  1. +Res in level ups? You think my guide said to RNG abuse? You don't even define what you think RNG abuse is.Can I ever write a FE guide without obnoxious posters misrepresenting and distorting it in an attempt to mock and shit on it year(s) later? On what planet is this kind of behavior acceptable? I don't care what kind of anti-social neuroses you have, but this kind of behavior just drives people away. I think I'm just going to delete all my FE guides. It's not worth sticking your neck out when all you get is years of grief afterward by the persistent anti-social types in the FE community.
  2. And people think I'm a douche. lol List the conditions you got your turn count under, so your post isn't totally useless on top of being rude, please. And congrats Kngt_Of_Titania.
  3. Scoring systems are a matter of skill measurement to distinguish between players. Stop pestering me with obnoxious questions if you can't figure it out, please.
  4. Casual mode is good for Fire Emblem. Grinding is fine if there's a scoring system.Btw it's mentioned in the Famitsu article that there's both support attack and support defense. Previously all we saw was a support attack in one of the trailers.
  5. AW Advance Campaign is difficult if played for score.
  6. Thanks for the feedback, Paperblade. I passed it along and he fixed the bug(s).
  7. My brother Chris and I have been working on a turn based tactics game called Strat (final name undecided). Each level in Strat is separate with no growth system between levels, and the entire game is deterministic (non-random). It's definitely more of a pure strategy title and much closer to a puzzle game than an RPG. There are 18 playable units with 5 abilities each, along with a number of CPU only units and bosses. Each class has a defined role with unique and balanced abilities that are all useful in certain situations. It's a far cry from your typical imbalanced powers based tactics game where the majority of classes or abilities are inferior or useless. There are lots of mechanics in Strat like multiple objectives, doors and panels, triggers, reinforcements, teleports, terrain status effects, custom scripting in each level, etc. in order to keep combat varied and interesting. There is of course a scoring system as well as a real time limit per turn to keep the pressure up. While I've been able to give feedback and advice on Strat's development, I don't have the final say on what goes into it, so I don't necessarily agree with every design decision. Most of my work on Strat has been designing and scripting the levels, which are later edited by Chris. Even with my experience playing tactics games, it's often a challenge developing and testing quality content. Please give the development build a try and let us know what you think. I'm posting this to Serenesforest because I know there are some very good tactical gamers here and I'd love to get some more feedback, so please PM me or reply with anything you'd like to say about it.
  8. What even gave you the idea to ask such a clueless rhetorical question? It's funny how you have no clue what you're talking about. The first, most important rule of objectively analyzing any game is that you may not arbitrarily ignore parts of the game or game rules for any reason. That means covering your eyes and shouting "just ignore that part of the games rules!" is a poor statement from the outset. You can whine and apologize for lazy or incompetent developers all you like, it's still their responsibility to implement an accurate and useful scoring system, not the players job to try to make some sense of their grind filled mess.
  9. I'm not worried about the combat mechanics. There's nothing wrong with trying something new. What they shouldn't do is reduce the content variety from FE DS #2, or fail to include a scoring system. If every chapter is "move from point A to B then slap down the boss", and there's no scoring system that penalizes FE2 or FE8 style grinding, then I might as well not even play the game, as it would be just another shallow, boring, and skill-less sandbox mess like Final Fantasy Tactics or Tactics Ogre.
  10. Does anyone know if you import a Japanese 3DS to NA whether you can access the Japanese 3DS store or what sort of credit card/payment limitations it has? Nintendo might make it extremely difficult to access this DLC even on an imported JP 3DS located in NA.
  11. A Japanese 3DS might be a hard sell if all you're interested in is Fire Emblem, but look at what else has been announced or available for the system: [3DS] [JP] [1] Super Robot Wars 3DS (working title) [3DS] [JP] [1] Daisenryaku 3DS [3DS/Vita] [JP] [1] Alpha-Unit developed SRPG TBA [3DS] [JP] [1] Imageepoch developed SRPG 12/22 [3DS] [JP] [1] SD Gundam G Generation 3D 12/15 [3DS] [JP] [1] Moe Moe Daisensou * Gendaiban 3D Japanese versions of Devil Survivor Overclocked and Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Shadow Wars I'm sure the 3DS will be Nintendo's main handheld system for a couple years, so there will be plenty more to come.
