  1. In FE8: Cormag as wyvernlord is probably the best, but Tana as falconknight is awesome as well.

In FE9: Tie between Marcia and Jill.

In FE10: Jill without a question!

In FE12: Minerva is promoted with only average stats. Michalis is pretty good stats for his level except for luck. The pegasus sisters belong to the best units in the game (including Est).

In FE13: Everbody can be the similar, because of no limit training. However wyvernlords have better caps.

Flyers, high mobility units, high movement units that soar over obstacles and give archers a reason to exist. There are generally two main class lines that make up your Air Force, the lovely ladies of the pegasus knights, and the fearsome wyvern riders. Since you don't usually want too many flyers with there arrow and wind magic, throughout all of fire emblem history, who is better?
Consider them in each game the pair appears, and how they fair as player units, and how loathsome they are when coated in red paint. The after you consider each game, chose what is the superior chose for a flyer.
Personally, I'm not a complete scrub, but haven't played all the games, so I have a slightly smaller field of view, but here is my opinion.
    Fire Emblem 6
This game is fairly clear cut. Between Milady and Ziess, and the fact GBA peg knights have low con and a love for steel lances, wyvern riders win for me.
    Fire Emblem 7
Now enemy peg knights still are typically a none issue, Florina, Fiora and Farina all are really awesome units and come earlier then the fairly mediocre Heath (in my experience) and the late Vailda. Point peg knights.
    Fire emblem 8
I don't have quite as much experience with this one but, I've found Vanessa to be alright, and Cormag and Tana to be awesome. I'm not really sure but I want to lean Cormag because it's a GBA game, but not sure so I will say it is a tie.
    Fire emblem 9
A new weight system a does help peg knights, but the fact wyvern riders gain axes rather then swords, and the fact it is Marcia vs Jill is about a tie, but Haar is better then other peg knight prepromotes, so I would say that wyvern riders get a point.
    Fire emblem 13
Awaking completely flips the tables. The lack of weight helps the peg knights out the most, making enemy peg knights a fairly sizeable threat, where wyvern have axes that are more easily dodged tanked, and a very exploitable resistance stat, where peg knights are almost immune to magic. Then when you compare units, Sumia, Cordilia and Cynthia (all great) to Painne who eats a second seal and the tardy Cherche and he even tardier Gerome. That's not even mentioning galeforce... So easy point to peg knights
So for me it's 2 peg knight, 2 wyvern rider and one leaning wyvern rider, so I am fairly undecided.

Tanith´s and Haar´s only one good point are their weapon levels. Tanith has a very good sword rank and Haar a very good axe rank. Both can use bravewapons. But they join late in this game and statwise they will be outclassed by Marica and Jill at this point.

But I agree that Marcia and Jill are both equal awesome.

Tanith is, I'd say, much better than Haar in FE9. Tanith is a pretty good mid to lategame unit - not amazing, but definitely a solid filler, and a cool unique skill plus the magic to use magic weapons gives her extra niches to exploit. Haar has good strength and defence, but poor speed makes him liable to get doubled by a decent number of faster enemies, plus he joins about 5 1/2 chapters later.

For FE8, Vanessa is great for her utility, although her stats are mediocre. But really the utility she provides early in the game makes up for it. Tana is decent, but her low base level really hurts her. Cormag is great on Ephraim's route, thanks to joining relatively early, while on Eirika's route he's not worth the effort of using, too weak when he joins. Couple that with Tana joining effectively a chapter later on Ephraim's route (since she's doing almost nothing in chapter 9), I'd say Wyvern Riders are better on Ephraim's route but Pegasii on Eirika's. Of course, this even ignores the complication that Pegasus Riders can promote to Wyvern Knights, and it's probably their better promotion path...

FE13, enemy Wyvern Riders are one of the most threatening units early on, while Pegasus Knights are a lot less of an issue. Wyvern Riders have good Strength, Defence and Speed, meaning they'll hit you hard and can be tough to take down, especially if you have few archers. Pegasus Riders don't exist early in the game, but they'd probably die much more easily and be less threatening due to lower strength. For playable units though, Pegasus Rider is better no contest, because Galeforce. If Galeforce didn't exist, it'd be closer, but both promoted Pegasus Knight classes offer something really cool still (flying magic users or flying staff users), while Wyvern Lords are good with great skills but just not quite THAT good.

