategame usefulness. If laguz weapons had ranks like Radiant Dawn, Ranulf would probably be much more of an elite lategame joinee. 4/
Shadow Mir
4/10. He's pretty good, but hurt by the fact that laguz units don't have much going for them (and IMO, RD wasn't much kinder to them).
