  1. I definitely prefer f!Morgan. She's quirky, hilarious, and very direct about what she thinks. I find m!Morgan's carefree, dorky personality to be uninteresting in comparison.
  2. For those who don't know, Wendee Lee and Michelle Ruff are the two women credited for providing the female Avatar's voices in English. At one point Wendee Lee, who plays voice 2, was credited for also doing voice 1, but now the widespread belief is that Michelle Ruff (voice 3 and Noire) plays it. My problem with this is that I'm familiar with both VAs (especially Michelle Ruff) and neither of them have the vocal range for that voice. If you haven't heard voice 1, you can listen to some clips here and here. Now compare them to Michelle Ruff's and Wendee Lee's voice acting. It could just be me, but I don't hear any similarities between either of their voices and voice 1. This bothered me, so I did some searching and found one person who thinks that Lauren Landa's the one who plays it. I found a video that lists her roles and gives a few samples, and I personally think that she sounds pretty similar to voice 1 (mostly from 2:03 onward). Anyway, what are your thoughts? Are you hearing something in Ruff or Lee that I'm not, or do you think that whoever played voice 1—Landa or otherwise—chose not to be credited?
  3. I don't know if I mentioned this before, but I really like Cordelia too. I feel she's a pretty complex character. She's more than just her feelings for Chrom: She's a perfectionist, she's not good at showing her feelings, and she has her share of insecurities, but she's also a hard worker and she cares deeply for her friends. Especially where Sumia is involved.
  4. According to some sources, female Avatar voice 1 is Michelle Ruff (who is voice 3), but a few used to say that voice 1 is Wendee Lee (who does voice 2). I'm somewhat familiar with Ruff's work and have listened to several voice clips for both of them, but neither woman has a tone that fits voice 1. Is it just assumed that one of them doubles up and plays voice 1 since there isn't a third voice actress listed, or is it stated on a more official site?
  5. While I agree that a decent percentage of it is probably hype backlash, there are plenty of people whose opinions can change as they get more experience with something. I don't think it's unreasonable to believe that once the initial excitement died down and they played Awakening again, there were plenty of veterans (and even non-veterans) who realized the game was, in their opinion, not as good as they'd first thought it was.
  6. I'm seriously digging that second set of first gen keychains. It's too bad these things aren't sold separately, or I wouldn't think twice about buying several of them. I might cave and buy Vol. 3 anyway because Lon'qu, Libra, and Maribelle.
  7. This, basically. I've attempted Lunatic a couple of times but always get stuck on Chapter 2. If I ever manage to get past that part, I'm going to grind until I can play through the difficulty without raging incoherently.
  8. I just started SMT: Persona for the PSP, and it's interesting so far despite the older feel. I wasn't really sure what to expect, but I'm digging the combat system.
  9. This basically sums up my feelings on it. I thought it was amazing when I first played it, then I allowed myself to be swayed by its critics for a period of time and wasn't fond of it. Now I accept that it has its flaws, but the gameplay is still a lot of fun and the characters are all charming in their own ways. And with its skill inheritance and large number of supports, it has a high replay value. The only thing I can say I truly dislike about the game at this point is its fanbase. So basically, the entire Awakening fandom on Tumblr.
  10. I've been vaguely following this project since it was started, and it's pretty impressive. It's interesting to see how the kids look with different hair colors. When your color inheritance is as terrible as Stahl's or Gaius's, taking hair eugenics into account is practically encouraged.
  11. Well, I guess that answers my question entirely! Now it makes sense why the localization team chose to make his heritage more obvious. Thank you for clearing that up.
  12. Sumia hate doesn't exist outside of English what're you talking about Don't you know that only English-speakers are capable of hating fictional characters To suggest otherwise is preposterous 俺はスミアが好きだけど。
  13. I personally would like to have seen Morgan with his default black hair, but like Malebolganone said, Chrom/Robin is a hell of a lot more popular than any other f!Robin ship. Eventually, you come to expect 90% of m!Morgan fanart to feature him with royal blue hair.
  14. The picture looks great, and that art style isn't too far off from the original. The person who recorded the confession was no Todd Haberkorn, but their delivery was pretty good as well. I like it. You know what they say: incest is wincest.
  15. I second this. I personally only end up pairing a handful of women in my playthroughs. The rest I usually support grind with post-game, but that's completely optional, so you shouldn't feel pressured to get all of them married if you don't really want to.
  16. This right here describes me perfectly. I bought the game in August and played the hell out of it for several months. I'd occasionally taken breaks for games like Final Fantasy, but for the most part, I'd always pick up Awakening again. After that, I became overly analytical about the game and didn't want to touch it for a while. I've since gotten back to playing it, though, even though I have several other games I need to beat. I'm hoping that once I create a file I'm satisfied with and I beat it completely, I won't feel the need to pick it up again, because I still have other games (including other Fire Emblems) that I have to beat. This is terrible. I can't remember the last time I was so hooked on a game.
  17. I was going to make an ashamed comment about the 453:49 in my Activity Log— —but then I saw this, and I feel much better about myself now.