Also, you skipped FE10? I mean it's absolutely no contest there - you have Jill who would have been a mediocre unit if she were just about any other class, being a contender to a top tier place, and Haar who is the best unit in the game, with his class being a significant factor in why.

In FE8 Tana starts with lower level, but her bases are pretty decent and she has better growths (especially strength) than Vanessa.

In FE10 Haar is the best in the middle game, but in the finale his poor resistance and low speed cap are a major downer. Jill herself has pretty low strength base, but her growths are insane. She is like a pegasus knight with high speed, luck and resistance growth, but also good strength growth. Her only weakness is her defense, but bexp can equal it. She has a defense cap of 36! Jill is better than Haar, because of her speed. In my opinion Jill is even the most all around unit in the game.

In FE13 Sumia is a classic pegasus knight with high speed and luck growth and poor strength and terrible defense. Cordelia is pretty much a dracoknight with great strength and good defense. Cherche is similar to Cordelia, only she is a real draconknight with low resistance. Cynthia and Gerome have the big advantage that they got insane base stats, because they are children.

  2. 1. Weapon triangle, how it works in FE9 + 10

    2. Weapon weight, which in influences your attacking speed like in FE9 - 11. If the unit´s strength is lower than the weight of the weapon, it will lose speed.

    3. Magic weapon triangle

    4. More different missions: Defense, escape, seize etc.

    5. Feet for the characters

    6. More tactial options like in previous FE games: shove, rescue, take, drop etc.

    7. More staves: sleep, silence etc.

    8. Anima long range weapons: meteor, bolting, blizzard

In FE13 and in the DS-games there are some tactial options and weapons missing, which exist in previous FE games.

  3. I don't get how you can just warp someone to Medeus in H5 and win. Marth gets doubled and everyone else aside from TIki/Nagi can only do chip damage. Not to mention only 1 unit can attack Medeus at 1 range and he's protected by several units including a dragon.

Yes, I forget about Medeus´ 30 speed on H5, so it is impossible to beat him in one turn except for a lucky critical hit. I do not know, if it is possible to crit him on H5. I have never played H5 yet.

  4. Again, I do applaud it for being in a different setting than most finales in FE (not that the standard is at all bad here). I just think it ends up being a very anticlimactic place for a final battle. Like, Elincia could probably find a spot there where she once sat and drank tea with her uncle after picking out some flowers. Now she's fighting Ashnard there?

Wait wait, first you said you can reach the boss in one or two turns and finish it in a couple of minutes (which is possible in HM, at least), then you said you have to fight a huge number of strong enemies to get to him. Which is it?

Bryce aside, the enemies in the map aren't significantly stronger than generics you've fought previously anyway. Even so, setting aside, the map is actually pretty standard for a final chapter in FE. Sacred Stones (Lyon's part), Shadow Dragon, and Awakening all have similarly structured final maps.

I meant, that I prefer big maps with many enemies, because you cannot rush to the boss so easily.

Of course it is shorter in FE9 on hard mode, because Ashnard moves and you can ignore the left and right side, but Bryce and the dragons can seriously hurt with high hit rates. And I know, that is possible to beat (Berzerk) Ashnard in one turn with wrath and resolve.

But where should the final battle take place to your mind? In Crimea Castle?

In FE8 + 11(not on the hardest modes) you just need to teleport once or twice to reach Lyon and Medeus and beat them. In FE13 you just need a forged brave weapon, (maybe) a skill, Lucina or Chrom with their exh. falchion and Grima is defeated.

  5. Wait, what? It's in a f*cking courtyard. There's a garden and fountain in the middle. I applaud it for being different than most FE finales, but this one took it in the wrong direction. It's music is boring, too (like most of PoR's music).

Anyway, I agree with Tables on what makes a good final boss. It should definitely not be just a super-powered single enemy, which is why I will always hold Ashera as the best until someone better comes along. Including both parts, FE7's finale is also pretty good because it throws fewer, but stronger enemies at you before you can get to the boss, but the final boss itself isn't much of anything special.

