  1. The reality is, even I'm not sure how true that statement I made is, haha! It just references some stuff from the anime, so I think it might be a closer situation to Atelier Lulua, where it is not necessary to have seen/played the previous things in the series, but it is a definite advantage if you did. I'll get back to you on that one once I find out more. Then again... the anime is good (my favorite anime, in fact), so you won't lose much by watching it! ^^ It might be! XD Also of note: Ao's name. Hinako and Hiori both start with "Hi" (pronounced like "he"). Ao's, quite evidently, doesn't. The only similarity Ao has to Hinako and Hiori is that she has short hair, just like them. Definitely gonna be interesting to see how it all pans out, especially since in the last scene I saw before bed last night, Yuzu did seem rather hostile with Ao, essentially blaming the odd occurences in the other world on her showing up there (something even the other characters have noted - the Faraway that serves as your main dungeon only showed up after Ao arrived, and her being there has 'disrupted' a routine that was essentially the same, day to day). And let's not forget that Ao is the only girl who retained her memories from her life prior to getting isekai'd.
  2. Also, forgot to mention, in contrast with Hinako and Hiori, protagonists of the first game and the anime, respectively, Ao, who is the protagonist of Second Light, does not use a sword, and her Reflector form looks... oddly demonic. You can see the contrast in my signature, too, but have a screenshot, anyways: This says Dark Magical Girl more than anything. Her weapon is a gosh darned demonic scythe, too, instead of the beautiful blue crystalline sword of her predecessors. I hope this is not foreshadowing later events involving this character...
  3. Thank you! So far, just from a gameplay standpoint, it blows the first game out of the water! Storywise, they're about on par, but I'm only on Chapter 3, so I suspect I've barely scratched the surface! ^^ I see! Well, it definitely is deserving of such praise from what I have seen of it so far! Hehe, nice! ^^ Sounds like a very interesting character! And yeah, freediving is something I wish I could do, too! ^^ Thank you! ^^ You should, but fair warning: it MIGHT be better to play the first game and watch the anime first, to get the full experience. There seem to be multiple elements of both in this one.
  4. So... 'These are cute references to the first game', is what I thought (Hoshinomiya was the name of the school the first game took place in, and ballet was the main hobby/dream of protagonist Hinako Shirai). And then they suddenly started playing a lot of music from the first game, and then... They mention her by name. I admit, this made me incredibly, incredibly happy, seeing how Hinako is one of my absolute favorite characters in games! :3 Apparently, she was a friend of Shiho's at one point. Also, HI THERE, Yuzu! Though she is completely devoid of her genki girl personality from the first game, talking in a very monotone, almost threatening and creepy-sounding voice. But... considering everything that happened in the first game, I'm happy to see her, too~ No trace of Lime, though, which is odd, but I suspect/hope I will see her soon enough!
  5. Also, there's a rubber duck in the pool. Because... reasons. XD
  6. Oh, I am! I have just finished the prologue and I can already tell it's gonna be my game of the year! ^^ Unless they fuck it up somehow, but I doubt it. XD Nice! But yeah, the gist is that Miss Protagonist Ao Hoshizaki went to summer school and found herself in a strange world where only a school inhabited by three other girls exists, everything else is water. Or that Faraway place that suddenly appeared shortly after Ao showed up, which serves as this game's main dungeon, Etrian Odyssey style. And no one besides her has any memories of their lives before they came to that world. Her theory right now is that she got sent there by an app that suddenly appeared on her phone, and she is also a magical girl now. Also, this game has item crafting and material collecting. And a stealth mechanic. And some mysterious entity called "ReSource" seems to be watching the girls' every move, and occasionally offers tips. So... trapped in a school with no way out, with stealth mechanics, crafting, and magical girls... This is Isekai Etrian Atelier Danganronpa Persona Sailor Moon Odyssey. XD
