  1. ^I think you're giving the game designers too much credit for knowledge they probably don't possess.
  2. dondon bringing science into our wonderful world of magic, shame on you. And I think the whole cousins thing is a rule, a villager in ch.4 says this: Only direct descendants inherit the full power of the gods. And they're the only ones who can handle divine items such as the Sacred Relics. However, if the blood of immediate family members crosses, the blood becomes enriched, and their progeny'll reap the full power of their god... But that practice is strictly forbidden, and for obvious reasons! http://old.serenesforest.net/fe4/script_04.html And obviously trying to put logic into a very old game is silly, I just prefer to see Levin's uncles, Chaggal, Scorpio and Ishtar and Ishtore with no fala blood as an oversight. It makes my world understanding feel more full and complete.
  3. ^Except for the fact that the male inheriting the mark, ie major holy blood, isn't a given considering daughters could inherit the mark. It doesn't seem that females are allowed to rule Grandbell, if they were Deidre would be made the true ruler and anyone could be her husband, not the very influential Duke of Velthomer. The reason that Eldigan has the major holy blood is because Hezul the Black married his youngest daughter, who inherited the mark and the holy weapon, to the duke of Nodion, making them endlessly loyal vassals and cousins to the crown. Chaggal is the direct descendant of Hezul's oldest son. It just seems out of place that St Marie's descendants continue to inherit minor holy blood for over 200 years, what seems like at least six generations, while Hezul's main line would stop inheriting minor holy blood in 3 measly generations. The only explanation seems to be plot device.
  4. No reason to be sorry, it was just a theory. Sorry if I came on a little enthused. And in terms of holy blood disappearing, I've never really rapped my head around that. I understand holy blood inheritance is random, but St. Marie's children continually inherit Loptsou dark holy blood for over 200 years, the only reason seeming to be plot device. That seems kind of inconsistent to me.
  5. ^ I don't see the logic to the first half of that argument, I dislike using substitutes out of principle, but they could very well be better, so I won't address that. Think about it like this, Fury explicitly tells Levin/Lewyn in chapter three that the rule of Silesia has always had Sety blood, thus why would the death of Levin's father, who if he doesn't possess major holy isn't king cause such unrest. Here is the quote from chapter two: Levin: If I go back, I have to succumb to the will of my late father and succeed the throne. But my uncles would never have it. One slip up and there'd be mutiny, like there is here. You know who suffers then? The people. Give the throne to somebody who can handle that. I like the freedom I have now. I've no use for the crown. Give it to one of my uncles. Fury: You know that Silesian royalty claims direct lineage with the Wind God Holsety. That means you are the only one capable of succession. Only you can preserve the Silesian lineage. And the people wish it of you as well. Levin, the queen was in tears when I left. Please... Sniff... just come back with me. http://old.serenesforest.net/fe4/script_02.html Think of it like this, if Queen Rahnah was the one possessing major holy blood, she would very likely be the queen, her husband's death wouldn't be that significant. Unlike Grandbell, Silesia seems like a progressive enough country to have a female as their 'king'. Leastwise many significant Silesians seem to be female, Fury, Mahnya, and Pamela to name a few. And a second point, if Levin's father wasn't the true ruling force, then why would his brothers have any claim on the throne and why would they be such significant nobles in the country. It just seems implausible that a non-ruling king's brothers would be that much of a force in a nation. I find it much more plausible that due to their classes, baron, which already possesses an 'A' rank in win, developers just didn't put that high of a value on giving them minor Sety holy blood.
  6. ^interesting point, hadn't thought about it like that. I suppose the lifespan of commoners could be pretty short, shaping how the nobility sees the world. Hell the lifespan in feudal Western Europe was only about 40 for a while.
  7. Experience formula is half-way down the page, if it comes to zero, no experience http://old.serenesforest.net/fe4/calc.html
  8. Just replaying the game again, and despite several times through the game, I still like to read through the dialogue. I know I'm odd. But that really wasn't the point, I was just reading the conversation between Cuan and Ehlyn, the one where they talk about the Gae Bolg and it just seemed odd to me about how they talked about the "cursed" legend of that weapon. The developer's notes talk about Noba's and Dain's conflict, but what I was more struck by is the way they talk about the distance of time between the first and the second holy war. The time bridge is only about 100 years, from war one to war two, King Azmir is St Heim's son and only the second king of Grandbell. Am I the only one who feels that the game really wants the time difference to be more than just a century between the two events?
  9. It is indeed confusing and somewhat nonsensical. If you read Kaga's notes about holy blood, he says that there aren't any hard and fast rules about who inherits it or why. But to answer your question, the reason people say that Galzus and Mareeta have major holy blood is because of the marks of Odo on their backs that several enemies talk about when referencing the two. Kaga's notes mention, if I remember correctly, that only those with major holy blood got the markings on their bodies.
  10. To respond to the first half, you obviously were able to get whatever you hit to fall asleep, so somewhere in the chain you had a result that resulted in a hit, so I can't imagine a battle going on forever.
  11. Your logic seems correct, but I've never had it explained or observed any other way. So I assume it just keeps reusing RN's until the battle is over, then it comes to a new situation and thinks "welp, damn I'm out of numbers everything must now be zeros until I get to a menu" or something confounded like that.
  12. If I'm correct, I haven't done any actual number crunching or any real testing, so take it with a grain of salt; I believe what they mean by that is that the game will not generate any new Rn's. So basically, it will reuse the exact same chain of numbers until completion is reached, thus why you can break that arena problem by hitting the 'B' to go to the menu screen. So basically it will generate empty levels if the string is long enough. As a side note, I have experienced impossible 'empty' levels in the arena.
  13. I would second get Resire/Nosferatu, but if you want Aura, go ahead and seize Sophara and have Celice talk to Julia.
  14. I find the Earth Sword has its uses, especially in ch. 7 with the whole Leinster defense, but I don't use it a ton either.
  15. The problem is that no Hannibal means you get no Sharlow/Corpul a child you probably intended on getting. So no warp either? HMM, has your dance moved? You could high tail several cavalry to their full distance and use the dancer to restore them back to the castle.
  16. Do you not have a warp or return staff user who hasn't moved yet?
  17. Ah, well that makes your life more difficult. Hannibal isn't particularly interesting, but I would try Marty's advice first, burning RN's on the arena with weak units could potentially save your bacon.
  18. You shouldn't have to use cheat codes. According to the wikia: "In Chapter 9, if Finn is alive at the beginning of the chapter, Leif may speak to Altena, resulting in her taking her leave of the battlefield. This will essentially allow her to be recruited later in the chapter."
