  1. Okay, I lied. I went with no Harken for now, and hopefully I can make it without him. I'll be keeping this save state in case it doesn't work out. Chapter 27 8/116 Turns Heath and Priscilla promoted before the chapter. Heath is pretty much a flying Marcus now, which will definitely be nice. 0:19- Ninian is holding position here in order to draw in the Purge Bishop. He missed here, but Ninian would survive with 2 HP and get healed by Priscilla. Raven's position is also important because he can kill that Bishop. 9:38- The plan behind this positioning is to have Kent draw the Purge away from Sain. Sain has to take a hit from the Swordmaster and Sniper, which brings his health rather low. 10:33- Sain missing was a bit of an issue here. The goal was to 2HKO without needing a crit, but he still died to a crit in the end. 12:01- In retrospect, a Killing Edge would have been better for the extra hit. If Sain fails to kill him, Kent can reach the boss with a Javelin. 2. Thanks, missed that one. It actually sounds like an unpromoted flier could do it. There are a couple enemies around that might be enough to kill a base Fiora, and Marcus would get put on the land no matter where the flier was when she died. There might be some use for it in chapter 29 or 32 with all those mountains.
  3. That's quite creative with the Marcus drop. The loss of Florina would be a bit of an issue though. I guess that would be one way to avoid the reinforcement trigger zone. I'm pretty satisfied with how things have gone, aside from missing a possible turn to shave in chapter 13. I can't recall if Marcus started in the right position to achieve it, but I would have liked to cut that turn. One thing I'm going to try later is going through without recruiting Harken, as I can probably save ~2 turns on chapter 27 by skipping him. My plan is to keep a save state, play through with Harken, and maybe try it later without him and see how the last few chapters go. But for now I'm sticking with the safer choice there. As for Lyn Mode, I was really suboptimal with that. By feeding Sain every boss kill, I lost several turns. I could go through and post strategies, but they would be quite slow. Chapter 26 12/108 Turns I'm guessing the game counts this as 12 since enemy phase did play out. This one is pretty long, and the rest of them are probably going to be long as well due to the huge enemy phases. It didn't help that I was pretty much winging this though, as there were a couple segments where I wasted time trying to figure out what to do next. Since there's no way to speed it up, the only real goals here are to get exp and visit the Armory for Killers. I'm quite comfortable on my 27 Kenneth exp, so keeping Raven out of combat isn't a concern. 12:09- Setting up as many kills for Heath as possible requires anyone who ORKOs to clear the area. Hector, Marcus, and Heath himself can weaken them to set up kills. I got him to level 12, 13 might have been possible as well. 24:55- I drew Vaida in a turn early because she can attack from this square, which means she is still in range of the Armory. If this were turn 11, Florina would definitely die while shopping. 4. I need to make sure Erk, Serra, and Priscilla gained more exp than Raven, Guy, Dorcas, and Bartre. If they don't, I end up in Jerme's chapter, which would not be good. Since Raven gained a bunch of exp, the buffer is just making sure Priscilla and Serra can regain the lead with massive staff spamming. Although they apparently already have the lead, with 1630 exp compared to 1615 for the fighters. That's not what I was expecting, but at least Raven won't need held back.
  5. 1- Not this time. She's far from the only character that will end up skipped, as I also didn't recruit Lucius, Wallace, or Farina due to the turns they cost. Raising Bartre might not actually cost turns, but it would make it a lot harder to get Kenneth's version of chapter 27, which is preferable because it is a seize, not a rout. 2- Correct. Lowen lasts longer than Eliwood because of the mount, but his poor offense made him a less favorable exp investment than Kent or Raven. 3- Not necessarily because of Pent, but because I feel safe with my chapter 27 exp buffer. (11 turns of staff spam will do wonders for that.) His better speed and ability to hit res kept him useful for taking out armors, but armors have gotten rare. Also, his competition for deployment slots went way up with Isadora, Heath, and Hawkeye joining.