  7. Though I imagine this would be Shrimpy's worst nightmare. XD
  8. THE. HYPE IS REAL! I got as far as the title screen up there, and I was already in love!
  9. Sounds very interesting! I'll give this game a look, should I be able to get my Vita working again! Thank you! ^^
  10. If they improve working conditions for their employees, I'll consider it.
  11. Though I guess with Adol, it's sort of a special case, since... well, he WAS actually interested in a girl at one point. But she got turned to stone, so... yeah. XD
  12. Not to my knowledge. And if it is, it'd probably cost a lot. Yeah, that second picture is what I'd expect to happen. XD
  13. Then... I dunno! xD Crap! XD Nights of Azure for me. 100%
  14. That is very, very true. If they did that, I would have dropped the game right then and there, probably. I hate harem stories with a passion. Love is meant for one person and only one person. Almost just as bad as a full-on harem. xD Yup, I have! I have a good bunch of games on the system, too: the three Neptunia Re;Birth games, Trails of Cold Steel 1 and 2, Tales of Hearts R, and the original release of Digimon Story Cyber Sleuth. Sadly, the charger for it doesn't work anymore, so I couldn't play anything on it in ages. Haha! Nice one! xD Also something the Ys series comes scarily close to, only averted by Adol leaving each and every girl that falls for him behind. But if they ever make multiple of them appear in something like an Ys compilation game... ooof. XD
  15. True, but there were also plenty of instances where it worked. Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World being a fairly decent example ... as much as the entirety of the Tales fanbase would probably like to slaughter me for that one. XD Best Tales ship, don't @ me. Hmm, I am inclined to believe you.
  16. Maybe it's a popularity thing? That would be the only explanation I could come up with. Well, especially in cases like that, it tends to sort itself out eventually. Just give it time. XD I honestly thought the whole Rex x Coffee with Milk was just a bit forced (see the Tales of Hearts comparison). Really did not see the whole "yeah, them loving each other makes sense". They just kinda did, because that's what the "boy meets girl" thing demands. At least that's the way I felt about it. Then again... I wouldn't count myself as the biggest fan of those characters in the first place. Time to run!
  17. Oh hey, it's the girl who had the most chemistry with Rex, but it didn't pan out, because red strings be stranglin'. You know... now that I think about it, that aspect of the game was eerily similar to Tales of Hearts R. That game really tried hard to force Kor and Kohaku together, but Kor had much better chemistry with fellow team member Beryl (who was also in love with the guy, similar to Nia with Rex), and it just ended up making a mess that was a stain on the story as a whole. Yeah, that's really good! That's IT for you! I had programs suddenly not working for no reason whatsoever before, too. Technology is wonky like that sometimes. XD
  18. In my experience, mGBA works okay. Speed up is a little more wonky, I found, but other than that, it's a fine emulator that'll get you most GBA games just fine. VBA doesn't even exist for my operating system, so I was forced to make the switch a while back. Seems I dodged a bullet on that one. xD We'll sic dinosaur Jagen on them.
  19. Yeah, it's really sad. Nepgear and Uni in particular, because those two really stand out in terms of character development across the series, and especially in the anime adaptation. Helps that these two in particular very quickly became two of my absolute favorites in the series next to Neptune herself, but this only serves to make me even more sad that they're getting shafted like this.
  20. Dude's got a serious downgrade since MegaNep VII. Didn't even require Next Forms to take down. Still... his boss fight was nothing short of amazing. Even better than in MegaNep VII, I would argue. In this game, you deal more damage if you attack enemies from behind. Affimojas' thing is that his giant metal cape makes him completely immune to back attacks, so you are forced to expose yourself to his own, very powerful sword swings if you want to damage him, meaning you need to be very proactive about guarding and dodging at the right time. Also, this game is teasing me. Relentlessly. WHY ARE YOU NOT PLAYABLE?!? *cough* Sorry. XD
  21. Definitely! They're doing a good job at portraying the characters as they were! Hehehehehehe... my master plan, it is working! xD