I really dislike final bosses that only a choice few units can damage. That's pretty much what they have to resort to with a boss like Ashnard, and it just further magnifies the problem. Awakening's is also bad because it can be beaten easily in two turns utilizing maybe half of the units you deployed.

I like the map against Ashnard, because it takes place in a regular place in the world: In a huge garden.

Not unlike in most FE games in a close room of a huge tower or sth. like else, you can reach the boss in one or two turns and finish it in a couple of minutes. You really have to fight a huge number of (strong) enemies to get to Ashnard.

FE9 has not an own final map theme, but it is alright. It´s not great, but not bad either. It is the theme of the previous three chapters and it fits to the final map.

Anyway I agree, that FE7 has an excellent final map. You have to fight bosses, you have defeted yet. They really have great stats and holy weapons, which make them very challening to fight.

  6. I asked you last week, who is your favourite final boss in Fire Emblem.

The intermediate result shows, that Ashera and Ashnard from the Tellius-series are your favourites.

Ashera is probably the toughest boss, because of her map range attack and her total HP of 840, so it is almost impossible to kill her in one turn except on easy mode. Ashnard hisself is an easy final boss, if Ike got wrath and resolve, but the atmosphere makes this bossfight great.

Only very few people have voted for one of the dragons in the GBA games. And no one has voted for Grima from the latest FE game yet, which really has surprised me. I think the mainreason is, that the dragons can be easily killed in one turn. And I have to agree with this. Grima has an awesome map theme, but I can easily beat it under a minute even on lunatic (I have not play lunatic +).

So that is reason to ask you, how the creators have to improve the next final boss? What do you expect for a fun and also challenging final bossfight?

  7. Only the main game counts, without excessive grinding...you will eventually max them out if you have the time and patience..

Granted, this was on Hard/Classic, only weak units like Donnel and some of the children required a little grinding.

This was on this playthough alone, in other runs those units had better times..

    RNG screwed

-Cordelia (can't find a reason for this)

-Lissa (despite being the primary healer of my group, who gets the most XP, she still falls behind..)

-Miriel (For some reason my game hates mages..)

-Stahl (when compared to Sully at least)

-Vaike (So much for being this...at least hes a good support)

-Tharja (Dark mages are not exempt..Henry is a different story)

-Lon'qu (he ended up having not enough Str...being unable to do any real damage is not nice at all)

    -Morgan/Linfan (another mage...WTF? Maybe I should reclass..)

    RNG blessed

-Donnel (to be fair he is designed for this so this may not count)

    -Kellam (Armor knight ninjas..nuff said.)

-Noire (Being fathered by Kellam might help)

Did you have any RNG screwed or blessed units? Then post here..

If you got bad luck with your level ups, you should forge weapons, use items or make good supports to equalize weaknesses. For example: A slow unit should support a fast unit (myrmidon, thief, peg. knight), a physical weak unit should support with a physical strong unit (fighter, knight). I recommend in general to use the children, because they have better base stats for their levels and better growths than their parents. All the children are great WITHOUT an exception.

Mages are generally one of the best unit types in FE13 irrc. It's weird that yours did so poorly considering that.

Generally, my Miriels and Nahs do best. Also Lissa. Worst unit is Tharja... her Luck makes me sad considering that's my favorite stat...

Dark mages have bad luck in general. Give her a support with a cleric or fast unit (myrmidon, thief) or use goddes icons to raise her dodge rate.

    Screwage:

Chrom- ive had a Chrom that had like 10 more skl than str/spd before promotion. Good times.

Sumia- never gets STR or DEF for me. Has made me rage the most in playthroughs with her levels.

Vaike- used him once...ONCE. (he was spd screwed beyond redemption)

Miriel- 27 hp 7 def in chapter 21 as a Sage. Good times.

Gregor- always gets hp skl levels.

Libra- sometimes hes amazing for me but there are some times where hes almost at base when he gets Renewal...

Sully- hp skl lck levels. Nothing else.