  6. Chapter 25 3/96 Turns Kent and Florina promoted, and Heath used the Afa's drops. He'll gain an extra point in strength and speed with the drops if I promote him at 11/0, which he should hit with all the extra turns in 26. 0:18- Ninis' Grace and Pure Water are rather important for Florina here. Since she can't ORKO the Bishop, she won't be able to heal at all, and she is forced to enter the range of a Ballista. 0:30- The reinforcements for this section only spawn once, so it's important to enter this trigger zone on turn 1 so you can have them cleared out before turn 3. 2:33- Only a promoted flier can reach the Bishop on turn 2 without getting refreshed by Ninian. 3:01- Raven's positioning here ensures the wall of Pirates will only be one thick, which allows him to kill the Warrior instead of clearing a path for Heath. He happens to crit here, but he would get that kill regardless. 3:31- Marcus is positioned so that he can reach the gate on the next turn. 4:11- It's important to bait Pascal to attack Sain here because the Cavs will be swarming Marcus, and if he also had the boss to deal with, things could get ugly. 7. Maybe. I need to redo the video anyway, forgot to buy some Restores here, and I might not have noticed until Cog reared its ugly head. But I'll fix Florina's positioning too.
  8. I actually didn't even notice that. I just assumed she was out of range because she wasn't getting attacked. The Ballista went after Raven and the Iron one went for Wallace. That doesn't make a whole lot of sense, but I ran through it again and they still did that. Also, even when the first Ballista and Purge hit Raven, putting him in KO range, the Iron Ballista still went for Wallace. They might have some kind of odd AI, but it doesn't make much sense. Fortunately, this can be avoided entirely by having Florina do the exact same thing 1 square south and east. I'll add a note in for that.
  9. Chapter 24 2/93 Turns Nice and simple chapter. I'm planning to give Heath the Afa's Drops, but since that would mess up his next level, I'm going to wait a bit. 1:06- Ninian doesn't want to be below or to the right of Marcus because that would put her in range of a purge Bishop. 1:59- Marcus missing makes Raven the backup strategy to help with Lloyd. 5:13- Killing Lloyd with Kent is definitely risky, but since it's such a short chapter and Kent is about ready to promote, I took the chance anyway. Unit Level HP Str Skl Spd Lck Def Res Support Hector 14.48 31 15 10 9 7 14 3 Eliwood C Marcus 10.21 37 17 19 13 10 13 11 Sain 7.45 36 20 13 14 10 11 4 Kent 16.22 33 14 13 14 5 8 4 Isadora 2.66 36 13 12 16 10 8 6 Raven 2.90 41 16 19 20 5 9 6 Hawkeye 6.21 51 19 14 12 14 15 11 Priscilla 8.86 18 8 8 10 11 4 8 Heath 9.24 34 14 10 10 7 11 2 Florina 10.34 29 8 11 14 11 5 7 Ninian 5.15 18 0 0 15 13 6 7 Legault 13.53 29 9 13 17 10 9 4
  10. Apparently this is alive. Chapter 23x 6/91 Turns As it turns out, this can be done without a promoted Rath. I originally thought his presence was to rescue Hawkeye at some point, but that ended up not being necessary. He can do exactly what Sain does in here, but he'll have worse hit on the Bishop. This chapter has some poor hit rates to deal with, and in this strategy, it requires one dodge of the Sleep staff. Raven promoted and Isadora used a Body Ring so she could double with the Silver Sword. 0:25- Hawkeye needs to kill this Sage, as he'll use Bolting to OHKO Ninian if he survives. 1:06- Hawkeye needs to dodge this Sleep staff, which has 30 display. 1:42- The square Hawkeye is on is one square out of the Bishop's Berserk range, which is obviously quite important to stay out of. It also allows him to kill a Sage on enemy phase. 2:41- Hawkeye doubles this Sage, so no crit was necessary. 3:45- Isadora was supposed to take out the Bishop, not sure what I was thinking here. 5:01- Kishuna leaves on this turn, but if you attack him before he does, he takes all those promoted enemies with him. Since he replaces them with weak magic enemies, this is definitely helpful. 6:11- Because I forgot to kill the Purge bishop, Priscilla has to dodge a 23 display Eclipse. Not the end of the world, but it shouldn't have happened in the first place. 11. For now, Oscar, Boyd, and Ike. Eventually, I'll be adding in Kieran, Marcia, and Jill for exp priority. Marcia and Jill will be getting a ton of Bexp once they show up. I haven't exactly planned out my exp distribution very well, but if I happen to have enough to get Astrid up to speed, I'll probably do that. I'm leaning towards no at the moment though. Sorry. Apparently I can't record the internal sound with this integrated sound card (I could on another computer, but I don't think it would run Dolphin very well), and holding a microphone up to the speakers would be... kind of awkward. Anyway, I was planning to get back to this after I finished my FE7 run, but since I've been stuck for a while on that, I might come back to this one soon.
