Update:
We have our first patches almost done, they should be ready by the end of this week sometime.
The patches are for name-changing and item-changing. Skills are still under testing.
The accessory shop is still being worked on, so whether or not it gets released is really up to DeathChaos25.
A tutorial for People Who Have Never Hacked™ is also in the works.

I don't mind paying a bit more for the japanese 3ds. I'm learning japanese and could actually buy other games that haven't been localized like Dai Gyakuten Saiban. Besides, even if I buy Birthright again, I don't know if it'll work with my 10.6 update, and I don't have the other things others were mentioning (something about Ocarina of Time, I think) to be able to use the patch with a different method.
It's ironic that you mention that cause several of us in Team If are also working on the Great Ace Attorney fanslation.
-
Hey thanks for the new patch. Can anyone tell me what to do with it? My 3ds is still on 10.5 so not sure what to do with it
Don't update your 3ds and wait, basically. We're working on the actual patch files arn.

Yes to all of it. You can use NTR to patch it. For CFW, the best for New 3DS are either CakesFW or Reinand.
^^ Reinand is said to work pretty well with our patches, iirc.

Hi there,
I've been doing Fire Emblem if conversation translations for a while, and I was wondering if I could help out. I work as a pro localizer in Japan, and I can't stand to see the game ripped apart like this.
PM me your Skype!
Hey, thank you all for the work you're putting into this!
I was wondering since you will be releasing a patcher for this, if it is possible to work these patches in with UnassumingVenasaur's Extended Same-Sex Marriage patch and/or DeathChaos25's workaround to getting children from same-sex S-supports?
Also, what is the priority on the Fan-translations to be patched in since I understand they're going through a revamp?
Yes, it's likely possible. We probably won't work on it, but if DeathChaos25 or someone wants to make it compatible, then I don't see why not. Our patcher isn't limited to our files only.
We have all the newer members of the team recently recruited working on supports. The more veteran members of the team are enjoying life instead (we're burnt out).
-
Low priority.Thank you SO, SO, SO MUCH for making this patch!! I was wondering if you were going to make a separate patch just for the Saizo and Beruka, and "magic dust" conversations for those of us who like the original dialogue. Thanks again for saving us.
1. Yes. Stated so to work with all versions in OP.I have a few questions about the undub patch (keep in mind that I know NOTHING about 3ds modding/hacking):
1) Is it possible to apply it to the physical copy of the SE edition?
2) I have a new 3ds that is updated to the most recent version, will this still work?
3) If I choose afterwards to update a game/software, go online, or download DLC, will I run the risk of ruining my 3ds?
2. If you can access Homebrew via several of the methods, all non-dlc content can.
3. Clearly you're using Homebrew, so no, you can't brick it. Several of those may break the patch though.

The patcher has been uploaded and linked in the OP. Patches should be coming soon.
Expected first patches:
-Name changing
-Accessory shop
-Maybe undub

Can I trouble you for some clarification towards my specific situation? Provided I have OoTHax on 10.6 and a digital copy of the game, what patches can I expect to work. More specifically, I don't care to use the Japanese audio patch, the dub doesn't bother me personally. I'm more interested in restoring the accessory shop, Amie, butchered names, and the support path dialogues. Kana's S rank supports suffered from a particularly atrocious case of nosy editing from what I've heard. I'm also curious if I'll be able to patch the other two paths considering my initial copy is digital.
10.6 and digital? HANS doesn't work with anything DLC, so basically, nothing can be patched. As of now.
-
I'll buy it if it's pre-loaded with a .3ds of Fates SE with more supports done.
That would be piracy.
-
Question! Are you guys going to restore the supports? Not gonna lie I finished the English ones and quite a few are pretty cringe worthy. 'Big cheese of Hoshido' 'Magic carpet ride of flavor' 'Mold my onions' those are just a few I can name off the back.
Yes
I meant people like yourself Yoshi who's been nice enough to answer questions in not only this, but the JA translation thread the original team does not.
Well, most of us actually have lives. This thread is made so that people with questions can be answered by people who know the answers, because we really can't take the time to bother with all of your questions.
That's why the FAQ for this thread is taking so long to answer. The time I'm taking to write this post, 5 minutes, also happens to be one of my breaks.