Morgan- dont know why, but he always gets really screwed for me.

Maribelle- awful levels and see Miriel.

Avatar- ive had a lot of really awful avatars.

    Blessed:

Cordelia- gets mostly really great levels for me.

Say'ri- Maybe her growths are actually crazy or something. But I find that whenever I use her, she gets some mad good levels.

Stahl- gets his average Spd for me and his Str/Def are humongous. I've had a few that were just outright blessed though.

Frederick- have had a few that got really good levels followed by more good levels.

Lucina- veteran might have to do with it. I don't know If theyre blessed, but goddamn, Lucina has been my MVP in a few Lunatic runs now.

Cynthia- the one time I used her, she had better everything than her mom.

Severa- must be the Stahl genes.

Cherche- does really well for me. Sometimes doesnt get much def as Griffon but shes still solid.

All the children got better base stats and growths than their parents.

  8. Should've made this topic a long time ago, HMPH.

Cynthia is the most adorable child character, when she's your Avatar's daughter. Her supports with The Avatar are incredibly heartwarming, I just couldn't help shedding a (MANLY) tear. She's kind of 99.9% of the reason I marry Sumia.

    Oh gawd, I'm terrible. x3

The conversations are similar, if someone else is her father.

Her supports with the avatar when she's your daughter are pretty much exactly the same as any of her other potential fathers ;/

    True.

  9. I think the difficulty is the main factor, which FE5 splits into two camps. The one side loves the insane difficulty and the extrem RNG and the other side hates it because of the very high factor of frustration.

The fact, that every unit has to escape might be annoying, but it makes storywise absolutely sense. Captured units are captured and cannot return. This feature should have return in the escape missions in FE9 + 10. The story is great and I cannot see any fanservice in the conversations unlike in FE13.

The only thing, which hinders me to play this is the RNG. I would freak out, if enemies hit me with 1%.

But I have watched enough LPs to say Thracia 776 is a fantastic game.

  10. Yeah, Ruby was the first Pokemon game I actually bought with my own money and then when Diamond/Pearl came out I went with friends to get my copy (as opposed to my parents). Platinum came out the year I graduated from high school.

But I can't say I feel old because people like Superbus are in here one-upping me even though my and his first games were technically the same.

I am not kidding, if I say, that my first Pokémon games are x + y. I have never played one single game of this series before , because I hated these creatures (Pokémon) in the TV series. But I never knew, that the Pokémon games were great RPG games. After watching a review of x + y, I bought them. And now I am so impressed, that I want to play more Pokémon games .

Godthanks my taste of videogames changed over time.

  11. Pretty sure it was Super Mario 64. Probably why it's my favorite Mario game.

    *shot*

It was my favourite of the Mario-series too and my second favourite N64-game behind Conker´s Bad Fur Day.

    Mario Kart 64

My first game for the N64 and I spend many long nights with my friends and parents :B):

    Well, that's a bit difficult.

The thing is, I probably played my first game while I was recovering in an hospital back when I was five years old. It was a Formula 1 racing game that another kid in the hospital kindly borrowed me along with his Game Boy.

So there is not a whole lot I can recall to narrow down which particular Formula 1 or Formula 1 lookalike it was. I only remember that the game definitely had pit stops.

As far as for games that I can actually remember and got to play probably, it's a tie between WarCraft II, Command & Conquer: Red Alert, Microsoft Flight Simulator 5.1 and the Jazz Jackrabbit demo.

No idea which was first. Probably WarCraft II.

I believe it was "F1-spirit", which had pitstops. I only played the other F1 game "F-1 Race".

  12. Hello everybody

What was your first videogame you played?

My first videogame was Kirby´s Dreamland for the Gameboy in 1993. It was a very short, but an absoluty classic game. This intodruced me to the world of videogames and platformer-games (Super Mario, Donkey Kong). Today, 20 laters I still play this genre of games.

Maybe you got an interesting story about your first videogame. Please share, if you want. Your story would interest me.

  13. Try normal mode, if you got time and pleasure.

It´s harder than PoR on normal and Awakening on hard, but it´s really fun.

You also got the battle save option, so you can try out each turn.