  12. Chapter 23 5/85 Turns I hate this chapter, so it's nice to have it done. There's pretty much no way to get the 700 exp for the 4 turn I had, and Pent had to be rather lucky with dodging as well, so I'm sticking with this. The final total here was 731 exp. 1:02- I want to bait the Mage to attack Priscilla here. That puts him in range for Legault to kill. 1:57- Sain ORKOing Wyverns removes a large threat, so it's great that he can. 3:49- The double crit really isn't a good thing here, but I ended up with enough exp regardless. 7:16- I actually didn't want Hector to go here. He was supposed to help Legault with the Mage at 8:08, but I mistakenly put him out of range. 8:31- I didn't realize Sain was actually in OHKO range from the boss with the Steel Axe, because he usually has more HP left. The original plan was to lure him in with Sain, then attack with both and hope Raven crits, but assuming Sain is in the range where Steel kills him and Hand Axe does not, this is actually a safer success rate because it makes Raven double. The odds of Sain dodging are better than the odds of Raven critting. 10:10- For some reason, I forgot that Raven would double and thought Sain needed to attack again. This is just a dumb, unnecessary risk in retrospect though. 11:29- Pent dodged a lot this run and kept moving south, but if he has to heal at some point and doesn't go as far, Hawkeye with Brave Axe is a safe ORKO on the wyverns down here. 13. Pent got everything except a few Wyverns, which suicided on Hawkeye with a Brave Axe. Pent used his phase to finish off one remaining Shaman. The 4 turn required Pent to be dodgy enough that he wanted to press on southward at least to where the Shamans spawn. I'm not exactly sure how likely that was, probably should check that out. Actually, I think I now have a 5 turn. I ditched Florina for Serra and left Raven unpromoted, which was enough to get the required exp. Now it just needs recorded.
  14. I had Sain take the non desert part. Which is obviously not helping much there, but I wasn't sure who else to use (aside from Marcus, who would gain even less). I also had trouble keeping Ninian glued to Priscilla, but I think I could do that part better. I think she missed 2 shots at a Physic. I also had Raven promote to handle the early wyvern rush and the bosses. The 4 turn involved him taking a round of Ninis' Grace and charging right into the horde. 12/2 Raven will also gain strength, so that should be sufficient for those Sages. The cut exp is making it difficult to get there though. It isn't helping that Florina's being rather useless. She can't 2HKO Mages or Archers, and she even gets 2HKOd by the Wyverns for good measure. Also, I wasn't able to find a deployment slot for Serra. I was going with Ninian, Heath, Florina, Raven, Sain, Legault, and Priscilla because she has the rank for Physic and Serra doesn't. Florina didn't do much, but she combined with Heath for a rescue drop to put Legault in range of the Body Ring.
  15. I'm not entirely sure what to do here for chapter 23. I managed to cut it to a 4 turn clear, but of course I only ended up with 561 exp despite giving Heath one of the bosses and spamming as much Physic as I could. I'm going to try to put a video of it up, although this won't work for a normal run that goes to 23x. I could always skip it, but I'd much rather not do that. I'm halfway tempted to just stick with the 4 turn and hack myself into 23x, ignoring the dumb exp requirement entirely. That would damage the legitimacy of the run though. I also failed to get the 700 exp again in a 5 turn by a solid margin, so if anyone has suggestions for that, I'd appreciate them.