  12. I never said anything about localization. Some people import early regardless of localization. I'll be getting a JP 3DS, but only because there are other turn based tactics games I would like to play on it. Namely Super Robot Wars, SD Gundam G Generation, and more tactics games in the future I'm sure.
  13. The 3DS is region locked, so the barrier for this FE is particularly high. Who's going to import a JP 3DS and Fire Emblem 3DS? I'll be doing so and posting impressions, review, and guide again similar to the last couple of Fire Emblems. Is anyone interested in seeing video footage?
  14. Great work on the translation. I might even give the game another playthrough to read the conversations. I only know enough Japanese to read the menus and katakana and such.
  15. Glad to see the series is alive and kicking. Nintendo could just as easily tell IS to start cranking out casual crap and we'd never see another one again.
  16. It's illogical to make a comparison between my Lunatic run and the ones you listed as better or worse because they are based on widely different conditions and goals. I think the guide did very well considering the conditions it was written under. If you want to make a direct comparison, the conditions and goals must be the same - that includes male class limits, wifi shop usage, in store stat boosts, getting all items and recruits, etc. All you can logically say is that they are different. It seems FE players have a particular problem accepting that their definition of efficient is an opinion like any other.
  17. You could check out my guide. Some of the strats are no doubt outdated by now, but it still has useful info.
  18. It feels like Nintendo is eager to regain the sales momentum they had with the Wii and DS and they're pouring all of their translation resources into their two new systems. By the time the translation team has time for FE3DS, the DS will probably be considered too old or outdated for them to bother with. Remember that for Nintendo to want to translate it, it not only has to turn a profit, but turn more of a profit during that release timeframe than they would make translating some other game. Same thing happened to Front Mission 5, another classic tactics title. Square's translation team was busy with other major projects, PS2 got old and fell by the wayside. In the end it just never made it. I really doubt it's coming at this point.
  19. You can't assume to know what he's talking about, considering not even he knows what he's talking about. It's not 'noting a similarity', it's two people trying to tag team my strats. Again, what the hell are you talking about? Please find me quotes where I have "treated the people on the FE12 tier list like dogshit and sneered at anyone who used Rainbow potion or maturity drops". More ridiculous, childish accusations with 0 evidence, even though you can easily access any of my posts on this forum. I have every right to defend my work. Even if I were guilty of what you're claiming I did, which I'm not, two wrongs don't make a right.
  20. Umm.. what the hell are you talking about? I've never used the maturity drops or rainbow potion in any of my playthroughs, nor have I ever mentioned anywhere any kind of ideas on who to use them on. If you're trying to make underhanded, 0 evidence insults towards my strategies, that's not only against the board rules but unhelpful to anyone. Would you like to start mocking Paperblades first playthrough as well? This is the kind of crap I hate about the FE community. Someone does a decent but not immaculate first playthrough of a FE title, then months or years later everyone else starts trying to dogpile it even though their strats are almost certainly built on it. Talk about biting the hand that feeds. Take your trolling elsewhere, thanks.
  21. Please learn more Japanese and enjoy this great game. You just need enough to know the menus, stats, etc. You can use serenesforest item lists to match the item/weapon graphic as well.
  22. I've always had better luck getting out of print imports from ebay. Search ebay for fire emblem ds (no quotes). I just did and I see two brand new copies for sale. Here and here.
  23. Excellent, bravo. Fantastic job so far. To be expected since you're just damn good at tactics games. I concede that Fighter is best for Lunatic mode. However I still maintain that armor is best for Lunatic'. I did not use the rainbow potion in either of my runs so that might alter things a bit. Also keep in mind that I went for all recruits and item drops in addition to low turn counts, so it should be easy to beat some of my Lunatic' turn counts like Ch 20 where I took 17 turns instead of 8 in order to grab everything. Good luck and I am looking forward to you beating my Lunatic' turn count by a solid 30+ turns if you aren't going for all recruits/items.
  24. You need to go into more detail on what definition of efficiency this tier list is based on. What sorts of player defined limitations or goals are you setting for it? Is it based on the official goal of getting the best score at the end of the game, all A ranks? Keep in mind that "efficient" is an opinion.
  25. Boots on Marth is a better idea than Feena imo. Have fun with the mid-end game chapters.. they feel a bit harder to speedrun to me than the early game stuff.
