  1. I don't know if ever there has been a time that I was so excited for a game. I'm normally pretty calm in my demeanor, but watching the trailer in the April Direct, I was, like, squee-ing and flailing my arms. I'm happy to be here to discuss the game with everybody here as well.

I didn't scream and perform any celebratory actions at all. I just smiled, but my drastically larger excitement stayed inside. o.o TIKI WAS RIGHT ABOUT OLDER PEOPLE NOT EXPRESSING MUCH NOOOO
  2. I'm all for more hair and eye colors (the lack of good red hair in Awakening always annoyed me) and hairstyles.

Build is an interesting question though. Presumably Kamui's age needs to fall between Sakura's and Ryouma's unless they want to handwave it away with "manaketes age funny," so that may limit the build options. Likewise I don't know if skin color variance would make sense in-universe, but I'd support its inclusion even if it doesn't.

Edit: But I REALLY don't want access to every class, that's just excessive. Give us class sets, either predefined or "choose 3 classes" during character creation or something.

You can just choose three classes yourself in-game and limit yourself to those choices. Nothing wrong with self-imposed challenges. :3
  3. Well, obviously it's my opinion. People don't always say "in my opinion" you know. I find manaketes lame and boring, especially compared to the dragon laguz, so it annoys me that they're more popular than the dragon laguz. Simple as that.

But you said "sadly" like it was an opinion shared by a great majority of people, which it is not. I have unpopular opinions myself, such as me not minding Awakening's story, but I'm not going to say "Oh, Awakening's story was fine", but instead, "I personally believe that Awakening's story was fine to me." It is less bothersome than the previous statement.

Plus, you stating your negative-infused opinion didn't help your argument for your paragraph stating how you think it would make more sense for Kamui to state he is a manakete. You've even rightfully complained to Glaceon about this in her needless referring to Ike as a "shit lord" in situations where it doesn't help her arguments, yet you're doing the same thing now.

  4. I think it is obvious Kamui is a manakete. Why create a completely new species with the same functions and looks (pointy ears with little bumps at the bottom, dragonstone usage, etc.)? All it would do is have people question the point of the new race.

Also, Kamui's body shape (ignoring the claws) is shared by multiple quadruped animals, more than deer, including common interpretations of quadruped western dragons. Plus, the dragon part of Kamui is overwhelming: scales, long neck, thick tail, wings, claws, spherical muzzle (similarly shaped like Ninian's, not a deer's)... Plus, the horns look like part of a split mask surrounding Kamui's eyes. Besides, aren't dragon forms very varied anyway? Fae and the DS enemy manaketes are big pieces of examples. Also, IS even showed Kamui's dragon transformation as a focus for a 2 second clip: I'm sure IS would think many longtime fans would easily notice it and shout, "Manakete!" unless stated otherwise, which it wasn't.

I'm sorry, but I see no reason to no believe Kamui is something else. I admit I love manaketes, but I don't wish to be biased.

Manaketes seem to be popular (sadly)...

How in the seven hells is the popularity of manaketes a BAD thing?! I get that you hate them, but GODS. You didn't even state it was your opinion.
  5. The domesticated wyverns seem to be a subspecies of the wild ones, the way dogs are to wolves, anyway. Though, I'm saying this based on the differences present between the two in the one game I can think of were both appeared together (and I'm not talking about sprite diffrences here, those aren't consistent over the course of the series anyway).

Also, if Cherche really does say that she found Minerva as a baby then that would imply that the pre-manakete dragons simply couldn't both stay dragons and remain fertile. And if one were to say that since all the dragons couldn't bear children at first then that always remained the case then shouldn't that apply to the manakete as well? And yet that is clearly not the case. Besides, one baby is not an indication of how fast a species reproduces anyway. Even the domesticated wyverns might have a very low birthrate.

I'm sure Xane said that the dragons couldn't give birth anymore, so to survive, they became manaketes, thus gaining the ability to give birth again. The inability to bear children only appears to apply to their dragon forms, not their humanoid forms.
  6. I am now imagining dragon form kamui wearing glasses

He/she's already got mask-horns from around his/her eyes. That'd be HARD to put on. XD Not like manaketes retain accessories in their dragon forms (to my personal sorrow) anyways.
  7. Heck, why a deer body and legs? A bunch of quadruped animals have the same body type and legs (minus hooves) as a deer. Horses, lions, dogs... The common artist interpretations of western quadruped dragons also count with no doubt. But whatever. Believe what you want, like I said. But when I see and think of Kamui and his abilities, I see and think of a manakete using a DRAGONstone to turn into a dragon, and plenty of other people do as well. Again, go ahead and believe what you want. >_>

  8. This

Plus, in fe 13 Nah shows about the same age as the other children despite being an half manakete. This proves that Ryouma coul actually be the kamui's older brother without being centuries old himself(if it's true that Kamui is the only one in the family to have manakete powers).

Well, we aren't really sure how manaketes, half or full, age exactly. I theorise manaketes in general could start aging like humans until they are around 10, then their aging drastically decelerates, with full manaketes aging more slowly. It is true that Ryouma is Kamui's older brother, though, as said in VincentASM's analysis.
  9. Male: Robin from Awakening. White hair, black/purple robe... He looks awesome. Kamui is also tied for the top spot because of his awesome armor, wild white hair, red eyes, and manakete ears (YES), but his lack of shoes/boots stops him there for me.

Female: Miciciah look beautiful with the hair, eyes, dress, and gloves. Kamui also is tied for the same reasons as her male counterpart (yes, I ignored the thighs).