  16. Chapter 22 4/80 Turns I screwed up at the end of this video and got bailed out by a crit, which I'd rather not rely on, but I kept this recording because of all the exp Raven got. Killing Eubans in 4 turns is rather simple, and is pretty much RNG proof. But doing all the other stuff I wanted to do, like recruiting Heath, getting the Brave Axe and 10k gold, visiting the secret shop, getting Raven as much exp as possible, and feeding Rath the boss kill required a lot more thought and some risk. 0:08- This is a nice little trick you can use if you happen to have a lance with 2 uses lying around, allowing Isadora to kill a Swordreaver Fighter and move an extra space forward. This clears out a potential bottleneck for later. 1:25- My Raven got screwed a point of defense (speed too) from his HM bonuses that would have allowed him to survive these next 3 hits, but as it is, he must dodge one of a 55, 52, and 47 display. This risk is unnecessary for the completion of this chapter, but I want to have Raven at a minimum of 13/0 headed into 23x, preferably 14/0 for extra speed and defense. 4:04- This accomplishes 3 objectives at once. Eliwood trades up Kent's Steel Sword for durability, draws Heath into Hector's range, and also fulfills his need to be danced once to reach the Secret Shop on turn 4. 7:03- This is where I screwed up by forgetting to have Hector equip his Hand Axe. Here's how the left side was supposed to work: The mages at 8:16 and 8:28 both attack Hector and get countered. If Hector hits the first one, he then kills it at 1 range. Kent kills the second one, and the path is clear for Legault and Ninian. If Hector misses the first one but hits the second one, he tries to hit the second one again at 2 range so Kent can kill the first one, once again resulting in a clear path. Due to my negligence, what ended up happening was the equivalent of Hector missing both mages, to which the correct response would be Hector killing the first one at 1 range with the Silver Axe (which I forgot to give him). Fortunately, Hector got a crit here. These hits are only 65 display with the Hand Axe, so it pays to have a plan in place. 12:01- The final tally here is 6 Physics, 3 Barriers, 2 Chest Keys, and an Elixir. Silver Card enables mass overkill here. 12:11- The rationale behind Rath getting the boss kill is that I want him to be promoted for 23x, but I'd rather not deploy him in chapter 23. 17. Chapter 21 3/76 Turns I stocked up on Pure Waters and more 1-2 range weaponry. Since there's 10k gold in the next chapter and I have the Silver Card, I'll have plenty of funds to buy pretty much whatever I feel like at the secret shop. I will want Sain to level up again so he can double Eubans, but that should only take ~4 kills, so I let Kent have the boss kill. I do want him to hit 16/0 before I promote him. 4:01- These 16-17 atk Wyverns only do 11-12 damage to Ninian, so even if it hits and does max poison damage, she's still safe. I've been kind of wondering about feeding him a Speedwing and see if I can get him not doubled by Valks, but considering how low he can get their damage with Pure Water, it would be more useful on someone else. I haven't figured out who that someone else is though. Maybe Hawkeye? I was planning on giving Vaida the second one, unless I can't grab it, in which case she'll get the first one. Chapter 20 6/73 Turns With Sain around, I had enough power to break through the bottleneck faster and shave a turn off of this. 1:35- Since this Cav managed to get 9 AS this time, Sain was the only one who could clear the path. 4:29- Marcus is really the only one who can handle all the Shamans next to Darin, so he carries the key to open the door. 19. Sain's proven quite useful. He's already saved a turn on 17 and enabled me to steal the Silver Card, which should eliminate all money issues. His hit is still a bit shaky with 1-2 range, but hopefully that will get better once he gets S Lances. Other than that, it's been excellent having a second Marcus around, and now that Uhai's out of the way, I plan to transition into a heavier dose of Sain. As long as his hit isn't an issue, I'm going to try and have him take most of the boss kills instead of Marcus. Chapter 19x 5/67 Turns This is more or less Aquilae's 5 turn clear with the Silver Card, but I did tweak it a bit to give Kent a juicy Sniper kill. 1:09- If a ton of stuff decides to hit Sain, he actually could die here thanks to low res. That Nosferatu shaman has 19 atk against Sain's 3 res, but he only has 43 display, and only kills if everything to that point landed its hit on Sain. 2:30- This is the backup plan for if Sain misses his hit on that mage like he does here. Matthew stays back a square and Hector trades Kent's Javelin up. 5:36- Because Marcus must land his 67 display and Sain must land his 61, this only works out 54% of the time. However, that's the price of the Silver Card, since Marcus can't attack twice or he might kill Aion before Matthew steals the card. 20. Chapter 19 4/62 Turns Marcus got his level with plenty of time to spare, so that wasn't an issue. In retrospect, I could have swapped Kent and Lowen (although Sain would have to break the snag) so Kent would get more exp, but the difference was only ~40 and I don't feel like recording another run. 1:24- The Pirate OHKOing this snag is really good to have, as if it doesn't break, Kent has to use his turn to take it out. 2:43- If Marcus would miss here, this would also eat up Kent's turn to kill this guy. Obviously, there's only one Kent, so you don't want both of these things happening at once. 3:27- If Kent has to break the snag, he can't shield Priscilla here. So Marcus has to chug a vulnerary instead. Which isn't a bad thing, as that allows Marcus to trade Sain's Javelin up. Marcus had taken more damage than usual here though, so I healed him with Priscilla instead. 