  1. Surprisingly enough, I noticed from the class caps that this isn't even really true in this game. Taking all of the regular in-game classes into account (though obviously some might appear less often than others), Res caps are actually higher on average than Def caps. The growths aren't really skewed towards Def either. Maybe the enemies in-game tend to have lower Res anyway, I wouldn't know. But I just found this really interesting, I can see they made a conscious effort to nerf magic from its absolute dominance in Awakening.
  2. From what I understand, no unit can A+ with the avatar though. Kamui can use Buddy Seals with units he/she has an A support with, but I don't think it works the other way around? It seems like Kamui's spouse is the only one to have the privilege of accessing Kamui's secondary class, via a Marriage Seal. Kanna inherits Kamui's secondary class because Kanna already has access to Dark Prince(ss), but any of Kamui's other possible children will inherit only Dark Prince(ss). To partially make up for the children not having access to certain classes, you can still have the parents pass down skills from classes the children can't obtain themselves. Kamui can reclass into basically anything, and the other parent can reclass into Kamui's secondary option (which the non-Kanna child won't get).
  3. Btw have the Marriage and Buddy Seal mechanics been 100% confirmed? Does it only let a unit reclass into the base class of the partner, or their secondary class if the unit already has the primary class?
  4. I don't want to venture too deep into spoiler territory but I have a feeling Skadi is not obtainable by players. That shit is wayyyy too good.
  5. Just to be clear - for all these skillsets we are making in this thread, we are limiting the obtainable skills to the max number of classes that can be obtained from Marriage and Buddy seals, as well as classes and skills passed down from parents to children right? None of the "buy anything you want from streetpass doppelgangers" nonsense?
  6. Crit skills probably aren't worth it unless you're going for a full crit stacking build. Rinka has free access to Counter so you might as well take advantage of that. Oboro gives her Breaking Sky which is great but it'll conflict with Sol. Maybe Flamboyant to boost proc rates and improve her hit rate?
  7. That should be right, yeah. Oboro x Takumi OTP
  8. Mag is not the best flaw because it lowers the speed cap by 1, and speed is generally considered one of the most important stats. Granted, since there are so many ways to modify your stats in this game, reaching specific caps may or may not be as important. The only other choices you really have are -Luck and -Def. All -Luck really does is lower your Str by 1, which you can probably get away with. The disadvantages of -Def are pretty obvious, but it doesn't touch your offensive stats, so it might end up not being a bad choice if everyone ends up being able to kill everyone in 1 or 2 hits anyway, which might end up being the case.
  9. I'm not sure but I think the Exorcist Bow is strong against magic users and not monsters (text dump says 魔法特効), can anyone confirm? I translated it as Ragnarok but the katakana says rainarok... ¯\(°_o)/¯
  10. Oh is that true? I knew those Replica weapons existed but I thought they were just bonus items or something...yeah that does suck.
  11. Charlotte's mods are pretty crazy good especially if pvp ends up being very offensive player-phase focused. If she were a dad in Awakening, she would've been the undisputed best father in the game (after Robin), especially if that Fighter turned into Pegasus Knight for daughters >>;;
  12. My guess is that Vincent found the growth rates for the Merchant classes before realizing that they were readily accessible reclass options for some of the Hoshidan characters. Since they were absent from the Class Reel videos for some reason, he probably thought they were special classes.
  13. Yes. They are weapons exclusive to the Amiibo characters and can't be removed from them.
  14. I think the new experience scaling calculations alone will make the difficulty more balanced in this regard. In Fates, units who are behind in experience gain huge amounts of exp, whereas units who are overleveled will gain very little or even no experience. This simultaneously helps make more units viable without the need for grinding, and (hopefully) prevents the snowball effect where a paired up Robin could just solo the game while continuing to get stronger and stronger.
  15. Could you elaborate? If you're referring to the descriptions on the site, it should be changed to "enemy's ability to double attack +5" for the javelin-type weapons, and "user's ability to double attack -3" for the steel weapons. The original weapon translations failed to differentiate between the user's and enemy's double attack threshold.
  16. Oh okay I see. I would do some number crunching to get an estimate of expected crit rates, but I have no idea how the support bonuses work yet haha. Players will probably have access to a decent amount of critical evade without much effort.
  17. Ogre Strike only works when the user initiates the battle so it doesn't work simultaneously with Vantage. But if I come up with a ridiculous Crit stacking build, I'll post it here. I was able to make one for Sorcerer Owain in Awakening where he was able to reach 100% Crit with Vantage against limit broken capped characters in people's Streetpass teams lol.
  18. Where are you hearing that? I've seen pretty much unanimous praise regarding the gameplay and the strategy needed for this game compared to Awakening.
  19. If you want my honest opinion, Counter is a broken as fuck skill that should be banned in any pvp format where the units on both sides have comparable stats. It was broken in Awakening and is arguably worse here, partly because of the incredibly low HP caps, and partly because ranged weapons have been nerfed so a lot of units will need to rely on melee weapons for good offense. Not to mention that if you are controlling your units, you can force battles at 1-range so all non-bow-using enemies will be forced to take full Counter damage. So yeah Counter is an amazing skill. A bit too amazing.
  20. Obviously you can choose to attack their def. But for a lot of physical units (not all), their Def is higher than their Res, so if you're doing less damage before the proc is taken into account, the end result might not be that amazing. I still think it's a good skill, but I have the feeling that it may be underwhelming in some cases (whereas something like Luna, though it has a slightly lower proc rate, is pretty consistent about adding good damage). If I'm wrong, that's cool too. EDIT: Actually you know what. The Res caps are actually really high in this game. Maybe physical attacks + Breaking Sky will be the best choice against a lot of enemies after all.
  21. I agree with that paragraph, and this is why self-inserts are a bad idea, especially when they have the ability to support EVERY single character in the game. On one end the self-insert character is bound to act in some way that goes against what the player would actually do themselves, and on the other end the character becomes bland as hell with no personality in an attempt to avoid situations of the former type. And this isn't even going into the massive amounts of player worshipping.
  22. Basara's stats are pretty nicely balanced. It might become an Awakening Dread Fighter-like case where it's this really cool hybrid offensive class that is good overall but doesn't absolutely excel in anything. But 65/30/32 HP/Def/Res is pretty freaking great. As for Breaking Sky. It has a ridiculous proc rate (at least compared to other proc skills. It ends up being similar to Luna proc rates in Awakening considering the lower skill caps), but it may be pretty risky to rely on. Physically offensive units having 0% growths in Magic is a real thing in this game, so if you were to attack their Res, Breaking Sky will do literally nothing. Players will probably make sure to keep their non-dominant attack stats low on their non-hybrid units for this very reason.
  23. It's true that there are a lot of idiots on Amazon who give 1-star reviews for the product not having shipped on time or other stupid shit like that. But that doesn't mean you should completely dismiss the reviews either, especially when most of us can't even read them. It hurts my head too much to read through the reviews in detail, but from what I can gather, many of the things they mention are similar to the things that players on this forum have said.
  24. I don't know if weapon rank bonuses and WTA/WTD work the same way in Fates as they do in Awakening, but in Awakening axe users get hit the hardest by WTD. Axe users lose 25% hit right off the bat (in addition to the -15% from WTD, they lose the extra 10% hit they get from a weapon rank of A), and axes are the most inaccurate weapon type to begin with so it isn't pretty for them. In Fates, axes have WTD against swords and tomes, both of which are likely to be used somewhat often. So yeah, Axebreaker could really fuck Berserkers up. It's interesting to note though, that while Berserkers had one of the lowest Skill caps in Awakening, their Skill cap is pretty high in this game :o