  18. The same thing applies if Ricken is Brady's father. I mean, Ricken and Maribelle's supports have them talking to each over teatime more than once. And in Inigo's supports with his father, it doesn't make much sense for chill characters like Henry and Stahl to be harshly berating him for going after girls, imo. And so on. So I agree that there are plenty of parent/child supports that make more sense than others. However, that's the fault of the generic father supports more than anything else. Unless a pairing gets Chrom/Sumia-level evidence, I can't get behind the idea that there are ships that are more "canon" than others in a game where you decide who gets together, especially when The Future Past fixes the generic support issue.
  19. I know that she was/is an abusive mother. As I stated earlier, I won't make excuses for that. I agree that what she's done to Noire makes her a pretty bad person, but not a bad character. There's a difference between the two. If Tharja was a real person, I'd dislike her. Since she's fictional, I can appreciate her character and the complicated way she was written. I agree with this. I was just thinking recently that Tharja isn't the mothering type, and if the game had given us that kind of admission from her, the relationship between her and Noire would have been better explained and concluded on a more satisfactory note. It wouldn't have excused Tharja, but it would've brought her actions into a more serious light. Back on topic, another character I like is Chrom. The guy's got his flaws, but he tries his best and truly cares about his friends and family. He also has great one-liners. I can't help but laugh at his exasperation with everyone and everything.
  20. Well sure, she's got her flaws, but she's shown multiple times that she does care about people deep down. She offers to help Libra and Lon'qu, she's considerate of Nowi's feelings and seems to have a soft spot for her, and she's shown to care about the welfare of others in her support with Virion. And of course there's her tsundere endgame line if Chrom makes the final strike: “Stop grinning, you shameless fools! ...You want to make me smile, too?” Her supports with Robin and Noire may show the worst parts of her personality (in my opinion), but there are a several good things about her that many people seem to overlook. Or completely ignore. Also, I admit to kind of having a thing for Tiki. That's understandable. I might like f!Robin's quirks, but I can admit that she's not the type of character everyone can like.
  21. I like almost all of the recruited characters, tbh. They're all memorable and charming in their own way, but these are a few of my favorites: Virion — I don't think I can say more about him than what's already been said. He comes off as a flighty noble who only cares about seducing women, but underneath it all, he deeply cares about his people and knows when to take things seriously. Guy's got some serious class. Maribelle — She's classy, ladylike, and totally fierce. Sure, she's sharp-tongued and can come off as condescending, but she does have a soft side and cares about the welfare and equality of the people. Plus those crits. ("I promise this will hurt.") Tiki — I have a lot of love for Tiki. She's beautiful, elegant, wise, and has an old, quiet strength about her. I haven't finished Shadow Dragon yet (if that was even the game the quote came from), but I've read that she had trouble sleeping as a child due to nightmares, and to see her sleep so soundly now shows that she's had character development over the past two thousand years. She also has this almost magical quality about her that I find appealing. Plus her voice is really sweet. Lon'qu — He's a badass. But more than that, he's a badass with actual fears and insecurities. His supports with Tharja show that he's scared of women because he thinks they'll die if they get close to him, which is a fairly unique explanation, imo. They also show that he thought he would never be able to get married, but he's able to push past his fear for the woman he does end up marrying. I have a lot of respect for this guy's inner and outer strength. Honorable mentions to Henry (for all the aforementioned reasons), Sumia (she has low-self-esteem but always tries her hardest), Nowi (she's a ball of sushine), Gregor (he's just an all-around pleasant guy), and Noire (she's a sweetheart). This right here. I won't make excuses for her using Noire as a guinea pig, and her obsession with Robin is a little creepy at best. But she's amusing and has quite a few redeeming qualities. I can't help but like her. Really? I actually like f!Robin a little more than m!Robin. Sure, some of her gender-exclusive supports can be a little grating (namely her A-rank with Chrom), but the way she sometimes doesn't think things through (like in her supports with Lon'qu) or misjudges people (her supports with Inigo, and she later apologized) or is a little catty (supports with Aversa) gives her believable character flaws that m!Robin either doesn't have or has to a much lesser extent. I guess I just have a preference for flawed characters.
  22. That's what I thought too. FE13 was the game that revived the series, so you'd think that merchandise like that would be released before two years had passed and interest had died down. I like Tharja well enough, but I'm a little miffed that she got a figure for the sole purpose of fanservice while Lucina's "Marth" figure is still a prototype and Chrom—the main character—hasn't gotten one. But seeing how pre-orders for the Tharja figure were nearly gone in several of the places I checked, I guess the Japanese have different priorities.
  23. I've had too many of these to count, but my latest was in FE:A. I was almost finished with a map and Chrom's health was dangerously low. Somehow I'd overlooked an archer on the battlefield, so of course it had to target him, and with a high hit rate to boot. Right as it fired, Sumia, who was paired Chrom, jumped out to save him despite not even having a C rank support level with him.
  24. I like how you shaded both of them in your latest one. The shadows and highlights appear to be in all the right places, especially where the hair is concerned. The moon's reflection on the water looks nice as well. Normally, though, the figures would be a darker since the moon's light is shining from behind them, not in front. But for all I know there could be another light source on the other side, so it's not that big a deal. As far as your lines go, I have a little bit of constructive criticism regarding the Avatar's arms. When someone is winding their arms around someone else's neck, you should be able to see their joints bend, i.e. their elbows and wrists. You can see examples of that here and here. In your picture, her arms go straight forward, and the one in front seems to disappear behind her hand. Otherwise, your lines are very neat, and the proportions look pretty good as well. I skimmed through some of your older drawings, and I see definite improvement.