6:21- This was a bit of a mistake. Marcus should have taken the square to his southwest. This ensures that there are 2 possible paths to Uhai, and one may be cleared on Enemy Phase (it was here). Unfortunately, there was only one path from where I put Marcus, and it did get blocked. 7:41- Normally, I have Kent block this off instead of killing the Pirate, but apparently I forgot. Because of that blunder, I came up with this formation, in which the Nomad would prioritize a weakened Matthew over Priscilla. They weren't supposed to get in at all though. 21. Chapter 18 3/58 Turns Sain used a Secret Book. I was hoping Marcus would be a little closer to level 7 than he is, but he should level before fighting Uhai. 1:07- Marcus critting this guy frees up Sain to help everyone else, but there's no issue if Sain has to spend his turn clearing the path. Although in this case, since Erk decided to miss, freeing Sain was rather important. 22. Chapter 17x 4/55 Turns I restructured my strategy for this chapter in order to kill both of the level 17 Pirates. Kent ended up getting them both. 2:40- Kent is perfectly safe here. Because Priscilla isn't busy, it doesn't matter if the Halberd ends up hitting (which it does.) 3:08- If Kent had landed this, he could have chipped the boss and helped Hector save a use of Wolf Beil. 23. Chapter 17 7/51 Turns Maybe it was possible to recruit Lucius in 8 turns here, but it's probably not possible in 7. Unfortunately, it's also not possible to get the Knight Crest, but since Sain won't need one, that shouldn't be an issue. It will force Kent to wait until after chapter 22 to promote. You can get the Silver Sword this way, but Raven decided to crit the thief that would have gotten it for me, and I don't feel like recording another run. 0:58- I experimented with a few turn 1 formations, and liked this one the best. Kent could have attacked the Myrm at 1 range for better hit by moving a square left, but I noticed he tends to get swarmed by everything and die then. This formation does a good job of spreading the attacks out to different units so no one ends up dead. 2:28- From here, Priscilla is exactly at the edge of the range she needs to be in to recruit Raven on turn 5. 8:48- This will force the boss to equip his Javelin, making it easier to attack. If for some reason Sain was otherwise busy, Marcus could ORKO with the Hammer with over 80 display. 9:00- Goodbye Silver Sword. 10:51- It may seem odd to give Marcus the boss kill considering Sain would have done more with it, but I want a level 7 Marcus before I face Uhai. Last time through, Marcus was able to 2HKO, but Uhai can proc an extra defense point and mess that up. If I have a 17 strength Marcus, that won't be an issue. Marcus hits 17 strength at level 7 here. Sain could do it already, but I don't want to mess with hit rate any more than I have to. 24. Don't know if it will help clear this up, but I went back through my recorded run (without crits, which seem to be where most of the commotion came from) to look at its success rate. I ended up sending Marcus north to help Hector and Oswin out, as I found they needed it more than the units in the south, who were perfectly fine on their own. Eliwood and Bartre had nothing to do on the last turn, and I would have had more if I wasn't trying to force feed Lowen kills. Here's what I got. Turn 1 86.74- Oswin attacks a Peg. 89.65- Hector finishes with Hand Axe. 89.65- Hector counters a Peg. 91.39- Hector counters a Peg. Hector also hits the Bandit, but that was for exp only. Marcus kills him regardless. And it doesn't take much time to reset from turn 1, which is why I didn't have Hector use the Wolf Beil for better hit. He could have though, boosting the success rate. Turn 2 91.39- Hector kills a Peg. 86.74- Oswin kills a Peg. 92.97 Oswin counters a Merc. 89.65- Hector counters a Peg. Turn 3 99.34- Hector kills a Peg. 99.72- Oswin kills a Merc. 98.47 98.47- Matthew attacks an Archer. Turn 4 98.47 98.47- Matthew kills an Archer. 92.20 92.20- Marcus kills the boss. Overall- 33.328% Now, that's not great. But it's not like it would require massive abuse. If Hector uses the Wolf Beil for turn 1 instead of the Hand Axe, success jumps to 44.652%. If you make it past turn 1, since it takes very little time to reset if it ends that early, your odds for success are a more respectable 52.311%. Also, even if you fail the 4 turn, you still have a great shot at the 5 turn clear. Unless you miss a Peg, those are really annoying to chase down. Also, most chapters don't have success rates like this. Even the later routs are a lot safer. Like in 14, Marcus can wipe out most of the map on his own, and his hit rates are just fine.
  25. Chapter 16 5/44 Turns Marcus took the Dragonshield. Other than that, pretty much the same as the previous run. Sain didn't start in a position to have an impact here, so his difference making really begins next chapter.