  10. Maybe IS wanted to create a new race that can use dragonstones? Ever think of that? Also, no other manakete has deer-like horns, deer-like legs, and even a deer-like body. It's basically a deer with a dragon's head, claws, tail, and wings slapped onto it. Look at Kamui in the second trailer, the resemblance to a deer is clearer there.

Listen, I will not call Kamui a manakete unless he/she is outright stated to be one, which he/she has not. Deal with it.

The "new race" thing would be like the Virgil situation, as I stated. Of course I thought of that. And as said before, no other manakete has feathers and chubbiness like Fae, so your logic is contradictory. Plus, the body shape in the first trailer (which is of better quality than in-game models) doesn't even look like a deer's from the side, instead much like Awakening's dragons. Kamui's "horns" actually look like they're surrounding Kamui's eyes like a mask cut at the center, too. Plus, the amount of dragon on Kamui's body (including the scales and neck) overwhelms the "deerish legs". Hell, nothing about Kamui's backstory screams "deer". If his transformed body is truly a "beast form", why not just give him a beaststo- oh, wait, he has a dragonstone.

Call him the opposite if you want, but the overwhelming evidence screams "manakete" more than "other dragon race that acts like manaketes" or "beast race". This just looks like insistent denial, and my theory about aging still stands.

  11. Uh, maybe manaketes don't actually exist in this game's world? They don't in Tellius, so it's not like IS hasn't made a world where there are no manaketes. Also, Kamui's deer-dragon form looks VERY different from past manaketes. Past manaketes looked like basic dragons, with no features from other creatures. Kamui, on the other hand, transforms into something that looks like a dragon fused with Xerneas from Pokemon X. I don't see why he/she absolutely HAS to be a manakete and can't be a new kind of shapeshifter. And dragon laguz could use stones too, you know. A thing called the Laguz Stone exists.

Yes, but manaketes could only use dragonstones if they were in the manakete class, as Awakening shows.

But then why the dragonstones? If IS were to make a new FE game containing dragon shapeshifters that function similarly, then say, "Oh, they function like manaketes, but they aren't manaketes because we decided to call them something else.", it's like the Virgil situation in official form. Also, Kamui looks MUCH more similar to the other manaketes than Fae does (she has feathers, but no other known manakete does, and she is chubby, also unlike other manaketes), and don't get me started on the Shadow Dragon manakete enemies. Looking at Kamui in the first trailer, I don't see anything like a deer, especially the claws which aren't exactly hooves. Deer aren't exactly the only horned creatures around. Plus, Laguz stones refill the transformation bar, force transformation, and vanish after use, while dragonstones transform manaketes as long as they are around.

And just because manakete characters can't use dragonstones doesn't mean they aren't manaketes, as they retain their dragon weakness, no matter what. Plus, Xane can't use dragonstones, but he is still considered a manakete.

  12. That's not confirmed yet. His/Her class isn't even manakete, so it's quite possible that he's something else that uses dragonstones.

But what's the point in creating another dragon race if they'll function like manaketes? This isn't exactly a case similar to the dragon laguz, where they could transform anytime, but had to recharge their bar when time runs out; a different function from manaketes. Plus, you don't have to be of a class called "manakete" to be considered one, as Xane and Awakening's second seals prove.
  13. ^He's got a name now. It's Ryouma. xP

But yeah, unless that woman has deer-dragon blood, she can't be Kamui's mom. Kamui is some kind of shapeshifter that can transform into a deer-dragon.

UNLESS Kamui wasn't born this way, but was given that power later on. Which is certainly possible.

...Kamui is a manakete. He uses a dragonstone, a stone intended only for manaketes.

Speaking of which, his manakete relations throw a huge wrench into things. I thought he may be generations old, but the fact that he has an elder brother in the Hoshido family makes it complicated. He may need an unseen parent to explain his hair color (note that hair dying does not exist in the FE worlds except for the elixir in the unusual-for-FE-world-standards Hot Spring world).

  14. Ryoma is reportedly Kamui's older brother so Kamui can't be that old. There is nothing that says Manaketes age at a linear rate, and Kamui is only half Manakete (theory) so he might appear older than full blooded manaketes for that age. Nah (another half human manakete) looks almost the same age as her mother and Nowi is MUCH older than she is.

Whoops; guess I missed the elder brother part of the analysis. Gods, this is confusing...

Edit: I think manaketes age like humans until around 10 years old, then their aging drastically decelerates. Just a theory.

  15. Ehh... I think the tactician class is better back at FE13. It was a class designed simply for Robin, a man/woman who used swords and sorcery with tactics to help guide his army to victory, as was part of his/her character. If they ever include fighting tacticians again, they can just be in normal classes, much like Tellius' Soren, who served as the tactician for the Greil Mercenaries while being identified as a mage.

  16. Alright, alright, fine. But I still don't like that a vast majority of playable manaketes are little girls. And boring ones at that. Dragon laguz had cool forms and a variety of playable members. Kurthnaga was sort of a kid in appearance, Ena was an adult female, Nasir is a man, then we have Gareth who is a pretty bulky man.

That's an issue with characters of the species, not the species itself. Didn't you once specifically tell manakete lovers in a class thread why you thought dragon laguz were better gameplay-wise without provocation? Plus, you hate adult Tiki based solely on her appearance, even going as far as to bash her in a thread discussing a fact about her bio. And then you claimed in the other if thread that despite having a dragonstone, Kamui was not confirmed to be a manakete and used the dragonstone to turn into a deer, contradicting the stone's name and purpose. I feel like you don't WANT to like the manaketes.

Edit: Oh, geez, I think I helped derail the thread... I should have just kept the discussion to the avatar's customization options as was intended... -_-; I'm sorry...