Small update, if anyone is in need of a Gateway card, I have a once-used Gateway (opened to check if it works). Selling for USD $60, PM if interested!
-
There was an estimate on the first page of about 2-3 weeks. I've also been reading some twitter feeds of people on the project and apparently most of the re-enabling (for amie and the swimsuits) is fairly simple. So the bulk of the work is translation since a lot of Amie stuff doesn't have a translation yet.
Also the translation (if its the same translation that's been floating around) needs some editing.
There's already a working version of the dub with Kamui voices fixed. SciresM said the accessory shop stuff is quite simple. Amie isn't HARD per se, but it will require at least 2 weeks of serious coding. (So expect at least 3 weeks).
As of now, we probably won't even translate Amie, we'll just patch it back in.
And yeah, the translation is undergoing lots of fixes right now.

Hey, I have a quick question. So I'm on 10.6 (unfortunately), but I managed to obtain a copy of OoT and a powersave, so I think I should be set for installing oothax (right?)
I was just wondering, does homebrew transfer saves? Like for example, I was actually quite getting used to the English voices, but I'd still like to switch back and forth occasionally. So if I launch the game normally, through the home menu, (for when I want to listen to English voices) will all of my save data be the same as when I start the game through homebrew (for when I want to listen to the undub)? Or will they be treated separately?
I have the same question regarding online functions.
Sorry if this doesn't make much sense, but I appreciate a response!
It doesn't transfer saves, it just uses the same save. You're still always on Sysnand.

Let us all take a day of rest and watch in amusement the Kotaku article that was published about us's comments. Man that shit is hilarious.

We never have and never will. Accepting donations for something that isn't ours is grounds for a DMCA. Give your money to Nintendo instead.Moving on...
Do you guys (IF team) take donations by any chance? i want to help out anyway I can. Or is that not allowed?

I'm wondering if this will work with physical copies of Conquest or Brightright that will have all the DLC routes, and may I ask how will you implement such patch for it, because many people are screwed over with the Special Edition.
Anyways thank you for this interesting project and putting all your hard for it, we await for its success.
For any non-cfw users (aka if you don't know what that is, that's you), the patch at the moment can only work with whatever is on your cart. Meaning, anything downloaded won't be patched. However, certain files, such as the sounds, music, and whatnot, if they're already on cart, they'll patch.
-
Are you going to be updating the patch for the new system update for the 3ds that came out today (10.6)? That might be an issue for people who's 3ds's have updated automatically (which does happen).
We aren't the makers of HANS or Homebrew.
-
Which'll most likely come first, the patch for this to put the fantranslation over it, or the cleaned up supports for the JP version?
We have one section working on the Fates restoration and everyone else on supports, so it could be either.
-
I want to say: Thank you to everyone involved with this.
I was messing around with some stuff and it dawned on me how it's no easy task swimming around the files [or maybe it is and I just don't know any better], but either way, thanks for taking a bit of your free time to work on this.
Also, I want to ask a tiny lil question: after the undub is fixed, what's next? I'm interested in the name restoration patch. [sorry if this comes out kinda rude, I'm just curious].
Names will probably come out at the same time, that's easy.
Amie comes next, is what we intend.
-
Regarding the undub for Kamui:
It's in the bscar.bin, but there's no binary mapping available. We're going to try and manually do it tomorrow.
Are you actually implying that voice acting in a story-driven game is merely a "small aspect"? The English voice acting is arguably awful and I just want my first playthrough of the game's story be the authentic experience.
You already lost that whne you decided to play Fates, lol. The only way to get a full experience is to play the original Japanese version, even our fan translation suffered due to text limits.
-
I don't mean to sound rude or impatient, but how long would an undub patch like this take to create? I have a copy of the NA version and have absolutely no motivation to play with English dubbing,
Most of the voices are already done but there's a critical error in MC VA.
-
I made an account just to thank you lot fo being an incredible collection of fans.
Is there anything I can do to help with the patch? I'm only an English major so it'd mostly be grammar and old fashioned vernacular to which I'd do any good.
Anything is fine! PM me your Skype.
-
nice, looking forward to it! :)
Yup. SciresM confirmed that getting in the accessory shop back was pretty easy in terms of coding. We also have working versions of our own undubs and name changing, but not all the names are changed yet, and the undub has some broken voices.

Frankly i have no idea what I'm doing when it comes to this sort of stuff, But I'm fairly sure I'll muddle through with the power of the Internet.
Might i get a Very detailed List of the things I will need to patch the Amie back into Eu Special Edition ?
Sure. But someone else will probably do it, we suck at writing tutorials.
First of all, thank you really much for doing this.
I have several question that I would like to ask.
1) Is it possible to post the instructions on how to use the patch when the team is done with the patch?
2) I've the entire thread and found that I have to use "xorpads" to patch it? I am quite confused by this as I thought xorpads can only be used with 9.2 version or below.(Mine current version is 10.5)
1. See OP: *faq to be posted at a later date*
2. Research a bit more into HANS :)
